Sabaku no Kitsune: Chapter 19
With Naruto, Karin and Kurumi
Naruto and his team were standing at their gate waiting for the signal to enter the arena; Naruto was inspecting his fans, while Karin was cleaning her glasses and Kurumi was inspecting her kunai. A they waited Temari walked up surprising them all.
"Hey babe; what are you doing here" Naruto asked and Temari spoke.
"I'm just here to wish you all good luck" Temari said "and watch out for those Konoha teams; I know you are all stronger than most but remember there is no shame in surrendering" she said. Naruto walked up and hugged her.
"Don't worry we'll be fine" Naruto said; Temari hesitated but hugged him back after a few seconds she let go "I love you" Naruto said.
"Love you too" Temari said smiling; she began to walk away and Kurumi spoke up.
"We got this Naruto; lets show those Konoha dick heads we are the best team here" Kurumi said and Naruto nodded.
"For sure; you have your contacts on right" Naruto said and Kurumi nodded.
"Yep; all clandestine and shit" Kurumi said "that's the word I'm lookin' for right" Kurumi asked Karin who nodded; Kurumi was wearing special-colored contacts that match her regular eye color. This way she could activate her sharingan without being noticed by anyone from Konoha.
Just then Shikmaru's voice came onto the loud speaker "group 1; get ready for the commencement of the second stage of the chunin exams" he said and Naruto and his team got ready.
"Ok girls; lets kick some ass" Naruto said raising up his hands to high five them.
"Fuck yeah" Kurumi said high-fiving Naruto.
"Lets rock" Karin said high fiving as well.
With 'Tobi'
"Go team Tobi go" Obito shouted sitting in a chair with the other jounin sensei "put Tobi down for 10,000 Ryo for my baby girl and her team" he said and the book keeper nodded.
"Gotcha" the book keeper said "team Tobi; 15 to 1 odds" he said writing down on his chalk board.
Kakashi seeing this shrugged "hey put me down for the same thing" Kakashi said and the book keeper nodded 'Kakashi Hatake, betting against 2 Konoha teams' he thought with a eye smile. Suddenly he had a arm wrapped around him and he saw it was Tobi.
"Thanks buddy" Obito said "2 beers; one for me and one for my new buddy" he said with a cheer. 'I always dreamed about having a beer with you Kakashi' Obito thought smiling from behind his mask.
With Shikamaru
Shikamaru was in the control center with his second in command and personal assistant; she was a girl around Shikamaru's age with a heart shaped face, thin lips, brown eyes and auburn hair that was shaved on the sides but long on top which she slicked back to where it reached the nape of her neck.
"Now is the time for Root to shine" Shikamaru said as he looked at the monitor "Kama; begin the exam" he said to her.
"Yes, lord Shikamaru" Kama said as she walked over to the control panel and pressed a button.
With Naruto, Karin and Kurumi
A buzzer sounded and the gates to the arena opened up "lets go" Naruto shouted as he and his team rushed in. The arena they were in was a rocky area with very little vegetation and tall canyons.
"We need to find an area suitable to us" Karin said "preferably a flat area where you both can use your wind and fire jutsu's to full effect" she said and both Naruto and Kurumi nodded.
"Alright let's go and find it then" Naruto said as they continued ahead.
With Alpha, Beta and Gamma
Alpha, Beta and Gamma have running through the arena for about 15 minutes looking for their fellow root team; as they were running, they heard a distinct bird call which Alpha recognized. Alpha responded and the next second 3 figures appeared and Alpha and his team stopped.
"Alpha" Delta said walking up.
"Delta; about time" Alpha said annoyed "we have a mission to complete; let's get going" he said and Delta nodded. "You are all under my command now; we will proceed to eliminate both foreign teams" Alpha said "and once we do me and Delta will fight in order to decide which of out teams will forfeit" he said and they all nodded.
"Very well then" Delta said.
"Let's hurry and find them" Beta said "I wish to end this as soon as possible" he said.
"Ok let's go" Alpha said as he led the combined group through the arena.
With Kakashi and Tobi
"What the hell" "They're teaming up" "this is bullshit"; in the jounin lounge everyone was looking at the monitor complaining about how both Konoha teams teamed up and were going after the Suna and the Kiri team.
