Sabaku no Kitsune: Chapter 14
Suna: 4 hours after Naruto's return
"Ok,ok,ok lets see" Naruto said as he rushed around the Sabaku household "found it" Naruto said as he grabbed a box out of the weapons room; Naruto walked out and put the box down on a table and opened it revealing it was full of explosive tags. "This should be enough" Naruto said a he grabbed the tags and began to pack them into his bag.
"Naruto calm down" Temari said chasing Naruto around; she saw him grabbing the tags and became alarmed "what the hell are you going to do with those" Temari asked worried. Naruto turned to her with a crazed look on his face.
"I'm going to blow those 2 bitches up" Naruto said shocking Temari; Naruto turned to the tags and smiled "Yeah I'll blow them up, that'll work for sure, yeah, yeah, yeah" he said. Gaara, Obito, Karin and Sango were looking on in surprise.
"I think he's having another mental breakdown" Gaara said and Obito looked at him.
"Wait this happened before" Obito asked alarmed and Gaara nodded; suddenly the door opened up and Kankuro walked in.
"Kankuro talk to Naruto please" Temari said and Kankuro nodded.
"Sure" Kankuro said as he sat next to Naruto "Naruto look I got as many poison bombs as I could; we can gas her if need be" Kankuro said shocking Temari.
"Kankuro are you insane" Temari said and Kankuro looked at her.
"You weren't there the first time Temari" Kankuro shouted "you did not see the evil in that little girls' eyes; we have to kill her, I'm with Naruto on this one" he said and Naruto looked at him with a crazed smile.
"Thanks, Kankuro I can rely on you" Naruto said and Kankuro nodded; the door opened once more and Kurumi walked in with a sword on her back and wearing armor on her chest.
"My arm is good enough to fight" Kurumi said "you 2 ready to rock and roll" she asked and both Naruto and Kankuro nodded.
"Kurumi are you really going to kill an 8-year-old and her aunt" Obito asked concerned; Kurumi turned towards him with her sharingan blazing.
"That 'little girl' brike my arm and damn near killed me, Naruto and Karin" Kurumi said "I ain't leavin' no loose ends; she vowed revenge and I ain't gonna wait til she rolls in and kill me" Kurumi said.
"Would you 3 listen to yourselves" Sango shouted "this is murder" she said.
Naruto looked at her with a dead serious expression "I prefer to think of it as premeditated self-defense" Naruto said getting up and gathering up his gear "come on you 2 lets- "Naruto began until Temari grabbed his shoulders and sat him back down.
"Naruto calm down and think this through" Temari said worried "you are talking about killing a little girl; you. Can. Not. Do. That" Temari said to him with heavy emphasis. Naruto looking into her eyes nodded.
"You know what; you're right Temari" Naruto said making Temari let out a sigh of relief as she thought she got through to him "I don't have to kill her" Naruto said.
The next day: A sketchy Suna bar
Naruto with Kankuro and Kurumi threw a brief case full of cash onto a table and spoke "I'm glad you came here on such short notice" Naruto said "I heard you are the best; and I need 2 people gone pronto" Naruto said.
"You came to the right man" Kakuzu said sitting across from Naruto and looking at the money "who are the targets" Kakuzu said.
"A little girl Asuka and woman named Akeno" Naruto said in total seriousness "will that be a problem" he asked.
"No, it will not" Kakuzu said "I'll kill anyone; men, women, old people, babies, children, animals, plants, anything" Kakuzu said.
"Good now- "Naruto began until the door to the bar opened up and an angry Temari, Obito, Gaara and Sango entered.
"Are you fucking kidding me" Temari shouted as she stormed forward "an assassin; you are going way to far" she shouted as she took out some money and threw at Kakuzu who caught it. "Take the money, job's canceled; sorry for the bother" she said and Kakuzu shrugged as free money was better than no money.
"What the hell Temari" Kankuro shouted "we- "Kankuro began until he was encased in sand by Gaara.
"You are coming with me" Gaara said as he dragged a cursing Kankuro out.
Sango went up and grabbed Kurumi by the ear "you are grounded young lady" she said as she pulled her to the side.
"Ow, ow, ow mom" Kurumi whined from the pain.
"Damn it Temari" Naruto said and Temari slammed her hands on the table.
"Naruto take a chill pill" Temari said angrily; Kakuzu cleared his throat and spoke.
"I can help with that" Kakuzu said opening his cloak and everyone saw he had a large collection of drugs on him "I got weed, coke, crack, heroin, acid, LSD, uppers, downers, tranquilizers, meth, adoral, oxy, morphine, things to make your dick hard, things to make your dick soft, things to help you find your dick, mushrooms, bath salts, birth control, plan B, flintstone gummies; take your pick" Kakuzu said with total seriousness.
Everyone was looking at him like he was and asshole; Sango then walked up and put down some money.
