So, here's the fix, albeit definitely late. Unfortunately, nothing ever goes as it should and white dragon sky failed to finish it in time due to several setbacks. The first thing you'll notice will be the lack of the gamer system, and well, yes I decided to remove it. To begin with, it would have disappeared once the 7 class card saga was over. I was advised to remove it first since it only served to give me numbers to work with, and speed up its speed will grow, but it would not have a real impact on its general power beyond a certain threshold, since it would have thwarted the whole armor thing otherwise. For the rest, I'm reviewing chapter 6, as it's the one that abused the system the most. I hope to be able to load the next chapter soon.
So, you'll wonder why you're here huh? Well, I died (how surprising) and was reborn in another, rather twisted world I might add. So, you're probably wondering where I've gone and what I've been doing for the past 17 years or so, right? Maybe not, but I don't care and I'll tell you anyway if you haven't already closed and moved on to something else. I wasn't twiddling my thumbs, I struggled to get better, but it's hard when you're a Quirkless.
Sounds familiar? Yep, I've been thrown into My Hero Academia of all places, without a fucking Quirk. Honestly, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, because apparently someone with a quirk can't use magic circuits to make any magic, since origin and element are intrinsically linked to it. I have no idea how an autoimmune disease passed from a bat more than 200 years ago crosses the species gap, infects humans, and sets off a reaction so strong that it even interacts with the host's soul. In fact, it's one of the most studied mysteries by some wizarding associations, and not without reason. The plus alpha element present in the human body has practically made the path a magus would choose to manifest as a purely physical thing. Of course, that's not to say that quirk users can't use thaumaturgy or magic of any kind, they just can't do it while they're human, and in most cases it will be incredibly difficult for them even if they become devils or other races.
Oh did I say devils right? Yes it looks the supernatural exists in this world aside from magic. I have also 50 circuits that can deliver 25 units of prana each. If I really push myself, I can deliver 1250-1300 units of prana per second, but no more without the risk of frying my circuits. Nothing spectacular compared to some monsters out there, because in this world the age of the gods never died. If we're being very specific, I ended up in a three-way crossover between: My hero academia, Highscool DxD and maybe something to do with the nasuverse? Honestly, I'm not sure because I was born in 2222, a far cry from anything that has happened in any series released thus far.
As for me, there's not much to say. When I was 4 my parents came to visit some friends in Japan for their wedding, but we got caught in the crossfire during a raid gone wrong that nearly split Japan in half, in the most literal sense of the word. There is basically a canyon that stretches more than 300 kilometers from Shizuoka across the country to the opposite side. There had been only 4 survivors in the bus that the celebrated had packed to get to the restaurant where the refreshments were to be held, after the ceremony was over, although two of them (three if we count Jack, who I'm filling in) died shortly after. After. The last of those people, the bride and groom's mother, Kurogane Shizuku, took my guardianship because she knew my parents.
I learned about the supernatural from her. Apparently she was a shrine maiden in her youth, tending to yokai, retired old exorcists, and the like at the small Musutafu temple. Basically an unofficial supernatural retirement home. Since I was living with her in the temple the first few years of my rebirth, it was inevitable that I would eventually find out. I nagged her to exhaustion to teach me something, but she finally relented. In those years I didn't know what to do with my life; therefore, any thing was as good as any other. The fact is that in the end I have no talent in almost anything.
I learned basic thaumaturgies: reinforcement, structural analysis and a weird but much more powerful version of gradation air, which I very originally called tracing since I follow almost the same steps. The one big difference, is that I could only project objects that are made of some metal to perfection. Over time I've also learned how to alter things with magic so well that it's basically become its own spell, rather than a step to create projections. With some pointers and a lot of practice I've learned how to use the touki, but I'm not very good at senjutsu, unfortunately. A pity, because such an asset would have been invaluable in a world where there are virtually no defenses against it. The most I can do is boost my physical performance to slightly superhuman, becoming just a little bit stronger than a super soldier like Steve Roger or Bucky, but I really can't compete with quirks that specialize in strength, speed and the like.
Not that it was all for nothing. Eventually, I actually found another use for the touki where it has become indispensable.
