Chapter 35: The Titan's wrath
Bombardier was flying gently in the wind while holding the unconscious Kai on its apron made of its own shed feathers. The Titan Pokémon was using it like a cloth sheet of paper that the boy lied in.
While it was flying, suddenly, it felt a bump to its side, and spun its head to its attacker: Aeon.
"Put him down!" The boy cried, bumping his body against the bird again. Bombirdier squawked loudly and shook before glaring at Aeon.
Bombirdier screeched as it used Power bits and pieces of rock flew out of portals beside the bird that appeared from thin air. All of the rocks shot at Aeon like machine guns. Aeon dove and spun, dodging the salvo of rocks effectively. Moving like an arrow as the salvo of rocks followed him, Aeon spun around and started flying straight into the salvo. He was narrowly avoiding each rock as he closed the distance and landed a devastating punch to the bird's face. The bird staggered back as it lurched in pain as Aeon flew past its face, and U-turned to attempt to strike again.
Tinkatuff's POV:
"What do we do, what do we do, what do we do!?" Tinkatuff cried out as she and Kai's other Pokémon hung on the back of Arven, who was riding Miraidon to keep up with Bombirder.
"Such an unfortunate event has befallen us…" Quaxwell said. "This is most unpleasent-"
"Shut up, I'm trying to think!" Tinkatuff cried.
"I think I've got an idea-" Pawmo said. "But it's going to depend on you, Tinkatuff!"
"What is it!?"
Pawmo whispered into Tinkatuff's ear, and her eyes widened in surprise.
"That's an awesome idea!" Tinkatuff cried.
Pawmo nodded and leapt off of Miraidon.
"Is there a plan I do not know of?" Quaxwell asked. Tinkatuff grabbed Quaxwell by his back. "Oh, great heavens!" The pink Pokémon leapt off of Miraidon, and Arven hadn't even noticed. He just kept riding onward.
Tinkatuff ran to the closest tree she could find alongside Pawmo, while dragging Quaxwell along. Once they reached it, Pawmo leapt and kicked the tree, causing it to fall onto the floor, and Tinkatuff threw Quaxwell on top of the Tree.
"I do say!" Quaxwell cried, sounding offended. "How dare you throw me with such…a lack of elegance and grac-?"
"Shut up and hold on tight!" Tinkatuff said, running behind the fallen tree trunk and holding her hammer like it was a baseball bat.
"Rude," Quaxwell quacked.
Tinkatuff closed her eyes.
Adrenaline was what made people do amazing things, just like the mother who caught and lift up an entire Steelix with her hands when it had fallen unconscious and was about to fall on her child… If humans could gather that much strength at such moments… it should be the same for Pokémon!
All Tinkatuff had to do was imagine Kai getting hurt or falling from a fall to get her angry. An explosion of fairy type energy surrounded the tiny Pokémon like an aura.
"BRUTAL SWING!" The Tinkatuff cried. With a massive swing, Tinkatuff sent the fallen tree flying toward the Bombirdier.
Aeon was beating Bombirdier with everything he had, darting back and forth like an annoying fly and punching and kicking the bird with intense speed and power. Aeon flew, raising his fist to punch it directly in the face. Suddenly, The Titan Pokémon used Hyper Voice, and screamed at Aeon with enough volume to make the boy cover his ears and send him flying away.
Just as Bombardier did this, it gasped, noticing a tree flying directly for it. Quaxwell and Pawmo were standing on it. Bombardier swung its wing, sending an Air Slash at the tree. Both Electric type and water type Pokémon leapt out of the way just as the tree they stood on was slashed in half vertically. Quaxwell fired an ice beam from its mouth, and Pawmo landed on top of the torrent of ice, riding on it as it approached Bombirdier. The titan spun, twirling its entire body like a top as it narrowly avoided the ice beam that flew past its cheek. Just then, Pawmo leapt off of the Ice beam and fired a thunderbolt from its body, striking the flying type where it hurt- directly in the stomach. Bombirdier screamed in pain. The thunderbolt went away once Pawmo began falling toward the ground. Bombirdier lowered its wings, its body steaming from the thunderbolt.
Just then- Kai fell from the bird's cloth and plummeted toward the ground. Aeon flew in immediately, grabbing the boy bridal-style and keeping him in his arms. He looked down at the unconscious Kai and sighed deeply.