"I need a Xanax" Sango said surprising everyone; Kakuzu took out a bag with a Xanax pill and Sango popped it into her mouth and drank it down with Naruto's glass of water "oh god this is stressful" she said.
Temari took another wad of money and threw it at Kakuzu who caught it "get the fuck out" Temari said her patience running thin.
Kakuzu got up and handed Naruto a business card "if you change your mind you know how to get me" Kakuzu said as he walked out of the bar.
Temari grabbed Naruto by the arm and picked him up "home. Now" Temari said as she dragged Naruto home.
Back at the house
Temari dragged Naruto back into the house with Obito, Gaara, Sango and Kurumi following shortly behind them.
Temari threw Naruto on the couch and glared at him "Naruto I've put up with a lot of your crap but you've gone too far this time; you are acting crazy" Temari said and Naruto got up with an angry look on his face.
"GODDAMNIT TEMARI; MY FEET ARE GLUED TO THE BICYCLE ON THIS ONE" Naruto shouted as he began to pace around "I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO PROTECT YOU AND EVERYONE I LOVE" he shouted to everyone's surprise. "I'LL DO IT EVEN IF IT MEANS LYING" Naruto said picking up a chair "OR PHYSICALLY HURTING PEOPLE" he shouted as he threw it at a window breaking it. "OR DOING PUSHUPS IN A SAUNA" Naruto said as he walked into a room adjacent; Temari ran over and locked the door behind him "ON A BED OF NEEDLES WITH A NAKED GRANNY TSUNADE ON MY BACK" Naruto shouted walking out another door back into the room. "IS THAT CRAZY; DO I SOUND LIKE A CRAZY PERSON" Naruto shouted looking at Temari.
"Naruto" Temari said softly.
"ACABIBA" Naruto shouted incoherent.
"Naruto" Temari repeated.
"RABIBABASHABILAM" Naruto shouted again.
Temari then grabbed onto Naruto hugging him and stopping his ranting; Naruto stopped and Temari pulled away and Naruto looked at her face. Temari was crying.
"Naruto, please stop" Temari said her voice breaking "you are scaring me" Temari said; Naruto looked at her and he paused. "Naruto, I know you are under a lot of pressure" Temari said softly "I know that you are scared; but if you keep this up… I don't know what I'm going to do" she said.
Naruto pulled away and walked over to the couch and buried his face in his hands "I-I- "Naruto stammered out "I can't lose any of you" Naruto said. Sango walked up and sat beside him and put her hand on his shoulder "I lost everything in Konoha" Naruto said "if you all didn't save me… if I was just left there… I… I probably would've just… offed myself" Naruto said shocking them all. "I would've just ended it, be done with it all; no more hateful glares, no more 'demon brat' or 'hell spawn', no more suffering" Naruto said looking over to Temari.
"But when I got a new life here in Suna I thought 'this is it; I can have a home, a family, a life where I'm not hated'" Naruto said "I had brothers in Gaara and Kankuro; then Obito came along and I got a sensei again" he said and Obito got a look of both happiness and sadness. "I got Kurumi as a little sister" Naruto said looking over to the black-haired girl; he then turned to Sango and grabbed her hand "and I got a surrogate mom in Ms. Sango here" he said with a small smile.
"And you Temari" Naruto said looking at the blonde girl "I-I love you" Naruto said shocking her. "And when that girl and her aunt threatened to kill you and everyone else here" Naruto said his voice cracking "I knew I could not let that happen… because if that happens… then… I would just…" Naruto began but couldn't continue as he began to cry.
Sango grabbed Naruto and pulled him into a hug as the boy began to sob uncontrollably.
Temari and the others now realized why Naruto was acting so crazy; he was afraid he was going to lose them. Sango motioned for Temari to come over and Temari did so; Sango let go and Temari grabbed Naruto.
"Naruto" Temari said trying to calm him down "You are not going to lose us; you are here and we are safe" Temari said; in between sobs Naruto nodded. Temari then grabbed Naruto's head and made him look at her; Temari then leaned in and kissed Naruto on the lips surprising him and everyone else in the room. Upon breaking the kiss Temari looked him in the eyes "Naruto… I love you too" she said "and I promise you that nothing will happen to me or anyone else here" she said.
Naruto hiccupped and wiped his tears "y-you promise" Naruto said and Temari nodded.
"I never go back on my word; it's my ninja way too" Temari said with a smile; Naruto buried his head into Temari's shoulder and she began to stroke his back while rocking him.
Gaara look on at this and turned to Obito "we should leave them be" Gaara said and Obito nodded; all 4 people left the room leaving the 2 blondes alone.
The next day: Kazekage office
Naruto, Temari, Obito and Karin were all standing in front of Gaara's desk "Naruto before you say what you need to say let be say something" he said and Naruto nodded "Karin" Gaara said.
