Nirvana – Adam Lambert
When the stars are too cold
Frozen all over the globe
On the edge of the night
We can be their light
So give me more than your touch
And give yourself to the rush
Just keep holding my hand
As we're taking off
I know where we'll land
We can escape to a higher place
In Nirvana state
Where the dreamers lay
I'll lay you down, lay you down
Safe on a higher plane
In Nirvana state
Where the dreamers lay
I'll lay you down, lay you down
Through the dark there's a way
There's a love, there's a place
Where we don't have to hide
We can dream all night
So follow me through the sky
And watch the oceans collide
Just keep holding my hand
As we're taking off
I know where we'll land
We can escape to a higher plane
In Nirvana state
Where the dreamers lay
I'll lay you down, lay you down
Safe on a higher plane
In Nirvana state
Where the dreamers lay
I'll lay you down, lay you down
Oh, we don't need diamonds or gold
Watch the mystic and cryptic unfold
As we fly high
We can escape to a higher plane
In Nirvana state
Where the dreamers lay
I'll lay you down, lay you down
Safe on a higher plane
In Nirvana state
Where the dreamers lay
I'll lay you down, lay you down
Yeah I'll lay you down, lay you down
I'll lay you down, lay you down
His purpose for visiting the Featherington residence, had been to speak to Lord Featherington. But now he was there he hoped to run into Penelope. Almost as though he had conjured her up with his thoughts, she appeared in the doorway. Her smile as bright as the yellow dress she wore but so much more becoming.
"Will you see me out?" He could have easily waited for the butler to show him out, but Penelope's company was much more preferable.
"I did not know you fancied yourself an investor." She must have caught the tail end of his conversation with Lord Featherington.
"No. Even I did not. Yet, I am beginning to think differently." He wasn't certain that he had found his purpose, but this could be profitable in the meantime. "I know it is a large sum to risk, but I am sorely tempted. It is a chance to make a name for myself, as your cousin has done. And once our profits come, both our families will benefit, which is just what makes it so enticing."
She seemed surprised. "You think highly of my family?" Well, perhaps not her whole family, but certainly Penelope.
"I am not in the habit of consorting with those I hold in low esteem." Her sweet smile warmed his heart, but also saddened him a little. Was Penelope so used to being overlooked that she couldn't tell when someone thought highly of her?
"I never thought of it like that." It was as though he had handed the world to her on a silver platter.
"I understand. Our relationship has taken shape so naturally over the years, one could take it for granted." He had, which he had only just realised. "You have always been so constant and loyal Pen."
Her face fell. "I do not believe I deserve such praise for my loyalty." She looked uncomfortable with his praise.
"Does something trouble you?" What had he said that had chased her smile away?
"No, not at all." She seemed to shake off whatever was troubling her and smiled again, be it a little less brighter.
"Oh, I almost forgot. Perhaps I might rely on your loyalty one last time." He knew he need not ask. One thing he could be certain of was Pen's loyalty. "Until this agreement with your cousin is confirmed, I do not wish for word to get back to Antony. Could you avoid telling anyone? Especially Eloise." Penelope and Eloise were as close as sisters. Although he could not bring himself to look at her as sisterly. "I know there are no secrets between you two, but-"He caught the uncomfortable look cross her face again.
"Mr Bridgerton. I did not know we had a caller today." Any opportunity to question Penelope on what was truly bothering her, was interrupted by Portia Featheringtons entrance.
"Miss Penelope was just seeing me out." No need for Portia to focus on Penelope being alone with him. "While I have been talking her to death about matters so foolish I'd have blushed to share them with anyone else." Time to make a quick getaway. Nodding good bye he reluctantly left Penelope and headed home.
