Author's note: My story was removed from the 'Pokémon's best of the best' Community page :c I am unsure why, and I am a little sad, but in the end, the show must go on.
Being removed did teach me something: The opinions of others are nice, but in the end, what matters is that I want to make something that I'm proud of- that I can look back in fondness. I can't just do it because I want to have recognition. Recognition would be nice, but not something that I should base my entire story and my worth as a writer on.
I'm writing this here for myself, but I hope that other writers that are reading this learn from this too. Write on!
I made a promise to make this story the best that it can be, and that's what I'm going to do! No matter what!
I hope you guys enjoy this chapter!
Chapter 24: Birth of The Demon
Mela was watching the rest of her Team Star Grunts fix the wall that was broken from her fight with Kai. She was leaning her back against the Starmobile and had her arms crossed.
Suddenly, a call came to her phone, which flew out of her pocket and floated in front of her. The phone's ringtone was a suppressed version of the theme she and her team agreed would play when a challenger faced them. Mela took one of her hands while keeping the other crossed and pressed the 'Accept Call' button.
"What's up?" Mela asked.
"Mela! This is bad..!" It was a voice of a female team star grunt. "It's Eri! She was fighting a challenger, and the challenger was really strong, so she was forced to use Turos!"
Mela's eyes widened in sheer horror as she stood up.
"What?!" She cried. "Why!?"
"She said she wanted to protect us and felt bad she was losing, and-"
"What is she doing?! Where is she?!" She cried.
"She's on an uncontrollable rampage… the challenger was defeated, and now she's attacking everyone- and I'm scared-!"
"GRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"
"NONONONONONO- THAT'S THE BASE! DON'T DESTROY THE WALL-"
The sound of a loud crash echoed from Mela's phone along with Eri's loud cry.
"Sh-She left the HQ! She's out in the wilderness..! Who knows who she'll hurt!?"
"I- I'll be right there!" Mela cried. She turned off the phone, and started sprinting toward the crowd of Team Grunt members under her supervision.
"Guys there's an emergency at the Calph Squad HQ!" Mela cried as she ran past them. "I have to get there fast! Keep fixing the place!"
The Team star grunts exchanged looks, shrugged, and went back to work.
Nemona's arm was around Kai all over again, she had a bright smile on her face and was talking about a battle that she had a while ago. Tinkatuff refused to go into her Pokeball, and so was walking by the two trainers. Nemona went on about her battle, and Kai was half-listening, because he was deep in his own thoughts. Not only was he thinking about the Egg that was in his backpack and what was inside of it, he was thinking about his battle with Mela.
Mela had to be one of the strongest trainers there was- and evne still, wasn't as strong as Nemona. How strong was Nemona? There's no way that Nemona could lose to anyone… right? No- there has to be someone stronger than her. There's no way that someone like her could be the absolute best Pokémon trainer in existence.
"So anyway-" Nemona continued, "I-"
"Hey- Nemona?"
"Yeah? What's up?"
"Who's the strongest trainer you know?"
Nemona put a bent finger under her lower lip. "The strongest trainer I know…" She muttered. "Oh! La Primera-... Wait, that's right…."
"What?"
Nemona shook her head. Her smile slowly faded into a frown. "...She doesn't go by 'La Primera' anymore."
Kai's eyes widened in extreme shock. "What?!" He cried. "Why?!"
"...Well…" Nemona sighed again.. "Let me explain how she got the name.. It started after I fought her and won."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I'll explain it the same way Geeta told me a while back…After she found out I didn't use my full strength against Geeta when I beat her for the first time."
"Wait wait wait wait-" Kai said. "You HELD BACK?"
"Yeah."
"WHY!?"
Nemona held her head low, sighed, and scratched the back of her head.
"I uh… no…comment?"
"NEMONA!"
"It wasn't that I was being disrespectful! I just-... I didn't want to, okay?! Besides, it turned out fine. Kinda..."