Kakashi and Tobi however stayed silent as they had a bad feeling about the whole thing.
With the Kiri team
The Kiri team consisting of 3 boys were running through the area looking for the enemy teams; as of right now there were running across a lake which was perfect for them as water jutsu was their specialty. As they ran across the water the leader of the group named Kodaka looked back and spoke.
"Ok boys our time to shine; lets win this thing" Kodaka said "for Kiri" he said and his team nodded; as they ran across the water, they saw 3 figures ahead of them.
The kiri ninjas recognized them one of the Konoha teams; the Kiri ninja and Konoha ninjas all proceeded to pull out their swords and got ready for battle. One of the Konoha ninja went through hand signs.
'Fire Style: Dragon fire technique' Beta launched a large stream of fire towards the kiri ninja; the 3 ninja all separated as the fire technique hit the water creating a giant cloud of steam. The 3-root ninja halted as they looked on at the cloud of steam; the next second there were 2 separate clangs of steel
The Kodaka appeared out of the steam locking blades with alpha, a second kiri ninja appeared locking blades with Gamma and Delta jumped out by himself. Kodaka kicked Alpha away and gained some distance; he looked and saw his one of teammates fighting with a girl.
Kodaka looked over and saw his other teammate dead in the water with his throat slit open "you bastards; you didn't have to kill him" he shouted; Delta looked over at him and spoke.
"I didn't… but I wanted too" Delta said in an even tone that made the Kodaka' blood boil; before he could do anything, Alpha launched his attack and the leader of the kiri team fell back as he readied his defense.
Gamma using her tanto was currently in a fast pace kenjutsu battle with the other surviving Kiri ninja; both were dashing at each other both trying to land a crippling or killing blow. Gamma slashed at the kiri ninja who ducked back in order to avoid being hit; as he did so Gamma used a dirty trick and kicked water into his face.
"Gah, you bitch" he shouted as he wiped his face; as he did so he saw Gamma going in for a stab. The kiri ninja side stepped and performed an upward slash; the slash neared Gamma's neck about to sever her head from her body. However, the blade passed through her 'what' he thought as he saw Gamma fade away 'genjutsu' he thought; just then a blade pierced through the back of his neck making blood gush out of his neck.
"Genjutsu; so useful when used properly" Gamma said as she pulled her blade out and left the kiri ninja to bleed out in the water.
"Goddamn it" The leader of the Kiri ninja shouted as he blocked another strike from Alpha; he proceeded to jump back taking out a smoke bomb and throwing it onto the water.
Alpha got ready for an attack but it never came; as the smoke cleared, he saw that the Kodaka was gone "he escaped" alpha said "we'll deal with him later; now let's look for the Suna team" he said to the others who nodded.
Alpha began to lead the others off to go and find the Suna team leaving behind the bodies of 2 Kiri ninja.
With Naruto, Karin and Kurumi
"This is perfect" Naruto said as he and his teammates stood in the middle of a wide-open canyon with 30-foot-high cliffs; the only other thing inside the canyon was a river on the far side "I can totally use my wind jutsu here" he said.
"We better get ready" Kurumi said "we don't know who is coming first; we should- "she began until she heard shouting.
"Hey" came the voice of a boy; everyone turned and saw a lone Kiri shinobi running towards them with his arms held above his head "hey" he shouted again. Karin seeing this summoned one of her chakra chains.
"Hold it" Karin said as she got ready for an attack "give up now and tell your teammates to come out" she said; the Kiri ninja stopped with his hands above his head.
"My teammates are dead; those Konoha ninja killed them" he said shocking Naruto and his team "both Konoha teams are working together; they killed my team for sport, and they're coming for you guys, they're right on my ass and not stopping for shit" he said.
Naruto walked forward "why are you telling us this; you could've just surrendered and left" he said' the Kiri ninja lowered his hands and scowled.
"I want your help to kill those sons of bitches" Kodaka said.
"How touching; Suna and Kiri working together" came the voice of Delta; Naruto, Karin, Kurumi and Kodaka all got together and formed a square formation. Just then all 6-root ninja surrounded the group, swords and tanto's drawn and ready to fight "looks like we might be able to finish this sooner than we thought" he said.