However, there have been some problems along the way. First of all, I was reborn into a kid with no quirks, I was in Japan of all places, where everyone has super powers except me evidently. And I'm pretty sure the bastard who sent me here did it on purpose! Society didn't really make it any easier to fit in, especially considering how shitty it treated non-Quirks. People are indoctrinated to teamwork and to integrate with the system since childhood, but I who was considered 'different', even if it was due to genetics and above all, was a foreigner who arrived from Italy. A 'gaijin' as many still like to label me today. I suffered on a daily basis, ever since the diagnosis that identified me as Quirk-free shortly after the accident, continuous discrimination at school, ridicule from the neighbors (until we moved into the new villa) or verbal bullying almost everywhere I went. I've had a lot of disciplinary notices and suspensions over the years because 'promising pupils' wanted to show me my place, but it went very badly for them. I never went too far, as I was mainly dealing with children (the first year after I was reborn at least), but still the teachers ignored the assaults or problems I had to face on a daily basis because they didn't want to ruin the possible' career of future heroes' so they simply used me as a scapegoat. Not that I really gave a damn. I tended to ignore them, as they weren't worth my time and I didn't see a reason to give them any more attention than they should if I didn't have to defend myself, but still we often ended up in blows, much to my annoyance, when I had no choice but to fight back.
Shizuku never blamed me for the problems in school, in fact, she always incited me not to let anyone walk all over me like that, even though she sternly warned me not to become proud of my abilities and intellect' superior' even by the standards of today's quirk-enhanced scientists. After the…fourth expulsion, instead of enrolling in another elementary school, I joined directly in a university in Tokyo. Due to my grades and my age maturity I reached an honors degree in engineering with a masters degree in computer engineering. Pretty cool right? I even took extra courses to use the support tools in civilian settings. Lastly I dedicated myself to the second degree in bioengineering.
Second big problem: I am shit at acting. I've never been in a real play in my life, I usually did background characters at best as I just couldn't fit in properly as a kid, and it only got worse as I got older. I've never exercised because I've never been interested on the career, especially after the one time I've ever taken part in a Christmas play at the theatre, in front of an audience, to give the proceeds to charity, I had panicked a little bit and I had messed up. Returning to the main topic, when Naomasa Tsukauchi came to question me about the incident, I was very perplexed. He thought I hit my head (which I actually did. Jack, the child who died, suffered a massive head injury) or something like that; therefore, he informed me that my 'accident' was due to collateral damage caused by the clash between villan and heroes. Again, not having been conscious during the crash I didn't know what the hell he was talking about, so he concluded on his own that the shock from the crash was preventing me from remembering or erased the event. Fortunately, I never saw him again after that encounter.
After going back to school I couldn't settle in though. I wasn't fluent in Japanese yet, but I understood it quite well having studied it myself in my previous life between anime and vr chat, but thanks to my particularly sharp eidetic memory I was able to learn the alphabets and speak better than 80% of Japanese in a couple of weeks.
Once I realized what my brain was capable of, I started brushing up for college entry and skipped elementary, middle, and high school. Having attended two courses, which on average last 4 years each, but which I had shortened to just under seven in total, I was able to start working well in advance. Although the advent of quirks had greatly reduced the development of technology because of the third world war, and the dark century immediately after, computer science and robotics were much more advanced than they were in my previous world.
Being a lover (some would say obsessed) of the Gundam series, and of mecha in general actually, I set myself the goal of building my own one. Sure, designing an 60-foot-tall robot with everything it needs to function isn't feasible. Incredibly difficult, but doable. The only thing that stopped me from trying is that I don't have the facility to create something of that magnitude, let alone the money I would need to maintain said facility that was to house and develop mobile suits. So, taking a piece from dear Iron Man, I settled on a series of armors.
Having graduated early, thanks to today's laws, I went straight to work. Initially it was difficult, because being a child without quirks, hardly anyone even gave me the opportunity to test myself, but not everyone was prejudiced. Unbelievable but true, my first clients were Ryukyu and Mirko. The former because every time she transformed with her quirk into a dragon she had difficulty finding a suitable costume or outfits when acting in plainclothes or while working without having mobility problems, and since I had started creating things for her back when she was in school she never changed costume designer; while the silly rabbit had the opposite problem. Everyone wanted her because she climbed the ranks at record speed, but no one besides me and a few others had the skills or was crazy enough to actually take her on as a client, since she was completely incapable of taking care of her equipment, which she destroyed at least once a week.
