Chocolate - Kylie Minogue

Fragile, seems like I opened up too quick

And all my dreams were woken up

I slowly lost my fight

With every single man a river cried

I had no sensation

Completely numb I felt no satisfaction

I thought no one could ever get me high again.

I swear, I was not looking

Ooh, I've waited so long,

I thought the real thing was a fake

I thought it was a tool to break me down

You proved me wrong again

If love were liquid it would drown me

In a placeless place refine me

In a heart shape come around me

And then melt me slowly down

If love were human it would know me,

In a lost space come and show me

Hold me and control me

And then melt me slow down

Like chocolate

Tastes so good, my hearts been mended

Who'd have thought it would

An empty bed and still I won the catch

A man who I love and who loves me back

Oooh, I've waited so long

For love to heal me, so I'd feel it

Thought it wasn't real and then you come

You prove me wrong again

If love were liquid it would drown me

In a placeless place refine me

In a heart shape come around me

And then melt me slowly down

If love were human it would know me,

In a lost space come and show me

Hold me and control me

And then melt me slow down

Like chocolate

If love were liquid it would drown me

In a placeless place refine me

In a heart shape come around me

And then melt me slowly down

If love were human it would know me,

In a lost space come and show me

Hold me and control me

And then melt me slow down

Like chocolate

Come here, zoom in catch the smile

There's no doubt it's for you

And I'm addicted tonight

Just one look boy to mellow it out

Just one heart here to save me now

Your candy kisses are sweet I know

Hold me tight baby, don't let go

Just one look boy to mellow it out

Just one heart here to save me now

Your candy kisses are sweet I know

Hold me tight baby, don't let go

If love were liquid it would drown me

In a placeless place refine me

In a heart shape come around me

And then melt me slowly down

If love were human it would know me,

In a lost space come and show me

Hold me and control me

And then melt me slow down

Like chocolate

If love were liquid it would drown me

In a placeless place refine me

In a heart shape come around me

And then melt me slowly down

If love were human it would know me,

In a lost space come and show me

Hold me and control me

And then melt me slow down

It had seemed like forever since he had last seen her. Although she was there waiting for him when he closed his eyes at night and had been ever since they had kissed. Now here he was hoping to catch even a glimpse of her. Then there she was as if his mind had conjured her up. His heart skipped when she discreetly gestured him over to a nearby tent.

"Pretend to be loitering for sweets, so no one suspects we are speaking together." He didn't want to pretend anyone. But he also knew that she wanted to protect him and his family from further gossip. And if it allowed him to be able to spend time in her company, then he could pretend a little longer.

"Of course. How are you?" It had been agonising not being able to ensure that she was alright. He had always felt protective towards Penelope, but now he was wondering if it had always been more.

"I am well. Surprisingly well." That was a relief to hear. "Colin, Lord Debling has shown an interest in me." That wasn't a surprise. Anyone with a brain could see how enchanting she was.

"It looked that way at Stowell House." He knew very little about Lord Debling, but if he had noticed how special Penelope was, then he definitely had some merit.

"Your lessons worked." All three of them. "I was feeling low." That was the last thing he wanted. "In fact, it somehow allowed me to stop caring so much about how I am perceived, and … I was simply myself."

"Do you feel some attachment to him?" Was it possible to be happy for her, but also disappointed?

"It is early." So he still had time. "But he does seem to have a strength of character. He is not unpleasant to gaze upon." He guessed it depended on what you were looking for. "Thank you." He watched as she paid for a cake. Mesmerised as she sucked the sugar from her fingers and licked her lips. He hadn't realised he was staring and she didn't not how provocative she was. "Do I have sugar on my face?"

"No. Umm.." The places his mind was going as her tongue ran across her lower lip. "You removed it." That vision was going to have a starring role in his dreams tonight.

"Wish me luck." She looked so happy and with her cheeks flushed with excitement, it left him wishing it were he that brought that glow to her angelic face.

"Good luck." It took some effort to sound as though he meant it.

Still he couldn't help watching her interact with Lord Debling. She seemed to be holding her own against Cressida Cowper even with Eloise also present. Things turned a little disastrous when the hot air balloon tried to escape heading straight for Penelope.

Without thinking he tossed his coat to someone and grabbed a rope. "Help me!" He didn't care who joined him as long as they held on. His heart lodged in his throat when Penelope realised she was in danger and tripped running out of the way. "Pull!"

Lord Debling threw himself over Penelope just as Colin jerked the rope pulling it back. Annoyingly the balloonist jumped into the basket and yelled at them to let go. Where had the man been when the balloon had surged towards Penelope?

As the balloon sailed into the air and eligible women flocked around him, he glanced over at Penelope to make sure she wasn't hurt. Locking eyes he saw she was shaken but unhurt. Lord Debling was assisting Cressida Cowper leaving Penelope alone once again.

He barely registered the women around him. His focus was on the lone redhead who had stolen his heart while he was not looking. It took everything in him not to walk over to her and pull her into his arms to reassure himself she was indeed safe. But this was not the time.
