Chapter Six: Can't Wait to be Queen

Tsunami quickly raced back into the Summer Palace. She came to the edge of the cliff before diving down into the water. She quickly swam through the water for a moment before jumping out of the water and opening her wings. The young Seawing princess effortlessly glided through the air before stopping a few yards from the pavilion. She flapped in the air for a moment and quickly looked around for her best friend. Although she didn't see him anywhere at first, she suddenly remembered that he was more than likely with their Aquatic language instructor. Angling herself in the in the air, Tsunami flapped up into the air before flying to the pavilion level where she knew that the Aquatic lessons were taking place.

She landed on the pavilion level and noticed that the class was going on. Though it was a small class today as her and Riptide's teacher Whirlpool had his back to her. While the majority of the class consisted of her brothers and sisters, Riptide was sitting in the front row with Anemone and one of her brothers whose name was Turtle. Whirlpool was currently flashing as he said, "And this is how we say, *Goodbye.*"

*Goodbye.* The majority of his class copied with bored looks. A mischievous grin formed on Tsunami's face as she silently crept up behind Whirlpool. The class happened to notice her sneaking behind their teacher and she silently held her claw before her snout. While her brothers and Riptide started snickering a little, Anemone rolled her eyes even though she too enjoyed her sister's pranks on their teacher. Standing behind Whirlpool but where they could see her, Tsunami subtly started flashing when Whirlpool flashed. When he flashed his greetings like how he would always do during the lesson, Tsunami flashed, *Squid brain.*

Some of the male dragonets started snickering and Whirlpool became a little confused by this. He flashed another phrase and Tsunami flashed, *And I love to sing in the bath to my imaginary girlfriend.*

A few started breaking out in laughter from that one and it started to upset Whirlpool. He looked about his students and stamped his foot when he questioned, "What is the meaning of this? This is a sophisticated lesson in Aquatic."

*And I hardly tolerate the passing of gas of any kind.* Tsunami flashed and nearly revealed herself when she almost laughed. That did it as everyone suddenly busted out laughing. A reddened faced Whirlpool looked as if steam were about to come out of his ears and said, "Quiet!"

"Having trouble with the class there, Whirlpool?" A voice said from behind. Everyone, from Whirlpool and his students, even Tsunami tensed up with fear at the sound of her father's voice. Everyone glanced back to see the king land on their pavilion level. It was then that Whirlpool noticed Tsunami behind him and an angry look appeared on his face. Knowing very well that he couldn't dish out anything too severe, Whirlpool then said, "Very well, princess. Since you seem to enjoy playing childish pranks during times of study, I suppose that you'll recite your mother's latest piece of literature from her youth in Aquatic."

Everyone but King Gill and Whirlpool gasped from the punishment. Tsunami made a comical wince as she knew what piece that Whirlpool was talking about. The poem was about when her mother had met her father. It was all full of lovey-dovey mushy junk. And reciting it, whether through speech of the tongue or through Aquatic, was embarrassing enough. Tsunami looked to her father for a way out, but King Gill shook his head, "Sorry, Tsunami. You created these waves, so you'll just have to ride 'em out."

"Ugh, fine." Tsunami groaned before turning back to Whirlpool and his students. The Aquatic teacher had a bit of a smug grin as he nodded for her to go on. With a slight glare, Tsunami started flashing the poem, *Oh, how the sun glistened off your scales when I first saw you rise from the Sea. The water flowing off your body like waterfalls on an island.*

While there were a few snickers from the boys in the class and a satisfied grin on Whirlpool's face, her sister, brothers, best friend and her father were wincing as she kept going, *Your pearly whites could be seen in your smile and the webbing between your toes cutely wiggled when you moved your talons.*

Everyone but Whirlpool shuddered from that line. Tsunami knew that her father loved her mother, but they all knew that sometimes Queen Coral's work can be a little much. Especially when it makes other dragons cringe from corniness or overly romantic. Luckily for Tsunami, she was getting closer to the end, *Though I've only seen you from afar and don't know you very well, I could feel it in my heart that we were destined to be together.*

She gave a relieved sigh when it was all over. Whirlpool, though wanting to keep Tsunami in the ringer for a little while longer, the time for the class was over now. Looking to his students he said, "Class is now dismissed. Remember the Aquatic techniques that I've shown you. I'll be testing you all next week."

"Aw!" The dragons groaned at the thought. Tsunami knew that she would need to study since she had missed out on the majority of the lesson. Luckily for her, she had her siblings and her best friend to help her out with that.

Speaking of her best friend and her siblings, Riptide and Anemone ran up to her. She was embraced by both and said, "Hey, you guys."

"Oh, man, Tsunami." Riptide shook his head and backed up, "Those little pranks you did on Whirlpool were priceless."

