Joyce Summers: The Vampire
Disclaimer: This is right after the episode, "The Body". I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer or its writing. Everything belongs to Joss Whedon. This is something that I am doing for fun. I'm winging it.
I know that this is probably something that I shouldn't have written, but I had to see what would happen if I posted this. Sims 3 inspired me to write this when I turned Joyce Summers into a vampire.
All reviews are welcome!
Chapter One: The Transformation
Joyce Summers opened her new yellow eyes. Everything was dark. Even the air was dark. Where was she? She wondered. Joyce tried to move, but she found that she was in a tight space. She couldn't move her arms very far. Joyce couldn't even stretch her limbs. Then she realized where she was. She was underground. She was in a coffin. Instead of fear engulfing her, she found strength. Joyce ripped open the coffin and tore through the dirt and bugs.
She could hear the bugs in the soil squirm as she dug herself out. It took some time, but Joyce managed to get out. She was in the cemetery. Once she was out of the dirt, a feeling of hunger washed over her. It was a new kind of hunger. Joyce dusted herself off and looked down at her grave. Her fingers traced over the kind words that were written to honor her.
That's when it hit her…
She was dead.
Joyce thought she would be afraid, but she wasn't. Instead, she embraced this new life. Her face changed back to human Joyce and she walked out of the graveyard. Everything she knew had changed. Having a life, getting married, and having children meant nothing now. Now, she was a vampire. She was on the opposite side of the war that her beloved daughter fought. Joyce didn't care. She knew what to do. It was like this force had called her. It had whispered things in her head. She knew exactly what she needed to do to stop this new pain.
The pain was hunger. She searched for something to eat. There was something that she needed to do. In her heart, she knew what to do. She needed to eat someone. Joyce needed blood. She wasn't squeamish at that thought, she was rather happy about it. That's when she saw her target.
A young woman was jogging with headphones in. Joyce followed her for quite some time. Joyce's face changed and her fangs elongated. Then Joyce stopped. She needed to think. She needed shelter. Something was after her now. Some new power. She felt it. Joyce followed the young woman to her home. It was a small home and Joyce had hoped that the young woman lived alone.
Before the young woman stepped inside, Joyce tackled her and pinned her down on the front steps. The woman cried out for help, but there was no one there. A rush of joy circulated through Joyce's veins. The adrenaline kicked in and she sank her teeth into the young woman's neck.
The hot blood flowed through Joyce's mouth. She could feel the young woman's heart slowing down. That excited her. Joyce continued to drink and the young woman died in her arms. Joyce Summers was now a true vampire. The young woman's body was limp and was slowly becoming cold. Joyce stood up and licked her lips. She walked over to the front door and slowly opened it. The house was empty and dark. A smile flashed across her lips and she stepped right over the threshold of the front door.
Joyce entered it without a problem.
She walked into the house and turned on the lights. She explored it a little and found some of the rooms to be useful for her stay. She wasn't going to hide in an alley or an abandoned building. She decided that this house was going to be her new home. Joyce walked back outside and saw the body on her steps. She couldn't just leave it. She had to do something with it. She sighed heavily and took care of the body. She buried it in the backyard.
"Thank you." Joyce told the unmarked grave and walked back to the house.
She decided she was dirty and needed a shower. Joyce closed the front door and locked it. She did her nightly routine and crawled into bed. The next day she almost burst into flames. Joyce forgot to close the curtains. She wasn't used to being the one that needed protection from the sun. She immediately jumped out of bed and was thrown into the hallway. She shook her head when she realized she was trapped.
The stairs were flooded with sunlight from the front windows. There was nothing for her to do but to stay where she was, on the landing. Note to self: Close all the curtains at night to avoid this problem. Joyce sat down on the step and let her mind wonder. What were her daughters up to? Should she even try to see them? Joyce had missed them terribly, but she felt like that was a different lifetime.
What would they even say if they saw her? A vampire?
Joyce shook her head. No. They were dead to her. They weren't even family anymore. Did she even have a family? Joyce wondered. Who made her like this? Her memory was gone. There was no way that she would have agreed to this so someone pretty powerful must have done something to her before she died.
Did someone slip her something? Was it Spike?
Joyce wondered who changed her. She needed to figure that out. No, she desperately wanted to figure that out. Whoever that person was her only family now. Were they looking for her? Joyce had all these thoughts. Then she drifted to sleep. Her dreams were all out of place. She dreamt she was in the graveyard and her daughter was there. Her daughter was hunting her. Joyce ran through the graveyard, trying to get away. Her daughter tackled her and pinned her to the ground.
"Buffy, please," Joyce begged. "Don't do this!"
"Mom, you're a vampire." Buffy said flatly. "Don't make this harder than it has to be."
She raised the stake and went to strike, but Joyce woke up. She had fear all over her soul. She was trembling. Joyce shook her head and realized it was dark. Thank God, Joyce thought. Or whatever. Joyce got up and headed downstairs. She picked up something, a heartbeat. Someone was here. No way! Joyce thought. I killed the owner! Normally, that thought would have haunted her. She had killed someone…
However, that wasn't the thought that frightened her. Someone was here. Who the hell was here?! Joyce quietly walked downstairs. She was careful not to make a sound. Joyce went around the hallway. Whoever was here had a key and turned on the lights. The person was a young man with short dark hair and a muscular body. Whoever it was smelled like the owner.
"Becca?" The young man called out.
