It was the weekend and as promised Elena took her daughter to Mystic Falls, so she spend the day with her Grandmother. Of course at first Elena was trying to talk to Bella into going to the zoo instead. But of course Bella wouldn't go for it since she really wanted to go to Mystic Falls, and Elena did promised her that she would take her. So here is Elena Gilbert sitting in the livingroom of her parents home. Her childhood home, with her daughter Bella and her Mom Miranda.
" So how are things going at the hospital?" Miranda asked as she took a sip of her iced tea.
" Everything is going great at the hospital. Of course, I've been busy with long hours and with surgeries that I have had all week. I'm just glad that I finally got the weekend off so I can bring Bella to Mystic Falls, so she can spend the day with you." Elena answered with a small smile.
Miranda nods her head." Well, I am glad that you guys are here. I miss my girls. Jeremy and his family barely comes to town anymore not since they moved to Chicago, and now that your father is gone. An old woman like myself can get lonely." She said with a soft chuckle.
" Mom, I'm sure Jeremy and his wife would love to fly back home and visit. But ever since Vicky got that big promotion for work. They've been really busy." Elena said as she shrugs her shoulders little. Jeremy's wife Vicky got promoted to a Manger assistant at a restaurant she is working at.
"Yeah, I guess," Miranda said as she took another drink of her iced tea before setting her glass down on the coffee table. "So, how are things going between you and Matt?"
"Things... um, things are good. He uh... asked me to marry him." Elena answered as she also took a drink of her iced tea.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah."
" Well, what did you tell him?"
" Nothing, I mean I just told him that I would think about it." Elena said as she shrugs her shoulders little.
"Why would you think about it? I thought you loved Matt." Miranda asked in confusion.
Elena exhales deeply as she nods her head." Of course, I love Matt. He's been really great and we haven't really had any problems or anything. Besides the fact we both have hectic schedules and we really haven't see much of each other lately. I'm just not sure if I'm in love with him anymore." Elena never really had doubts about Matt or their relationship until now.
"What makes you think that you're not in love with him anymore?"
Elena just shrugs her shoulders little." I don't know." Elena answered softly.
Miranda looks over Bella for a moment as she noticed of how much that little girl looks so much like her father. Miranda then clears her throat as she looks back at Elena." Wanna know what I think?"
Elena exhaled deeply as she rolled her eyes. "Not really, but you're going to tell me anyways."
" I think you're still in love with your ex and you may not want to admit it, but I know you. You really haven't been this happy since he left, and don't get me wrong. I love Matt and I think he's good for you. But honey we both know that he's not Damon."
Elena scoffs shaking her head." Damon left me remember? And I'm not in love with him or at least not anymore and I would really appreciate it if you didn't talk about him in front of Bella." Elena hissed. Bella still doesn't know about her father and Elena wants to keep it that way.
Miranda sighs as she shrugs her shoulders. "Fine, I won't talk about him anymore. But you know I'm right, and if you truly are not in love with Matt anymore, don't you think it's best to tell him now instead of stringing him along?" She asked.
Elena blew out a breath as she knows that her mom is right. She hates it that her mom's right. As much as Elena loves Matt. She's not in love with him anymore and she can't lead him on anymore. She has to end it before it's too late.
Walking her into the house with a sleeping Bella in her arms. Elena found Matt sitting on the couch watching tv." Hey Thought you were working the late shift tonight." She said as she walked further into the livingroom. Elena remembered that Matt was supposed to work at the station until late tonight. So she really wasn't expecting to see him yet.
Matt shut off the TV as he got up from the couch and walked over to Elena. "I got someone else to work the night shift instead. Besides, I thought maybe you and I could talk. I can order pizza with your favorite toppings." He said with a huge boyish grin.
Elena exhales softly as she chuckled softly. " Well since you did offer to order pizza with my favorite toppings. Yeah, I guess we can talk. Just let me go and put Bella down." Elena said with a small smile as she walked past Matt heading upstairs towards Bella's room.
Matt couldn't help but smile as he watched Elena walking upstairs with Bella. God I love that woman. Matt thought to himself as he pulled out his cell phone out and ordered the pizza before she headed back downstairs.
Thirty minutes later, Elena and Matt were eating pizza over a glass of red wine. After a few bites and after Elena took a sip of her wine, she set her glass down as she cleared her throat. "So um what did you want to talk about?"
Matt also set his glass down as he exhaled deeply. "Well, I was wondering if you had thought more about my proposal, and I know that you said you needed some time to think about it. But Elena, it's been over a week now, and I need to know. What's your answer?"
