Willow – Taylor Swift

I'm like the water when your ship rolled in the night.

Rough on the surface but you cut through like a knife

And if it was an open/shut case

I never would've known from that look on your face.

Lost in your current like a priceless wine.

The more that you say

The less I know

Wherever you stray

I follow

I'm begging for you to take my hand

Wreck my plans

That's my man

Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind

Head on the pillow I could feel you sneaking in.

As if you were a mythical thing

Like you were a throphy or a champion ring

And there was one prize I'd cheat to win.

The more that you say

The less I know

Wherever you stray

I follow

I'm begging for you to take my hand

Wreck my plans

That's my man

You know that my train can take you home.

Anywhere else is hollow

I'm begging for you to take my hand

Wreck my plans

That's my man

Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind

They count me out time and time again.

Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind

But I come back stronger than a 90's trend

Wait for the signal and I'll meet you after dark.

Show me the places where the others gave you scars.

Now this is an open/shut case

I guess I should've known from the look on your face

Every bait and switch was a work of art.

The more that you say

The less I know

Wherever you stray

I follow

I'm begging for you to take my hand

Wreck my plans

That's my man

You know that my train can take you home.

Anywhere else is hollow

I'm begging for you to take my hand

Wreck my plans

That's my man

Well, Lady Trowbridge's balls were certainly the ones to shock. Unfortunately, they were a little too low on gossip for that very reason. Penelope relied to certain extent on the gossip to enjoy the ball as she was rarely asked to dance. Although she pitied Marina right now having to dance with her current partner. Not only was he old enough to be her Grandfather but he was not a particularly good dancer.

"Our host looks a bit fussy." Colin was here. "Do you think if he goes to bed, we have to leave?" Witty as usual. It was a bit in bad taste for a mother to have her baby son at a function like this. "It's lucky the lady produced an heir before the old Earl croaked, no?" That was a good point.

"Lucky indeed. But do you not think the boy bears a passing resemblance to Lady Trowbridge's footman?" She didn't recall any redheads on either side of the Trowbridge family. And the child certainly didn't resemble his mother.

"Penelope! What a barb!" She had managed to both shock and amuse Colin Bridgerton. With so much eye contact she completely forgot about Marina. Nobody looked at her the way Colin did. Almost as though he was interested in what she had to say. She could almost believe it meant more. "I've tried to get in front of Miss Thompson all night." So much for forgetting about Marina. "Surely she cannot be interested in Lord Rutledge, can she?" Nobody was interested in Lord Rutledge. That was part of the problem. If he had other options he would have been wed by now.

"I think the only thing Miss Thompson is interested in is a swift rescue, indeed." As any woman would be. They were barely dancing. It was more a case of Lord Rutledge flinging Marina around the dance floor. And this was their second dance.

"I believe you are right." Just when she was enjoying bathing in the glory of Colin's presence, he was off to save/dance with another woman.

"Oh, Colin, I did not mean…." Well done, Penelope. You finally get some attention from the man of your dreams and you point him in the direction of another woman and give him a shove. For someone who kept quiet around people, she did make a habit of saying too much around Colin Bridgerton. She really needed to work on that.
