Boku no Hero Academia: Custodian Izuku
Disclaimer: This is a crossover fanfiction story of 'Boku no Hero Academia' and 'Warhammer 40k' (yes, really). I own nothing of the two series other than the fanfiction stories that I make.
I am making this story for the sake of fun, fluff and awesome after writing a one-shot story of the same story concept. If I am able to somehow impress fans of Warhammer 40k or even move someone to tears, even better.
Also, if anyone wants to know how in the world I got this idea in the first place, please refer to the artist, Ryuusei (Mark II), who has made some awesome pictures of gender-bent primarchs. The link is: .us/pools/17320
Please note that while I am familiar with the Warhammer 40k setting, my actual knowledge of it is casual at best. Also, if the genderbent primarchs seem at least a bit OOC, please kindly consider the fact that their bodies (especially the traitor primarchs) have changed drastically after entering Izuku's world.
In case anyone asks how much crack I was taking in to come up with the idea, I am just going to say enough to make even a loyalist Adaptus Astartes trippy.
Chapter 12: Entrance Exams
Much like other high schools that offered multiple courses, U.A. High School held an entrance exam for each course on a separate day. Since the entrance exam for the support course was held two days before the entrance exam for the hero course, Izuku took part in the support course exam with Ferrus, Vulkan and Dorn. Although Izuku was not particularly gifted in the field of making support gear, he was skilled in not only analysing quirks but also coming up with useful suggestions for the quirks he had analysed. He was therefore already guaranteed to participate in support course classes should he be unable to pass the entrance exam for the hero course. Ferrus, Vulkan and Dorn, who were highly skilled in making support gear, were also guaranteed to participate in support course classes.
The talents that Izuku, Ferrus, Vulkan and Dorn possessed did not go unnoticed, especially not by certain Hatsume Mei.
Since Guilliman had decided to take the business course instead, she took her own exam on a separate day from everyone else. In spite of her unusual origins, she was able to pass the exam with excellent grades and was guaranteed to participate in business course classes.
As for the rest of the former primarchs, they were given a chance to take the recommendation entrance exam for the hero course which was held on the day before the regular entrance exam itself. Given the fact that they were on par with heroes who were ranked the top ten, receiving the recommendations needed to take part in the exam from them was honestly not surprising. The fact that they easily passed the exam was also unsurprising for anyone who knew them.
Unlike the former primarchs who took the recommendation exam, Izuku took the regular entrance exam for the hero course instead. He was understandably worried that he would be by himself but luck was on his side that day as he saw a certain girl with frog-like features and greeted her, "Good morning, Tsuyu."
Tsuyu smiled as she noticed Izuku and said, "Good morning, Midoriya-chan. I was starting to wonder when you would show up, kero."
Glad to see a familiar face, Izuku smiled back and said, "I'm glad to see you here too."
Although Izuku and the former primarchs did not go out much, they made sure to contact the Asui family every time they went out in case they could meet up. While such meetings were rare, they generally enjoyed spending time with the part-amphibian family. The fact that Eri had developed a friendship with Satsuki was something that everyone agreed was a good thing.
Of course, it quickly became clear that Samidare had a crush on Sanguinius. In fact, Tsuyu once told Izuku during a phone call that Samidare had sworn that he would try his best to become a great pro-hero so that he would somehow be worthy of dating Sanguinius.
"So, feeling nervous, kero?" asked Tsuyu.
Izuku smiled sheepishly and admitted, "Honestly, yeah."
"IT'S YOU!"
Surprised, both Izuku and Tsuyu turned their attention towards a certain short boy named Mineta Minoru who was glaring at Izuku enviously while yelling, "You're the lucky son of a bitch who has been living with those tall beauties here at U.A. High School for months!"
Izuku blushed at the reminder that he was living with twelve tall and attractive girls, never mind the fact that Minoru's yells had attracted attention of other people including a certain girl with short brown hair, visible pink blushes on her cheeks, large round eyes and soft pads on her fingertips named Uraraka Ochako. In spite of his bashfulness over his unusual living arrangements, including getting hugged by Angron every night and bathing with the former primarchs at least once a week, Izuku was able to respond, "I-in my defence, I honestly did not expect my first encounter with them would lead to me living with them." He then frowned and added, "Also, implying that my mother is a bitch is uncalled for."
Minoru huffed and said, "Fine, I'll admit that calling you a son of a bitch is uncalled for, especially since your life at Aldera Junior High wasn't exactly a bed of roses if the news about that place is even half true. That doesn't change the fact that you've gotten pretty damn lucky when you got involved with those babes though."
Izuku's blush returned as he knew that Minoru had a point. Not even Tsuyu could disagree with the short boy's statement although she was curious enough to ask, "What's your name, kero?"
Minoru winked at Tsuyu and pointed at himself with his thumb while saying, "The name's Mineta Minoru. I'm here to join the hero course and become a famous pro-hero whom hot babes everywhere will fall for!"
Tsuyu, in spite of having a face that was not very expressive due to her quirk, was clearly unimpressed as she spoke, "In other words, you plan to be a womaniser, kero."
