PARKER
I figure that I will just stay close with these blokes, and foller their lead until we know that Kayo has arrived. I can be a distraction if she needs it, or whatever she needs. I know she ain't likely to come in the front door, so knowin' Kayo, she'll be up and over the back wall in no time and be 'idin' in the back room with John. Prob'ly right nar.
I can't kip goin' out to check on John though, coz I seem to 'ave managed to persuade these fellers that I 'ate 'im, and all the Tracy's and everythin' they stand fer.
Quite 'ow I did that I dunno. That test, tellin' me to shoot John. They was waitin' ter see wot I would do. They gave me an empty gun, or rather, a gun loaded with a single blank cartridge, but in the second chamber rather than the first. To see wot I would do.
Am I gun happy, or just obedient? I can't decide nar if I did the right thing going through with pullin' the trigger. I was certain in my mind there were no live rounds in the gun they give me, but I ain't 'ad the chance to tell 'em that. Now I wonder if that was not a test of my loyalty to them so much as a test of my character. In which case they will 'ave me darn nar as a trigger-'appy maniac 'oo should be kept an eye on when there are weapons around.
I found out that the bloke 'oo shot John in the hotel 'as bin reassigned to cleanin' the loos and peelin' the spuds. They did get someone with first aid knowledge to clean and dress John's shoulder a coupla times, but really they ain't too worried, coz anyfin that 'appens to John will be put at the feet of the bloke wot 'ired 'em.
Langstrom Fischler, the great fool. These blokes assure me they have ways o makin' sure they never get caught. I did arsk 'em if they 'ad spies in the police or wotever…not tryin' ter give 'em ideas yer see, an' they said no. They don't need 'em.
It seems that one of the first people they 'elped…a person oo is nar in their debt…later became very important. A person with authority to order even the GDF to release a prisoner or stop chasin' someone. Coz their 'old over this person is so strong, they fink they can do anyfin they want anywhere in the world, and no one can touch 'em.
The world president!
When Kayo and Milady find out, they're gonna want me to stay put and try and find the proof, the evidence these blokes 'ave on everyone they…elp.
Right nar I am sittin' in a bedroom at the front of the 'ouse, actin' as lookout. All I can see…
I narrow my eyes, then raise the binoculars I've bin given. Yup, there is movement in the grass. Blokes, about ten of 'em I reckon scootin' on their bellies and elbows through the scrubby grass. They're doin' pretty well blendin' in I'd say, coz they are making their movements blend in with the sweeping of the winds. It's the only way to get to this place unseen tho, unless you use the old, tired "bus full of tourists" approach, which no sane bloke would fall for. I'm glad they ain't tried that one. They would 'ave to be the GDF darn there, which means Kayo will 'ave called 'em.
Kayo is here. She'll 'ave come over the wall and she'll be in with John right nar.
Good.
If we don't get John to a 'ospital soon, 'e's a gonner for sure. Kayo will protect John from anyone 'oo tries anyfin. I gotta be ready to do my job.
Them GDF blokes will get 'ere in…wot, twenty minutes?
I'll be ready!
