Sabaku no Kitsune: Chapter 15
Suna: 1 and a half years after the Kusa mission (1 year before the start of Shippuden)
Temari was sleeping soundly as the light from the window entered the bedroom; the light hit her face and she stirred awake.
"Hmmm… damn sun" Temari said as she leaned up her hair hanging loose now in her signature ponytails; Temari looked down at her boyfriend/pillow Naruto who was still sleeping. Naruto has grown over the past year and a half; he was now even in height with Temari and got more lean muscle on his body.
Naruto's hair was longer as he now had a pony tail running to his shoulder blades although Temari insisted he trimmed his top and sides to keep himself looking nice; but still to Temari he was still the boy she fell in love with. Temari leaned over and kissed Naruto on the cheek waking him up.
"Morning Naru" Temari said using her pet's name for Naruto.
"Morning Mari" Naruto said with a smile "what time is it" he asked; Temari looked at the clock on the night stand.
"8am" Temari said as she got out of bed "lets eat some breakfast, catch up with the others and get to the Kazekage office by noon to see what Gaara wants" she said as she got out of bed. Temari was wearing a purple tank top and boxers with little cartoon frogs on them.
"And you are wearing my favorite pair of boxers" Naruto said with a chuckle and Temari smirked.
"Hey they are pretty comfy" Temari said doing a stretch "now get your ass out of bed" Temari said and Naruto groaned.
"Yes mam" Naruto said as he got out wearing a white T shirt and boxers with hearts on them.
"I'm wearing those next" Temari said and Naruto looked at her with a mock hurt expression.
"You demon; trying to wear all my boxers" Naruto said with a chuckle and Temari rolled her eyes.
"You're a dork" Temari said as she walked to the bathroom; Naruto followed he with his eyes as he checked out her ass.
'Lookin' like a double wide surprise, goddamn…' Naruto thought with a chuckle as he put on his cloths.
Kazekage office: later on, in the day
Gaara was sitting behind his desk as he looked on at team Obito and Temari; Naruto was currently standing in between Temari and Kurumi.
Naruto was wearing a black cargo pants, blue shinobi sandals and a dark orange jacket with a white shirt underneath; on both his sides were holsters for his small fans and on his back was a medium sized fan about one third the size of Temari's. Naruto also had hood and mask sewn into his jacket which had seals in them for whenever Naruto puts it up it won't get blown or pulled down without him deactivating the seals.
Naruto looked over to Kurumi and saw her; Kurumi has grown up to be quite a beauty as her appearance has changed. Her long hair was now down to her waist and flowed freely; she wore tan shorts going to her mid-thighs with bandages wrapping her legs. She wore a black shirt with fishnet armor underneath and a tan vest covering it; anything this is that she has become more well-endowed much to Karin's and Temari's ire as Kurumi with her pretty face and great figure has been turning heads in Suna.
Karin's outfit looked pretty standard consisting of black shorts, a light purple top and calf high shinobi sandals (her canon outfit).
"I'm glad you all came to see me" Gaara said "as you know the chunin exams are starting up soon and I wish to enter Suna in by sending a team to represent us; and so far, I have chosen your team Obito to be the one" Gaara said and Obito smiled.
"Really this is amazing" Obito said with a smile "oh man I remember my first chunin exam… I got my ass kicked by Guy, and the second time… I got my ass kicked by Kakashi" he said with nostalgia making everyone sweat drop.
"Wait I'm already a chunin" Naruto said speaking up "remember; you gave me the rank when I joined the village" Naruto said confused.
"No… Natsu was a chunin and he was killed" Gaara said making Naruto's eyes widen "Menma is a genin… remember" Gaara said and Naruto slapped his forehead.
"Crap; so, I'm a ringer then" Naruto said and Gaara nodded "well it's not terrible; I made it to the finals once so I can do it again" Naruto said.
"So where are the exams being held" Kurumi said excited "Kumo? Iwa? No wait… Taki" she asked and Gaara shook his head.
"No Kiri" Gaara said making Kurumi excited as she loved traveling around for missions and seeing new villages "Kiri is now back on it's feet and volunteered to host the exams" Gaara said. "However, I must go with Temari and Kankuro to the land of Iron in order to vote on where it's being held but I expect it to go to Kiri" Gaara said and Naruto perked up.
"Oh, cool Kiri; hey maybe I can see Mei again and hang out" Naruto said.
"Ahem" Temari coughed gaining Naruto's attention.
"As friends don't worry" Naruto said making Temari huff.
"She's just jealous Naruto" Karin said sensing Temari's emotions "but Temari what do you have to be jealous about; what does she have that you don't" she said. Temari looked at her.