Minoru shrugged and said, "You're not wrong but at least I have no intention of hiding my intentions like those pretty boys who can get away with womanising just because they have good looks."
"Doesn't change the fact that your personality is off-putting to say the least, kero," argued Tsuyu.
"Even if my personality's not a factor, my physical looks alone is already off-putting," said Minoru who then pointed at Izuku and said, "Anyway, you better pass this test so that I can kick your ass for being so damned lucky with the ladies!"
"You'll have to pass the test too if you really want to face me during hero classes," said Izuku. While he was no battle maniac, he had developed a liking for friendly spars and was curious about Minoru's quirk which was clearly linked to the balls on his head.
"That's the plan!" said Minoru before setting off to his exam venue.
A few seconds passed before Izuku said, "Well, that was something."
"I sure hope he won't become my classmate, kero," said Tsuyu who knew that Izuku planned to be in Class V with the tall girls who lived at the Imperial Dorm.
Izuku chuckled as he and Tsuyu made their way to their shared exam venue.
-A short while later…-
Hizashi (a.k.a. Present Mic) smiled as he spoke bombastically, "Welcome to today's live performance! Everybody say 'HEY'!"
A moment of silence, other than a soft chuckle from Izuku who was used to being around the pro-hero, passed before he said, "Well, that's cool, my examinee listeners! I'm here to present the guidelines of your practical! Are you ready!?"
As basically everyone present in the auditorium responded enthusiastically, Hizashi then proceeded to explain the rules of the exam which involved fighting three types of robotic 'faux-villains' in different parts of a city training zone to earn points. He was explaining that attacking other examinees was prohibited when a tall boy with dark-blue hair, a serious-looking face and thick calves with exhaust pipes sticking out of them stood up and said, "Excuse me, there appears to be no less than four types of faux-villains on this handout! Such a blatant error, it if is indeed one, is unbecoming of U.A. High School!" He then turned his attention towards Izuku and Tsuyu, who were seated together, and said, "As for you two, while I understand the value of sharing information between friends, it's not appropriate to talk while a teacher and pro-hero is explaining the exam to us!"
Both Izuku and Tsuyu, who had indeed been discussing about possible strategies since they would be in the same practical exam venue, blushed as they apologised bashfully. Hizashi snickered at the pair before he explained, "Nice catch, Examinee 7111. There is a fourth type of faux-villain but, unlike the other three, it doesn't offer any points and is more like an obstacle to be avoided."
Examinee 7111, whose actual name was Iida Tenya, bowed and said, "Thank you, sir! I apologise for the interruption!"
"Well, that's all from me! I'll leave you listeners with this school's motto, break a leg and go 'Plus Ultra', everyone!"
-A few minutes later, at one of the designated venues…-
Izuku, who had trained at Ground Beta a few times already, walked calmly while holding his metallic training naginata which had a head-end that had been moulded to resemble the "blade" of a wooden bokken. Tsuyu, who was walking next to him, said, "For someone who claims to be nervous, you seem awfully calm, kero."
"Well, it might be because I've trained here a few time already and faced really strong opponents regularly," replied Izuku while smiling sheepishly. His words did not go unnoticed by the other examinees, including a certain boy with the head of a crow named Fumikage.
Well aware of whom Izuku had been sparring with, Tsuyu chuckled and said, "I can certainly imagine them being more difficult opponents than most, kero."
"Even if the faux-villains are easy to beat, I still need to get enough points to pass and I'm pretty sure that everyone here will be trying to get as many points as they can too," said Izuku.
Tsuyu placed her finger onto her lips thoughtfully and said, "That's certainly true, kero."
Suddenly, the wail of a siren could be heard as Hizashi announced, "Begin!"
Izuku wore a determined expression and said, "That's our cue, Tsuyu!"
Tsuyu nodded before she and Izuku immediately charged forward together, surprising the other examinees as a result. A moment later, they heard Hizashi saying, "What are you all waiting for? The test has already begun!"
Realising that the test had begun, the rest of the examinees immediately followed Izuku and Tsuyu's lead. Those who could see the two widened their eyes as Izuku and Tsuyu worked together to defeat the incoming one-pointer faux-villain. While Tsuyu kicked the head of the robot with a powerful kick, Izuku ducked low and stabbed the base of its neck with his training naginata. Tsuyu then grabbed the robot by its elongated neck with her tongue and pulled, pulling its head off and disabling it in the process.
Izuku, who could already feel the rush of adrenaline in his bloodstream, continued to charge onwards towards a small group of faux-villains while roaring, "Plus ultra!" Thanks to the months of sparring with opponents far stronger and more skilled that he was, he was able to cripple or disable multiple faux-villains in a blinding display of speed, skill and focus while weaving his way between them. Tsuyu followed his lead and took down any faux-villains that were not already disabled by him.
Spurred on by Izuku's seemingly fearless display of skill, the other examinees, including Ochako, Tenya and Fumikage, charged forward as well while yelling, "Plus ultra!"
-Meanwhile, in a staff viewing room…-
"It seems that Midoriya-shounen is not the only exceptional one taking the regular exam this year," said Toshinori while observing the examinees' performances. Besides the teachers of the school, Inko, Eri and the former primarchs were present in the room as well.