Other customer examples are Yoroi Musha, who being a traditional old man uses samurai armor and katanas, and I was just too good at making top-notch stuff, even if not too high-tech or old-fashioned. He had found me through word of mouth after the skyegg incident a few years ago, through Iida Tensei. Iidaten has been buying equipment from me since the eldest son in the family attended UA. I also usually supply all the Ingenium helpers as well as the pro hero in charge of the agency. They usually contact me for minor updates and maintenance though. The armor that Tensei uses is pretty much the same as the one I built for him 7 years ago, not counting the occasional minor upgrades and modifications, and I think that's pretty telling as a factor in my abilities as an engineer.
Ironically enough, almost all of the top 10 heroes are my clients, with the exception of Endeavor and Hawks. Which was quite redundant, considering that if you ask the average professional if they would buy from me, they would take it as a joke in very bad taste. Despite this, I'm not well known to the masses. They care more about the hero than who worked on the costume, unless you're an icon like David Shield who won a nobel prize and was one of only two sidekicks All Might ever had. For me it was worth double since I didn't have a quirk, and, indeed, it had become a necessity to use a pseudonym to prevent my... status from damaging my business so to speak. Besides the 8 heroes in the top 10, there were only 50 heroes in all of Japan who had a contract with me. Few, but they pay in gold for my costumes and support items, and not without a reason.
I let out a heavy sigh as I walk out of Might Tower. Three years ago All Might was left debilitated in his fight with All For One and Nighteye had left the agency. I had met him by chance at a convention where the Toshinori peace sign was supposed to be present, while accompanying the niece of a friend from Shizuku with her friends and by mistake I had let slip his hero name, although fortunately only the hero number 1 had noticed, due to his superhuman senses.
That blonde idiot, even in his skeletal form didn't lose its touch, and I got caught pretty much right away.
However, to save my cover I had improvised and outlined that my clear contact lenses was fitted with night vision, x-ray and optical zoom, as well as being able to adjust the light reaching my retinas to avoid being blinded by flashbangs and the like. They also had an interface connected to my AI, Jarvis. Yes, it stood for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System. You can make an almost endless list of faults and merits of Tony Stark, but his movie version was incredibly funny and brilliant. It was a tribute to him, because I am a very creative and original person.
Nanotechnology is really cool, isn't it?
Returning to the main point, I had lied telling the truth about why I knew about his injury, claiming that I had seen him before (and it was true, in more ways than one) and that I found the conditions strange; therefore, I had asked my AI to analyze it and the DNA matched 100%.
Needless to say, Toshinori was very skeptical, and almost panicked when I started describing his quirk. I hadn't called it by name, but I had described how it worked and the risks of using it. In its basic stage, when it still cannot access the other stored quirks, it transforms the accumulated kinetic energy and manifests it in the form of physical enhancement, in an ideal form that allows it to make the most of it. The main problem? Since he lacks organs, his body can no longer use the quirk safely. Without the stomach he couldn't eat properly, which over time made him lose fat and muscle, making him more and more skinny; therefore, One for all to compensate drastically increased the size of the remaining muscle fibers, which in turn caused enormous stress on the other organs. The remaining lung had to work twice as hard to make up for the lack of the other, while the heart had to pump to exhaustion to supply the oxygen needed to maintain his muscle form.
There was a lot of stuff to say later on the subject, which could boil down to: I've been hired as head of the Might Tower's development division. I was literally the only one who knew how one for all worked more or less, and with the mammoth budget of All might, I had managed to create a series of suits that could support him without destroying himself in the process, allowing him to regain some of his lost strength and lengthen the time that could remain transformed without too many consequences. It was only a temporary measure, as once it passes the residue ofa will inevitably deplete and at some point it will have no more energy to feed on, but that's okay. All Might is still a couple of years away from passing the torch, and he would have been in much better shape than his canonical counterpart, as I was also looking after his health in addition to the costumes. Although he would definitely retire after his next confrontation with All for One, perhaps he would still be fit enough for the war against Shigaraki Tomura's Paranormal Army or Re-Destro, if I can get rid of Tomura's nephew before it gets to that stage.
At one point he even offered me to be his successor after he found out I was aiming for the UA heroes course, but I declined as I had another quest to choose my 'path'. But, even without that quest I would still have declined the offer. I didn't mind a helping hand to reach my goal, after all I couldn't be everywhere and do everything by myself, but everything I could do by myself I wanted to do with my own strength, otherwise I knew I wouldn't feel satisfied in the end.
