A/N: The summer is over and Jason has to get used to a new high school. Luckily, he's already got some friends.

Disclaimer: I don't own the Karate Kid movies, Cobra Kai or anything else that I might reference.

New School Vibes

The rest of the summer went by pretty quickly, but Jason wasn't complaining.

In fact, he was almost looking forward to his first day at West Valley High.

He got out of bed as soon as the alarm went off.

Jason grabbed a Judas Priest t-shirt, blue jeans, underwear and a pair of black socks along with a towel before walking into the bathroom.

He showered and got dressed before making his way downstairs.

Jason had mostly lived on takeout and fast food during the summer.

Going to a new high school would change that pretty quickly.

He had a chance to do some shopping a day or so ago, so it wasn't as if he was going to starve.

Jason took a packet of bacon out of the fridge and opened it before grabbing a frying pan. He also took an egg out of the fridge and grabbed a different frying pan. Finally, he took out two slices of bread and put them in the toaster.

He cooked the bacon before cracking the egg against a pan and letting the yolk and egg white fall into it.

After frying the egg, he got a plate and put the one piece of toast on a plate before putting the bacon on that piece of toast and putting the fried egg on top. He then puts the other piece of toast on top of the bacon and fried egg.

Jason takes the plate and walks over to the dining table.

He then walks to the fridge and takes out a Coke.

Jason walks back to the dining table and sits down.

He picks up the bacon and fried egg sandwich and starts eating.

It had been a while since he'd had a homecooked meal, so he savoured every bite.

He finishes his Coke before cleaning the now empty plate.

Jason puts the plate back where he keeps the plates.

He goes back upstairs in order to grab his wallet, phone and keys from his room.

Jason also takes a jacket out of his room and puts it on.

He puts his wallet, phone and keys in his pockets before making his way back downstairs.

Jason opens the door and steps outside after finding a backpack to put whatever he needed for class into.

He closes the door behind him and locks it.

Jason walks over to the Dodge Viper and gets in the driver's seat after unlocking it.

He turns on the radio as he starts the car.

Jason lowers the windows and drives off with music blaring.

He was feeling pretty excited about starting at West Valley High.

Mainly because not that many people knew him and he had a chance to make new friends in addition to the friends he'd made during the summer.

.

Jason managed to find a parking space.

He gets out of the Dodge Viper and grabs his backpack from the passenger seat before locking the car.

Jason looks up at the West Valley High building before walking into it.

There are people walking around everywhere.

Jason does manage to spot one familiar face, though.

"Hey, Jason." Miguel walks over to where Jason is standing.

Jason smiles. "Hey, Miguel. What's up?"

"Not much. Who's your homeroom teacher?" Miguel asks.

Jason takes out his schedule and looks at it. "Mrs Peterson. I think."

"I think we've got the same homeroom teacher." Miguel says.

Jason looks surprised. "Really? That's awesome."

"Yeah. I don't really know anybody here, so it would be good to have a familiar face around." Miguel replies.

Jason nods. "I can see how having a familiar face around would help. But don't worry, I made a couple of friends over the summer and I'm pretty certain that they go here. I can introduce you to them if you want."

"Thanks. That would be great. And much appreciated." Miguel answers.

Jason grins. "You're welcome. I'm sure you'd get along great with them."

"I think I will. Doesn't class start soon?" Miguel wonders.

Jason checks his phone. "It's going to start soon. So, we'd better get moving."

He puts his phone back in his pocket.

Jason and Miguel walk to their homeroom class.

They just about managed to make it on time.

People are walking into the room and sitting down at different desks.

Jason notices Moon and Claire sitting at two separate desks. Moon doesn't really notice him and Claire gives him a smile and a wave.

There are two empty desks in the middle of the room.

Jason sits down at one desk and Miguel sits down at the other desk.

"Is she a friend of yours?" Miguel asks.

Jason nods. "Yeah. I'll introduce you to her and some of the other friends I made during the summer."

"That would be great. Thanks." Miguel says.

Jason is about to say something before the announcements come on and someone gives an announcement that officially welcomes everybody back to West Valley High.

Mrs Peterson gives a little announcement of her own before everybody leaves the room.

Jason and Miguel walk up to Claire, who is about to get to her first class.

They pause when they're more or less in front of Claire.

Jason does the talking. "Hi, Claire."

"Hey, Jason. Who's your friend?" Claire asks.

Jason motions towards Miguel. "This is Miguel."

