Shape of my Heart – Backstreet Boys
Baby, please try to forgive me
Stay here don't put out the glow
Hold me now, don't bother
If every minute it makes me weaker
You can save me from the man that I've become, oh yeah
Looking back on the things I've done
I was trying to be someone
I played my part, kept you in the dark
Now let me show you the shape of my heart
Sadness is beautiful, loneliness that's tragical
So help me, I can't win this war oh no
Touch me now, don't bother
If every second it makes me weaker
You can save me from the man I've become
Looking back on the things I've done
I was trying to be someone (trying)
I played my part, kept you in the dark (in the dark)
Now let me show you the shape of my heart
I'm here with my confession
Got nothing to hide no more
I don't know where to start
But to show you the shape of my heart
I'm lookin' back on things I've done
I never wanna play the same old part
I'll keep you in the dark (keep you in the dark)
Now let me show you the shape of my heart
Looking back on the things I've done
I was trying to be someone (trying to be someone)
I played my part, kept you in the dark
Now let me show you the shape of my heart (now let me show you the shape of my heart)
Looking back on the things I've done
I was trying to be someone
I played my part, kept you in the dark
Now let me show you the shape of my heart.
The Hearts and flowers ball. The entire weekend when the Bridgertons played host to the Ton. Colin had made plans to at least escape some of it, if only to avoid hearing another rant from Eloise over something she had read in some pamphlet she had picked up.
It was a relief to see Penelope arrive. Not only would she take on Eloise's latest endeavour, but she looked so sweet running down the hill to greet them. Not to mention she was quite becoming in green.
"Oh Pen! Oh, you're finally here. With only my own family to speak to. I've begun talking to the trees." That was his sister. Blurting out the first thing that came to mind, regardless of who she was with.
"Is she calling me wooden?" At least Penelope seemed to appreciate his company.
"I do not think so." As always Penelope found such joy amongst members of his family. He sometimes wondered what it was like with her own family that she felt the need to always seek out his. Not that he minded.
"I could call him much worse." And she had. Frequently.
"Is there not another pamphlet on women's rights to read somewhere?" Eloise had always been a handful, but lately she had become incredibly trying.
"Elle is quite done with that I take it." There was something hopeful about the way Penelope said it. Not for the first time, he wondered if there was something else going on between the two women.
"She has brought one with her here. Prepare yourself for many a quotation, Pen." He had certainly heard enough to last a lifetime. But he couldn't in good conscious burden Penelope with his sister's rantings without at least warning her.
"The Printer's pamphlet? I thought you'd realised he was not connected to Lady Whistledown." At least Penelope seemed to agree with him that Eloise's latest obsession had gotten out of hand. "Those letter K's have not been smudged for some time now." Now he was a little lost.
"I am just as much interested in their new letters now. It is a rather radical publication, which is why I seem to like it so much." This was beginning to sound as though Eloise was getting herself into even more trouble than usual. And Penelope looked quite destressed about it as well. "The apprentice there, Mr Theo Sharpe-"
"You know his name?" Pen had said exactly what he had been thinking. Were he and his brothers going to have to pay Mr Sharpe a visit? "Don't you think you're getting into dangerous waters Elle? That side of town?" How did Penelope know about that side of town?
"I tried to dissuade her from it." It was like talking to a brick wall. "Perhaps you can convince her while I am gone today." He could trust Penelope to be the voice of reason. He just couldn't trust Eloise to listen.
"Where are you going?" Of course that would be the part Eloise listened to.
"Are you joining the men on the hunt?" He couldn't lie to Penelope, although it would have been a good cover for where he was really going. Providing of course that no one questioned his brothers if he had been with them.
"I am not. I have decided to pay your cousin a visit, in fact." He became a little alarmed when Penelope turned even more pale than usual.
"Marina?" What other cousin did she think he would be visiting? He only knew of one other and her cousin Jack had attended this weekend with the Featherington women.
"Miss Thompson? I rather think I am not the only one getting into dangerous waters." Eloise seemed to find this amusing while Penelope looked as though she was going to lose her breakfast.
"Eloise. Penelope." His mother provided the perfect distraction for him to make a discreet getaway. Besides, Penelope looked as though she was going to try and talk him out of the visit. But this was something he felt the need to do. "I think you will find we have much to offer the young ladies today."
He knew that Penelope would try and enjoy herself, if only for his mother's sake. Eloise on the other hand would not even try. He was happy to not attend any events today.