Not to mention my goal was not to be a hero because I have a calling to be one, but to be influential enough to change society into a more functional one. Maybe it was because of my origin, but every time I heard or saw something that didn't work, I felt the irrepressible urge to build something to replace the broken parts. It doesn't matter if it was a car, a prosthesis, a costume, an armor or the whole society. I was just extremely annoyed by anything that didn't work, especially if it was intentionally kept that way. That absurd urge had subsided and I had learned to deal with it, but in the beginning I had to get checked regularly, because sometimes I didn't even function like a normal human being when I started creating something. Half the reason Shizuku helped me with the thaumaturgy was because after accidentally unlocking my circuits, nearly frying them from the stress, I was completely unable to control my new impulses and continually lost track of time, couldn't concentrate on anything when i was building something, and i was constantly needing someone to watch me to make sure that well i was acting more like a human and less like a machine. Fortunately, when I started using magic, and especially with a lot of work and will, the impulse diminished to something acceptable.
My thoughts are interrupted when I suddenly feel… something …forcefully twisting the space above the city. My sensory abilities leave a lot to be desired to be honest and I'm not very in tune with nature, so using senjutsu to find the cause was practically impossible for me. The fact that she heard it so clearly was in itself very alarming, it meant that any other supernatural beings in nearby cities at the very least heard it as well.
"Jarvis, check out the entire area in and around Tokyo. Tell me if there's any anomaly" I order to my virtual butler.
"What exactly should I look for?" asks the AI, rightly so.
"I don't know? Distortions in the Tokyo space, abnormal phenomena caused or happened to people or things in the last few minutes would be a good place to start."
I ask the Holy Grail
I pray Miyu ends up in a world where she can be happy
I pray you meet some kind people
I wish she's surrounded by friends to laugh with
I pray you find a warm, little piece of happiness
Emiya Miyu snaps her eyes open, and immediately regrets it when she feels her head throbbing and her body weak, drained of the magical energy that the ceremonial altar had absorbed during the war to use it as a Greater Grail. More slowly she opens her eyes again, trying to get used to the lights around her. The cold air stinged her face and legs.
"You finally woke up, I was starting to worry"
She looks down and sees a boy, who judging by her stance seemed to be a little older than her (at least, she would if she didn't look like an eleven year old). He has black hair, blue eyes with green tinges, and was decidedly not Asian, although he spoke perfectly well in Japanese. He also noticed her outfit. Her legs were cold from still wearing the revealing low-cut dress the Ainsworths had prepared for the ritual, but she had a windbreaker over it, with gloves, neck warmers, and a hat to keep her warm.
"Who are you?" she asks, trying not to panic.
"The person who found you. Were you attacked by someone who had a teleportation quirk?" he asks seriously, confusing her. What was a 'quirk'? Why was he talking about teleportation as if it were normal? How did he know she was being attacked? She didn't know much about the far side of the moon, but even she could tell the stranger was talking about it too casually in public. Or was it normal in this place? She recalls her brief visit to Fuyuki, this city however was too teeming with life and the atmosphere seemed noticeably different, less rarefied in fact. Was it even in the same world in the first place?
"Don't be surprised. My boss is a pro hero, I do investigations for him sometimes and study quirks. I found you unconscious in an alley, and in those clothes you would surely have died of hypothermia if no one had rescued you" Pro hero? Does her rescuer look younger than he actually is? Is he a detective? "Where are your parents?"
The question doesn't even make her flinch actually. She didn't even find it too uncomfortable. She didn't remember them anyway. She barely remembered Kiritsugu, even though it was he and onii-chan who found her after the disaster in Fuyuki years ago, because even though they lived in the same house they almost never met, as he refused to deal with her more than necessary.
"Died years ago" she replies, thinking about how to untangle herself from the situation. The stranger's expression doesn't change too much, remaining serious despite the blunt answer. Is he used to hear such stories?
"Other relatives or guardians to contact?" he asks, looking for a positive response without success.
That question actually cracked her impassive expression a bit. She wanted to cry again when she realized that her onii-chan remained in the other dimension fighting an enemy he could not beat, and who had probably killed him. Or perhaps taken him as a hostage.
"..."
"I see..." the signs of a frown appear on his face for a few moments, but he quickly recomposes himself "Normally I should take you to the police and leave the investigation to them, but maybe it's best not to stress you too much and let you get some rest before the formalities. You seem to be tried enough by events already"
That was an understatement. She wanted to curl up and cry to the point of exhaustion at the possible end her beloved older brother might have gone to save her, but he had wished for her to be happy. It would not be simple, but she would try, lest his sacrifice be in vain. She highly doubted that he would want her to stay and mope forever after all the effort he had made to free her.