"Though I thought it was a little childish, it was pretty funny." Anemone agreed with a smile. Tsunami smiled too before sighing, "Too bad I got caught and had to recite one of Mom's old pieces."

"Yeah, but at least you were able to flawlessly say it in Aquatic." Riptide offered her. Gill nodded and said, "It looks like practicing with your family and friends is really paying off."

"Speaking of family and friends." Tsunami said before looking to her best friend and sister. Then she said, "Come on. I wanna show you this really cool place."

"And this really cool place would be where exactly?" Her father asked, making Tsunami cringe at finding a good excuse. She didn't want to lie to her parents, but she wanted to go and show what she had learned from Shark to the two she really got along with. An idea came to mind as she turned to the older dragon and calmly answered, "Oh, it's just a spot at the Crescent Island."

"The Crescent Island?!" Both Anemone and Riptide questioned with quirked brows. Their outbursts somewhat threw Tsunami off. Smiling up at Gill she turned to the two and said through gritted teeth, "Don't worry. I'll show you when we get there."

"Oh." They said, understanding what she was talking about. Seeing that they understood, Tsunami turned back to her father and asked, "So, can I take them?"

"Well…" Gill said as he started to think about it. Tsunami, Riptide and Anemone all came up to him and gave him wide toothy smiles when they pleaded, "Please?"

"Well, seeing that it's not too far, I don't see the harm." Gill nodded his consent. All three dragonet's cheered to this and started to run off in excitement. But it was basically ruined when Gill added, "But as long as Scuttle goes with you three."

All three dragonets stopped in their tracks and looked to each other as Tsunami whined, "Oh, not Scuttle."

"He either goes with you, or you don't go at all." Gill firmly told them. All three sighed before going off to find the seagull.

Much later, they had found Scuttle and convinced him to go out with them saying that they had permission from the king. While the three Seawing dragonets were swimming about in the ocean, the seagull made sure to keep an eye on them as he flew through the air. He looked down and said to the children, "Keep up you three. The sooner we reach the Crescent Island, the sooner we can leave."

While the dragonet's rolled their eyes, Riptide looked to her best friend and asked, "So, where are we really going?"

"Yeah, if you went through so much trouble to agree to get Scuttle so we can get out, you must have something planned." Anemone agreed, knowing that it was somewhere good. Tsunami nodded, "And I do. I'm taking us to the Desolate Isles."

"The what Isles?" Her sister asked, thinking it sounded pretty awesome. Even Riptide liked the sound of it when he splashed when he said, "Wow!"

Both Tsunami and Anemone quickly shushed the male Seawing dragonet, making him quiet down. Looking up to the seagull above them, Tsunami gestured with a motion of her head, "Scuttle."

"Oh, yeah." Riptide nodded as he remembered their babysitter. Anemone then asked, "So how are we going to ditch him?"

"Hmm." Tsunami said as she started to think. The three came to a little island that stuck out of the ocean and took a moment to try and come up with something. An idea came to Riptide and he said, "I've got an idea."

Leaning forward he started to whisper it to the other two. Scuttle happened to notice that they had stopped on the island and looked to see them whispering to each other. Tsunami and Riptide in particular of all. He flew down to them and when he was about the three he said, "Oh, just look at how you all are getting along. Especially you, Tsunami and Riptide."

"Huh?" Both dragonets in question asked. Scuttle chuckled when he landed on the island. The seagull shook some sea water off one of his feet before looking to the three. Keeping his gaze on Tsunami and Riptide he said, "What I mean to say is that your parents thought it would be beneficial to have the two of you betrothed. Seeing as how you are getting along greatly."

"Be-what?" A confused Tsunami asked. It didn't make much sense to Anemone and Riptide either even when Scuttle said a few synonyms, "Betrothed. Intended. Affianced."

"Meaning what exactly?" Riptide asked and gave him a questioning look. Anemone looked amongst the three of them and pointed out, "And remember, we are children."

Her comment made Scuttle sigh before happily explaining, "One day the two of you are going to be married."

"What?!" All three dragonets shouted in shock. The shock turned into disgust when the two intended for each other cringed. Tsunami walked up to the seagull and argued, "I can't marry Riptide, he's my best friend."

"It'd be so weird." Riptide added when he lowered his head next to the bird. But Scuttle only shook his head and he commented, "Well, sorry to bust your sea bubbles, but you two sea horses don't have much of a choice in the matter." He turned out to the sea and sounded proud when he said, "It's a tradition that goes back many a generation."

"Well, when I'm Queen that'll be the first thing to go." Tsunami assured her friend with a nod and a wink. But a proud Scuttle disagreed with that, "Not so long as I'm around."

"Well, in that case, you're fired." Tsunami was quick to say when she stepped closer to the seagull, thinking he was an obstacle. But with a tap to the nose, Scuttle was quick to argue, "A nice try, but only the Queen can do that."

