Zekrom felt a tug and a shift of energy in Unova.
Inwardly, he grinned. It meant one thing – the Hero of Ideals was finally in Unova. He awakened from his Dark Stone and as such he saw his brother, Reshiram, awakened from the Light Stone, too. The two dragons checked each other out and bristled.
"What, perhaps, might have awakened you, brother?" Zekrom sneered while Reshiram merely stared.
"It appears that my Hero of Truth is coming," replied the white-furred dragon.
"So is mine. Well, then I am off to check out who this new hero of mine will be," Zekrom said tartly.
Zekrom then flew off to find and check out his new hero. Reshiram made the same action.
"Arceus's sake, stop following me!" Zekrom bellowed to his brother.
It has been an hour and they were still heading off and flying to the same direction which confused Zekrom. Nevertheless, he took it out to his brother to stop following him around.
Reshiram sneered, "I am not following you, you insolent fool! I am heading towards where the tug of energy is!"
Zekrom grumbled and the two twin dragons bickered until they arrived at the pier of Unova.
The group had arrived at the pier of Unova. Professor Oak and Delia had scurried to move while Ash, Misty, Tracey, and Brock had marveled at the different Pokemons that they saw near the sea.
"Hey, does Luvdisc evolve? That one looks like a big Luvdisc," Ash quipped as he saw an Alomomola jumping and playing in the water. Tracey immediately busied himself with the sketchpad he had and tried to draw the sight of the Alomomola.
Misty's eyes had taken up a heart-shape, much like the fish Pokemon and said, "If they do, I will have Luverin and Caserin evolve! Those are magnificent water Pokemon!"
Brock chuckled at Misty's antics. He missed hearing Misty's quips about how water Pokemon are the greatest in the world. Looked like Misty had not changed one bit. Pikachu, then ran turned around to which they saw an ominous dark cloud forming in the skies.
Before they can address it, a metallic frame traps Pikachu inside. Ash hurried to pry it open, then catching sight of Pikachu's captors in black coats topped with dark hats and sunglasses. Growling, Ash said, "Team Rocket!"
Misty, Tracey, and Brock turned and surely, there they were. The familiar magenta of Jessie's hair, the blue of James's, and the small figure of Meowth. Inwardly, they groaned as the group had followed them yet again into another region.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" shouted Misty.
Meowth spoke, "Hey, look! The original twerps back again!"
Jessie smirked. "What a question, twerpish indeed!"
"Not this again," Brock muttered. Tracey heard this and said, "Ditto."
James continued. "We'll answer the question when we feel the need!"
They removed their coats, hat, and sunglasses only to reveal a new uniform that's purely made out of black and red.
"Bringing the blinding white light of evil in the future!"
"Thrusting the hammer of justice down onto the darkness of the universe!"
Meowth entered. "Carving our names in da Rock of Eternity!"
Misty quipped absentmindedly, "Well, that's a new one."
Jessie sparkled as she addressed the twerpette. "Oh, you think so! I know it's perfect…"
Jessie continued to gush about their motto when she was brought back to reality when Meowth fake coughed.
"Ahem! The fiery destroyer, Jessie!"
"And with thunderous emotion, I am James!"
"Wisest of da wise, Meowth!"
They chorused. "And now gather, under the name of Team Rocket."
The trio noticed that the twerps were looking around for something.
"Hey, twerps! What are you looking around for?!" Jessie snapped.
Misty frowned. "No Wobbuffett?"
Jessie appeared to be taken aback and broken when Meowth stepped up.
"Get on with da schedule, twerp! It's a new region, Wobbuffett's at HQ."
Ash ordered, "Pikachu, thunderbolt!"
Pikachu sparked and the electricity ran in the metal but was reflected off because the handle was insulated and the Team Rocket trio mocked this poor attempt of escape. Both groups did not notice the ominous, swirling black clouds drew closer, engulfing the sky in darkness. Suddenly, a large bolt of blue lightning descends, sending Team Rocket blasting off and freeing Pikachu from his cage.
However, Ash, Misty, Tracey, and Brock were sent off spiraling to the ground. Ash gets up promptly and spots Pikachu zapped by the blue bolt of lightning once more. Curious, he looked up at the sky and saw a blue core growing brighter, radiating both light and electricity. Pikachu aimed a Thunderbolt at the blue core only for the electricity to dissipate, revealing two Pokemons.
