Chapter 11: Where is He!?
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!
A/N: This chapter will have a very graphic violent scene! Just a heads up.
Inuyasha knelt down and gathered Kagome, who had fallen to her knees, up in his arms as she clung to him as if he was the only thing keeping her alive at the moment.
Sango and Miroku walked into the room to see if they could find any clues as to who took Hiro. Sango quickly found a note that was left on the bed, she picked it up but didn't unfold it to read it.
"Um, Kagome, I found something." Sango called out softly as she held out the note for Kagome to take.
Kagome wiped her eyes clear of the tears that were flowing down her face and took the note from Sango while still in Inuyasha's arms. She gasped as she read what it said as more tears leaked out her eyes.
"What does it say?" Inuyasha asked as he tightened his hold on Kagome.
"I-it s-says divorce h-him." Kagome sobbed as she buried her head in Inuyasha's chest and cried her heart out.
"What?" Miroku asked as Inuyasha started growling and he took the letter from Kagome while standing up with her still in his arms, he sat her on the bed as he looked the letter over.
"Do you recognize the handwriting?" Miroku asked as Sango walked over to where Kagome sat and rubbed her back as she comforted her.
"No, it's been typed." Inuyasha replied with a growl as he crumbled the paper up and tossed it in the trash can. "Come on, we'll ask Dr. Wang if we can review the cameras." He said as he grabbed Kagome's hand and led her out the room with the other two following behind them.
They found Dr. Wang still in the dining hall talking with Dr. Hojo.
"Dr. Wang, I need you to do something for me." Inuyasha requested as he came to stand in front of the head doctor.
"What can I do for you, Phantom?" Dr. Wang asked.
"My son was taken by someone; we need to watch the cameras to see who did it." Kagome answered with a sniffle.
"Hiro's been taken?" Dr. Hojo asked shocked. "Are you sure?"
"Yes." Miroku answered. "The nurses that stayed behind were knocked unconscious and Hiro is missing."
"Follow me." Dr. Wang instructed with a nod and led them all to the security room.
When Dr. Wang opened the door; they saw the security guard slumped over the control panels unconscious.
Dr. Hojo moved to lay the guard on the ground so he could check his vitals. Deeming him okay - just knocked out, Hojo moved to watch the screen as Dr. Wang typed in the codes that were needed to view the recordings and to get to the right hall they needed.
As they watched the screen, they saw a tube being thrown in the hallway as a smokey substance seeped out of it causing the few nurses that were there to pass out. Once all the nurses were knocked unconscious, a few people with gas masks on came running into the hall and into the room that housed Hiro, a few minutes later they ran out with one of them holding an unconscious Hiro in their arms.
Kagome broke down and was about to crumble to the floor, however, before she could fall Inuyasha grabbed ahold of her to keep her on her feet as he maintained eye contact with her. This wasn't good, Hiro - who's fighting cancer - has been taken, not only that, but they had just found out that she was pregnant - all this stress was not good for her or the baby.
"Kagome," Inuyasha said in a stern tone to get his point across to her, "I know you're upset right now, but Hiro needs you to keep as calm as possible so we can find him before it's too late."
Somehow Inuyasha's words got through to Kagome, she took a deep breath before nodding.
"Okay, good, now do you notice anything from any of the people that did this," Inuyasha asked as he motioned Dr. Wang to replay the video, "because I don't." He was thinking that it was someone trying to get to him by getting to Kagome, however, he couldn't really tell any features that he recognized from any of them.
As the video played of the men running into Hiro's room, Kagome gasped. "Hold on, rewind it then press pause."
Dr. Wang nodded as he did as he was told.
"Look!" Kagome shouted as she pointed to one of the men. "That's Kio!"
"Are you sure?" Sango asked as she tried to get a closer look at the man.
"Yes," Kagome nodded as she looked at Sango. "I'd know his hair anywhere."
Inuyasha took his phone out of his pocket, dialed a number before placing the phone on his ear. "Shippo, find Kio and take him to the warehouse." He said before hanging up.
"What do we do now?" Kagome asked looking at Inuyasha with big tear-filled eyes.
"We go home while we wait for Shippo's word." Inuyasha answered.
"Go home?" Kagome sobbed as tears escaped down her cheeks. "But, but what about Hiro? Shouldn't we look for him?"
