Falling Fast – Avril Lavigne
I woke up and saw the sun today
You came by without a warning
You put a smile on my face
I want that for every morning
What is it I'm feeling?
'Cause I can't let it go
If seeing is believing
Then I already know
I'm fallin' fast
I hope this lasts
I'm falling hard for you
I say, let's take a chance
Take it while we can
I know you feel it too
I'm fallin, fast
I'm fallin' fast
Doesn't matter what we do
You make everything seem brighter
I never knew I needed you
Like a sad song needs a sea of lighters
What is it I'm feeling?
'Cause I can't let it go
If seeing is believing
Then I already know
I'm fallin' fast
I hope this lasts
I'm falling hard for you
I say, let's take a chance
Take it while we can
I know you feel it too
I'm fallin, fast
I'm fallin' fast
I hope you know, I hope it lasts
I'm fallin' hard, I'm fallin' fast
We can go, no holding back (For you)
I hope you know, I hope it lasts
I'm fallin' hard, I'm fallin' fast
We can go, no holding back (For you)
I'm fallin' fast
I hope this lasts
I'm falling hard for you
I say, let's take a chance
Take it while we can
I know you feel it too
I'm fallin, fast
I'm fallin' fast
I wait to be announced by the butler and can't help but be relieved that there are no other suitors waiting for an audience with Marina. Especially since the Featherington drawing room had been filled with poet spouting suitors after the first ball of the season. "Mr Colin Bridgerton for Miss Thompson."
I dutifully hand over the flowers I have brought with me. "Oh Mr Bridgerton these are beautiful." I had been careful with my selection to ensure that the bouquet would last as possible. Some of the flowers buds had yet to open.
"I applaud you Miss Thompson. I bring you flowers on each of my visits and yet you react with admirable surprise every time." It was always a delight to receive such a reaction. The only person who seemed delighted to see me was usually Penelope. "I shall need to bring you something unexpected. A bushel of tomatoes perhaps."
"Marina hates tomatoes." I had completely forgotten Penelope was in the room with us. She was always so quiet.
"That is untrue. I love tomatoes." I am uncertain if Marina is just saying that to be polite or not. The look she has just shot Pen makes me wonder if I am missing something.
"Colin, you know where I have heard you can get excellent tomatoes? Greece." I had mentioned to Pen a few times how much I wanted to travel. She was such a good listener that I find myself telling her all manner of things. "Perhaps you could bring back a tomato plant for Miss Thompson as a souvenir when you return from your travels this year."
"I am uncertain of my travels at the moment, Pen." It was true, I had planned to do a lot of travelling but now I wasn't so certain I wanted to leave London just yet.
"Oh but you were so keen to travel." She is right. I was, but things had changed and why is Penelope so eager for me to leave the country?
"It is true. But were I to go, there may be things in London I should miss even more than seeing the world." Marina seems happy at my delaying my travels, but out of the corner of my eye I catch Penelope's expression. She looks devastated and for the life of me I can not work out why. Marina says something and I forget why it could be important for me to question Penelope's reaction.