"What's that?"
From a distance, amidst the broad daylight, a girl and her Axew popped out from a tree and saw the swirling black clouds. Curious, she leapt from tree to tree, swinging from vines to vines towards the disturbance.
"I sense draconic presence, Axew! Let's go!"
A young man with tea green hair and his Zorua also felt the disturbance.
"Let's go, my friend."
Reshiram grumbled, "You idiot! You just had to make a scene in front of my hero! The cloud will mask our presence, you said! But now, you're sending blue bolts of lightning! So much for anonymity!"
Zekrom snarked back. "Your hero?! This boy is my hero! What are you talking about?!"
Reshiram stilled. He could not sense lies from Zekrom, which meant that it was the truth. But that wasn't possible, was it? Did it mean that this same person is the Hero of both Truth and Ideals?
"Strange," Reshiram commented. "Strange indeed."
Zekrom raised an eyebrow, questioning his brother about his comment.
"You say this is your Hero, and I could not find a lie from your words," Reshiram began and Zekrom would have replied but the dragon cut him off. "But he is my Hero as well."
Zekrom stilled and craned his head to Reshiram. Suddenly, a ripple of portal opened behind them and they saw a dragon with red eyes aggressively staring at them.
"If you're done bickering, then leave the pier at once!"
Zekrom roared as he recognized the dragon, "I am checking out my Hero and his worthiness! You have no right to tell me when to leave, you insolent fool!"
Giratina bellowed as his red eyes glinted dangerously, "I do not appreciate your way of testing his worthiness! You either leave my trainer alone or Arceus forbid, I'll drag you here in the Reverse World and beat you up!"
Reshiram blinked. "Trainer?"
Giratina's eyes flicked towards the white-furred dragon. "Are you sensing any lies from me, Dragon of Truth?"
Reshiram shook his head. "No. That's what baffles me."
Zekrom looked incredulously between the two.
"If it's answers you want, then answers you shall get. Come, join me in the Reverse World."
The two dragons reluctantly accepted the Renegade Pokemon's invitation.
"Would you two like a cup of tea?"
The black Pokemon's turbine whirred blue and with a single swish, the dark clouds disappeared just as the two Pokemon disappeared too. Ash had felt Giratina's presence and figured out that the dragon might have helped resolve the event.
"That was bizarre…" Brock commented as he rushed up to Ash's side. Tracey sighed in exasperation and turned to Brock, "I don't know how you survived traveling with Ash this far. I witnessed one world-ending event and that was it for me."
Misty followed with a teasing smirk on her face, "Not a boring day when you're around, huh, Ash?"
Ash turned to Misty with an equally teasing grin as he said, "Not you saying that when you were complaining how boring and how often we got lost when we travelled together."
Misty's cheeks reddened as she puffed her cheeks and began to banter with Ash. Brock laughed at the antics of the two. He'll definitely miss traveling.
Professor Juniper, the regional Professor of Unova as the trio would learn, soon arrived and drove them to her laboratory at Nuvema Town. Misty had to drag Brock's ears as Brock went on about Professor Juniper's beauty, muttering how she should have insisted Croagunk join them during this vacation. Tracey reminded Brock of Professor Ivy and the former Pewter Gym Leader froze.
"Wow, there are a lot of Pokemon native to Unova – they're so cool!" Ash gushed as he saw flocks of Pidoves, a herd of Deerling, and a group of Patrats as they passed by.
Misty echoed this sentiment, "Yeah! No wonder they're rare!"
Chuckling, Professor Juniper commented, "Well, for one, Kanto Pokemons are rare here in Unova, too. So Pikachu might be getting attention from locals here, too."
Brock nodded in understanding. "Hmm, that's fair, I suppose. There are Pokemons that can only be found in a region, therefore, those Pokemons are rare in other regions but common in the region they belong in."
Tracey added his two cents, "Well, Kanto is far from Unova, so no species could have migrated from one place to another. Kanto and Johto, however, have diverse wildlife and is much nearer to each other so you can see natives of Kanto and Johto interchangeably."
Juniper agreed with his conclusion. "Exactly. Professor Oak really has an affinity in finding interesting and intelligent young minds like yours, Brock, Tracey."