"Well, she is the future Queen." Riptide pointed out when he and Anemone stood on both sides of Tsunami. A smirk formed on the elder princess' face when she moved closer to the bird and thumped him in the chest with her webbed talons, "Yeah, so that means you have to do what I tell you."

"Not yet, I don't." Scuttle shook his head with an irritated look and their grins all fell. They started to walk away from the seagull as Scuttle placed his wings on his hips and said, "And with an attitude like that, I'm afraid that you're shaping up into a pretty pathetic Queen indeed."

"Hmph." Tsunami said when she looked back with a smirk, "Not the way that I see it."

Her body tensed up and she leapt at the bird. Scuttle cringed in fear but the Seawing princess landed in front of him. Standing to where she towered over him, Tsunami proudly boasted, "I'm gonna be a mighty Queen, and my enemies will beware."

She then got up in Scuttle's face and made him walk backwards until he tripped and fell into the surf. When he sat up, he cried out when a small wave splashed over him. Getting up and shaking the water off of him, before retorting, "Well, I've never seen a Queen of draconic beasts so small that she would dare."

He gave her a light peck on the head and she cried out before rubbing it. She swiped at him with her talons to make him move. Gesturing to herself she stated, "I'm gonna be the main event that no queen was before.

"I'm brushing up on looking down…" She said while he flew over to a rock. The young Seawing rushed up to him as he landed, got in his face and proudly shouted, "I'm workin' on my ROAR!"

She roared in his face and the wind from it made Scuttle fall onto another rock. The seagull got up with a dizzy look and shook his head to clear it. He looked up to her and commented, "Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing."

But the rock started to move and it turned out that it was a seal. The seal raised its head and looked at the seagull with an annoyed look. He gave the mammal a sheepish look before it flung him into the air with its body. Scuttle cried out when the seal swatted him away with its tail. The seagull was sent bouncing across the surface of the ocean before falling into the water. The three Seawing dragonets looked to each other before going in to save him. The elder princess grinned as she said, "Oh, I just can't wait to be Queen."

Tsunami was the first of them to splash into the water followed by Riptide and Anemone. They swam down just as Scuttle tried to swim back up to the surface. He stopped when the three young dragons gathered around him. He managed to break the surface and coughed a bit as the three joined him. The seagull tried to make a point, "You've rather a long way to go, young mistress, if you think…"

He was cut off when a wave splashed over them and they were forced under again. They started to swim upwards again. Looking to her friend and sister, Tsunami flashed in Aquatic, *No one to say, "Do this"*

Though he wasn't very good at Aquatic, Scuttle seemed to get an idea of what she said. When their heads broke the surface again, the seagull turned his head to the princess and said, "Now, when I said that…"

From behind the seagull, Riptide had his tongue sticking out while Anemone mocked him. The actions made Tsunami grin as she covered her muzzle with her talons. And just as Scuttle turned his head, another waved forced them under again. This time when they got together, Riptide flashed in Aquatic, *No one saying, "Be there"*

Once again, Scuttle knew what the young dragonet had said. When they breached the surface again, the seagull turned his attention to Riptide and started to say, "What I meant was…"

This time from behind, both Tsunami and Anemone stuck their tongues out while the former pulled on the corners of her mouth and the latter pulled on her bottom lips. Scuttle slightly noticed from the corner of his eye and turned. But once again, another wave knocked them under. Under the water, Anemone took a turn by flashing, *No one sayin', "Stop that"*

Scuttle rolled his eyes before they swam up to the surface. Once they could breath air again, Scuttle looked at the younger princess in annoyance and said, "You don't realize…"

From behind, both Tsunami and Riptide made fishy faces as he faced her. They didn't stop when Scuttle turned their way and Anemone fish hooked her nostrils. A final wave knocked them under once more and all three of them flashed together, *No one sayin', "See here"*

With a yell that was muffled by the water, Scuttle shot for the surface with them right behind. The seagull breached the surface and shouted down at them as they popped their heads out, "Now, see here!"

All three friends came splashing out and it drenched Scuttle. He fought to stay in the air while they flew off. When he opened his eyes as they flew away from him. With a flap of his wings he chased after the three dragonets. From the head of the three, Tsunami joyfully said, "I'll be free to run around all day."

Overhearing what she just said, Scuttle shook his head. He moved out of the way of a wave when he said, "Well, that's definitely out."

He gasped when he saw all three dragonets on the backs of dolphins. They gently held onto the backs of aquatic mammals as the dolphins jumped through the waves. Tsunami looked back to the other two and shouted, "Free to do it all my way!"