Nedzu smiled as he observed Tsuyu and Izuku working together to take down as many faux-villains as they could and said, "That is certainly true. However, the real test is when they face overwhelmingly bad odds." He then motioned to Shouta to press a big red button that no Ork could resist pressing.
Shouta nodded at Nedzu before he pressed the button that would activate the zero-pointer faux-villains…
-Back at the exam venue…-
Nearly everyone in the area was slack-jawed as they stared at a multi-storey tall robot appear and easily crush some buildings with its hands to clear a path for itself. It then slammed its clenched fist onto the floor, creating a shock-wave that caused many examinees to fall off their feet. Understandably, many of them panicked and ran away. However, Izuku did not flee as he stood his ground and even tilted his head while staring at the massive robot which was about the height of an imperial heavy battle titan. Tsuyu, who was about to flee as well, noticed that Izuku did not seem afraid at all so she had to ask, "You're not going to fight that faux-villain, are you, kero?"
Izuku scratched his cheek and said, "I know that I can't beat that thing without a powerful weapon, a lot of help or both but, honestly, it doesn't seem all that scary to me."
The sheer lack of bravado in Izuku's unmistakably sincere statement caused almost everyone who heard him stop in their tracks while staring at him as though he had gone insane. Realising why Izuku was not scared, Tsuyu had to ask, "Let me guess, training with those girls is scarier?"
Izuku shuddered and said, "Let's just say that I once sparred with Curze while trapped inside a big building without any working lights with her and leave it at that." Although Curze had undoubtedly gone easy on him, her preference for terror tactics made that particular sparring session no different from trying to survive a scenario that would not be out of place in a terrifying horror film. Her disturbingly creative use of red paint, various kinds of anatomy props, disposable clothes, ropes and trip-wires certainly did not help.
No one blamed Izuku for needing a few days of cuddling in Angron's arms while sleeping to recover from the honestly traumatising experience.
Tsuyu felt a mix of understanding and sympathy as she nodded an said, "Well, regardless, we should get going and try to collect more points, kero."
Izuku was about to agree with Tsuyu when he heard someone groaning in pain. His eyes went wide as he realised that a certain brown-haired girl, whom he had noticed going deeper into the exam venue to collect more points, was trapped by some rubble that had pinned her legs down. Without hesitation, he charged forward while yelling, "We need to save her!"
Noticing the girl who had been pinned down, Tsuyu did not hesitate to charge forward as well. She then asked Izuku, "Need a boost, kero?"
Izuku nodded and said, "Do it!"
Tsuyu coiled her long tongue around Izuku's waist and then spun around in mid-air to build up the momentum needed to toss him at a high velocity. Izuku leapt into the air as she spun and was soon tossed towards the girl whom they wanted to save.
Ochako, who was groaning in pain while struggling to get up, noticed a certain freckled green-haired boy flying towards her. Her eyes widened as he landed onto his feet and continued running straight towards her with the obvious intention of helping her somehow. However, the boy's actions had not gone unnoticed as the zero-pointer faux villain noticed him and acted accordingly.
Izuku's eyes narrowed as he could see the faux-villain trying to stop him by blocking his way with its massive hand. As strong and fast as he was due to his training, he knew that he might not be able to run past the hand that would soon block his way. Thankfully, he did not need too as Tsuyu and a certain boy with engine exhaust pipes protruding from his calves rushed past him and got past the descending hand of the huge robot with their superior speed. Well aware that the robot might target them while trying to rescue the brown-haired girl, Izuku stopped running onwards and stood his ground while yelling at the top of his lungs, "Come and face me, you over-sized abominable toaster!"
The zero-pointer faux-villain, which was about to turn its attention towards Tsuyu and Tenya, froze for a moment before it turned its attention towards Izuku with a gaze that could only be a baleful glare. It then spoke, its booming voice easily heard by everyone in the exam venue, "Impertinent organic, targeted."
"If you wish to fight me, faux-villain, then let me indulge you!" yelled Izuku while holding up his weapon with an audacious smile on his face. Although he knew that he had no chance of defeating the enormous robot, he refused to abandon anyone who needed his help.
Suddenly, the massive robot started to float. Surprised, Izuku stared at it in confusion before Tsuyu and the boy whom he recognised as Examinee 7111 ran back towards him. To his relief, he could see that the brown-haired girl was in the taller boy's arms. Tsuyu then grabbed Izuku with her tongue and dragged him away while saying, "Do it!"
Ochako, who was clearly nauseous, nodded and pressed her fingertips together. Her quirk granted her the ability to remove the effects of gravity on a solid object by touching it with the pads on her fingertips. To cancel the effect, all she needed to do was touch the fingertips of both hands together. With the pull of gravity restored, the floating robot quickly fell onto the ground with a tremendous crash that created a shock-wave powerful enough to send the four examinees flying. Thankfully, a certain crow-headed boy who had tried to catch up with Izuku and Tsuyu saw them and yelled, "Catch them, Dark Shadow!"