Professor Oak interjected, "Hahaha, I can only hope Aurea. But I'm lucky to only have known Brock and Tracey through Ash. Tracey is a Pokemon watcher, and his sketches are of great detail. On the other hand, Brock's an upcoming Pokemon doctor but his experiences during their travels in Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh had given him quite the insights into Pokemon and the way they should be treated."
"I'm impressed! I assumed you were also one of Professor Oak's assistants, Brock, similar to Tracey. Well, you've got a lot of first-hand experiences that theoretical analysis from universities could not compare so you're well on your way as a Pokemon Doctor, Brock. Let me know if you graduate, okay? And Tracey, show me your sketches some time!" Professor Juniper expressed.
Tracey and Brock blushed from the attention and praise they are getting from both Oak and Juniper, while Delia was just smiling at the sight of seeing her family enjoy the day.
"Hey, look at that! Wow, those are beautiful flying-type Pokemon," Misty expressed as they passed by a flying flock of Swanna.
Juniper took a look and then addressed Misty. "Well, you're in luck Misty! Those are also part water-type!"
Misty's eyes burned with determination.
"Ash, I want to check up on your Pikachu since you mentioned he was zapped by a blue bolt of lightning from a Pokemon, right?" Professor Juniper said as she and Professor Oak tinkered with the apparatus to be used in checking Pikachu's vitals and voltage.
Ash just nodded, nervous for his Pikachu. Juniper proceeded to talk with the group as she and Professor Oak worked with Pikachu.
"You say you saw two large Pokemon, correct? One white and one black?"
Ash nodded, "Yeah! But the rest of them didn't see it really. It was only me and Pikachu who was able to take a glimpse."
"Interesting. Do you have any idea what Pokemon they may be, Professor Juniper?" Oak asked.
Juniper put a finger on her chin. "Vaguely. I remember legends about the dragons of Truth and Ideal. The black electric-type dragon, Zekrom, was the Dragon of Ideals. His white counterpart, his brother, the fire-type Reshiram. It was believed they were once a single Pokemon owned by twin heroes only to split when the brothers argued. Zekrom sided with the brother who pursued ideals, Reshiram sided with truth.
"I don't know if that would be applicable here of if they were truly the ones you saw, that would be interesting."
Seeing that nobody had spoken up after she explained the myth, Professor Juniper was confused. Delia was conflicted while Brock, Misty, and Tracey had a resigned but amused look on their faces. Professor Oak and Ash shared equally excited faces. Misty shook her head, "Oh Professor, it might not be as far-off as you think it is. You see, Ash here…"
The lab assistant of Professor Juniper entered the office and found a lot of people. He concluded these were the Professor's guests. He hated to break the Professor's time with her guests but…
"Professor, there's a trainer starting their journey."
The Professor didn't budge, though. She was confounded.
"Professor?"
Professor Juniper seemed to break away from her trance and said, "Oh, yes. I heard you. The starters, right."
The professor turned to look at the screen and confirmed the Pikachu is in good health.
"Professor, can we join you as you give the trainer their starter?" Ash asked hopefully and Pikachu seemed to be pleading too. It certainly piqued Tracey's interest as they were about to see another native Unovan Pokemon not seen in Kanto.
"Alright, I suppose there's no harm in that!"
"Hmm, so the Hero of Ideals saved the universe from destruction? And you let yourself be captured because of his feats?" Zekrom mused, and a bit proud that his hero was heroic in his ideals indeed.
Reshiram huffed. "Your hero? He's my hero as well, he might have crazy ideals but he is striving for truth!"
"Pfft. Yours? Get over it. He's mine."
"No, mine."
"Mine."
"Mine."
Giratina bellowed. "Enough!"
The two dragons promptly shut up.
"Now, I know deep in my soul—"
"Do you have any, though?" Zekrom blinked.
"Like I said," Giratina growled threateningly, "I know deep in my soul that Ash will inevitably face another world ending event here in Unova or anything near that but as his Pokemon, I am watching him from this world. Now, if he truly is both your hero, would you assist him, once something happens?"
Reshiram promptly nodded. Zekrom, however, loafed around. "Probably."
Exasperated, Giratina accepted this half-hearted agreement.
"Hey, this tea is delicious!"
...well, this possibly is a crack fic. As for Ash being the Hero of both Truth and Ideals, well, that's me trying to make sense why M14 had twin parts.