With extra flaps of his wings, Scuttle managed to get ahead of them. When he was right in front of them, the seagull turned to where he could fly backwards and speak to whom he considers unruly dragonets. Pointing his wing at Tsunami he said, "I think that it's time that you and I arranged a heart-to-heart, young-"

But since he was flying backwards, he couldn't see where he was going and flew right into a rock that stood above the water. Tsunami, Riptide, Anemone and their dolphin rides all cringed from the smack. The dolphins came a little closer and Tsunami leaned a little closer to the bird and gave him a playful shrug, "Queens don't need advice from little seagulls for a start."

This caused Riptide, Anemone and even the dolphins to laugh or make laugh like noises. They took off again while Scuttle started to slide off the rock. But before he could fall into the water again, the seagull took to the air again and flew to another rock in the water. With a shake of his body he questioned, "If this is where the monarchy is headed…

"Then count me out!" He shouted when he made an 'x' with his wings and a slashing motion. He didn't realize it, but he had landed on the back of a large whale. More specifically, above its blow hole. The large mammal was swimming through the water while he angrily said, "Out of service, out of the Kingdom of the Sea! I wouldn't hang about!"

He screamed when a torrent of water was shot out of the whale's blow hole and it sent him flying. Scuttle managed to right himself in the air. With a groan he said, "This child is wildly getting out of wing. Or about to cost me a spleen."

A flock of pelicans flew over the three dragonets, but stopped to salute the princess with a wing as they flew through. Tsunami laughed as she said again, "Oh, how I just can't wait to be Queen."

When Scuttle came through, all the pelicans started to freak out and the seagull panicked as well. He screamed as he tried to fly out of the maelstrom of feathers. He came flying out covered in even more feathers than he had before. He spat a few out of his beak before groaning in anger. With a flap of his wings he tried to catch up to his three charges.

Among a big herd of whales, the three dragonets flew between the spouts that shot up from the whale's blow holes. They weaved their way around the spouts as they shot up into the air. When Scuttle entered from above, he had look around to try and find the three. He was startled when a spout shot up in front of him before moving around and continuing on. But he managed to miss Tsunami as she poked her head up from a side before looking over to another couple of whales to see Riptide and Anemone pop their heads up. With a gesture of her head she motioned for them to follow her. They flew to the middle of the pod of whales, landed on the biggest one's back and Riptide proudly said aloud, "If everyone were to look left…"

His voice caught the attention of Scuttle who looked back. With a huff he turned around and flapped back to the three. Anemone laughed as she said, "If everyone were to look right…"

They both wrapped an arm around Tsunami and shouted in unison, "Everywhere we look, she's…"

Scuttle was right before them as they all struck a pose and shouted together, "Standing in the spot light!"

"Not yet!" Was all Scuttle managed to say before he was blasted into the air by the whale's blow hole. As they watched him fly into the air, Tsunami looked to her sister and her friend to say, "Oh, how I sure can't wait to be Queen."

The three jumped off the whale's back and flew off in a direction away from them. Up in the air, Scuttle managed to stop himself from falling. With a crazed look in his eyes, the seagull looked for the three dragonets and decided that enough was enough. He saw them flying north and with a flap of his wings he shot after them. The three dragonets were keeping close to the water when Anemone looked back. She saw the seagull coming right at them and warned, "Here he comes! And he looks awful mad!"

"Get ready, you guys!" Tsunami told them and the three prepared themselves. When Scuttle was close enough, all three Seawing dragonets dived down into the water. The seagull flew to where he flapped over where they went down. He shouted down into the ocean, "You three can't stay down there forever! You know that you're going to be in big trouble!"

Under the water, all three dragonets turned their bodies towards the surface. As they neared, they spun themselves in a circle. Back in the air, Scuttle could see them coming up, but they were spinning. A moment later, the three Seawings burst from the ocean and completely drench the seagull. Scuttle sputtered and shook himself, but when he tried to look around for the three sea dragons, his face fell when a small whale jumped out of the water and came falling at him. The small whale landed on him and they both fell into the ocean. Under the water, the sea gull felt sore from being nearly crushed by the whale, but felt otherwise alright. The seagull knew that he needed to get out before he ran out of air. He wish that the whale would get off on its own, but he quickly moved to where he could swim to the surface and burst from the water. He coughed up what sea water he might have swallowed, "No… You kids… Listen to me… I-"

Scuttle gasped when the three dragonets were nowhere in sight. He looked around for any sign of them, but didn't see anything. He called out, "Riptide? Anemone?

"Tsunami!" He shouted and his call echoed over the ocean. With a frantic flap of his wings, Scuttle flew off to try and find them.

Author's Note: As usual, I stop the chapter here. Yes, I know that there was no big musical number in this chapter. But to be fair, if we remember correctly, Tsunami isn't best known for her singing voice. And the bath scene was changed to a school scene. I thought that might be a nice change of pace, plus it might fit more with Wings of Fire in a way. The next chapter is pretty much the same in a way. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