Elena was kinda hoping that wasn't what Matt wanted to talk about. But since he had already brought it up. Looks like she's doesn't have a choice but give him her answer." Matt I love you and you know that. I mean you have been amazing and Bella adores you. But I don't know if I'm ready to get married. I mean I never really thought of myself as the marrying type." Elena hates hurting Matt because that's the very last thing she wants to do. But she can't keep lying to him.
Matt reached for both of Elena's hands as he looks deeply into her eyes. I love you Elena Gilbert and one day when you're ready. I will be marrying, and the three of us will be a family. The family that Bella deserves." He said with a grin as he pressed his lips against her hands. He knows that Elena isn't ready for marriage, that's why he hasn't been pressuring her for an answer yet. But doesn't mean he won't give up on them.
Hearing his words and feelings his lips against the back of her hands Elena exhales softly with a chuckle. Elena would love to give Bella the family that she deserves. Elena just not to sure if Matt is the one she really wants to marry. She's not even sure if Matt is even the one anymore.
Driving past the Mystic Falls welcome sign, Damon smirks slightly to himself as he knew that he was finally home. Of course, Damon never thought of moving back to Mystic Falls, especially after being gone for so long. But after living in New Orleans for five years, Damon suddenly realized that New Orleans wasn't home anymore. At least not without Elena Gilbert. Damon knows it's been five years since he left her, which was a dick move, especially to this day, he still regrets leaving her the way he did.
For the past five years all Damon could think about was Elena. He couldn't stop thinking about the way she looked or how her curves looked when she wore those certain jeans he loved so much. He couldn't even stop thinking about the way she would smile and the way she would get excited every time he would do something special for her. Damon has been with other women and he's tried being in other relationships and they all were great, but they weren't Elena. His Elena.
Damon knows that it's a long shot and that Elena may never want to take him back and in a way Damon doesn't really blame her. Hell he wouldn't even take him back if he was her. But Damon loves Elena Gilbert and he wants her back. He'll do anything to get her back.
Pulling up right in front of his brother's house and once he parked his car. Damon exhales deeply as he shut off the engine and pulled out the keys out of the ignition. Driving through Mystic Falls Damon's first thought was to show up at Elena's tonight. But he didn't want to take the risk of having Elena slamming the door in his face before he has a chance to say anything. So he has no other choice but showing up at Stefan's instead.
Damon and Stefan haven't spoken to each other since Damon left Mystic Falls. When Damon was getting ready to move to New Orleans to open his bar, which is another reason why he's moving back home, Damon is planning on opening his bar, Salvatore Bar in Mystic Falls. But that's beside the point. The night Damon was packing, he and Stefan had a huge fight about it. Mainly over Elena.
" What are you doing?" Stefan asked with his arms folded across his chest as he watched Damon packing his bags. It's obvious to see what Damon is doing. But Stefan couldn't understand why Damon all of sudden wants to pack.
Damon exhales heavily as he kept packing." What the hell does it look like Stefan? I'm leaving Mystic Falls tonight and moving to New Orleans." Damon answered as he closed his suitcase and zipped it up before he started packing up the next suit case.
" What about Elena? Does she even know that you're leaving tonight?" Stefan asked as he brought his eyebrows together.
" I left her a note." Damon said softly.
" You what? Why in the hell would you do that for? " Stefan asked angrily as he can't believe Damon would do something like that.
Damon quickly turned around and faced Stefan." Because Stefan I was trying to avoid this. The last thing I wanted is to have an argument with Elena. But instead I'm having an argument with you." Damon didn't even want to have this argument with Stefan but too late for that.
Damon exhales deeply as he sat down on the edge of his bed." I know leaving Elena that note was a dick move and I never meant to hurt her. But Stefan I can't live in Mystic Falls anymore. I need to get out of this town and see what else is out there."
Stefan scoffs shaking his head ." You're right Damon, what you did leaving Elena that note was a dick move. What you're doing right now is a dick move. If you're leaving Mystic Falls, don't bother coming back home. Have a good life in New Orleans brother." Stefan said in disappointment before he turned his back on Damon and walked away without saying another word.
Coming back to reality Damon exhales heavily as he stepped out his car. After closing his car door and making sure it was locked. Damon headed up towards Stefan's front door. Standing few feet away from the door Damon took another deep breath and reached over and rang the door bell.
Stefan and Caroline was curled up together watching a late movie when they heard the door bell. Caroline looked up at Stefan as she raised her brows for a moment. " Who the hell is ringing our door bell at this time at night?" She asked with annoyance.
Stefan sighed deeply. "I don't know, but I'm going to go check." He said as he got up from the couch and walked towards the door to answer it. The moment Stefan pulled the door open and noticed Damon standing outside his door, he exhaled heavily. "Damon," he said.
" Hello brother." Damon said as he smirks slightly. " Are you going to let me in or what?"