"Roger!" yelled a shadow-like entity with glowing yellow eyes that emerged from Fumikage's torso. It expanded its arms and quickly caught the four examinees before they could crash onto the ground beneath them. Fumikage sighed in relief as the four students seemed mostly all right, if incredibly nauseous in the case of the girl whom the other three had risked their lives to rescue, and approached the four while Dark Shadow lowered them onto the ground gently.
Suddenly, Hizashi's voice could be heard as he finally announced, "The test is over!" The announcement was immediately followed by the sounds of a girl "puking her guts out".
-One hot shower later…-
"Thank you so much for helping me and I'm so sorry for puking all over you all!" said Ochako, who was seated on a chair, while bowing to Izuku, Tsuyu, Tenya and Fumikage. Although her ability to remove the effects of gravity on an object had many uses, using it also caused her to suffer nausea especially when massive objects, such as the zero-pointer robot, were affected by her quirk. The fact that she was already straining herself even before the robot appeared certainly did not help.
Izuku chuckled sheepishly and said, "That's okay. I'm just glad that you're feeling better now."
Tsuyu nodded with a smile and said, "If you hadn't used your quirk on that zero-pointer, who knows what would have happened." She then turned her attention towards Izuku and added, "Especially since a certain someone thought that angering a building-sized robot was a good idea, kero."
"In my defence, I was making sure it was not paying attention to the rest of you," said Izuku while scratching the back of his head sheepishly.
"While I cannot condone such recklessness, I'm willing to say that your intentions are nothing short of heroic," said Tenya.
Fumikage nodded and said, "As one might say, we are what we do while in the dark."
"By the way, my name is Midoriya Izuku and this is my friend, Asui Tsuyu," said Izuku while introducing both himself and Tsuyu.
"My name's Uraraka Ochako," said Ochako who still had a bit of a limp as her injuries were light enough that she could take a shower with Tsuyu's help before receiving any healing from Chiyo. No one blamed Chiyo for wanting to avoid kissing someone covered in vomit if she could help it.
"My name is Tokoyami Fumikage and this is my quirk, Dark Shadow," said Fumikage while introducing himself and his sentient quirk.
"Hello!" said Dark Shadow.
Tenya bowed to Izuku and Tsuyu like a stiff robot as he introduced himself, "My name is Iida Tenya and I apologise for embarrassing you two during Present Mic's briefing!"
"It's all right, really. It's not like you're wrong about us talking while he was giving the briefing," said Izuku.
"Even if that was the case, it does not change the fact that I had a bit of a poor opinion of the both of you at first," said Tenya who was genuinely apologetic.
"Didn't stop you from giving us a hand to help her," said Tsuyu while pointing at Ochako.
"Admittedly, I was willing to keep my distance from the zero-pointer like everyone else until I saw you two rush in to save her," said Tenya. Left unsaid was that both he and Fumikage were among those who were dumbstruck by Izuku's seemingly insane claim that he did not feel afraid of the zero-pointer faux villain.
"Perhaps, but it does not change the fact that you came to help when it mattered," said Izuku who had a grateful smile on his face.
"He's right. A hero's true worth is determined by his actions and decisions at a given critical moment," said Toshinori while entering the room, which was actually the school infirmary, with Angron, Curze, Corax, Eri, Inko and Chiyo. The skeletal man then turned his attention towards Ochako and smiled as he added, "Though I must admit that I did not expect you to single-handedly defeat the zero-pointer."
Ochako scratched the back of her head sheepishly and said, "I couldn't just lie down and do nothing while Midoriya-kun, Asui-chan and Iida-kun risked their lives to help me."
"With a bit of training, you might become capable of defeating actual titans," said Angron who was referring to actual imperial titans. True, Ochako was unlikely to develop the physical strength needed to topple an imperial titan but, given her quirk, she did not need to. Also such massive machines were not exactly known for the ability to get back onto their feet after falling onto their backs.
Fumikage noticed Eri looking at him timidly while hiding behind Curze and asked, "My apologies for interrupting, but I cannot help but notice that the little girl is afraid of me and Dark Shadow."
"She was hurt badly by scum who wore beak-shaped plague masks. She knows that you're not a bad person but your appearance reminds her of them," explained Curze who had an apologetic expression on her face.
Comprehending the circumstances, Fumikage said, "I see. The news did not cover her much but I assume that she is the one whom you rescued from the Shie Hassaikai many months ago, Konrad-san."
Not surprised by the fact that people still remembered her for her actions, which included killing the leaders of the presently-defunct yakuza group and creating a meme after stepping on the face of a certain pro-hero named Death Arms, Curze nodded and replied, "The one and only."
Eri peeked at Fumikage and meekly apologised, "Sorry."
Fumikage smiled at Eri and said, "It's all right. I do not blame you for being afraid me and Dark Shadow. If anything, I blame the men who hurt you for making you afraid of us."
Dark Shadow nodded in agreement with its host and said, "Good riddance to them!"
Fumikage glared at Dark Shadow and sternly said, "While I understand your disdain towards them, do not forget that we're here to be heroes, not killers." He then turned his attention towards Curze and added, "No offence."
