Okay, so listen, here's the deal. I've been promising I would explain exactly what's going to be happening from now on, and that's exactly what this update is for.
I'm only doing this because there's a good chance that, given just how different this story is going to be, this is where a lot of people will drop the story.
Let's start with what will probably be the most controversial shift. A problem I identified pretty early on is that the MHA verse just… isn't that strong. The only characters I can think of who might actually be able to beat Peter in a fight are All Might, All For One, current Midoriya, awakened Shigaraki, Overhaul, Stars and Stripes, and Flect Tern, and maybe you could put Gigantomachia on the list. It sounds like a lot, but it really isn't, and that's the problem. There's barely any villains that can actually beat Peter, which means nearly every fight in this story will have pretty low stakes.
At the same time, there's not much power on Peter's side of things aside from him, Toga, and Midoriya, so when it comes down to big, important fights, they're really the only ones that can contribute.
In other words, the power is limited, which, in turn, limits how interesting the fights can be. Setting Peter loose on the MHA verse is like handing a grown man a baseball bat and putting him in a fight against a bunch of kindergarteners.
So, I found the perfect solution to this problem, for both sides. Now, I'm probably gonna lose some people here, so just let me explain before you leave. You're gonna like this one.
I plan on making OC's.
Now hold on, let me finish. I understand that a lot of people (understandably) hate OC's. I myself am not the biggest fan, and I refuse to read any story where an OC is the main character, but I've found a loophole.
I've been very clear before that I don't plan on randomly bringing in other, completely separate Marvel characters. Like, Doctor Doom isn't gonna pull up to conquer the world, and the Hulk won't randomly show up to hang out with Peter. However, I can still use them.
If all I need is stronger people to make the story more interesting every now and then, why not just use the powers?
Essentially, it's an overcomplicated method of using these characters. It wouldn't make sense if they were just in this verse, but there are a lot of Quirks out there. If there just so happens to be somebody who has a power like there's and a pretty similar personality to go with it… you following me?
Basically, imagine a dude with the same powers and personality as John Constantine, but his name is Donnie or something, because John Constantine doesn't exist here.
In other words, they're not even really OC's. They're just Marvel characters who've been given different names to make up for the fact that they wouldn't exist in the MHA verse. I didn't make these people, they're just being ported over. I mean, this is technically a Marvel x MHA crossover, so...
However, there is one stipulation. I'm not using the usual guys. This right here is an opportunity to use some really unknown people and powers and use them in an awesome way. I don't want to just use a "Super-Man" character, a "Captain America" character, and just generally stick with the typical guys. About a year ago, I sat down and researched comic characters with "lame" or obscure powers, like Doorman, the guy who can use his body as a portal between spaces. So, if you want to teleport halfway across the country, you're asking the wrong guy. If you want to go through solid matter, like if you're trapped in a room with no exits, he's your man.
But that's the gist of it. I just found a lot of really obscure or underused characters with "loser powers" that fit this story pretty well, since I'm not just using these guys as villains. The main group is gonna need to expand as they start catching more heat, so, of course, they'll need help.
For the record, I actually learned about Spot and planned to use him a long time ago, way before I saw any trailers for Spider-verse.
Leaving that aside, there are actually a lot of obscure characters with pretty cool abilities, or just mediocre abilities that are useful in very specific situations. Paste-Pot Pete, Infectious Lass, Matter-Eater Lad, Leo Nũnez, Major Disaster (he's my favorite), and the list just goes on.
Now, again, I know a lot of people hate OC's, so I'm promising now that they will not be taking over the story. They're here to support it and make it more interesting, not to become the main focus. That's all I want to go for here, and that's all I'll do.
Moving on to the next thing, obviously, the scale has increased. I've just randomly started talking about other countries as of the last chapter. This was one of the things that's getting ported over from the rewrite. Peter was meant to attract attention, but it would start out small, with a few people casually supporting him. As time went on, he'd have more fans, and when everything went down, they'd still believe in him. That's what's happening here, essentially. But yes, the scale has increased, and this is more or less where it'll stay. And that's one of the bigger reasons for introducing OC's. If the story now spans the entire world, we're gonna need more people. I can't fill a planet with 12 characters.
That's about it. I just wanted to share these details now so that anybody who absolutely hates what they've read here doesn't have to waste their time on any more chapters. These decisions are already made, my plans are already in place, and I've already started implementing them, so there's no changing it now.
We've finished the first phase. I honestly don't know how much longer this story will go for. I have a rough idea of everything else I want to happen, I'm just not sure how long it will take to get through it all.
Just as an off-hand guess, if I had to throw up a number, I would say there'll probably be 20-30 more chapters, but the number might be higher. Again, I really don't know. Whatever the number ends up being, we still have a long way to go.
Thank you for sticking with me up to now, as we close out on the first part of this story. I'll see you all for Part 2.
Aren signing off.
