When You Got a Good Thing – Lady Antebellum

Everybody keeps telling me I'm such a lucky man

Lookin' at you standin' there I know I am

Barefooted beauty with eyes that blue

Sunshine sure looks good on you

I swear

Oh I can't believe I finally found you baby

Happy ever after, after all this time

Oh there's gonna be some ups and downs

But with you to wrap my arms around

I'm fine

So baby, hold on tight

Don't let go

Hold onto the love we're making

Cause baby when the ground starts shakin'

You gotta know when you've got a good thing

You know you keep on bringin' out the best in me

And I need you now even more than the air I breathe

You can make me laugh when I wanna cry

This will last forever I just know, I know

So baby, hold on tight

Don't let go

Hold onto the love we're making

Cause baby when the ground starts shakin'

You gotta know when you've got a good thing

We got a good thing, baby whoa

So hold on tight

Baby, don't let go

Hold onto the love we're making

Cause baby when the ground starts shakin'

You gotta know, oh you gotta know

Oh you gotta know, you gotta know

When you got a good thing

Good grief this was tedious. The Queen had really jumped in the deep end over this wedding. It didn't help that Eloise would not stop going on about something she had read in a pamphlet. He had stopped listening to her ages ago. Then a familiar and welcoming flash of yellow caught the corner of his eye.

"It is a wonder I have found the two of you in the midst of all this opulence, is it not?" Clever Penelope, using a big word to describe the ostentatiousness of their surroundings without making it sound insulting. There were many a watering eye in the building that wasn't the result of the emotional day but more from the sheer volume of flowers surrounding them. The perfume from those alone was overpowering.

"Quite. Her Majesty's fondness for the diamond exceeds even what Lady Whistledown suggests." Clearly Eloise was not impressed, but then it took a lot to impress his sister who constantly ignored how privileged she was compared to many others. "Daphne's was not nearly as extraordinary, and she married a Duke." It was difficult to tell if she was complementing their siblings or insulting them.

"Perhaps the Queen requires our attention in new ways." As always Penelope provided some enlightening conversation instead of judgement. "The weight of the Crown is quite heavy. Perhaps she seeks to prove herself still significant and equal to the task." He hadn't thought of it from that point of view in regards to the Queen. It was one of the many things he liked about Penelope. She made him think.

"Is that not the plight of all mankind?" He was ignoring the faces that Eloise was pulling. Penelope had known some hardship. Her opinion was more important to him at this moment.

"I believe it is." She always looked at him as though he was the most intelligent man in the world. Even though he knew he wasn't, it still gave his ego a boost.

"Do not indulge him. He has been insufferable ever since returning from Greece. Or was it your visit with Lady Crane?" He couldn't help but notice that his sister's barb hit Penelope more directly than him. And if anything Eloise had become more insufferable since entering society.

"The cause does not matter nearly as much as the truth." There was some satisfaction in how his words irritated his sister. "One must make a name for oneself if this life is to mean anything at all."

"A noble pursuit." Clearly she was both impressed by his comment and yet amused by Eloise's reaction to most things he said these days.

"Thank you Pen." He couldn't resist another verbal jab at his sister. "It is surprising that you and Eloise remain so familiar when you could not be less alike." Thank goodness. Penelope's company was much more favourable than his sister's these days.

"What can you mean?" He should have chosen his words more carefully. He had no wish to insult her. Quite the opposite. She made these events more bearable to attend.

"You have sense." He excused himself before Eloise could retort therefore irritating her further by not allowing her to have the last word. Not before he caught the amusement on Penelope's face though. He could feel her eyes on him as he spoke to other guests. It warmed his heart to see the blush creep across her cheeks when he smiled at her. He was a lucky man indeed to have such a friend.