"Long silky hair, big tits, nice face, a supermodel figure and she's the Mizukage" Temari said crossing her arms; Naruto then wrapped his arms around Temari and hugged her.
"Oh, come on Temari don't be jealous; I love you no matter what" Naruto said making Temari's jealousy go away "I mean you're really hot too; besides looks aren't that big of a deal for me, I'm not shallow" Naruto said.
*Meanwhile in an alternate universe: following the Sasuke retrieval mission
"Damn it let me through" Naruto said pushing aside a nurse out of the way while limping.
"Naruto, stop she doesn't want you to see her" Ino shouted following him to the hospital room.
"Yeah, she said that- "Sakura began but Naruto brushed them off.
"I don't care I have to see if she's alright" Naruto said as he grabbed, he door and slammed it open "Chomi are you ok" Naruto said before he went wide eyed.
"No don't look at me" Chomi said wearing her hospital gown; Chomi had her long light brown spikey hair running down her back and tears running down her cheeks going over the swirl marks on them "I don't want you to see me like this" she sobbed out as she tried to hide her body.
Her chubby body was now gone replaced with a figure that any girl her age would wish she could have "the doctors said the chakra pills affected my body; I-I-I will never look the way I used to ever again" she cried out.
Naruto however went up and hugged her from behind "I don't care what you look like" Naruto said holding her "I love you no matter what; we can work through this; you don't have to go at it alone" Naruto said.
Chomi turned around and hugged "oh Naruto" she sobbed as Naruto stoked her back to comfort her.
"Wait is she sad she's not fat anymore" Sakura whispered "as is Naruto seeing her skinny now as a bad thing or not" she asked and Ino shrugged.
"No clue… but who cares they look pretty cute" Ino said "I mean they looked cute before but still" Ino said as they both looked at the couple.
(If your wondering; yes it's a gender swap Choji. Man, I love doing these little skits; so creatively liberating)
*Back to the fic
"We leave tomorrow to the meeting" Gaara said getting up "Temari pack up and be ready to leave" he said and Temari nodded.
"Ok then" Temari said.
"I'll help you out babe" Naruto said as he and the other were dismissed by Gaara and walked out.
Gaara looked out the window in wonder 'I hope these exams will go better than last time' he thought.
4 days later: Land of Iron
"Holy hell it's cold out there" Kankuro said as he Gaara and Temari all entered the castle where the meeting was taking place "I've never seen snow before and I have to say it sucks ass" Kankuro said as he wiped the snow off his body.
"It sure isn't like Suna that's for sure" Temari said as she took off her coat.
"My sand kept me warm" Gaara said as a layer of sand fell of him and mixed back into his gourd; Gaara, Temari and Kankuro all walked in to the castle.
As they walked in they were greeted by a servant "Lord Kazekage; we've been expecting you" he said boxing to the 3 sand siblings "please follow me; the meeting is going to start in a few moments" he said and they all nodded.
Gaara, Temari and Kankuro followed the servant to the chamber holding the meeting; upon reaching the room Gaara looked around and saw the Kage's from all great Nations sitting at their tables with their advisors as well as leaders of smaller villages and theirs.
"I apologize for our tardiness" Gaara said addressing the room "a blizzard appeared on our route and we had to take shelter for a night" he said.
"Understandable lord Kazekage" Mifune said sitting at the head of the room facing the other leaders "you and your siblings are not used to the hash weather of Iron country; it could be treacherous" he said. "Now please be seated so we may begin" Mifune said and Gaara nodded; Gaara moved to sit at the desk which was in between Tsunade, Shizune and Ibiki representing Konoha and Princess Koyuki and 2 advisors representing Spring country.
"Lady Tsunade, Lady Koyuki" Gaara said greeting the 2 women.
"Gaara so glad to see you" Tsunade said "I hope everything is going well in Suna" Tsunade said and Gaara nodded.
"Yes, it is; how about Konoha" Gaara asked and Tsunade frowned.
"Last week was the anniversary of Naruto's death" Tsunade said and Gaara frowned "I swear the sentiment is getting worse with each passing year" she said.
"My offer is still open Lady Tsunade" Koyuki said speaking up "I'll gladly give you a home in Spring country to escape that place; no offence but just saying Konoha leaves a bad taste in my mouth" she said and Tsunade nodded not arguing.
Koyuki upon hearing of Naruto's death was furious at Konoha; she declined to resign the trade deals to Konoha and has even placed embargos to keep Konoha from getting technology from Spring country.
"I'll keep it in mind" Tsunade said "but you should look into trade with Suna here" Tsunade said making Gaara raise an eyebrow. "After all, Gaara here defended Naruto until they were kicked out by bureaucratic bullshit" she said and Koyuki nodded and looked over to Gaara.