Inuyasha walked up to Kagome before placing his hands on her upper arms as he looked her in the eyes. "Please, trust me when I say that I will burn this whole city to the ground if we either can't find Kio, or we don't get the answers that we need. I will do anything to get Hiro back here where he belongs, however, for now we need to lie low and wait for Shippo's word before we take action." He reassured as he rubbed Kagome's arms. "Believe me when I say, Kagome, you will have your revenge."
Kagome didn't say anything, just nodded as Inuyasha led her out of the security room before leaving the hospital and went home to wait for Shippo to call him.
Once they got home, Kagome went straight the bedroom before curling up in a small ball in the middle of the bed as she cried and silently prayed to herself.
Inuyasha entered the room before climbing into the bed and scooping Kagome up in his arms. "I'm so sorry Kagome, I never meant for any of this to happen to you." He said as he started to run his fingers through her hair. "Maybe we should get the divorce."
"What?" Kagome asked as she got out of bed and stared at him as if he had just burnt her. "No!"
"Face it, Kagome!" Inuyasha argued as he too got out of bed. "The day you married me was the day that you signed up for a whole lot of fucking bullshit to happen! Even if we do get Kio to tell us where Hiro is, there's no guaranteed that he won't be kidnapped again by someone else trying to get to me through with you or him or even the new baby! Not only that, but your life is also in constant danger if you stay with me, can't you see that! What I do is no joke!" He yelled trying to get his point across. "Before you met me, you had a normal life, you were safe! That all went to shit the day you married me! I want you and Hiro to be safe and the only way that will happen is if you're no longer married to me."
"Safe!?" Kagome screamed with tears in her eyes as she looked at Inuyasha. "You think I was safe!? Without you I'd be on the fucking street! Without you I'd still be eating crackers and fucking Ramen! I would've starved if it weren't for you! I had to take self-defense classes because every time I left my fucking apartment, I had some fucking weirdo trying to either sell me some fake merchandise or drugs, trying to steal from me or trying to hurt me in some fucking way. So, think again if you think for even a second that I was safer without you! Without you Hiro wouldn't be here anymore, he'd be dead, and I'd be all alone!" She continued screaming before stopping to take a couple deep breaths before continuing. "So, no, I won't divorce you and you don't get to say that'll make Hiro and me safe because without you we'd both be dead!"
"But-"
"Inuyasha," Kagome snapped interrupting Inuyasha with a sigh as she got back into bed, "you didn't do this, Kio did!"
"Yeah, but it's my fault." Inuyasha said as he too got back into bed before taking Kagome back in his arms and started running his fingers through her hair again. "He's pissed at me because I fired him, now he's after you."
"He's sick in the mind, Inuyasha, he doesn't want me happy. Looking back on it now, he never wanted me happy, I had no friends, he forced the pregnancy on me, he took me away from my family, he did so many things that I just turned a blind eye to thinking that it was normal!" Kagome yelled with tears in her eyes. "So, whether I'm with you or with someone else, or even by myself, he will always make my life a living hell. That's why I refuse to leave you because I know that you will do everything in your power to protect both Hiro, our baby and me and I know that I would never be as happy as I am right now with anyone else!"
"He forced the pregnancy on you?" Inuyasha growled.
Kagome nodded. "Yeah, he kept coming in me, I told him to stop that I wasn't ready for a baby and not only that, but my parents would also kick me out the house if I do get pregnant." She said with a sigh. "He told me that he'd take care of me, he would buy us a house - he had a good job, though he would never tell me where he was working, I guess that I should have known it was doing something illegal. I was just so blinded from everything he did because I loved him, and I thought he loved me. He told me that he wanted to get married to me and start a family with me right away. He said all the right things that I wanted to hear, so I relented because I was happy and having a baby together was really starting to make sense. When we did have Hiro, he followed his word and got us an apartment, it might've not been the house he promised me but at the time it was good enough for me. Everything was great for the beginning of my pregnancy, however, the further I got along the more he put distance between us and when I gave birth everything changed - he started staying away for longer periods of time, though, when he was around, he acted like he was so happy buy I could tell that his mind was somewhere else. When Hiro got sick, I feel like it was a way for him to finally get away from 'the family life' and just do whatever it was that he was doing."