But first she had to figure out how to live in this place, wherever she ended up. Money, food, clothes, and any other necessities were handled entirely by her brother, since she could not leave the bounded field around the house (which they really should have known before), before she was kidnapped by the Ainsworths. In addition, she had to ask for clarification on some terms he had used to adjust herself better.
"Well, I can take you to my house if you want. I live alone and I have plenty of space, we can decide what to do from then on" he proposes and she tries not to look too suspicious of his sudden proposal "You can take a bath to warm up, eat and rest for the night. I don't have clothes of your size, but I can give you some of mine to improvise"
"...why are you so helpful with me?" she asks a little suspicious, and honestly confused.
"For three main reasons: I'd feel like shit leaving you to die in the snow; if she were still alive baa-chan would kill me if i didn't help a girl with no place to stay, also unconscious in an alley; and my boss is literally known as the 'symbol of peace' and one of, if not the most important hero in the world. It's influenced me more than I'd like to admit to being more active in helping others when needed" he replies sincerely, shrugging.
Are grandmas always this worried? Honestly, she doesn't remember what the warmth of a mother figure was like. The only one she knows is what her older brother showed her growing up. Also, from the way he described his boss, he sounds like a very influential man in today's society; so, surely he can answer many of her questions and help her integrate if he is a hero as he says. It almost sounds as if it has become a profession from the way he puts it.
"I see…" no, she really doesn't, but the discussion was exhausting her more than she would like to admit. There were too many things to think about, too many things to ask, too many points to clarify and she was too tired to do it now.
"Rest now, I'll wake you up as soon as we get there" he says, continuing to walk, going down the stairs to take the subway "What's your name anyway?"
"Miyu..." she replies exhausted, resting her chin on his shoulder again.
"I am Kurogane Jack"
I ask the Holy Grail
I pray Miyu ends up in a world where she can be happy
I pray she meets some kind people
I wish she's surrounded by friends to laugh with
I pray she can find her happiness
Her brother's wish seems to have already come true.
Since I didn't know where to start looking for the catastrophe waiting to happen, I decided to reroute satellites over Japan to scan it. There was a bit of a panic when several military channels and satellites were blacked out by an unknown hacker, but hey, I was justified given the situation! I think you can imagine my surprise when instead of, I don't know, an alien, a powerful phantom beast or something like that, I found a pretty magical girl passed out in the snow.
Miyu's reaction to my house was quite funny actually. Her tired eyes were literally shining when Jarvis greeted them both as they entered. She was visibly holding back not to start asking a long string of questions about my AI, not to be inappropriate, especially when she saw drones flying around cleaning the house.
I had taken a heavy cue from Tony Stark and made myself a wired mansion designed to be monitored constantly by my virtual butler. It wasn't on a cliff with a kick-ass private beach, but who cares, I've always been a mountain guy. I had tried to reproduce it as closely as possible, since at some point I needed to move to another part of town for work. There were several things, however, that made me turn my nose up at the confusion.
Miyu is almost exactly as I vaguely remembered her: a young girl with long black hair down to mid-back and golden brown eyes, currently wearing my clothes, which were too big for her. One of my sweaters that was big enough to fit even as a skirt, since I was a foot taller than she was (30 cm).
The princess of the other world is 137 centimeters tall (4'6), only slightly taller than her counterpart, although I have no idea if there are any significant differences. Using structural analysis on her as she was passed out on my back, I found that her biological age is about 13 years old, not 10. That raised several questions actually. I knew that the Sakatsuki clan kept children isolated, with as little human contact as possible to prevent any outside influence from somehow altering them and the powers they have, which usually fade at age 10. The reason the Ainzsworth hunted her down and eventually caught her anyway despite the fact that she had surpassed by the due date for their plans, was because her counterpart had just fulfilled them and with a ritual they could still use her as a greater grail.
Was the girl in front of me more powerful or gifted even by her biological family's standards, to the point where it was still possible for her to be used as a grail even at the age of 13?