"Lord Gaara after this meeting do you mind if I return with you and your group to Suna" Koyuki asked "any ally of Naruto is an ally of mine; Kami bless his heart" Koyuki said clutching her chest. Gaara getting at what Tsunade was trying to do nodded.
"I believe that is doable" Gaara said "we will escort you and your advisors back to Suna; and there we can discuss politics" he said and Koyuki smiled.
"Thank you, Lord Gaara," Koyuki said; just then a gavel hit "the meeting is about to start" Koyuki said.
2 hours later
Over the next 2 hours all villages discussed about the chunin exams; the vote was for either Kiri or Ame to host the exams. Nearly everyone voted for Kiri even Ame as their leader Nagato and his advisor Konan did not want to host the exams due to the constant rain and the poor infrastructure.
Konoha, Suna and the other great nations voted to enter teams with Suna entering one and Konoha entering 10, Kiri entering 7, Kumo entering 12 and Iwa entering a staggering 15 teams; several smaller countries such as Taki, Spring and Ame would send 3 teams each.
"And now for those who will handle the chunin exams" Mifune said "this year the ones setting up the challenges will be Suna, Konoha and Spring; you may name one person per one of the 3 exams" he said.
Konoha stood up with a groan "Konoha chooses… Shikamaru Nara as the proctor of the second exam" Tsunade said; as she said that out of the back of the room Shikamaru stood up and walked down the aisle to the front.
The 3 sand siblings looked on in shock at how different he looked; Shikamaru wore a black shirt and black pants with dark green flak vest. He had a red handled wakizashi on his back and a tanto on his hip; but what startled the sand trio the most was his eyes.
His eyes were cold and focused and his face showed a hardness not seen when they last saw them.
'Shikamaru… what happened to you' Temari thought as she saw her former crush walk to the front and bow.
"I Takubetsujonin Shikamaru Nara will accept this great honor" Shikamaru said without his lazy tone.
"What the hell happened to him" Kankuro whispered to Shizune.
"He, Kiba and Neji all took out a band of 300 pirates and rogue ninja's near wave country about a year ago" Shizune whispered "they did it all by themselves in a single night; Danzo and the council voted for them to be promoted" she said. "Kiba to chunin, Neji to jonin and Shikamaru to Takubetsujonin" she said and Kankuro looked on in horror.
'I can tell by the look in his eyes he's not the same guy Temari fought all those years ago' Kankuro thought.
'If the councils didn't stick up for him, I would've kicked him to the curb after the shit he pulled in the hospital' Tsunade said remembering that Sakura told her about Shikamaru going to kill Naruto while he was unconscious.
Koyuki stood up "Spring chooses Katsuragi Hojo as the proctor of the third exam" Koyuki said.
"Hi everyone" said a white-haired girl sitting the back of the room; she proceeded to form a ramp of ice and glide down to the front of the room and bowed "I'm honored to proctor the third exam; and I'll do my best" Katsuragi said in a peppy tone.
"Is she serious" Temari whispered to Koyuki "she seems a little immature and young" Temari said and Koyuki shook her head.
"She's the only A-rank ninja the land of spring has" Koyuki said making Temari go wide eyed "she used to work for my Uncle Doto as his personal 'anti-partisan' hunter; despite her being 16 she's a jonin and one of the best ninjas we have" Koyuki said as she sat down.
"Frankly she scares me" Koyuki said surprising the 3 sand siblings "if she was there and fought Naruto and his whole team… we'd all be dead; luckily she was out of country hunting down some crazy guy sacrificing people in Yuga" she said.
'Crap, are you serious' Temari thought; Gaara proceeded to stand up and speak.
"Suna chooses… Temari as the proctor of the first exam" Gaara said and Temari winced at this; Temari knew she was more cut out for this that Kankuro but this was so much worse than she thought.
Temari got up and walked down and stood next to Shikamaru "I Accept the honor of proctor for the exams" Temari said as she tried not to look at Shikamaru.
"Very well then" Mifune said as he picked up his gavel "the chunin exams will be held in Kiri 2 months from now; this meeting is adjourned" he said as he banged the gavel.
Temari began to walk away and Shikamaru spoke up "Temari wait" Shikamaru said stopping her; Temari turned around with an annoyed look.
"What" Temari said not wanting to speak.
"Look I get what happened last time we saw each other… didn't end well" Shikamaru said rubbing the back of his neck "but- it's just… I was wondering if we could put it behind us and- "Shikamaru began but Temari cut him off.
"Save it prick" Temari said "you tried to kill your friend for no good reason" Temari said sternly. "I'm going to work with you; but I won't enjoy it" Temari said "besides I have a boyfriend now; so, stay away from me" Temari said turning around.
