Authors notes: So that took only about a year and 9 months. Sorry for the long wait everyone, I'm just not good at conveying what I'm trying to say into word format, that and I accidentally deleted the original chapter 5 and had to start all over. I hope you enjoy the new chapter and please leave your reviews as always.
The Slayer had returned to his home. He entered to find Reine of all people waiting for him.
"Listen, I don't know who you are, why you're here but I'm warning you. Shin cares about the spirits and wants to save them all. If you're going to kill them, than you're no better than Westcott himself. If you get in the way of Shin's mission, I will personally stop you myself"
She had threatened him and left. A surprised and scared women with blonde hair watched her leave in a hurry. The blonde haired women composed herself and stepped in shortly after.
Karen: "Hello there MR.Doomslayer-San. My name is Karen Mathers. I am a representative from Ratatoskr. I have come with a special message from our leader who couldn't be here today. He wanted to welcome a special individual like you into our organization. He even got you a gift."
She slapped a device onto his armor that began to conducts sparks around the chest plate and make his armor glow and change shape to skin?
"Do you like it? It's a special cloaking device we made for you. It scanned your body and is making your armor reflect as… as well you"
She held up a mirror to reveal him. He had felt his face to still feel his helmet but it looked like he wasn't wearing it.
"I hope you like it, now I have to go before I miss my flight. Have a wonderful day and I look forward to working with you." She also left in a hurry.
Vega: "It appears that you can walk amongst the civilians freely. Although you will stand out being a 6FT tall Caucasian man and all."
The Slayer looked into the mirror and scowled. It appears that this technology was so advanced that his fake face could mirror his actual one. He decided to go for a walk around the city to see what was going on. He exited the park as all his homeless friends complimented him on his armor less form.
Our rage filled hero walked down the street as everyone stared at him. People were wondering who this tall foreigner was. Men looked at him jealous, women fawned over him and the animals all feared him.
V: "It would appear that we have drawn more attention to ourselves like this than with the armor. Perhaps we should try to keep a low profile. Don't do anything that would make you stand out."
Just as Vega said that, two men carrying a comedically large piece of glass walked in front of the Slayer as he in turn walked straight through the glass with no hesitation or sign of discomfort. Those who were impressed began to gather around him and take pictures and challenge him to bouts of strength.
V: "it appears that I spoke too soon, perhaps we should leave this place."
The Slayer entered the first building he could find. He looked around and found that he was surrounded by swimsuits, lots of swimsuits. The women in the store looked at him with fearful, blushing faces. He looked around and saw Shido? He approached the young man who was deep in thought. He touched his shoulder as Shido let out a scream and jumped into the air.
S: "Ahh who are you?!!!". His ear piece made some noise. "Wait it's you?! You look so- different."
He looked at the man in front of him and took in his presence. Shido finally saw the armored behemoth in his natural state for the first time. Shido couldn't help but feel a little jealous. This man was taller and more muscular than him. "Maybe he should be the one who saves the spirits" Shido though to himself.
Tohka: "Shido are you ok?!" Tohka had opened through the curtain to the boys surprise to reveal herself in a swimsuit.
Shido's heart began to pound at the sight. Origami also revealed herself to reveal hers as well. This went on for some time as they showed him different suits. The slayer had no idea what was going but it appears that it had to do with Shido rating their clothes.
Yoshino: "Help!" They heard a scream from one of the changing rooms.
Shido: "Yoshino? Alright I'm coming in-" he opened the curtain to find the young girl in a very peculiar situation as her swimsuit was all over the place and causing a real scene.
Yoshino: "No. don't look" She said with a bright red face.
Shido had no words but Reine did.
Reine: "We have a winner"
Shido sighed in defeat but than yelped in fear as he heard the sound of a shotgun being loaded with malicious intent behind him.
After that whole fiasco, the group went their separate ways but Yoshino decided to stay with the Slayer for a bit.
Yoshino: "Shido isn't a bad guy. He's really nice to me and cooks me delicious food. So please don't hurt him"
The young girl pleaded with him as they walked. Although Shido was a good person, that wouldn't stop the Slayer from delivering judgment onto him if he ever hurt Yoshino but why? Why did he feel this way about a random girl he had just met in some random world he knew nothing about? Was it because she reminded him of Daisy?
She ran up to a window and looked inside. He followed suit and saw a large array of different pastries. This must have been a bakery and Yoshino looked like she really wanted some cake too. Perhaps he could- No he couldn't. He didn't have any money at all. He truly was a homeless man, no home, no money and everyone looked at him funny. If only the sentinels could see him now. They would invade Tengu city and claim it as their own so that their king could live a luxurious life. His train of thought was lost when he heard the door open.
Old lady: "would you like some cake dear?" The bluette violently shook her head as the Slayer put a hand on it to keep it from flying off. "Then come right in~"
They followed her inside. It was a fairly decent looking shop. It wasn't big but it wasn't small either. There were tables for people to sit down and eat and paintings of environments up on the wall. They continued through the store as she lead them to a back room with a more well decorated table.
"You sit right here and I'll be right back."
The women left them alone as they sat there in silence. Yoshino looked at the man before her in curiosity. Before he was a giant metal man but now but now he was just a man. Although he was still scary looking, she could see a deep sadness within his eyes. Even through all the rage, she could see it clear as day, like when she would look into her own eyes in the mirror. Perhaps even the strongest people can feel sadness but what could have made someone strong like him feel that way?
The old woman came back and placed a slice of cake on the table for each of them.
"Here you go dearies, enjoy". Yoshino began to dig into the cake, she paused for a few seconds and shivered a bit until she exploded upward with a thumbs up. The old lady chuckled and Slayer almost smiled. "Your daughter is very adorable mister, you're so lucky to be blessed with her".
"Daughter" The bluenette and Slayer thought in unison as they both looked at each other in unison with a look of being lost in thought. Yoshino thought about having a father since she didn't have one herself. Meanwhile, the Slayers thoughts were more… doubtful. It wasn't that he wouldn't want to have Yoshino as a daughter, it's that he already had the chance to be a father and a husband and pet owner he let them all die to the demons. Someone like him didn't deserve a family anymore.
Yoshino could see it even clearer now, the sadness in his eyes. Did he have a daughter before? If so what had happened to her to make him have such a sad look?
After thanking the old lady they had left. The Slayer had walked Yoshino home and went about his way but he didn't return home though. He made his way to the quarry outside of town and began to punch the rocks. One by one they would break to the fury of first. This would continue until the sun began to rise, to reveal the Slayer surrounded by a mountain of dust and pebbles from his night of anger. A new dawn has embraced the world and a new day with it but would these days ever truly matter to someone like him?
Epilogue:
Westcott was in his lab running diagnostics on his newest project. He typed away furiously and stared at the screen like it was the only thing in the world. Ellen stared at him feeling uncomfortable with how absorbed he was with is work.
Ellen: "Ike, are you alright?" She asked him with concern.
Westcott: "I'm fine dear, I'm just working on a new exciting realizer. I had received a generous donation and began to work on it immediately. Don't worry, this will be well worth the effort" She smiled at his explanation and continued on with her work.
Westcott finished his current work and logged it before signing out. "Project Argent".