I had a flood of questions, but I decided not to ask so as not to press her too hard. Even though she was trying not to give it away, I knew she was heavily burdened both physically and mentally by whatever she had been through, I didn't even need magic to tell. The fact that she's here though, makes me think that either Shirou's desire sent her to a different place in the prismaverse, or the events of that affair will ripple out here, which is quite likely, since the class cards should have come with Miyu. It wasn't that troubling honestly, or at least, not as troubling as it would be if this world didn't have quirks. If the vampire troll doesn't show up I'm pretty sure I can actually access the mirror world. I've looked at some teleportation quirks before and the effects they cause in the environment, and I had created the first model of a quantum field disruptor that could block it a couple of weeks ago, although I hadn't tested it yet. The real question was whether or not I would be able to pull it off before the class card manifestations became powerful enough to break into the real world. At that point things would get tricky, especially if I can't get the work done before saber or berseker appear. Those two, even if weakened, were walking disasters, and even All Might will have a lot of problems if I don't come up with something, especially with Heracles. Especially since I don't know if anyone in the area will be able to take care of them if things go south in the worst possible way.
Yes, the part that worries me the most are the factions in the area. Most of the exorcists and yokai I know have left town at some point in the last week. Orders from above they said, so they all left, or almost all of them. Something was going on, and I honestly have no idea if the timing is worrisome or not, since the discovery of the class cards would certainly cause a stir, and I don't even want to get into the process of sorting out what would happen if it ended up in the wrong hands.
In any case, dinner continued in relative silence, save for some minor interaction as we began to eat and clear the table. Having returned later than planned, I did not have time to fix a proper dinner, so I ordered pizzas. Knowing how to cook was a necessity since I have lived alone for almost half my stay in this world, but my mind was too busy trying to find a workable solution to the predicament that presented itself. Miyu had been soaking in a tub of hot water for almost an entire hour to warm up properly, so I had time to wash and dry the only pair of panties she had (which made me wonder if Darius wasn't a pedophile. Who the fuck makes a 13-year-old girl wear such see-through black lace! It barely covered what it was supposed to cover!). She didn't even have a bra (although she didn't really need one), so the first thing to do tomorrow was to provide her with a new wardrobe.
"This is one of the guest rooms, make yourself at home. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask Jarvis or me" I say, making her nod and enter the rather large room.
She walks over to the glass window, and looks up at the sky, causing me to raise an eyebrow.
"Do you like stars?" I try to break the ice. Honestly, how do you talk to a 13-year-old girl fresh out of a war, about to be sacrificed for a ritual? There was no manual for that.
She looks at me for a few moments before returning her gaze to the night sky.
"Yes. Onii-chan always brought me many books, including on astronomy. I liked looking at the stars."
"Yes, I can understand why people like them, but honestly it's not something that has ever fascinated me too much, even when I used to look at them with baa-chan" I admit, moving closer to her "When you know that they are a bunch of plasma spheroids that through nuclear fusion processes in their cores generate energy, radiated into space in the form of electromagnetic radiation, elementary particle streams and neutrinos they tend to lose some of their appeal. More than the stars themselves, I'm interested in what space has to hide" She stares at me "Ah, sorry, I ruined the mood, didn't I?"
"...No, I just didn't expect you to know" she admits a little surprised. Or at least, what I think is surprise. Her eyes had widened a few millimeters upon hearing me speak.
"I studied many branches of engineering, including nuclear before I graduated" I reply with a shrug.
She nods, once again a little stunned. But the moment of calm is broken by Jarvis.
"Sir, an unidentified object is heading in the direction of this room at high speed, initiating defense protocols"
Miyu stiffens, a vein of fear crosses her eyes and without warning metal bulkheads cover the windows, just in time I might add, because a loud crash leaves a dent in the heavy metal plate, nearly shattering the armored glass of the window. I pulled the girl away before the glass shards could hit her.
"What in the...?" seeing the affected area return, with a shape not unlike a bowling ball.
"I'm sorry. I didn't have time to activate the anti-aircraft defenses. However, sir, I think you should look at this"
A holographic screen appears, showing us the outside of the home area. Something comes out of the recess, floating a little wobbly. It has a circular shape, inside which is a six-pointed yellow star in a ring that has two small blue beads, with two pairs of butterfly-like wings that lighten as they descend towards the bottom.
"When shown to have the ability to speak, I asked it to identify itself it stated to be a 'kaleidostick' named Sapphire. She says she was unintentionally thrown here by her creator and needs help."
I looked at Miyu, who was clinging to me, stiff as a board. Her stoic expression replaced by one that was a little frightened and alarmed.
"Did she tell you why she's here?" honestly, it arrived earlier than I expected.