"Yes, lord Kazekage" Karin said.
"Just Gaara is fine" Gaara said "as a rogue ninja of Kusa you can no longer go back home" he said and Karin nodded. "But from what you told the interrogators Kusa isn't much of a home" he said and Karin nodded.
"I'd rather die than go back" Karin said and Gaara nodded.
"Very well" Gaara said as he pulled out a Suna head band "if you wish you can live here in Suna under a new identity and be a shinobi" Gaara said. "If you wish to no longer be a shinobi you can still live here" Gaara said; Karin looked at the headband and picked it up.
"As long as no one uses me as a living medication bottle I'll do it" Karin said and Gaara nodded.
"Very well; you'll be placed on Obito's team as a genin" Gaara said and Karin nodded "now Naruto what is it you have to say" Gaara said looking over to the blonde in question. Naruto walked forward and took off his head band and placed it on Gaara's desk.
"I-I can't be a ninja right now Gaara" Naruto said to Gaara's surprise "I'm not in the right headspace; I've been on 3 C rank missions in under 4 months and each one ended worst than the last" Naruto said as he looked to him with sad eyes. "I'm just not ready" Naruto said; Gaara nodded and handed the headband back to Naruto.
"Keep it Naruto" Gaara said "you've been through a lot; take all the time you need and when you are ready, come right back" Gaara said and Naruto nodded.
"Thanks, Gaara" Naruto said pocketing the headband; Temari stepped up and held Naruto's hand.
"I've looked into several things" Temari said to Gaara "Elder Chiyo need help in the herb gardens, the hospital need help in the nurses' departments and Baki says there is a slot open for a helper in the Suna armory" Temari said. "I think some light work would be best for Naruto; you know to keep him busy and still help out" she said and Gaara nodded.
"Sounds good; I'll see what I can do" Gaara said; Obito then stepped up.
"There is a support group that meets up at the monastery" Obito said "anonymous; it can help you talk things out" he said and Naruto nodded.
"I-I'll check it out" Naruto said.
"And if you ever need someone to talk to, come and find me Naruto" Karin said walking up and grabbing his hand "you helped me, let me help you" Karin said and Naruto nodded.
"Thanks Karin" Naruto said; Karin then kissed his cheek and gave his hand a squeeze before backing up.
"If that is all you are dismissed" Gaara said and all 4 left the room.
Later that night
Naruto changed into his pajamas and walked over to the bed where Temari was already waiting "hell of a day huh" Naruto said and Temari nodded.
"You are doing the right thing Naruto" Temari said as he crawled into bed "I'm proud of you; you took a very big step" she said and Naruto nodded.
"I think you're right Temari" Naruto said with a small smile "I-I think this is a new beginning" he said; Temari smiled and leaned over to kiss him.
"And I'll be there every step of the way" Temari said grabbing his hand "now let's go to bed" Temari said and Naruto nodded.
"Ok" Naruto said as he turned off the lights and laid down with Temari putting her head on his chest "goodnight Temari" he said softly closing his eyes.
"Goodnight Naruto" Temari said as she closed her eyes.
Both blondes fell asleep holding each other as the world around them faded away.
Outside Konoha: Root secret base
A boy no older than 10 was standing in the middle of arena covered head to toe in blood; all around him were the dead bodies of 2 other children of different ages butchered by blades and jutsu.
Danzo looked on impressed "looks like we have another candidate" Danzo said "weed out the weak and keep only the strongest; survival of the fittest" he said as turned to his side. "Looks like your strategy paid off" Danzo said.
Shikamaru wearing his root uniform looked on with a stone-cold expression "we have 1,500 to start with; by the end we will have around 500 left" Shikamaru said coldly "with proper training and conditioning they will be good first-generation soldiers" he said and Danzo looked at him.
"First generation" Danzo said questioningly and Shikamaru nodded.
"One we trained enough we should send them out to countries like Kumo and Iwa" Shikamaru said "these are civilians; if we gain children with bloodlines and shinobi lineages, they will be more effective" he said and Danzo nodded.
"Very well; get to it then" Danzo said walking away; Shikamaru looked on into the arena as the surviving candidate was escorted out and another 3 were brought in.
"This is the new beginning" Shikamaru said as he observed the match that was about to begin "candidates begin the match" he shouted as the 3 children down below began to slaughter each other.
Ok another chapter done; I hope you all enjoy it. I speak from experience when I say that I the military breaks downs are no joke; when we are on deployment if a dude start going bat shit, we keep him in the rear. He does KP washing dishes, or fixing guns, sweeping floors, anything really to keep him from offing himself. Mental health is no joke guys; so, if you ever feel overwhelmed or like your about to snap, just stop and find some help. I already had several of my fellow servicemen off themselves because they felt hopeless; find help, suicide is not the way.