"None taken," replied Curze.
"Had those men still lived, I would not have hesitated to make them pay dearly for bringing shame to the image of the raven," said Corax.
Fumikage turned his attention towards Corax and asked, "You like corvids?"
Corax nodded and said, "You can say that."
"Does that mean you like us too?" asked Dark Shadow. Fumikage felt his eye twitch as he was tempted to scold the sentient quirk for asking a question that had potentially romantic undertones. The fact that he found Corax genuinely attractive and saw her as a fellow "reveller of the darkness" after watching a recent video of her sparring with Hawks certainly did not help.
Corax tilted her head and said, "I have no reason to dislike you two at the very least."
Dark Shadow grinned at Fumikage and whispered loudly, "You should ask her out."
"D-Dark Shadow!" yelled Fumikage who was clearly blushing.
Ochako sputtered as she struggled to contain her laughter while almost everyone in the room chuckled at Fumikage and Dark Shadow. Even Eri giggled at the levity of the situation. Corax did not laugh but she wore a small smile on her face.
Chiyo turned her attention towards Ochako and said, "Before we continue this conversation, I should take a closer look at all of your injuries, dearie."
Remembering her injured leg, which was thankfully not broken, Ochako nodded and gratefully said, "Please do so."
Chiyo examined her leg and said, "Well, just as expected, it's just a bad sprain. A quick kiss followed by a good meal and some rest will fix you right up." She the gave Ochako a kiss on the cheek to activate her healing ability.
Since Chiyo's healing ability drained the stamina of the individual she was healing, Ochako felt a bit drowsy and said, "This… is more tiring than I thought."
"That's mostly because you have been working hard to pass the test like everyone else here," said Chiyo.
Inko nodded and said, "All of you must be exhausted after taking the practical." She then turned her attention towards Izuku and said, "As for you, young man, I'm half-tempted to have a word with you for picking a fight with that building-sized robot."
Izuku blushed as he asked, "I'm not going to live that one down any time soon, am I?"
"As your mother who almost got a heart attack while seeing you face that robot with nothing but a training naginata, I certainty won't let you forget it!" said Inko who was clearly only half-serious.
Angron chuckled and said, "While your courage and reasoning are without fault, even I must agree with your mother that you picked a fight with something far above your weight class, literally."
Izuku pouted at Angron's "betrayal" which caused everyone in the room to giggle or chuckle. Before long, he got the phone numbers of Ochako, Fumikage and Tenya before they returned to their respective homes. As he watched the three of them and Tsuyu leave U.A. High School, he smiled and thought, "Hopefully, all of us will pass and take part in heroics classes together."
-A week later…-
Normally, those who hoped to attend U.A. High School would have to wait for at least a week to get their results. However, since Izuku and the twelve former primarchs lived at the Imperial Dorm, they got their results after waiting for just five days instead.
As stated before, the former primarchs easily passed their respective exams with flying colours and would attend Class V together while also taking lessons of their respectively chosen courses. As for Izuku, he also passed his own entrance exam for the hero course as he had earned points from not only defeating faux-villains but also from assisting and protecting others. His recklessness aside, there was no doubt that he provoked the zero-pointer faux villain to help Tsuyu and Tenya rescue Ochako.
While Izuku and the former primarchs had no reason to be concerned about their entrance exam results any longer, the same could not be said about Izuku's worry about Ochako, Tsuyu, Tenya and Fumikage's own exam results. Thankfully, the wait was over as he received messages from them telling him that they had passed their exams as well. Understandably, he thought about inviting Tsuyu, Ochako, Tenya and Fumikage to the Imperial Dorm to celebrate with him and the former primarchs.
Not even Shouta could bring himself to deny Izuku the chance to hold a small party to celebrate.
-A few days later…-
Not long after the Bloodline Church was built, Nedzu decided to have U.A. High School fully converted into a boarding school. Since the school already had dorms for both the staff and the residents of the Imperial Dorm, it took little effort to convince the school board and the HPSC to have dorms built for the students as well. The fact that the dorms would help to keep the students safe, never mind certain worrying incidents such as the Jaku General Hospital Tragedy, certainly made it easier for Nedzu to convince everyone to agree with the conversion.
Unlike the Imperial Dorm, the student dorms were divided into two halves to separate the boys from the girls and had a total of five floors. The ground floor of each dorm still had a communal living room, a communal kitchen and a communal dining room. As for the bathroom on the ground floor, it was divided into two halves for separate genders.
While it would be a few more days before the rest of the students moved into the dorms, Nedzu saw no reason to not let Tsuyu, Ochako, Tenya and Fumikage move into the dorms early. After all, Izuku wanted to hold a small party to celebrate passing the entrance exams with everyone and it was clear that he saw the four soon-to-be students as his friends. Moving into the dorms was especially advantageous for Ochako as she and her family lived in the Mie prefecture and she would have needed to live in a nearby apartment had U.A. High School remained as a day school.
The day the four students moved in, which was also the day of the party that would be held at the Imperial Dorm, began with Tsuyu coming to U.A. High School together with the rest of her family. Satsuki's tail wagged excitedly as she saw Eri and greeted her, "Good morning, Eri-chan, poyo!"