Inuyasha was highly pissed off at the asshole that forced Kagome to have a baby with him then, when she needed him the most, he abandoned them! He took a deep breath before slowly releasing it. "Let's not think about that right now, let's just try to get some rest before Shippo calls." He suggested as he started making a comforting growling sound in the back of his throat as he continued to run his fingers through her hair. He soon was able to lull her to sleep, however, he didn't cease his comforting growling or running his fingers through her hair.
The next morning, Inuyasha woke up by the ringing of his phone - he didn't remember falling asleep, he noticed that Kagome was also awake. He started running his fingers through her hair once again as he reached over with his free hand to grab his phone off the nightstand, seeing that it was Shippo, he pressed the green answered button.
"What do you have for me, Shippo?" Inuyasha asked as he sat up, Kagome sat up as well when she heard who was calling - she put her hand on his shoulder as she tried to get close as possible so she could try to hear what was being said.
Inuyasha, realizing that Kagome wanted to hear, put the phone on speaker as Shippo answered.
"I have Kio in my sight." Shippo whispered into the phone.
"Does he have a little boy with him?" Kagome asked.
"No, he's by himself." Shippo answered.
"Can you get him?" Inuyasha asked.
"Working on that now." Shippo responded.
"Okay, call me back when you have him at the warehouse." Inuyasha said.
"Will do, boss." Shippo replied as he terminated the call.
Inuyasha sighed as he placed his phone back on the nightstand as he stood up before holding his hand out for Kagome. Once she grabbed his hand, he led her to the bathroom and started up the shower before he undressed her - not in a sextual way but in a way that showed he wanted to care for her. When the water reached the right temperature, Inuyasha help Kagome in the shower before getting undressed himself and getting in the shower as well. He slowly washed her hair and body before taking her in his arms and holding on her as tight as her body would allow him too. "I'm so sorry Kagome." He mumbled in the crook of her neck.
"Please, stop apologizing Inuyasha, I'm telling you - this isn't your fault, it's Kio's way of trying to control me still." Kagome said as she returned his embrace. "And no more talk about divorce!" She ordered as she stepped back so she could place her hands on both of his cheeks forcing him to look her in the eye, at his nod of understanding she nodded as well as she let go of his face and grabbed his soap so she could wash his hair and body just like he did for her.
"How are you feeling?" He asked as she massaged shampoo into his hair, he was worried that all this added stress was having a bad effect on her and the baby.
"Mentally and emotionally, I am not okay," she admitted as she gently pushed him under the shower spray to rinse his hair out, "but physically - I'm doing alright. I'm just tired."
Inuyasha nodded as he ran his claws through his hair to rinse all the shampoo out, he couldn't help but think that he was the luckiest man in the world. He didn't know what he did to deserve her, but he will take down anyone that dares to wrong her - somebody will die, whether it be by her hand or his, and that somebody was Kio. He let her put conditioner in his hair and wash his body before he washed her hair and body for her.
Once their shower was done and they were dressed, Inuyasha then led Kagome to the kitchen and cooked her breakfast.
"I didn't know you cooked." Kagome said as she watched Inuyasha gather the ingredients for egg omelets.
Inuyasha shrugged as Sango and Miroku walked in the kitchen and sat in the chairs by Kagome. "I don't have enough time to cook as often as I would like, though I do like cooking and been told that I'm quite good at it."
"He really has a knack for it." Sango said nodding in agreement to Inuyasha's words.
"Oooh, I'm excited now." Kagome squealed as she bounced in her chair, wishing that his cooking was already done.
"What's on the menu?" Miroku asked as his tummy growled.
"Omelets." Inuyasha answered as he began to cook.
As Inuyasha cooked, Kagome's mind started to race, making up scenarios of what was happening with Hiro right now. Some of them were good and was having a good time with his dad, even more thoughts, however, were bad with horrible results. She stared out of the window that was next to her as she chewed on her thumb nail, she didn't notice that her leg had started to bounce as well in her worry.
"Kagome?" Sango called as she gently shook Kagome shoulder making her nearly jump out of her seat as she turned to face Sango with wide eyes. "Are you okay?" Sango asked with deep concern in both her eyes and her voice.
Kagome looked around as she saw the men staring at her with concern looks as well, she then noticed that there was a plate with an omelet on it in front of her.
"I called your name three times before Sango touch your arm." Inuyasha added in worry.