Kai sighed and shook his head.
"Just- Just tell me the story, will you?" He asked.
"Okay… So after Geeta found out that I held back against her, she came to me, and told me a story before thanking me. I'll…tell you the story Geeta told me before I get into how our rematch went."
Young Geeta was a tiny girl, she had short black hair with shades of blue tanned skin and piercing blue eyes. She had on a Uva Academy outfit and was sitting on the floor of Uva academy next to a closed door.
"She's failing because she's falling asleep in school!?" The voice of her angered father echoed loud enough to cut through the wood door and into the girl's ears.
"Do you want to tell me why she isn't paying attention? The voice of her mother sounded soft and kind, yet Geeta could sense the anger her parent was holding back.
The young, eight-year-old Geeta was hugging her legs, thinking back on the reason why she waslso badly in her class. She shouldn't have been so careless, but it wasn't her fault that the class was boring.
"A teacher told her that she could pass the class despite having an F!? Are you kidding me?!" Geeta's father went on to shout and cry out. Geeta's mother was attempting to calm her husband and continue to ask questions about her child's situation at class.
Geeta just lowered her head in shame. She knew what she did- she had fallen asleep in class on purpose, knowing full well that she didn't want to learn anything. The topics were too boring, anyway- and since she didn't need to have a passing grade to pass the class, why should she, or anyone in her shoes care?
"Geeta's has been sleeping in class repeatedly," The teacher said. "It's been going on for too long, and-"
"You think we aren't aware!?" Geeta's father yelled. "She doesn't listen- I don't know why she doesn't listen, but she doesn't!"
"We'll get to the bottom of it," Geeta's mother said.
"Thank you," The teacher said with a sigh.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and Geeta's father looked down at his daughter. He was a built man, tall, lean, bald, and had a beard the same color as Geeta's hair. Geeta's father took one look at Geeta, then looked away, his hand in his face and a shameful sigh pass his lips.
Geeta felt her heart shatter a bit.
Geeta's mother then walked out of the room. The parent had long, beautiful flowing hair- and it was admirable. So much so that Geeta wished that she'd get long hair like her mother's one day, when she grew up.
"Let's go to the car," Geeta's mother said after a sigh.
They were both quiet on the way out of the academy, and as the little girl walked with her parents, she felt like she was on the highway to Hell. The moment she walked out of the academy was the moment she'd get yelled at by her father and mother. She had slept in class before, many times, on purpose, because she just didn't want to learn the boring stuff.
She'd gotten in trouble before in the past about sleeping in class. What would happen was that her mother and father would give them a lecture, she'd listen, say that she wouldn't do it again, and then she'd be fine to do it again. Everything would be okay.
She could just go back to sleeping in class all over again, and go through the most boring time of her life like it's nothing.
As soon as Geeta and her parents left the Uva building, Geeta's skin began to crawl as she braced herself for the lecture. In front of the three of them was a single, giant Pelipper with reins on its beak. The reins were connected to a large basket, similar to a hot air balloon's passenger basket.
Geeta's mother and father didn't say a word to their daughter, even as they walked onto the passenger's basket. Pelipper began to lift with its massive beak, and fly into the sky and toward their home.
The entire ride, Geeta's parents were silent. And that…was more punishing than any lecture could ever be. Geeta wanted badly to just ask her parents why they weren't saying anything. Had she finally gotten on their last nerve? Had she done something so bad, that she was a disappointment? A failure?
She'd messed up badly, hadn't she? She'd messed up so bad that her parents had no idea what to say to her, and probably hate her now. Geeta felt like crying, but held in her tears. She didn't want to make her parents angrier.
Soon, the balloon landed next to Geeta's home. Geeta kept her head low as her parents went straight inside without saying a was only told one thing after getting to their house: "Go to your room."
Night time had come, and Geeta lay on her bed with tears in her eyes. She just wanted her parents to love her again, to at least say something to her- because saying something meant that they still at least had hope for her to be better. Saying nothing just… made her feel awful.
