A/N: Nearing ten chapters and I am honestly loving the fact that this is not in the same spot as the other times that I do this. Honestly don't know if Shark would have a better singing voice, but I do honestly want to this like normal.

Chapter Nine: Shark's New Plan
Back in the ruined fortress on the Desolate Isles, Tes, Bil and Greg had regrouped in another room. Night had fallen over the island when they emerged from hiding. The light from the moon through the window gave the chamber a sickly looking green color. While Tes moved over to one of the holes in the wall to keep a look out, Bil and Greg were stretching or rubbing a sore part of their bodies. Bil groaned from feeling a sore spot and said, "Man, that lousy Queen Coral.
"My bruises will have bruises for week." He complained when he looked into his tunic. Greg must have found it funny as he started laughing hysterically. This made Bil look to him with a glare and he said, "It's not funny, Greg."
The mental Scavenger covered his mouth to keep from laughing, but he couldn't hold it in and busted out laughing again. Bil became really angry by this and shouted, "Just shut up!"
But when Greg didn't stop laughing, it made Bil lash out in anger by using what water he had and splash it in Greg's face. The mental Scavenger sputtered from the water in his face and stumbled a little before looking to his kin with a glare. Bending the water off of him, he sent it right back at Bil's face. Bil gave a comical scream as he was knocked off his feet. He looked up at him with a glare before yelling in anger as he tackled into Greg. As the two rolled across the ground, Bil landed a punch to Greg's face before the two started rolling again. The two rolled all the way to the door where their hair was soon messed up. Bil looked down at Greg in anger as Greg had a grip on Bil's hair. From where she was standing, Tes could hear the boys fighting between themselves and she groaned in irritation. When she turned around to face them, she became weirded out when the two had gotten back up and started comically slapping each other while keeping their faces back. Shaking her head, she looked to the two and shouted, "Will you two knock it off already!"
Her shout echoed throughout the room and it startled the boys into stopping their little spat. Pointing to the mental Scavenger Bil said, "Well, he started it by being a laughing idiot."
Greg gave a hurt look while placing a hand to his chest. Bil turned his head away and said, "I'm not taking it back."
"Just look at you guys." Tes commented as she walked over to them. With a shake of her head she said, "It's not wonder we're dangling at the bottom of the of the food chain."
"Ugh, don't remind me." Bil shook his head as they all hated where they were. The female Scavenger gestured to the outside and said, "If it weren't for the Seawings running around, we'd be able to do like out ancestors. Be able to feed ourselves."
"Yeah, they're the worst." Bil agreed and Greg nodded. Tes got in their faces when she said, "So pushy.
"And they smell of fish." Bill added with a chuckle. Then he and Tes said in unison, "And man are they ugly!"
All three of the Scavengers broke out into a fit of laughter over this. But they were interrupted when a deep voice said, "If it wasn't for our arrangements I'd take great offense to that."
All three of them looked to see Shark standing in the whole where Tes had been keeping watch. They took a slight breath of relief when they saw their dragon ally. Bil chuckled before saying, "Oh, Shark. It's just you."
"We just thought it was somebody important." Tes added, earning a slight glare from the brother of the queen. But Shark's face softened a little as he had business with these three. The Seawing took a step in and started to ask, "Tes, are your skills with the water getting a little rusty?"
"No, I've been practicing." Tes said as she thought about her performance. Shark gave a slight shake of his head when he then asked, "And has these two's intelligence has greatly declined recently?"
"Hey!" Bil glared up at the sea dragon while Greg gave an unhappy groan. Tes shrugged as she said, "Well, given that I work with them, I'd say so. But they did try their-"
"THEN HOW-" Shark angrily started shout when he took a threatening step closer to the three Scavengers. They all stepped back in fear from his anger as he questioned, "Is it that the three of you are in capable of disposing of three dragonets?!"
"It wasn't our fault." Tes tried to defend themselves as she gestured between her and the boys. Bil even spoke up, "Yeah, we-"
"And after I effortlessly sent them your way." The Seawing prince shook his head as he came closer. But he stopped when Tes told him, "We almost had them, but they weren't exactly alone."
"Yeah, Queen Coral showed up before we could finish the job." Bil added when he thought of how the encounter went down. He looked between his fellow Scavengers and then asked, "What exactly were we supposed to do?
"Kill Coral?" He asked with a skeptical look on his face. The reasons seemed to ease Shark a little as he calmed down. Turning back to the hole in the wall he reached around the opening for something. The three Scavengers tried to look and wondered what it could be. Like when he first met the trio, General Shark had brought them a shark. He tossed the carcass before the trio and they all jumped back to avoid being squashed by it. The shark landed before them and they looked back to the Seawing. Tes then asked, "Are we still working together?"
