Every Heartbeat – Amy Grant
Hear me speak what's on my mind
Let me give this testimony
Reaffirm that you will find
That you are my one and only
No exception to this rule
I'm simple but I'm no fool
I've got a witness happy to say
Every hour, every day
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
My red blood runs true blue.
And every heartbeat belongs to you
Classic case of boy meets girl
Moving in the same direction
You're not asking for perfection
Just a love that's well designed
For passing the test of time
I'm here to tell you
I'm here to stay
Every hour, every day
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
Ask anyone and they'll tell you it's true
Every heartbeat belongs to you
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
My red blood runs true blue
And every heartbeat belongs to you
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Yeah, sure maybe I'm on the edge
But I love you baby and like I said
I'm here to tell you
I'm here to stay
Every hour, every day
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
Ask anyone and they'll tell you it's true
Every heartbeat belongs to you
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
My red blood runs true blue
And every heartbeat belongs to you
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
And every heartbeat belongs to you
Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
Ask anyone and they'll tell you it's true
Every heartbeat belongs to you
She always looked forward to Viscountess Bridgerton's hearts and flowers ball. The Bridgerton family came together for the weekend and it was nice to be treated as though one was a much loved member of the Bridgerton family. Once she had been greeted by Viscountess Bridgerton and the Duchess of Hastings who pointed out where Eloise and Colin were talking together, she hurried to join her two favourite Bridgertons.
"Oh Pen! Oh, you're finally here." Eloise would have been happy to never have debuted this season or any other. But since she had to, she was happy to have Penelope for company. "With only my own family to speak to I've begun talking to the trees." She was certain that was an exaggeration. Eloise could tend to be overly dramatic sometimes.
"Is she calling me wooden?" Colin appeared more amused than offended by his sister's comment. Obviously, he was immune to his sister's dramatics.
"I do not think so." She couldn't help but share his amusement.
"I could call him much worse." Eloise was very matter of fact. Not that this was news to either Colin or Penelope.
"Is there not another pamphlet on women's rights to read somewhere?" Clearly there was a limit to Colin's patience with his trying sister.
"Elle is quite done with that I take it." Or so she hoped. It wasn't just her identity as Lady Whistledown she wanted to protect. Eloise tended to ask too many questions which caught the attention of the wrong people.
"She has brought one with her here. Prepare yourself for many a quotation, Pen." Judging from his tone and expression, he had already his share of quotes.
"The Printer's pamphlet?" This wasn't good. "I thought you'd realised he was not connected to Lady Whistledown. Those letter K's have not been smudged for some time now." She had gone to a lot of trouble to ensure that and someone had spotted her. Thankfully, that someone would keep quiet.
"I am just as much interested in their new letters now. It is a rather radical publication, which is why I seem to like it so much." She had no problem with Eloise's beliefs and convictions, but this sounded as though she was just asking for trouble. "The apprentice there, Mr Theo Sharpe – "
"You know his name?" This was worse than she thought. "Don't you think you're getting into dangerous waters Elle? That side of town." She had been that side of town often enough herself, but she understood her place in society. Eloise couldn't seem to grasp how privileged she was.
"I tried to dissuade her from it. Perhaps you can convince her while I am gone today." While she was thrilled that Colin thought that highly of her opinion that he considered her able to change Eloise's mind, she had been hoping to spend some time with him as well. Besides, once Eloise's mind was made up, no one could change it.
"Where are you going?" She was about to enquire after that herself. It was better coming from Eloise.
"Are you joining the men on the hunt?" That would make sense, but it didn't really seem something Colin would be interested in.
"I am not. I have decided to pay your cousin a visit, in fact." Oh what on earth for? She had delivered the baby. Babies in fact. She had twins. She was married now.
"Marina?" Perhaps it was another cousin. Though she couldn't see the point of that either.
"Miss Thompson? I rather think I am not the only one getting into dangerous waters." Although Eloise did not seem the least bit concerned.
"Eloise. Penelope." Lady Violet's appearance was the perfect escape for Colin. Penelope could only hope that Colin's visit with Marina would provide him some closure. "I think you will find we have much to offer the young ladies today." That seemed highly unlikely in Eloise's case as she was quite determined not to enjoy herself.
As for Penelope, she could not shake this sense of dread that had come across her. What good could come of Colin visiting Marina? Perhaps she could question him at dinner.