"Temari wait" Shikamaru said reaching out to stop her; before he could a wall of ice rose out of nowhere and encased his hand a few inches away from Temari's shoulder. Temari turned around and saw an angry looking Katsuragi.
"Dude; she said no, now piss off" Katsuragi said leaking killer intent "or else you die here and we find another proctor from Konoha" she said.
"Katsuragi stand down" Koyuki shouted as everyone had their eyes looking to the front.
"Yes mam" Katsuragi said releasing Shikamaru who glared at her.
"Nara! Get your ass over here now" Tsunade shouted.
"Go to momma buddy" Katsuragi said; Shikamaru without saying another word walked off to Tsunade.
"Sorry Temari" Tsunade said to the her "I'll deal with ass later" she said as she, Shikamaru, Shizune and Ibiki all walked out.
Katsuragi then turned to Temari her anger now gone "man that guy was a prick" she said with a smile "is her like you ex or something" she asked and Temari sighed.
"Kind of" Temari said.
"Katsuragi" Koyuki said gaining her attention "change of plans; we are heading to Suna for diplomacy" she said and Katsuragi nodded.
"Sweet a desert never seen one before" Katsuragi said as she grabbed Temari's hand "lets go new buddy" she said as she pulled Temari along with a smile on her face.
'Well at least she's friendly' Temari thought.
Suna: 4 days later
Gaara, Kankuro and Temari were leading Koyuki and Katsuragi to the Sabaku mansion; they dropped off the 2 advisors off at a hotel as Koyuki was going to be staying at the mansion.
"You really didn't have to do this" Koyuki said as she walked down the road; she was no longer wearing a ceremonial Kimono as it was too hot. Now she was wearing blue jeans, a tank top and more comfortable sandals.
"Nonsense you're an esteemed guest; it's only proper" Temari said trying to suppress a giggle.
"I'm stoked; I can't wait to see a mansion" Katsuragi said "oh is there a gym so I can pump iron" she said flexing her arm; Katsuragi was now wearing black sandals, short shorts and a tank top that showed off her DD 'assets'.
"No but there is a gym not far; that's where me and my boyfriend work out" Temari said; on the inside Temari was thinking other thoughts 'how are her tit so big; she's shorter than me by like 6 inches' she thought.
As they approached the house Gaara unlocked the door "welcome to out home" Gaara said inviting both Koyuki and Katsuragi in.
"Wow this looks nice" Koyuki said rubbing a pilar "such fine granite" she said making Kankuro chuckle.
"Let me show you something really impressive" Kankuro said leading Koyuki to the living room.
"And what would that be" Koyuki asked as she entered the room; as she heard foot steps and turned and nearly fainted at who she saw.
"Hey… Koyuki" Naruto said shyly appearing around the corner to a shocked Koyuki "Gaara and them told me you were coming; you look great as always" he said.
Koyuki in a blur of speed rushed over and hugged Naruto and began to cry "I thought you died" Koyuki sobbed out "we held a funeral in your honor in my country" she choked out. Koyuki pulled away and looked Naruto in the face with a smile; Koyuki then proceeded to start slapping Naruto who put up his hands to defend himself. "You jerk! How come you never contacted me! I could've helped you" she shouted.
"I'm sorry" Naruto said trying to avoid the angry princess.
"Lady Koyuki hold up" Katsuragi said restraining her "so this is 'Naruto'; the guy who died in Konoha" she said to Temari who nodded.
"How are you alive; what happened" Koyuki asked; Naruto moved over to the couch.
"Sit down" Naruto said "it's a long story" Naruto said.
1 hour later
Naruto proceeded to tell Koyuki everything; him being rescued by Gaara, Temari and Kankuro, the mission to Kiri and the Konoha ninja kidnapping kids, to him living under a false identity to stay off Konoha's radar.
Koyuki sat there speechless while Katsuragi looked on in disbelief "damn you got fucked over" Katsuragi said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, it's been rough" Naruto said rubbing his neck "but it's not all bad" Naruto said as Temari came over and sat on his lap. "I got a new life, a great girl and a family now" Naruto said "what more can a man ask for" he said and Koyuki smiled.
"I'm glad to hear that you are safe Naruto" Koyuki said "and now I see Tsunade was right about Konoha; they can't be trusted" she said.
"So, Naruto" Katsuragi said gaining his attention "you've been training a lot and are pretty powerful right" she said and Naruto nodded.
"Uh… yeah why" Naruto asked and Katsuragi smirked.
"What do you say about a friendly spar" Katsuragi said gaining everyone's attention "I wanna see what the hero of Spring country is made of" she said. Naruto looked at her and smiled.
"You're on" Naruto said.