"For the time being." Shark confirmed. Pointing to the shark with a talon he said, "I'd call for someone to get this to your younglings. No doubt that they're starving."
Knowing that he had a point, Tes looked behind her before placing two fingers in her mouth and giving a sharp whistle. A moment or two later, a number of Scavengers came into the room and saw the shark laying on the floor. But just as they were about to go and get it, they saw the Seawing prince standing there. They became fearful but Tes was quick to reassure them, "He won't harm you. Collect the bounty and take it to feed those who need it."
The group of Scavengers warily moved over to the shark carcass and some grabbed a hold of it while others used their powers to slightly lift it off the ground. They all worked together to pull it out of the room. When they were gone, the three turned back to their guest and Tes asked, "So, what's the plan now, oh Scowling One?"
Ignoring the last bit of the comment, Shark turned to where he looked up to one of the highest windows in the room. If one were able to hear it, the sounds of ominous sounding spirits could be heard vocalizing. The light of the moon shined down through it and cast a light on the sea dragon. Lowering his head, he closed his eyes and said, "In the past, I had never thought Scavengers to be essential. Some would say that you are an unreliable sort."
It earned some slight glares from the three behind him. But before they could make themselves heard, he continued, "But you do have potential. And when I align it to my vision and brain."
This made the Scavengers look to him with questioning looks. Shark took a deep breath and turned around. In some way as he walked towards them, clouds appeared before the moon and it almost looked like a spotlight was moving when he reached a certain step. He looked over the three of them and started to sing, I know that your powers of retention
Are as wet as a sea bird's backside, He stated in song as he walked around the three Scavengers. Greg seemed to become a little distracted as he started to scratch the back of his neck. Shark leaned his head down when he was behind them, But thick as you are…
Pay attention! He snapped when he came around the mental Scavenger. This made Greg snap into attention while saluting the Seawing. Even the other two moved back with worried looks on their faces. Moving around the lone Scavenger again he lifted his head and looked regal, For my words are a matter of pride
It's clear from your vacant expressions, He sang when he moved behind Greg once more. Shark waved his talons before the Scavenger's face while the mental one gave wink and a wide grin, The lights are not all on upstairs
But we're talking about royal successions, The Seawing said as a slight grin formed on his face when he backed away from Greg. From the side, both Tes and Bil looked to each other. But they were startled when Shark rushed up to them and got in their faces, Even you can't be caught unawares
The action had caused the two Scavengers to fall to the ground. They looked up to the sea dragon and found him looking down on them. But then he turned away and walked out the hole in the wall. Moving to a set of stairs, the Seawing opened up his wings and jumped. Flying up to the top he landed and sang, So prepare for the chance of a lifetime
Be prepared for sensational news, He glanced back to the room the three were in before walking around a tower attached to the stairs. Coming around he sounded proud when he sang, A shiny new era
Is tiptoeing nearer, He jumped down from the stairs and walked across the courtyard. As he moved past a pile of rubble, Tes poked her head out and asked in song, And where do we feature?
Just listen to teacher, Shark told her while rubbing the top of her head and messing her hair up. He started walking away from her and she lifted up her head with an annoyed glare to the sea dragon. Tes fixed her hair as Shark continued to sing, I know it sounds sordid but you'll be rewarded
When at last I am given my dues, Shark sang as he jumped up and climbed to the top of a ruined tower. He turned to where he looked down upon the three Scavengers and shouted, Then injustice will be deliciously squared
Be Prepared!, He roared up to the heavens above. From down on the ground, Bil and Greg joined Tes as they all looked up to the dragon. They all looked up to Shark as Bil shrugged, "Yeah, we'll be prepared.
"But for what, exactly?" He asked, not really following what the Seawing was saying. Placing his front talons on the edge of the tower, Shark dramatically shouted, "For the death of the Queen!"
"What exactly are you getting at, Shark?" Tes questioned as she placed her hands on her hips. Bil, who at some point had quickly climbed to the top of the tower, stood next to the Seawing and shook his head, "Yeah, she doesn't seem to be close to Death's door."
He grunted when Shark grabbed him in his talons and held him close. The Scavenger looked quite scared when he looked into the dragon's eyes. Shark then explained, "We are going to be the ones that push her through that door.
"And Tsunami as well at the least." He added before letting the Scavenger fall. Bil grunted when he landed on the ground, but was thankful that Shark hadn't dropped him over the edge. The other two had run up and seemed to agree with the plan as Tes asked, "Great idea! Who needs a queen?"