She'd messed up badly, and she knew she did, but she had no idea how to rectify it. Wait- there was a way to rectify it: Saying sorry.
She decided that she'd go into her parents' bedroom, and opened the door. Both of her parents were lying in bed, covered from head to toe in covers. Geeta walked up to her parents, and then said sorry.
Her parents didn't respond.
"Mom? Dad? I'm sorry…" She said.
Still no response.
The child's mind of Geeta was beginning to shut down from the emotional anguish. She silently collapsed to her hands and knees, and began to sob silently.
"Only now, in my adulthood," Geeta said to Nemona as she stood in front of her next to the Pokemon League Headquarters. "Did I realize that my parents were asleep when I said 'Sorry'. All of my life, I thought that they had stopped loving me. It's rather…funny, thinking back on it."
"Oh.." Nemona said. "I'm… I didn't mean to have you remember such a painful memory."
"No, no," Geeta said, shaking her head. "I'm not here to give you a reason to feel bad. I'm here to thank you. Because I heard that you weren't trying your hardest against me, I now realize that I haven't been living up to the expectation of being the top champion… And becoming that child that I once was. I am not simply a obstacle a trainer must pass. What I should be is their ultimate test. Being the strongest trainer means that I must be the strongest." Geeta stared at her now open palm. "Clearly, I was going back to my old ways, after reaching the top. I was becoming sloppy. Careless. Now…" Geeta clenched her open fist. "It's because of you, that I developed a new technique. One that no other trainer has ever used. My very own original technique."
"What..?"
"I trained so hard that I discovered it. I call it… 'Flow.' I have you to thank. I wouldn't have pushed myself so hard if you hadn't held back against me."
"I still… kind of feel bad." Nemona said. Nemona was starting to remember a bad memory of her own.
"Don't feel bad." Geeta said. "I have good news and bad news for you. The bad news is, as I am still human, I…still do harbor a bit of a grudge against you."
"Oh," Nemona said with a frown.
"The good news is, only way to resolve those feelings is with a battle. Will you battle with me?"
Nemona grinned widely with excitement. "Ooooh~! If it's a fight you want, it's a fight you'll get! A revenge match, huh?! Bring it!"
Geeta smiled. "I appreciate it. Also, please know that I hold no ill will toward you. I just have a need to settle things… think of it as a rivalry between you and I."
"Yeah! Of course! Let's start fighting!" Nemona said, forcing a smile. Geeta returned it and nodded. The two turned and took several steps away from one another to make space.
With a swift hand to their wrists, both trainers activated their Invoker armor. Neoma pulled out her Pokeball and threw out her first Pokémon of choice: Lycanroc(Midday form). Geeta pulled out her Pokeball and unleashed her Pokémon: Kingambit. Both Geeta and Nemona then pulled out Tera balls, and crushed them at the same time once their Pokémon came closer to their respective trainers. A rainbow pillar of light exploded below both of their feet as the terastailization sigil appeared in front of both of them. Soon, the pillars of light faded, and revealed both trainers.
Nemona's armor had completely changed from its usual shape. She now had a cape that matched the color of Lycanroc's mane, and the color of her armor matched the fir it had on its body. In her hands were two clawed knuckles which glowed with rock type energy.
Geeta's armor had changed entirely to match the look of Kingambit's armor, yellow stripes over a crimson red breastplate. In her head was a Japanese Sun hat worn by samurai. Her gauntlets were golden, and on her waist was a sheathed Katana. The moment Geeta pulled it out, it was shone to match the exact look of the blade sticking out of Kingambit's head- a golden blade with a white edge.
"I imagine you've gotten stronger as well?" Geeta asked, putting one hand on her hip and raising her sword toward her opponent.
"Of course," A grin came to Nemona's face.
"All right. Let's begin. Hold back at your own peril."