"I think you might have mentioned him before. But it's good to finally meet you." Claire extends a hand out to Miguel.

Miguel shakes Claire's hand. "It's good to meet you too."

"Thank you. You'll get acclimatised to this place pretty quickly. It's just the same as any other high school." Claire answers.

Miguel smiles. "I'll keep that in mind. Thanks."

"You're welcome. I guess I'll see you two later, then." Claire says.

She walks off, leaving Jason and Miguel standing in the hallway.

Miguel looks at Jason. "I'd better get to class. See you around, though."

"See you." Jason watches as Miguel walks off.

He checks his schedule just to make sure what class he's got next.

The first day at West Valley High was going pretty well.

He'd already met Miguel and Claire.

Demetri, Eli, Sam and Aisha probably went to West Valley High as well.

So, there's a pretty good chance that he'd see them.

He walks off to his first class.

As much as he didn't care about being late, he did want to make a good first impression.

.

Johnny drove to Bobby's house as soon as he'd gotten the call about Tommy.

He parked the Pontiac Firebird outside of Bobby's house and got out of the car.

Johnny walked up to the front door of Bobby's house and knocked.

"Johnny! Bobby's just inside." Violet opens the door.

Johnny nods. "Thanks."

Violet steps back to let him into the house.

Johnny watches as Violet closes the door.

"Bobby was going to get in touch with you sooner about Tommy's diagnosis but it came as quite a shock to everybody." Violet explains.

Johnny understands. "Right."

"I'd better leave you to it." Violet says.

Johnny nods. "Thanks."

He walks into the dining room of Bobby's house and notices Bobby sitting at the table.

"Hey, Johnny. I'm sorry for not calling you sooner. Things were a bit hectic and I wanted to be sure that Jimmy knew as well. " Bobby starts to explain.

Johnny sits down. "You don't have to explain."

"Tommy was, sorry, is your friend as much as he is mine and Jimmy's. Well, and Dutch, too." Bobby replies.

Johnny sits forward a little bit. "So, what exactly is the diagnosis?"

"Cancer. And it's terminal." Bobby answers.

Johnny almost goes into shock. "How long does he have?"

"I really don't know. He could have until tomorrow or he could live for quite a bit longer than that. There's no real way of knowing for sure." Bobby replies.

Johnny sits back in his chair. "Do his family know?"

"They do. And we know. So, it's not like Tommy is going to go through it alone." Bobby says.

Johnny nods. "Good. Well, he'd be there for us too if it was one of us that had cancer. It's the least we could do."

"Exactly. He's been a part of our lives for so long. And I think we should give him a proper send-off when the time comes." Bobby suggests.

Johnny agrees with the suggestion. "I think I know where we could go for that."

"Coyote Creek? Or Big Bear?" Bobby wonders aloud.

Johnny ponders the question. "Probably Big Bear. Or somewhere like that. Hopefully it's not something that we will have to think about for a while."

"You're probably right. So, how have you been?" Bobby changes the subject slightly.

Johnny lets out a breath. "Things are going pretty well, actually. I'm finally doing something that gives me purpose."

"What's that? Not another handyman job? Is it?" Bobby asks.

Johnny shakes his head. "I'm a Sensei now."

"You opened your own dojo?" Bobby almost sounds incredulous.

Johnny isn't quite sure what to say. "Well, I reopened Cobra Kai."

"Why? After everything that John Kreese did? He tried to kill you for losing back in '84. I don't know why you even thought that bringing back Cobra Kai was a good idea." There's a hint of anger in Bobby's voice.

Johnny understands where Bobby is coming from. "I know. But things are different. I'm not training my students the way he did."

"But you are training his grandson, right?" Bobby asks.

Johnny nods. "Yeah. He's one of my students."

"Students? So, you have more than one student?" Bobby asks.

Johnny smiles slightly. "Yeah. I've only got two students, though. Nobody's really joined up yet. Maybe they're just waiting for the right moment."

"Maybe." Bobby agrees.

Johnny has an idea. "Would you consider letting Claire join Cobra Kai?"

"I would. But I want you to promise me something…" Bobby starts.

Johnny leans forward. "What?"

"I want you to promise that she's going to be safe. Or, as safe as she can be." Bobby continues.

Johnny thinks about it before answering. "I promise that she's going to be safe. I'm her godfather after all. And I'm practically her uncle."

"Good. Speaking of family, have you managed to talk to Robby?" Bobby asks.