"I'm so sorry," Aeon said. Without thinking, Aeon pulled Kai close and hugged him the best he could while holding him bridal style. His cheek was against Kai's. "I'm so sorry…" Aeon said. "You don't deserve any of this…" He said. "I swear, I'll make it up to you, and then find out why the professors are making me do this." Aeon looked up at the enemy, which began to fly away. Aeon sighed in relief as he began floating downward to Arven and Kai's Pokémon, who watched and cheered as he descended to them.
"We did it," Aeon said, smiling as he touched the ground.
"I wonder where the Bombirdier went..." Arven said.
"It doesn't matter," Aeon said. "Kai's safe."
Arven grinned. "Enjoying having Kai in your arms?"
Aeon narrowed his eyes in annoyance.
"I saw you hugging him when you got him," Arven continued. The older boy walked up to his brother and slyly smiled. He then bumped his elbow onto his younger brother. "C'mon..." He teased.
Aeon sighed. "It's not what you thi-"
The sound of Bombirdier squawking was loud enough to send shockwaves of sound that blew against the entire group. They all looked up to see Bombirdier, even angrier than before, and shining with a yellow aura. Both boys gasped as the rest of the Pokémon stared in shock.
"I-I don't think we need any of your power-level sensors or anything to know that the Bombirdier became even stronger...!" Arven cried.
Aeon gritted his teeth.
"I'll take it on by myself.." He said. "Take Kai to the closest Pokécenter, quickly!"
"Are you sure you can take it on!?"
"I have to. Bombirdiers are stubborn. If I don't knock it out, it'll start hunting you and the others down. And if you stay here, you'll get in my way."
"Tch..! Fine...!" Arven said. He took Kai from Aeon's arms and ran over to Miraidon. "Just don't… Don't get hurt, okay?"
Aeon smiled and nodded. "Get going!" He cried. Aeon spun his head and glared furiously at the Bombirder as it roared loudly. Arven and Kai's Pokémon were already gone. Aeon pressed the hidden button on his temple to check the power level of the empowered Bombirdier. His eyes widened in shock.
"It's… It's more powerful than Kai and Arven combined...!?"
Bombirdier squawked loudly with a voice loud enough to send shockwaves across the area. The leaves and trees began to be pushed back by the awesome voice of the Titan Pokémon.
A harrowing thought came to the boy the moment he felt this pressure from the Pokémon. There was a chance he'd have to go beyond level 2 in order to defeat this beast. But if he decided to do that…
He'd risk self-destruction.
Aeon gulped. Maybe he could somehow scrape by and manage to win without that.
Bombirdier screeched at the top of its lungs- energy started gathering in front of its open beak. Aeon, relying on instinct, raised his fist which transformed into an arm cannon and aimed it at his opponent. The Titan Pokémon then released a hyper beam- and Aeon fired a beam of light from his arm. Both attacks collided and clashed- the sound of them hammering against each other sounded like thunder. Aeon gritted his teeth as his feet were dragged against the floor from the push of the beam struggle. Then, without warning, the Titan Pokemon screeched even louder, its yellow aura exploding outward as the hyper beam tripled in size. Easily eclipsing and overtaking the young boy- Bombardier's attack was seconds away from reaching Aeon.
But before it did- Aeon grit his teeth and managed to shout something: "Combat Level 2..! Activate!"
An electric aura exploded around the boy as his own beam exploded, matching the size of its oppressor. The beam quickly reached the Titan Pokemon, and completely consumed it. An explosion rang out the moment this happened. Aeon felt an indescribable amount of weight on the arm he used to fire the blast and watched as it fell to the ground like a rock. Holding onto his weighted arm with his other hand, Aeon looked up at the smoke in the air, waiting for Bombirdier's unconscious body to fall… Only to see the titan still holding strong and remaining in the air. It flapped its large wings fervently, as though the damage it took was non-existent.
Aeon gritted his teeth. Despite being down one limb, he wasn't about to let this thing go anywhere near Arven or Kai.
WARNING- PERMANENT DESTRUCTION MAY BE IMMINENT! SHUT DOWN IS REQUIRED!
That familiar message rang in Aeon's head again. As the robot boy's breathing became faster, he began to wonder to himself if he was going to survive.