Eri smiled as she greeted back, "Good morning, Satsuki-chan."
Beru smiled as she bowed to Izuku, Angron, Curze, Corax and Sanguinius who were waiting for them together with Eri, "Thank you so much for inviting us to the party and helping Tsuyu-chan move in."
Sanguinius smiled in return and bowed politely to the Asui family while saying, "We should be thanking you to agreeing to let her live here on such short notice."
"Where are the other girls by the way?" asked Ganma.
"Russ and Vulkan are helping my mum and Lunch Rush prepare the food while Guilliman is helping to organise the party with Icarian, Ferrus and Dorn," explained Izuku. He almost grimaced as he thought, "Hopefully, Russ won't spike any drinks with her home-brewed stuff, Vulkan won't make the food 'extra crispy' and Guilliman and Dorn won't end up building an entire hall for the party!"
"What about Lion and Khan, kero?" asked Tsuyu.
"Lion and Khan are patrolling around the school grounds as usual," said Corax.
Angron nodded and said, "They think their talents are better spent making sure this place is secure until the party starts."
"Paranoid much, gero?" asked Samidare.
"You'd be surprised how often villains pick the worst possible time for an attack," said Curze who was speaking from personal experience in her past life.
"Once everyone else is here, we can begin moving your belongings into Dorm 1A," said Sanguinius.
It did not take long for the other three students to arrive with their respective relatives. Ochako was the second to arrive with both of her parents, Mr and Mrs Uraraka. She clearly had her mother's looks as her mother had similar hair and even her own round pink blush marks on her cheeks. As for Mr Uraraka, he was a tall muscular man with dark yellow hair, an unshaven stubble on his masculine jawline and brown eyes.
Tenya arrived next and he came with his older brother, Iida Tensei. It was easy to tell that the two were related as Tensei had the same square features and dark-blue hair as Tenya. However, he did not wear spectacles, had slightly spiked hair and had engine exhausts protruding from his elbows instead of his calves.
Fumikage was the last to arrive and he came with both of his parents, Mr and Mrs Tokoyami. Mrs Tokayami Karasuko was a beautiful and seemingly young woman who had long dark violet hair, violet eyes, pale grey skin and a red crystal on her forehead. Mr Tokayami Garfield on the other hand was a tall and lean man with green skin, eyes and hair, pointed ears, pointed canines and a monkey-like tail. It was also clear that Fumikage got most of his personality and love for Ghotic themes from his mother instead of his father who loved to crack jokes. In fact, Garfield was actually a foreigner who decided to take his wife's surname upon marrying her.
With all four students and their relatives present and on time, the moving in could begin.
-Later that evening…-
Although the moving in started in the morning, it took until well past lunchtime for all four early residents of Dorm 1A to be fully settled. Since the party would be a simple buffet dinner party, no one had any reason to rush. Of course, a simple lunch break was held during lunchtime.
To Fumikage's immense embarrassment, Corax volunteered to help him set up his room which was undeniably dark and gloomy. The fact that she actually liked the room only made him blush even more. Fortunately, his mother made sure that his father would not say anything that would embarrass him further such as "guaranteed-to-work dating advice".
Both Izuku and Angron helped Tenya and his older brother move his personal belongings into his room. His room had not only a lot of books but also a lot of spare spectacles. In fact, there were three whole shelves full of spare spectacles and not even Angron could resist trying a pair on out of curiosity. It should be noted that both Tenya and Fumikage's rooms were on the first floor with a single empty room between the two rooms.
Both Curze and Eri helped Tsuyu and her family move her personal belongings into her room. Understandably, Tsuyu's room included both a humidifier and a heater which were necessary due to her part-frog biology. Her room also had decorations that included lilly pads and frogs. Not surprisingly, Eri and Satsuki spent the time working together to help Tsuyu with her belongings.
Sanguinius helped Ochako and her parents move her personal belongings into her room which was next to Tsuyu's room on the first floor. As her family was poor, she did not own many things so the move was done rather quickly. The winged former primarch then spent the extra time talking to them and learning about Ochako's desire to earn money as a rescue pro-heroine to support her family. The fact that Sanguinius supported Ochako's ambition made her feel more assured that her choice was the right one.
Once everyone had moved in, they spent the rest of the afternoon in the common living room of Dorm 1A and getting to know one another while waiting for the dinner party at the Imperial Dorm to begin. Eri and Satsuki played a simple board game with Samidare and Sanguinius while Tsuyu talked to Ochako, Tenya, Fumikage and Izuku.
"I know that you want to stay with the girls and will be with us during the hero course lessons, but I still think it's a bit of a shame that you've decided to be in Class V with them, kero," said Tsuyu.
"Well, if all goes well, I will be your classmate in the following year," said Izuku who then added, "Besides, I think it's better than I stay with them for at least the first year of our time as students here."
"Considering their unusual circumstances and your close relationship with them, I cannot say that I disagree with your decision," said Tenya who then added, "That being said, being in Class V with them will surely affect your future as a quirkless pro-hero."