Jason shakes his head. "I haven't. I've just been really busy. And Shannon isn't exactly making it easy."

"Look, nobody said that being a parent would easy. Take it from someone who knows a thing or two about being a parent. But it's a hugely rewarding experience. And it's not something I would change for the world." Bobby remarks.

Johnny scratches his head. "I think you're right. But I can't help but feeling like I've left it too late."

"It's never too late, trust me. I think I should text Claire the good news and tell her that she can train with you. And I need to give Tommy and Jimmy another call." Bobby does his best to reassure Johnny.

Johnny pushes his chair back and stands up. "I'd better go."

"Remember what I said. It's never too late." Bobby says.

Johnny nods. "Thanks."

He walks through the house to the front door before opening the door and stepping outside.

Johnny closes the door and walks towards the Pontiac Firebird.

He unlocks the door and gets in the driver's seat of the car.

There was plenty of time before training, so he could go and see Tommy.

Because he knew that Tommy needed all the support he could get.

.

Jason walks into the cafeteria.

He notices Miguel standing in front of him in the line for lunch.

"Hey, Jason." Miguel turns around while still keeping his place in the line.

Jason smiles. "Hey, man. How's your first day going?"

"It's going pretty well. What about you?" Miguel asks.

Jason sort of shrugs. "I think it's going well. There's one or two familiar faces in one of my classes, so it's not like I don't know anybody. Don't worry, I'll introduce you to Demetri, Eli, Aisha and possibly Sam. I think you'd get along with them."

"That would be cool. I don't really know anybody here. Well, apart from you and Claire, I mean." Miguel answers.

Jason scratches his head. "Well, that's kind of what happens when you're in a new place. You don't know anybody and then you slowly start making friends. Or something."

"You're probably right." Miguel agrees.

The line keeps moving until they both get their lunch.

Jason looks around for a place to sit until he sees Claire sitting at a table with Demetri and Eli.

He gently nudges Miguel. "I think we've found a place to sit. Let's go before somebody else Bogarts it."

Miguel follows Jason as they walk to the table where Claire, Demetri and Eli are sitting.

"Is it cool if we sit here?" Miguel asks just as Jason is about to sit down.

It's almost a formality, but it was nice to ask.

Demetri nods. "Sure."

Jason and Miguel sit down.

"I'm Miguel, by the way." Miguel introduces himself.

Demetri introduces himself. "I'm Demetri. And this is Eli. He's not exactly the most talkative person. I see you've already met Claire."

"Thanks for the introductions..." Miguel starts.

Demetri looks behind him and sees Yasmine, Moon and Sam walking past them.

Jason notices that Miguel is checking out Sam but doesn't say anything.

Demetri speaks up. "They're the rich girls. And they're so far out of our league that it's not even funny."

"Do you ever talk to them? Because I don't think they'd be that unapproachable." Miguel remarks.

Demetri rolls his eyes. "Oh yeah, all the time. We hang out after school, make out and give each other hand jobs. Eli here is the Homecoming king. He gets laid more than anyone. Isn't that right, Eli?"

Eli makes a snorting noise that sounds like he's laughing. Or at least trying to laugh.

Jason looks at the table where Yasmine, Moon and Sam are sitting.

"Why don't you just talk to them? The worst thing they can say to you is "No," after all." Jason interjects.

Demetri looks at Jason like he's grown a second head. "Talk to them? They're so far out of our league that it's not even funny. Yeah, I know that Claire is sitting here and she's a girl…"

"But I'm different to them?" Claire cuts in.

Demetri thinks about it. "Kind of."

"I think Yasmine's looking at us. She's probably just making fun of me." Eli notices Yasmine looking over at them.

Miguel looks at Eli. "I'm not sure if she's making fun of you. I mean, just because they're hot doesn't mean they're mean. Right?"

"I don't care if she is the meanest girl here. I'd kill all four of you just to get her to spit in my face." Demetri has an almost wistful expression on his face.

Jason looks nonplussed. "Seriously? Nobody's worth that kind of humiliation."

"Just go and talk to her. What's the worst that can happen?" Miguel suggests.

Demetri thinks about it. "She could reject me. Which would be pretty humiliating."

"It's still better than doing nothing." Jason says.

Claire agrees. "Jason's right. And it's also better to know for sure than spending your life wondering what might have been."

"You got anything to add, Eli?" Jason asks.

Eli shakes his head. "Um. Not really."

"I'm at peace with my depression. The last thing that I need to be is suicidal." Demetri speaks up again.