"Oh, uh, you did?" Kagome asked as she looked up at Inuyasha, he nodded in confirmation. "Oh, sorry." She apologized as she looked down at her plate before picking up her fork to poke around at her food. "I can't help but to think of Hiro, what if we don't find him in time?"
Inuyasha reached across the kitchen island that she was sitting at and grabbed her hand. "I will do everything in my power to find Hiro, even if I have to tear every building in this city apart."
Kagome smiled a small smile and nodded as she finally started eating her omelet.
As they ate, Inuyasha got a phone call. He fished it out of his pocket and saw that it was Shippo calling again, he pressed the green answering button before putting it on speaker and placing the phone in the middle of the kitchen island so everyone could hear the conversation.
"What do you have for me, Shippo?" Inuyasha asked as everyone around the kitchen island leaned in close to hear everything that Shippo had to say.
"I have Kio at the warehouse, boss." Shippo answered proudly.
"Fantastic job, Shippo!" Inuyasha congratulated. "We'll be there shortly."
They all left their half-eaten breakfast plates behind on the kitchen island as they all ran outside to hop in Inuyasha's car before going on their way to the warehouse in hopes that they would get the answers that they so desperately needed.
They arrived at the warehouse a short time later, and as they walked in Inuyasha pointed out his wall of weapons to Kagome silently telling her to go pick one out. He wanted her to be the one to do this since it affected her more than anyone else here. He wanted her to take the lead on this, which Kagome was more than happy to do just that.
Kagome walked over to the wall to decide what she wanted to use as Inuyasha and the others walked to stand in front of Kio with their arms crossed, not saying a word and just staring at him trying to intimidate him.
"I ain't telling you shit!" Kio yelled as he struggled against his fox magic infused bonds. "No matter what you do to me!" He yelled looking at Inuyasha.
"Oh, we ain't gonna do shit to ya." Inuyasha said with a smirk. "She is."
Kagome had settled on a metal bat. She had her hand on the handle as she let the end cap drag along the ground as she walked to stand in front of Kio.
"You have but one chance to tell me where Hiro is, or I'll make it to where you never walk again." Kagome hissed with all the venom in her voice that made delicious chills go up and down Inuyasha's back.
"Kags." Kio purred in his smooth voice trying to get her to be wrapped around his finger like she used to be. "I didn't do anything wrong; I don't know where Hiro is."
"Bullshit!" Kagome yelled as she swung the bat and connected it with his kneecap completely shattering it as Kio's piercing scream echoed around them. "Where is he!?" She screamed.
Kio was breathing hard trying to breathe through the pain. "Couldn't tell you."
Kagome swung once again as the bat connected with his other kneecap, shattering that one as well, his scream bounced off the walls once again.
"Tell me!" Kagome ordered.
Breathing even harder, Kio started laughing as he looked Kagome in the eyes. "I wouldn't know where he is."
"Liar!" Kagome accused as she struck Kio in the gut with the end cap of the bat making him cough up blood. "Where is he?" She asked in a deadly whisper as she got in his face.
Kio spat his blood in Kagome's face making her spin around in shock, however, her shock didn't last long as red-hot flames of anger licked through her veins. She turned back to face him once again as swung the bat shattering his ribs.
"Shit!" Kio yelled out, finding it very difficult to breathe now. "I don't fucking know where he is!"
Kagome didn't say anything as she brought the bat down over her head as she nearly ripped Kio's shoulder off.
"Fuck!" Kio screamed. "I really don't! Damn it! When I fucking took him, my boss took him from me and hid him somewhere that I don't fucking know!" He said through him trying to breathe, he was starting to feel dizzy like he was about to pass out.
"Who did you give him too!?" Kagome demanded to know.
"Naraku!" Kio screamed out, not able to deal with any more pain. "He has a daughter that I guess was supposed to marry Phantom but didn't want to, now, seeing what you have with him - she wants it. They are having money troubles because all her mom's clients left her for someone else! They have no money! Their daughter wants to marry him now and wants you out of the picture!" Kio went into a coughing fit. "They thought that if we took Hiro, it'll make you divorce him."
Kagome gasped, Naraku was her stepfather, and yes, she could see him doing something like this - however, she was shocked that her mother was going along with this. She was about to hit Kio with the bat again, out of frustration, when an explosion happened sending them all flying forward and knocking them all unconscious.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Until next time, bye!