Becca? Joyce repeated. Was that the name of the young woman she had killed? He looked much like her. They must be siblings. The young man whirled around and gasped. Joyce raised her hands up and said,
"It's okay. Don't-"
She was about to tell him not to scream, but the young man had cried out. Joyce rolled her eyes and her face changed. He screamed again and Joyce tackled him. Her fangs elongated and she sank her teeth into his neck. Great, Joyce thought. Another body to clean up after. Joyce drank and drank until the blood stopped flowing. She licked her lips. At least she didn't have to go hunting. Joyce sat on top of the body and asked,
"What am I going to do with you?"
She eyed the fireplace and then shook her head. No way. No way was she going to do that. Joyce got that thought of her head and grabbed the same shovel from before. She buried the young man next to the young woman. The bodies were starting to pile up. The only thing that Joyce could think of was that young man was looking for the young woman. They smelled the same so Joyce thought that they were related.
Joyce cleaned her hands and went back inside. She did some exploring and walked to the attic. She pulled out family albums and did in fact confirm that that young woman and the young man were related. Joyce took out the photos and looked at the back. The names on the back said: Becca and Ryan. Well, Joyce just killed a whole family. Why didn't that thought bother her?
It was as if she were someone new.
The old her, the mother part of her, would have cried. She just wiped out a whole family and nothing bothered her? In fact, Joyce was still hungry. She needed to go out and get something to eat. She also needed to find out who did this to her. Joyce put the family albums away and walked back downstairs. Something called out to her. Joyce put her hands over her ears. She wanted to ignore it.
The call was so strong.
She needed it. She needed to find something to eat.
Joyce walked to the park and waited for someone to eat. She sat on the swing and patiently waited for her food to come. Others hunted. She waited. A mother and a child walked by and Joyce's head turned. She snarled and the mother pushed her child away.
"Go, run!" the mother yelled.
Joyce ran and tackled the mother. Her face changed and she sank her teeth into her neck. The mother screamed and someone tapped her on the shoulder.
"Hey!" a female voice yelled.
Joyce's heart sank. She knew that voice. She turned around and saw her daughter standing behind her. Joyce let go of the mother and stood up. She licked her lips. Buffy's eyes widened in fear.
"Mom?" Buffy asked, completely stunned.
"Buffy," Joyce said and smiled. Her face changed back to human Joyce. "How are you?"
"Who did this to you?" Buffy asked and her hand with the stake dropped.
"I don't know Buffy," Joyce said. "But it's a whole new world. I have this power, strength, and speed."
Buffy shook her head and her eyes watered. "No…"
"Oh Buffy, please don't be upset. I believe we can help each other." Joyce lied. "I can help you rid the world of evil now."
"Mom, you're part of that evil." Buffy pointed out.
Joyce shrugged. "It doesn't have to be that way."
Buffy backed away. "This isn't happening…"
"Buffy, please, think about what you're doing." Joyce begged. "You lost me once. Now, you'll never have to lose me."
"Why didn't you come to us the moment you came out of the grave?" Buffy asked, tears streaming down her cheeks. "If you want us together then you should have come to us."
"I see your point dear, but it was confusing and I was afraid." Joyce said. "But now, I see that we can all be together. You don't have to destroy me."
"Who did this to you?" Buffy demanded, suddenly becoming angry.
Joyce looked at her and shook her head. "I honestly don't know." She said, "I want to know who did this to me as well."
"I'll find them," Buffy said. "I'll find them and destroy them as well."
She raised her hand with the stake and charged after Joyce. Joyce put her hands up and back away. "Wait! How's Dawn?!"
Buffy's eyes watered again. Tears flowed down her cheeks. "Do you really think you can change my mind about vampires?"
"Yes," Joyce lied. "I think that we can be a family. You don't have to do this Buffy."
Buffy fell to the ground. She never thought that her mother would be turned into a vampire. What was she going to do? Joyce looked at her daughter and saw her wrestle with the decision. While she was down, Joyce charged after and pinned her own daughter to the ground. Buffy struggled beneath her and shook her head.
"No Mom!" Buffy yelled. "Think about Dawn!"
"I can change you," Joyce said. "We can all be together forever."
Then Joyce realized she had no idea how to turn someone into a vampire. She hadn't been taught that yet. Buffy looked at her and kicked her in the stomach, sending her flying. Buffy stood up and gripped the stake in her hand. Joyce stood up and looked at her daughter. She needed to figure out how to turn her, but first she needed to get out. Joyce looked around and ran. Buffy ran after her, but Joyce was fast and was able to hide from her in a nearby burial chamber.
"I will find you!" Buffy screamed. "I promise you!"
With those last words, Joyce stayed hidden. She wasn't upset. She was curious. She wanted to learn how to turn someone. Then maybe she could turn her daughters. Joyce thought she was safe and got up. She walked out of the burial chamber and walked back to Becca's house. Once she got there, she was exhausted, and the sun was coming up. Before the sun pierced through the windows, Joyce quickly closed all the curtains.
That day she had weird dreams again. Buffy was chasing her, but this time Dawn was with her. They were both hunting her down. Joyce managed to hide from them each time in her dreams. She was sick of hiding. Joyce opened her eyes. It was time to go hunting again. Though, now her daughter knew of her. She had to be careful. Joyce decided to walk around town. She needed to find her creator. There was this mystical pull, but she couldn't find them.
Joyce had a feeling that her creator was in the area. Watching her.
She waited in an alley and found someone. Joyce tackled them and sank her teeth into their neck. She dumped the body behind a dumpster and hid it with a tarp. A sense washed over her. Someone was behind her.
"Someone's been busy." a male voice said.
Author's Notes: This was a fun project! Who should be behind her? Her Sire? Spike? Should Spike be her Sire? Please review and let me know!
