I thank my father so much for Parker, even more so today. It was thanks to Parker we finally know who was behind John's disappearance. Langstrom Fischler.

It appears that Parker is much more devious than even I had given him credit for. He is still in contact with a large number of his former contacts. He says he "keeps them sweet", and they pass him information when needed. They all know that Parker now has "friends in high places", and neither they nor he are above using that fact to the best advantage. I will have to have a conversation with him about that at some stage, but right now I will just be grateful.

It seems that one of his old "friends" has a nephew who is unemployed, but works as a `freelance communications engineer'…which in his case, means that he is good at listening in on private conversations. This fellow had been reading about some of Fischler's unsuccessful experiments, and bugged his office and main lab, hoping for some gossip he could use to his own advantage.

He found some, it seemed, and passed his recordings to his shady uncle who passed it on to Parker. Fischler had been overheard recruiting some people to get International Rescue out of his hair for just a few weeks, until he can market his latest invention.

The tragedy is, I don't think that Fischler is a bad person as such, simply lazy and careless, always in too much of a hurry to worry about following necessary safety procedures. This time he was determined to test and market his latest invention without "Interference from International Rescue". He went a step too far. In fact, several steps too far.

Recording private conversations is illegal in the US and would not be considered as admissible evidence. Of course the laws in England are not quite the same, but as far as we are aware at this time, there are no circumstances that would allow any case against Fischler to be tried in a British court of law.

If we ever manage to get any material evidence we can use, I really think he will end up going to prison this time, even though if confronted, he would likely insist that kidnapping was the last thing on his mind. Maybe he needs guidance. I have an idea that might help everyone; if Fischler ever gets out of jail, at least.

Back to Parker. He has repeatedly proven himself invaluable to me in so many ways, especially in our work for International Rescue. Kayo and I gave him the assistance he asked for. A very public disagreement shall we say, and him leaving my employ.

It seems his suspicions were spot on. There are many nefarious groups desperate enough for the secrets of International Rescue who would snap him up. He waited, carefully vetted his offers, then accepted the offer of a group operating out of Iceland.

He has refused to use any kind of a tracker. Eos doing her best to keep tabs on his life signs was the most he would agree to. He has 'gone dark'; meaning we are not to try to find or contact him until he contacts us first.

So now we wait.