Nemona's eyes widened as a bead of sweat fell down her face. She had seen nothing like this before. But despite being afraid… a grin came to her face.
"Whatever this new Technique is…I'm excited to see it!"
"That's right-" Kai said, "I'd almost forgotten. If your Pokémon are powerful enough, the appearance of your armor changes too, right?"
Tinkatuff, who was wandering around the two of them, was breaking rocks with her hammer.
"Yeeeeeep!" Nemona said.
"So who won?"
"Geeta and I fought for a while… then…"
Geeta and Nemona's feet dragged against the floor as they were pushed away from one another after clashing with their weapons. Nemona was breathing hard, but Geeta looked completely relaxed. The top champion wasn't even breathing hard.
"Heh.." Nemona said, smiling. "You've definitely gotten better!"
"I should be insulted that you said that to me," Geeta said, "Considering I'm the Top Champion, and you're simply a champion-ranked trainer, but, I'm not. Because I was holding back."
"What?! You…never hold back! You specifically say..you're incapable of holding back!"
"It's because a part of me still harbored a grudge against you for not fighting me at your best from our previous fight. Forgive me."
"Eh- Don't worry about it..! You held back against me…I held back against you- I'd say we're even! So uh… on a scale of one to ten.. How… hard were you trying..?"
"On a scale of one to ten," Geeta said, "I'd say…I was at a three."
"Seriously..!? No way…!" Nemona said. She had been giving it at least 85% of her best at this point. An excited grin came to the battle-hungry trainer's face. Nemona thought that today was the day that she'd finally be able to cut loose, that she'd be able to fight against Geeta with all of her strength.
"I can tell you're about to give it your all, but unfortunately... You've already lost this battle," The moment those words passed her lips, Geeta took in a deep breath, sheathing her blade suddenly and going into a sword-drawing stance.
"H-Huh?"
"And now…Active…Flow. " Geeta's eyes suddenly began to shine sapphire blue- as though Geeta herself had gained a superpower.A powerful deep blue whirlpool of energy began to surge around Geeta, and her body began to shine. Her hair began to rise from the ground as a wind blew against her. The Japanese sun hat she wore fell over her head and hung by her neck with the string attached to it.
Nemona had never seen anything like it. She smiled widely, and entered a battle stance. Then, Nemona blinked. She blinked, before Geeta disappeared and she heard the ringing sound of a katana being unsheathed. What happened next was that several countless hair-thin purple colored cuts and slashes appeared on Nemona's armor. The pattern was identical to a net's.
Behind Nemona was Geeta, who was about to sheath her sword. Sakura petals fell around the woman and were slashed in half. Nemona slowly turned her head to the woman, who exuded a terrifying blue aura from her body.
"Klowtow Cleave," Geeta said. The woman sheathed her sword, and the cuts on Nemona's body exploded. Nemona's armor was shattered entirely in an instant. Nemona fell to her knees as the weapon that she wielded turned completely white and turned into a white orb that turned back into Lycanroc, who lay on the ground, unconscious.
The pain Nemona felt was excruciating, enough to have her start to fade into unconsciousness as she fell toward the ground.
"Don't worry," Geeta said, "I'll get you to a hospital as soon as I can,"
Nemona wasn't worried about getting to a hospital. She was more concerned with how terrifyingly strong Geeta had become…
She began to smile, and laughed softly to herself as her face hit the ground. With her cheek on the dirt, she saw Geeta approach her before she lost consciousness.
"No one has ever become a Champion-ranked trainer ever again since I beat her," Nemona said. "Because of her new ability, 'Flow', she became unbeatable. That Klotow cleave attack she used to finish me off? She uses that at the beginning of every fight with a new challanger. And every time, all the challengers she fought fell to that attack. Because of her eyes shining blue before she did her attack, the name 'La Primera' wasn't truly fitting. People started calling her La Primera less… and gave her a new nickname. Now, she's known as...El Diabla Azul. The Blue Devil."