The initial timeline of Prisma Illya I don't remember it particularly well, since it started to be interesting mainly from the third season. Class cards arrived at the same time as Miyu in Japan; so how did they quickly get two if Sapphire had been with Luvia for a while and the Kaleidostick found Miyu the same night she arrived? Or was it me who remembered them wrong?
"She says her creator, Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg, was traveling between dimensions when he sensed a powerful magical disturbance, and came to inquire a few hours ago. During the journey, however, he and his apprentices ran into a biker danger" the AI replies, causing me to frown. I'm pretty sure it's not telling us everything. I know the old vampire, if someone managed to hold him back then it must have been stupidly powerful, and that is worrisome. Are they anywhere near our dimension? that doesn't bode well "He sent his apprentices home since the opponent was too dangerous and launched her and her sister here, to retrieve some strange cards that radiated power. From what she says it sounds like a pretty serious threat if left untreated."
"Some cards…?" Miyu murmurs worried, making me frown.
Was the plot already underway? Miyu was nowhere near able to fight at the moment. Even with my poor perception I could tell that she is almost completely out of mana, and her circuits were so overheated that they kept her warm for almost two hours before I found her. Do we have time to prepare, or are the class cards already starting to show up?
"Send her in, let's see what she has to say"
After my order the bulkheads go up, together with one of the windows, letting in the cold night air.
[Good evening. I'm sorry for my sudden and turbulent arrival, but I was thrown by the Grand Master towards the greatest source of magical power he sensed at the time. My sister should be in town too] the mystic code cordially introduces herself [As I reported to Jarvis-san, my full name would be Kaleidostick magical Sapphire, nice to meet you] the wand ends with a 'bow', for how strange it felt to even say it in my head.
"...Emiya Miyu" is literally two words and wary the girl in my arms.
"Well, since this seems to be an evening full of meetings, my name is Kurogane Jack" I introduce myself "So, may I know how you and your grandmaster arrived in this world?"
[My creator is a user of the second true sorcery, the Kaleidoscope. I don't know if it's a familiar term in this dimension] the flying wand replies [As I told Jarvis-san, I was sent here to retrieve the cards, but I can't do it myself. I need help from someone with great magical potential, like the girl next to you]
"Do you need help recovering your class cards...? All right. I'll do it" Miyu replies without hesitation, detaching herself from me and approaching the mystic code.
However, I stop her before she can take more than a few steps, and she looks at me questioningly.
"Don't rush into something obviously dangerous so quickly, especially not without information" I warn her, before turning to Sapphire "Tell us everything there is to know about the situation. Any detail you know is important, don't leave anything out."
[Proper point] agrees the kaleidostick [Class cards, according to my information, are seven powerful artifacts loaded with magical power. Unfortunately, the grand master could not look into the situation further because we were attacked by a motorcycle thug]
"If he was a motorcycle offender, why didn't he avoid him or run away?" asks Miyu confused.
[He would have, if that thug wasn't a dragon over a hundred meters long] replies the flying wand seriously [Its power was shocking. Thinking it was too much for his apprentices to handle, he sent them home and hurried my sister and I here, while he stayed behind to hold him]
Her description was annoyingly familiar. I'm sure I've read a similar description somewhere, but I just can't put my finger on it. The only explanation to this is that whatever it is, I read it in my previous life. Unfortunately, eidetic memory perfectly saves what I've read after I get it, not before.
[I'm sorry I can't provide more information on this, but that's all I know. Will you help me collect the cards, Miyu-sama?] she asks hopefully, making her new mistress nod.
"Yes"
No hesitation, even though the mystic code warned her that she was embarking on an extremely dangerous mission without any information. Was she always so impulsive? Well, I don't think so. While she was fighting in the prillyaverse she was always quite calculating and thoughtful, so I think she's just eager to retrieve the cards?
"Well, if that's okay with you, I'll help too" Their gaze shifts to me "I don't look very impressive compared to some guys you might find out there, but modestly speaking I'm pretty smart, and I've built more than a couple of things that will come in handy in the mission"
The girl and the kaleidostick look at each other, confused and a little curious (I hope), before returning their attention to me.
"Sir, Yagi-san is at the door and wants to know why the defense system tripped" Jarvis informs us, making me stiffen a little with discomfort.
"Maybe…I should warn you that my new guardian is a bit…eccentric"
Miyu tilts her head in confusion.