Jason thinks of a retort pretty quickly. "That doesn't really sound much like living to me. It just sounds like winding down the clock."

Demetri ignores him.

Miguel rises to his feet.

"What are you doing?" Demetri asks.

Miguel smiles. "Striking first."

He walks over to the table where Yasmine, Moon and Sam are sitting.

"Oh shit. I hope we don't get hit with the shrapnel." Demetri almost deadpans.

Jason gets up and follows Miguel over to the table where Sam is sitting.

Brucks sits down on an empty chair with his back to Miguel.

Kyler sits down beside Sam and puts an arm around her.

He waves at Miguel.

Brucks joins in. "See you later, Rhea."

"Don't mind them. They're just idiots." Jason retorts.

Kyler stands up. "What did you say, Lurch?"

"You're both idiots. And I already kicked both your asses." Jason replies.

Demetri looks at Jason with a fearful expression. "Oh shit."

Eli looks kind of terrified.

Claire pushes her chair back and stands up.

Brucks looks at Kyler. "Are you just going to take that?"

"He's right, Lurch. I don't have to take that kind of shit from you." Kyler squares up to Jason.

Jason practically pushes past Brucks and gets in Kyler's face. "You want me to kick your ass again? Because I can kick your ass again if you really want me to."

They glare at each other and are about to start shoving each other.

"Boys, are we going to have a situation?" They hear a woman's voice.

Jason takes a few steps back. "Nope."

"Good. You should keep your hands to yourself." The woman walks away.

Jason and Miguel walk back to their table.

Kyler watches as they walk off. "Yeah, you better run! Blatt's not going to be around to protect you forever, Lurch! Our fight at the pool party was a fluke and you know it!"

"Whatever." Jason decides to ignore him.

Claire checks her phone. "Well, I've got some good news."

"Really?" Miguel asks.

Claire nods. "Yeah. You guys are doing karate, right?"

"Yep. It's called Cobra Kai." Miguel replies.

Claire smiles. "Well, my dad let me join. And he said that I can start training with you guys from today."

"Awesome." Jason says.

Claire agrees. "Hell yes."

The bell rings and Jason grabs his backpack before walking out with Miguel, Claire, Demetri and Eli.

Everything had been going pretty well so far.

Even if Jason nearly got into a fight with Kyler again.

.

The rest of the day went by without any further incident.

Jason walked to his locker.

He was surprised to see Aisha standing at his locker.

"Hi, Jason. I saw that video of you fighting Kyler at Sam's pool party." Aisha says.

Jason raises an eyebrow at this statement. "Really? I didn't think it was that big of a deal. And, I didn't really win."

"That doesn't matter. You still stood up to them." Aisha replies.

Jason nods. "I kind of did."

"And you did it without anybody asking you. Which was pretty cool." Aisha adds.

Jason smiles slightly. "Yeah. I guess it kind of was."

"So, how are you finding West Valley High?" Aisha asks.

Jason shrugs. "It's fine, I guess. I've been able to adjust pretty well. And that's because I had made friends before starting here."

"I'm glad to hear it. So, you're doing karate, right?" Aisha asks.

Jason nods slowly. "Yeah."

"Do you think I could join the dojo that you're training in?" Aisha continues.

Jason thinks about it. "If you want. It's just been me and Miguel for the last few weeks."

"I'll think about it, then. See you around." Aisha says.

Jason watches as Aisha walks away.

He wonders if he should talk to Sensei about potentially taking on more students.

Training with Miguel was great, but two or three people didn't exactly constitute a dojo.

He takes his backpack and gets some stuff from his locker before walking back to where he'd parked.

Training was after school and he didn't want to be late.

So, he hurried. Or at least tried to.

.

Jason parked the Dodge Viper in a parking space outside of the dojo.

He noticed a blue Volkswagen Beetle in a parking space near enough to the one that he had parked in.

It was highly unlikely that it was Sensei's car, so it had to be Claire's car.

Sure enough, he saw Claire leaning against the wall outside the dojo.

He also saw Miguel arriving.

Jason got out of the Dodge Viper and locked it.

He saw Miguel lock his bike before walking to the door of the dojo.

"Hey, Jason. Hey, Claire." Miguel greets Jason and Claire with a smile.

Jason nods. "Hey, Miguel."

"Hey, Miguel." Claire greets Miguel with a smile.

They don't have long to wait.

Sensei's Pontiac Firebird pulled into one of the empty parking spaces.

