Holly and Jayne were both not expecting what they heard.
"What?" Jayne replied.
"It's a long story, but I had some good advice about not just doing something because people expect me to. The closer the wedding got, the more clear it's not working became." Chase was disappointed. They had been through a lot together, but he couldn't go through with it.
"I'm sorry to hear that. If you need a friend.." Before Jayne could finish, Chase spoke.
"I know, thank you. Maybe give me a call when you have time? I know your parents are planning their vow renewal." Chase knew it was getting close.
"Actually, you know Tiff and I have a few things to go over, but we can handle it." Holly looked at Jayne.
"Thank you. Maybe we can go grab a burger at Kelly's and talk? If you are up to it." Jayne wanted to be there for Chase.
Chase smiled and nodded. "I would like that."
The Townhouse
Holly walked inside as Tiffany looked back. "There you are! You know it was actually very wise of us to get Seana a dress a size up because she fits it perfectly."
Holly looked at her granddaughter, who was in her flower girl dress. "My darling girl, you look like a princess."
Seana grinned and went over to hug Holly.
"Are you sure you and Robert want to have the wedding here? Well, I guess if you weren't, it's a little too late, huh?" Tiffany looked around.
"I can think of no better place, I tried, but I really do love the idea of having our family in the place we feel most at home." Holly smiled as she sat down.
"I think that's very sweet." Tiffany told her friend as she helped Seana back into her regular clothes. "I tried to get Noah to try on his tux, but that was a battle I will let Robin and Patrick deal with."
Holly chuckled. "I meant to be back sooner. Jayne and I were taking care of something."
"Jackie? I saw the paper. That woman is really out there." Tiffany said before telling Seana to go play.
"She is. She is taking out her anger on Jayne, too." Holly hated that Jayne was having to deal with this.
"I know, it's absolutely crazy. I mean, I adore Robert, but I was over him long ago. Where is Jayne?" Tiffany asked Holly.
"Chase is having a rough time. She is spending some time with him." Holly said.
Kelly's
Chase and Jayne both ordered some food.
"If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine." Jayne didn't want Chase to feel like he had to share what went on with her.
"Honestly? Not right now. I know it's for the best, but I also know I have to call multiple people to tell them it's off." Chase was not looking forward to that at all, but like Robert advised him, it was easier than going through a divorce.
"Weddings get called off all the time. It would be worse to get into something your heart wasn't in." Jayne tried to think of something to hopefully make him feel better.
"You sound like your dad." Chase smiled at her.
"How so?" Jayne asked.
"Oh, just some advice he gave me recently." Chased replied.
"I always take it as a compliment that I am like either one of my parents. Speaking of, how is your father doing?" Jayne asked him. She knew his illness had been very hard on him.
"I wish I could say good, but I don't want to lie." Chase looked down. His bond with his father was probably the most precious thing he had in life. He knew he was losing him, and it was killing him.
Jayne reached out and placed her hand on his. "It really is okay to not be okay."
Chase looked up and smiled at her. "You know, you really are such a good friend. I hope you know how much I appreciate you."
"The same here, and I am always here. No matter what." Jayne told him.