She and Greg started to dance while she and Bil, as he clapped with glee, started to sing together, No king, no king, la-la la-la la la
"You fools!" Shark roared when he got in their faces, scaring them out of their potential joy. He growled as he stated to them, "There will be a ruler of the Kingdom of the Sea!"
This confused the three as Bil raised a hand and he started to say, "Hey, but you just said…"
"I will be king! And then my daughter will be queen when she is ready." Shark told them with a glare. Backing away he then promised them, "Stick with me…
"And you and your kin will be able to prosper once again!" He shouted as he racked his claws against the stone and made sparks fly. Some sparks landed on torches and set the old lights ablaze. It caused the tower to take on a brighter look as Bil cheered, "Oh, yeah! All right!"
"Long live the king!" Tes shouted and turned to look over the tower. The burning lights from the tower had caused many other Scavengers to come out and start lighting more torches. She, Bil and the others down below chanted in unison, "Long live the king! Long live the king!"
All the Scavengers started to cheer for their potential future as the three moved back down to the tower. Once they were before their kin, they all turned to look up to Shark. He stood up their looking regal as they all raised their fists and sang, It's great that we'll soon be connected
With a king who'll be all-time adored, They all started to move where they stood in rows with Tes, Bil and Greg still at the front. Shark looked over each of them as he sang, Of course, quid pro quo your expected
To take certain duties on board, He gave an example by making a slashing motion with his talon across his throat. Some of the Scavengers moved off and gathered materials that they would need while others stayed where they were. The Seawing then told them of the bounties when he becomes the monarch of the sea, The future is littered with prizes
And though I'm the main addressee, He told them while placing a paw to his chest. He seemed quite calm at first when he sang, The point that I must emphasize is
He jumped down from the tower and fell right towards the gathering of Scavengers. They all screamed as they moved to get out of the way. While most were able to avoid getting crushed, one Scavenger had fallen onto his rear when Shark landed before him. The impact created large cracks in the ground. The moon above suddenly turned red and it caused everything on the Isle to take on a red hue as Shark got closer to the lone Scavenger. The cracks created from the Seawing's landing started to grow around Shark and under the Scavenger. Shark got in his face and roared, You won't get a sniff without me!
The unfortunate Scavenger fell through the growing crack with a scream. But he only got a little stuck in the ground when the crack stopped growing. Shark reached down and plucked the furless creature out. When he set him down, the Seawing moved towards some rubble and jumped to the top as he sang, So prepare for the coup of the century
Be prepared for the murkiest scam, He jumped onto a small bridge where a group of Scavengers stood. He moved past them as they vocalized and shook their hips, Oooh! La la-la la-la
Meticulous planning, Shark said when he jumped onto the top of a small building and turned to another group of Scavengers. They raised their fists to him as he continued, Tenacity spanning
Decades of denial, He said, thinking of how he believed him and his daughter to have been cheated the throne. He turned and looked down between all the Scavengers, Is simply why I'll be king undisputed
Respected, saluted, He thought as the dreams of being king made him grow more hungry for it. The Scavengers down below all harmonized together, Oooh!
And seen for the wonder I am, He dramatically and vainly sang as he placed a paw to his chest. A group of Scavengers were gathering up what weapons that they head while a smaller group beside them vocalized in unison, Aaaaaaah, aaaaaaah, aaaaaaah
Yes, my teeth and ambitions are bared, Shark sang when he returned to the tower that he had started from. He turned back to them and puffed out his chest as he sang, Be prepared
All the Scavengers in the fortress started to celebrate the thought of being able to go further than the Desolate Isles to where they wanted. Some danced with one another while others embraced in happiness. A few started to make a big fire while one shook his head wildly. One of them banged some sticks on some pieces of metal as if they were part of a xylophone. Closest to the tower, Bil, Tes and Greg each had an arm around the Scavenger next to them as they and the army of Scavengers sang in unison, Yes, our teeth and skills and ambitions are bared
Be Prepared! They and Shark all sang in unison as the music to the reader started to die down. The Scavengers all started to cheer again as they would soon come up with another plan to help Shark and his daughter take the throne of the Kingdom of the Sea and get them all that they wanted.
Knowing that they had work to do, Shark once again came down from the tower. This time he landed a distance from them and

Author's Note: I know that this is a lot different than how I usually go about it, but I kind of liked doing it this way. And to Abyssdancer, I am glad to have caught your review to the story. I hope that you find this entertaining. I have no idea right now how I want the next chapter to go, but I'll figure it out. Maybe I'll be inspired by the good Lord to write a filler chapter before we get to a difficult chapter. After all, a stampede isn't really going to make sense for this story. Also, I put in a special reference in this chapter. If someone is able to guess it I'll give them a special shout out in the next chapter. I look forward to reading your reviews.. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