They watched as Sensei got out of the car and walked to the door with keys in his hand.

Sensei unlocked the door and opened it.

"Well? Are you coming in or not?" Sensei looks at them.

They all nod. "Yes, Sensei!"

Sensei walks into the dojo and they follow him.

The door closes behind Claire.

"We have a new student joining us! I know you have already been introduced, so don't bother pointing that out. She's practically family to me, so I want you to treat her with respect. Is that understood?" Sensei addresses Jason and Miguel.

Jason and Miguel look at each other before nodding. "Yes, Sensei!"

"Good." Sensei says.

Jason, Miguel and Claire each notice that there are three punching bags evenly spaced throughout the room.

Claire looks at one of the punching bags. "So, are we all going to be using those?"

"You will be working on your punches and kicks after you warm up. And you'll be sparring seeing as we've got enough students for that now. Diaz and Kreese have been working on their punches and kicks for the last few weeks, so you have some catching up to do." Sensei answers.

Claire smiles. "Yes, Sensei."

"Good. Now warm up!" Sensei almost barks.

Jason, Miguel and Claire each go through warm ups like stretching and quick footwork drills.

They walk over to the punching bags when their warmups are done.

Sensei walks around the room as they start practicing their punches and kicks.

Jason and Miguel have been training for longer than Claire, so their punches and kicks have more force and accuracy to them.

There are three wooden rectangular wooden boards about the size of an A4 sheet paper stacked in one part of the room.

They finish punching and kicking the punch bags after about fifteen minutes to half an hour.

Sensei picks up the wooden boards. "That was pretty good. Now, I want to see if you can break these boards. Who's going to be the first person to volunteer?"

"I'll do it." Jason is the first person to speak.

Sensei smiles. "Alright. Diaz, will you hold one of the boards, please?"

"Yes, Sensei!" Miguel exclaims.

Miguel walks over and takes one of the boards.

He holds the board in his hands and stretches his arms out.

Sensei quickly gives an instruction. "Kreese! Punch the board!"

"Yes, Sensei!" Jason yells.

He walks over to where Miguel is standing.

Jason punches through the board, breaking it in half.

Sensei has a smile on his face. "Good work, Kreese. Diaz, it's your turn."

Jason takes a board out of Sensei's hands.

He holds his arms out.

"You want me to punch the board?" Miguel asks.

Sensei shakes his head. "I want you to kick the board."

"Yes, Sensei!" Miguel nods.

He kicks the board, breaking it almost instantaneously.

Sensei looks happy with how Miguel broke the board. "Good work, Diaz! Brown, it's your turn!"

"Yes, Sensei!" Claire exclaims.

Miguel takes the last board out of Sensei's hands and holds it outstretched in his hands.

Sensei watches as Claire walks up to where Miguel is standing. "Let's see if you can punch through that board, Brown!"

Claire manages to punch through the board.

"I did it!" Claire exclaims.

Jason and Miguel congratulate her on breaking the board.

Sensei looks happy with their performance. "You all managed to break the boards, well done. But, breaking a board isn't the same as getting in an actual fight. Which is why two of you are going to spar. Diaz, Kreese. Get over here."

Jason and Miguel both nod.

They stand across from each other.

"Face me, bow. Face each other, bow. And get ready to fight. The first person to get three points wins." Sensei instructs.

Jason and Miguel bow to Sensei before facing each other and bowing.

They both get into fighting stances.

Jason and Miguel had been sparring at the end of training sessions in the dojo for the last few weeks.

So, they knew how the other person fights.

Miguel had improved a lot, even if Jason had been winning the sparring matches between them more often than not.

Jason throws a punch, but Miguel blocks it.

Miguel throws a punch, but Jason blocks it.

They circle around each other looking for an opening.

Miguel tries to kick Jason.

Jason blocks the kick and tries to aim a punch at Miguel's chest.

Miguel blocks the punch and lands a sort of jumping front kick on Jason, who stumbles back.

Sensei almost looks impressed. "Point, Diaz! The score is 1 – 0!"

Miguel goes on the offensive.

Jason blocks Miguel's punches and dodges out of the way of his kicks.

He manages to drop down and sweep Miguel's legs out from under him.

Jason then elbows Miguel in the chest.

Sensei claps his hands. "Point, Kreese! The score is 1 – 1!"

Jason helps Miguel back to his feet.

They bow to each other before getting back into their respective fighting stances.