"The fact that I'm actually able to attend the hero-course lessons at all in spite of being quirkless is already going to affect my future," said Izuku while shrugging.
"The darkness that lurks within society will surely seek your downfall," said Fumikage.
"Perhaps, but I have no intention of going quietly into the night," said Izuku who had a determined expression on his face as he refused to repeat the years he had spent living with his head held low by the abusive people around him.
Fumikage nodded in approval while Ochako smiled and said, "You'll do great, I'm sure of it!"
Izuku smiled as he glanced at Angron and replied, "Not without a lot help."
While Izuku was talking to Tsuyu, Ochako, Fumikage and Tenya, Curze asked Angron, "You're not worried that they will take him away from you?"
Angron smiled bitterly and said, "Refusing to let him make his own friends will make me no better than the man who took me away from mine." Aware that Angron was referring to the time when the Emperor took her away from her comrades, the City Eaters, Curze nodded and watched Eri play in comfortable silence.
Karasuko wore a deadpan expression as she spoke to her husband, "For the last time, don't even think about giving our son your dating advice."
Garfield grinned at his wife and said, "Come on, even you have to realise that he's attracted to that tall girl who might as well as be your long-lost relative."
"Need I remind you of the numerous times when our own dates went FUBAR because your plans backfired like the 'spork incident'?" asked Karasuko.
Garfield blushed at the reminder of a certain fiasco that involved a single spork and said, "Okay, I'll admit that our dates did not always go as planned but they turned out well enough in the end." He then grinned at Karasuko and added, "After all, you wouldn't have married me if you really hated our dates."
Karasuko blushed as she looked away from her husband and muttered, "Idiot…"
Tensei rubbed his chin as he talked to Mr Uraraka, "So, what are the chances that those five will form a hero team or at least work together a lot in the future?"
"I'll say that the chances are pretty good," said Mr Uraraka who was happy that his daughter was already making friends.
Mrs Uraraka gently pinched her husband's cheek and said half-seriously, "You better not be planning to let her marry anyone just yet."
Mr Uraraka grinned at his wife and said, "Of course not! Any boy who wants to date her will have to earn my approval first!"
Ganma saw the way Samidare was blushing while sitting next to Sanguinius and shook his head with a sigh, "That poor boy is going to get his heart broken at this rate."
Beru chuckled and said, "To be fair, I'm quite sure that she will break many hearts when the time comes for her to choose her spouse."
Corax, who knew how loved Sangunius was in the former primarchs' home universe, sighed and thought, "You have no idea."
Time seemed to pass quickly as it was soon time for the dinner party to begin…
-Just outside the Imperial Dorm…-
Fumikage, Tenya, Ochako, Tsuyu and their respective relatives stared at the Bloodline Chapel that was next to the Imperial Dorm. Dark Shadow was the first to speak about the chapel, "That building looks awesome."
"Whoever designed that building clearly has a love for the Gothic aesthetic," said Mr Uraraka who owned a construction business with his wife.
"You can totally hold a legit Halloween party there," said Garfield while Karasuko nodded in agreement with her husband.
Tensei turned his attention towards the Gothic-looking gazebo that was built in front of the Imperial Dorm and said, "Well, if nothing else, this party is certainly a bit 'Plus Ultra'."
Izuku sighed as he knew that the gazebo was made of cement and was built with Ken's help. The quirkless boy resisted the urge to cover his face with his hands as he thought, "At least they didn't decide to build an entire building."
Vulkan approached the group with a smile and said, "Welcome, everyone! Please come in while the cooked meals are still piping hot!"
The reminder of food got everyone moving as they entered the gazebo. At the centre of the gazebo was a rectangular cement platform that was raised to waist height and covered with a large piece of red tablecloth. Placed onto the cloth-covered platform were buffet trays that were filled to the brim with delicious-smelling food, a few drink dispensers that contained different beverages, trays filled with pieces of fruit or salad vegetables and disposable tableware. Izuku looked at the drink dispensers warily until Vulkan assured him, "Do not worry, Izuku. Russ did not spike any of the drink dispensers with her home-brewed stuff. Even she does not want the little ones to drink anything alcoholic."
Russ appeared with a broad grin and said, "Which means I have a few bottles of the good stuff in the fridge in case any adult wants to try some!"
"Home brewed alcohol, eh?" asked Mr Uraraka who was clearly interested.
"I can't make any of the distilled stuff but I'm confident of my home-brewed fermented stuff," said Russ.
Tenya had an appalled expression as he started chopping the air with his right hand while yelling, "B-brewing alcoholic drinks has to be against school regulations!"
Russ took one look at Tenya and wore a deadpan expression while saying, "Yup, you're as much of a stick in the mud as I've expected you to be." Mentally, she added, "And a total codex-humping Ultramarine."
While Tenya was shocked by Russ' frankly rude statement, Tensei chuckled and said, "He may be a bit of a stiff but he means well. Besides, he's not wrong about brewing alcohol being against the school rules."
"In my defence, I'm helping to test out a prototype of an incubator that can be used to do more than just ferment good drinks," said Russ.
