Until You – Shayne Ward
Baby, life was good to me, but you just made it better
I love the way you stand by me through any kind of weather
I don't wanna run away, just wanna make your day
When you feel the world is on your shoulders
I don't wanna make it worse, just wanna make us work
Baby, tell me I will do whatever
It feels like nobody ever knew me until you knew me
Feels like nobody ever loved me until you loved me
Feels like nobody ever touched me until you touched me
Baby, nobody, nobody until you
Baby, it just took one hit of you now I'm addicted
You never know what's missing till you get everything you needed
I don't wanna run away, just wanna make your day
When you feel the world is on your shoulders
I don't wanna make it worse, just wanna make us work
Baby, tell me I will do whatever
It feels like nobody ever knew me until you knew me
Feels like nobody ever loved me until you loved me
Feels like nobody ever touched me until you touched me
Baby, nobody, nobody until you
See it was enough to know, if I ever let you go
I would be no one
'Cause I never though I'd feel all the things you made me feel
Wasn't looking for someone, oh, until you
It feels like nobody ever knew me until you knew me
Feels like nobody ever loved me until you loved me
Feels like nobody ever touched me until you touched me
Baby, nobody, nobody until you
Lady Crane had given him a lot to think on. Some of it good and some, not so much. Although he felt she had been more blunt than necessary. He had enjoyed his conversations with Lord Crane, who seemed a pleasant and understanding fellow, but Lady Crane's parting comments had left him with a bitter taste in his mouth.
"Colin! We ah missed you at the ball last night." Penelope. Always a bright spot in his day and not just due to her wardrobe. It was nice to know he had been missed by someone. She was a good friend.
"Yes. I fear I was not feeling up to it." Nor had he wished for his Mother to be parading single women in his path every few minutes. It was a wonder she hadn't been pushing Penelope in his direction since they were constantly together usually with Eloise in their company.
"After seeing Marina." Why did she wince when she spoke Marina's name? "How is she, Colin?"
"She is … content." He had no other way of describing her manner. Also, he did not want to concern Penelope.
"Good. I am glad." Relief crossed her pretty face. "Perhaps seeing her was what you needed. To leave the past behind. To no longer feel the need to foreswear women." She said it in jest, but was that hope he saw in her expressive eyes?
"Lady Crane said she was content, but I can not help but feel like …" He felt a sense of guilt over how he had initially reacted to her deception. "Well, we were all so hard on her. Myself included. Perhaps if Lady Whistledown hadn't rushed to print her gossip, things may have turned out differently for her. For all of us, in fact. But, I suppose, there is no use dwelling in the past." Marina had made it clear she was not interested in keeping him company in the past. She had been right about Penelope though. "I am, indeed, thinking of the future. Pardon me, Pen." He needed to mull things over on his own for now though.
Now all he had to do was figure out what his future held. What his purpose was. If Penelope knew that Marina had spoken to him of her feelings for him, he did not read it in her expression. And he had always been able to read her expression. How had he not realised this before?
He spotted his mother at the other end of the banquet hall, and he realised that Penelope was not the only one who had missed him last night. However his mother's reasons were completely different to Penelope's. He was not going to hear the end of this in the near future.