Miguel starts throwing punches and kicks.

Jason blocks Miguel's punches and dodges his kicks.

Miguel tries to do a roundhouse kick but Jason catches his foot.

Jason tries to throw Miguel to the ground, but Miguel manages to stand his ground.

Miguel gets himself free from Jason's grip.

He tries to do a hook kick, but Jason blocks it.

Jason starts to go on the offensive.

He throws punches and kicks that Miguel either dodges or blocks.

Jason and Miguel trade punches and kicks before Jason manages to finally grab Miguel's leg and throw him to the ground.

He lands an elbow on Miguel's chest.

"Point, Kreese! The score is 2 – 1!" Sensei exclaims.

Jason helps Miguel back up to his feet again.

They each get back into a fighting stance after Miguel gets back on his feet.

Jason goes on the offensive almost immediately.

He throws a series of punches and kicks that force Miguel to move backwards before countering.

Miguel tries to throw a punch but Jason grabs his arm and kind of pulls him towards him.

Jason punches Miguel in the chest.

Sensei points to Jason. "Point, Kreese! The score is 3 – 1! Good work, guys. You've both really improved over the last few weeks. Especially Diaz."

Jason and Miguel bow before shaking hands.

"That wasn't my best performance, but I think I'm doing a lot better than when we sparred first." Miguel says.

Jason nods. "Yeah. You're not getting winded as much. Or at all."

"I think that's because I'm doing a lot more exercise. I've been doing some extra training as well as Cobra Kai training and I think it's paid off." Miguel points out.

Jason goes to grab a drink of water. "I think it has paid off. You're not the same as you were when you started training."

"Thanks." Miguel goes to grab a drink of water as well.

Sensei looks at Jason, Miguel and Claire. "I think that's enough training for today. Diaz, you've improved a lot since you started training. And, Brown, I think you've got some decent potential. You'll be on your dad's level soon enough."

"What about me, Sensei?" Jason asks.

Sensei smiles. "You're a damn good student, Kreese. But I don't want you getting a big head or anything."

"You don't have to worry about that, Sensei." Jason answers.

Sensei walks into his office. "See you tomorrow.

Jason, Miguel and Claire all walk out of the dojo.

They each go their separate ways after talking to each other and buying sodas at the bodega.

Jason is the last person to leave.

He turns on the radio in the Dodge Viper as he drives off into the night.

.

Jason parks the Dodge Viper in the driveway of his house and gets out.

He walks up to the front door and unlocks it.

Jason walks into his house and closes the door behind him.

He's about to sit down and order some food when his phone rings.

So, he answers it.

"Hey, Jason! It's Miguel!" Jason hears Miguel's voice.

He goes and sits down. "Hey, Miguel! What's up?"

"Not much. I was just wondering if you wanted have dinner at my place on Friday. Seeing as you're by yourself outside of school and training." Miguel replies.

Jason agrees. "Sure. I don't think I've met your folks, so it would be nice to actually meet them."

"Exactly. Well, it's just my mom, my Yaya and me. I never really knew my dad because my parents split up before I was born. At least that's what my mom says." Miguel remarks.

Jason nods. "Well, I look forward to meeting your family."

"They're really welcoming. So, there should be no issues." Miguel says.

Jason kind of changes the subject. "Good job almost talking to Sam. It's just a shame that Kyler ruined the moment."

"Thanks. You handled it pretty well though. I thought you and Kyler were going to have a fight before Blatt showed up. I'm sure you could have taken him if it came to that." Miguel replies.

Jason thinks about it. "I probably could have taken him. I mean, I almost beat him at the pool party. I would have won the fight for sure if Sam's dad hadn't shown up."

"It didn't look like an even contest from what I saw of it." Miguel points out.

Jason agrees. "Yeah. I got some training for a few weeks in the summer before I joined Cobra Kai. And it really helped."

"Oh yeah. I almost forgot about that. I wonder if Sensei knew the person who trained you." Miguel speculates.

Jason almost shakes his head. "I doubt it."

"Cool. I guess I'll see you tomorrow, then." Miguel says before ending the call.

.

Jason decides to order in some food, so he calls a pizza place that delivers.

He turns on the TV and channel surfs for a bit.

Even though there was a clear gap between his martial arts skills and Miguel's, he was sure that gap would close fairly quickly. Especially now that Cobra Kai had another student.

Jason was just grateful for the fact that he had actually managed to make some friends before starting at West Valley High.

It made adjusting a lot easier.