"She's right, unfortunately," said Guilliman. She was soon followed by Dorn, Ferrus, Icarian, Khan, Lion, Inko, Ken and Lunch Rush.
Tensei raised an eyebrow and asked Guilliman, "Oh, what else can the incubators do?"
"For one thing, they can be used to culture human cells and tissues," said Guilliman who did not want to reveal too much about the incubators.
Garfield became interested and asked, "So you're trying to cultivate human tissues for tissue transplants?" In spite of his wisecracking attitude, his father was a doctor so he knew a few things about biology.
Guilliman nodded and said, "If it works as intended, it can be used to help people regain at least some of their bodily functions."
Left unsaid was that one of the incubators had already successfully grown a replacement lung and a replacement stomach for Toshinori. Although the replacement organs had taken some time to grow and were a third smaller than the original ones, they could function as intended and did not cause any complications whenever Toshinori used his quirk. Toshinori could have received the organs earlier but no one disagreed with Chiyo's desire to have the organs extensively tested for compatibility before letting the pro-hero receive them. As a result, Toshinori only received the organs about a week before the entrance exams and would not be cleared for active hero duty until the start of the new school term. That being said, he was allowed to use his hero form while working as a teacher to not only maintain appearances but also test the effectiveness of the replacement organs.
"Hey, save the egghead talk for later! We have a feast to enjoy!" said Russ.
Lion huffed and muttered, "Trust a glutton to think about food first and foremost when given the chance." In spite of her disapproval for Russ' sense of priorities, she did not refuse the chance to have a meal with everyone present. Before long, Toshinori, Nedzu and Hizashi arrived to enjoy the meal and interact with the four new students and their relatives.
Toshinori, who was in his skeletal true form, smiled as he ate his meal. While he still could not eat a lot, the fact that he had a working replacement stomach at all did wonders for both his physical and psychological health. In fact, there was hope that his improving physical health would help to slow down or even reverse his dwindling time limit as his hero form, All Might.
It did not take long for Russ to offer bottles of alcoholic drinks to some of the adults. Thankfully, no one got "stupidly drunk" and the only under-aged person who drank anything alcoholic was Russ who boasted having a tough "quirk-enhanced liver" in spite of her physical age.
Overall, it was a pleasant party to celebrate the joys of being able to attend the chosen courses offered by U.A. High School.
-In the primarchs' original universe…-
While there was no doubt that Eri was a popular figure in the Cult of Guardians, that was not to say that the twelve former primarchs and Izuku were ignored by the sanctioned cult. Acknowledging and worshipping the nine former primarchs who were the literal reincarnations of the Emperor's "great angels", was a given. The other three primarchs, especially Angron and Curze, did not receive nearly as much worship as the nine but their willingness to interact peacefully with the nine was not ignored.
Izuku held a unique place among the followers of the sanctioned cult as he was the one who discovered and aided six of the former primarchs. He even stood his ground and calmed Angron who was once the daemon primarch of Khorne. The fact that he persevered in self-improvement in spite of being undeniably weaker than the former primarchs was also deserving of acknowledgement. True, he had a "wimpy side", especially early on, but his rapid growth in both confidence and courage were worthy of praise.
Of couse, there was the time when he almost wet himself multiple times while sparring with Curze inside a building that had no working lights but no one in their right mind could blame him for for feeling fear while facing the reincarnation of the Night Haunter.
Izuku's fame as a growing symbol of courage spiked recently when a vision of him facing a titan-sized abominable intelligence became known. While it was true that the abominable intelligence was supposedly meant for combat training or combat testing, never mind the inferior technology used to make it, the fact that the boy stood his ground while so many others fled was impossible to dismiss. His act of defiant courage was not even one of baseless bravado nor insane desperation as he knew that he could not defeat the machine but was determined to do what he could to buy enough time for a girl who had been pinned down to be rescued.
Understandably, many loyalist space marines felt that Izuku had the potential to be a worthy aspirant among their ranks. Among them were the Grey Knights who remembered the words of Justicar Alaric, "We do not know what our chances of survival are, so we fight as if they were zero. We do not know what we are facing, so we fight as if it was the dark gods themselves. No one will remember us now and we may never be buried beneath Titan, so we will build our own memorial here. The Chapter might lose us and the Imperium might never know we existed, but the Enemy - the Enemy will know. The Enemy will remember. We will hurt it so badly that it will never forget us until the stars burn out and the Emperor vanquishes it at the end of time. When Chaos is dying, its last thought will be of us. That is our memorial - carved into the heart of Chaos. We cannot lose, Grey Knights. We have already won."
Though the Imperium of Man still faced horrors from both without and within, its will to endure was far from depleted.
-End Chapter-
Author's Notes:
Yes, Tokayami's parents (which have not been revealed in canon as far as I know) are inspired by Raven (a.k.a. Rachel Roth) and Beast Boy (a.k.a. Garfield Logan) from Teen Titans.
The next chapter will either feature the first lesson for the first year students of U.A. High School or put more focus on the other two former primarch factions.
Until next time, go beyond, plus ultra!