"...Wow.." Kai said.
"I'm truly no match for her!" Nemona continued, "and I'm okay with that! I would challenge the Pokémon league again, but I've got you to look after!" Nemona said, patting Kai on the shoulder. "Even now, I haven't fought against someone with my full might! If I fought against Geeta, I would lose so fast I wouldn't even have time to go all out!"
Nemona started laughing as Kai just watched in complete shock. "Wow.." Kai said. "I wonder… can I become as strong as her?"
"Yeah, of course you can!" Nemona patted Kai again. "I want you to become even stronger than her! You can do it!"
Tinkatuff raised her hammer and destroyed another rock. She marveled at her work, then looked up at the road ahead of the two humans.
The Pokémon suddenly saw a person running, and they were rapidly coming closer. The Pokémon's eyes widened in shock as she approached Kai and started pulling on his pants.
"T-Tinka-..!" Tinkatuff cried, pointing ahead at the person approaching them.
"...Really?" Kai said, ignoring Tinkatuff. He crossed his arms. "I mean, I don't know…She has that 'Flow' thing-a-ma-jig. Unless I figured out how she uses it, I really don't see how I can-"
"RRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" An enraged girl's voice reached both trainers' ears. Kai's and Nemona's eyes began to widen in shock as they saw a giant girl with face paint that looked like a blue-skinned demon with two large teeth on its lower jaw. She had on a white dress with a short skirt, white leggings, and a black coat over her shoulders with a tiara. This girl was also wearing Invoker armor, and had two red horns glowing with fighting-type energy exploding outward. Her eyes were glowing red.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"
"Wh-What the?!" Kai cried.
Nemona's eyes widened as the girl leapt into the air with her fist raised, prepared to strike them both down. Nemona moved first, Pushing Kai out of the way, and lightly kicking Tinkatuff away. She looked up at the female berserker- having no time to dodge her attack.
A ball of flame flew and struck the Fighting-type berserker and sent her flying. Nemona turned around and saw Mela with one leg raised, and her invoker armor and burning boots engaged from tera-fusing with her Torkol.
"Are you okay?" Mela asked.
"I'm fine," Nemona said. "Thanks for the save,"
"You're welcome."
Kai groaned as he stood up. "Jeez…" He groaned. "What the heck's going on..? Now Mela's here..?"
"Tiinkaa…" Tinkatuff groaned while she stood up.
"Guys!" Mela cried. "That's my friend, Eri! She's gone berserk because of Tera-fusing with Taros..!"
"She tera-fused with Taros?!" Kai cried. "Why did she do that?! Everyone knows that if she does that she'll go into an uncontrollable rage!"
"Heh, it's so cool though!" Nemona cried. "The weapon you gain for fusing with Taros are their horns! It looks so cool on her- Plus she's so big! She's probably twice as strong as she normally is!"
Eri roared at the top of her lungs as a red, fighting type aura exploded from her body.
"Guys..!" Mela cried. "Now's not the time to marvel! Now's the time to fight!"
"R-right!" Kai cried. "Tinkatuff- we have to-"
Tinkatuff blew raspberry* at Kai.
"...Right, no badges. Quaxly!" Kai pulled out his Pokeball and threw out Quaxly, who cried out, ready to fight.
Nemona threw out Fuecoco, who came out with a battle cry.
Both Nemona and Kai activated their invoker armor as Eri took her foot and dragged it back and forth like a bull would when it's threatening to charge.
"I AM… THE BIG SISTER…" Eri cried. "I AM…THE PROTECTOR OF TEAM STAR! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Eri charged at her enemies.
Author's note: In the original game, Geeta didn't get that much narrative focus, so I thought that I'd change that.
(Yes, I've described what this was before, but this is for the people who may have forgotten what this term means.)
*Blowing Rasbery: 'Blowing Raspberry' is known as putting your tongue out and then blowing to make a fart-like noise.