Alpha analyzed the group and spoke "Gamma, you take on the black-haired girl" alpha said and she nodded "Zeta, you take on the red haired one" he said and she nodded. "Beta; you and me will take on the boy in the orange jacket" Alpha said and Beta nodded "Delta and Epsilon finish off the Kiri ninja" he said and Delta nodded.
"I believe a team reunion will be wonderful for him" Delta said and the Kiri ninja scowled.
Naruto growing angry took out his 2 small fans "ok everyone" Naruto said "lets kick their fucking teeth in" he said.
Naruto vs Alpha and Beta
Naruto charged at Alpha and Beta with both of his fans at the ready; Naruto brough back his fans and fired 2 blades of wind at both root ninja's. Both Alpha and Beta dodged out of the way in order to avoid being hit; Naruto decided to go after Beta first putting away his fans and brought out his gauntlet blade.
Beta seeing this got his ninjato ready and charged at Naruto; Beta brought up his ninjato to prepare for an overhead slice. Beta brought down the sword onto Naruto; Naruto brought up his arm and blocked the attack with his gauntlet. Naruto knocked the sword to the side and brought up his leg and kicked Beta in the ribs; Beta was knocked to the side and skidded on the ground a few feet.
Naruto immediately turned around to focus on Alpha which was the correct move as Alpha was running towards him; Alpha swung his sword at Naruto who ducked and counter attacked with a stab. Alpha dodged to the side and punched Naruto in the face before bringing his sword down; Naruto rolled away but not before gaining a cut along his right shoulder blade.
Naruto rolled and jumped up into a stance and saw both Alpha and Beta charging towards him 'damn it; these guys are tough; this isn't going to be easy' Naruto thought.
Kurumi vs Gamma
Kurumi and the kunoichi known as Gamma were clashing blades both trying to land a killing blow; Gamma sent a fast stab towards Kurumi hoping to end the fight. However unknown to everyone but her teammates Kurumi had activated her sharingan and was tracking every attack that Gamma was sending her way; Kurumi side stepped the attack and slashed Gamma's hand making her drop the weapon.
'How' Gamma thought as she began dodging Kurumi's kunai 'it's like she can see my moved before I can make contact' she thought; Kurumi slashed at Gamma but Gamma caught her hand. Gamma proceeded to disarm Kurumi knocking the kunai out of her hand; Kurumi undeterred threw a punch at Gamma.
Gamma brought up her arm to block the punch countering with a punch of her own; Kurumi was slugged across the face making her spit up blood. Before Gamma could even react, Kurumi grabbed the hand just hit her and pulled Gamma towards her; Kurumi proceeded to pull Gamma towards the ground.
Kurumi and Gamma rolled on the ground until Kurumi got on top of her; Kurumi drove her fist into Gamma's face and then repeated again. Kurumi tried to punch Gamma but Gamma grabbed onto her arm; Gamma pulled the arm the opposite way to that Kurumi's back was now even with Gamma's chest.
Gamma then reached up and wrapped her other arm around Kurumi's neck and began to choke her; Kurumi began to gag as Gamma choked her. Kurumi in a move of desperation brought her head forward and then brought it back; Kurumi drove the back of her head into Gamma's nose breaking it.
Gamma screamed in pain and let go giving Kurumi the opportunity to gain some distance; Kurumi grabbed onto her throat as she coughed "you *cough, cough* bitch" Kurumi wheezed as she got to her feet.
Gamma also got up grabbing her nose; Gamma then snapped her nose back into place and blew out the blood onto the ground. Gamma looked at Kurumi with a scowl on her face "I'm going to enjoy killing you" Gamma said.
"Bring it bitch" Kurumi shouted as she got into her taijutsu stance.
Karin vs Zeta
Karin was using her chakra chains to land a blow on Zeta who was avoiding her chains; Zeta was running at a faster speed than anyone she has seen before. 'Damn it; she's too fast' Karin thought as she kept trying to land a hit 'she must be a speed specialist; my chains are too slow and I can't aim ahead of her' she thought.
Zeta using her incredible speed ducked and slid under a chain that Karin sent towards her; Zeta skid and then proceeded to run at Karin. Zeta had her sword down at in a low position going to go for a rising slash; Karin seeing this decided to do a hail marry to save her life.
Zeta dragged the sword across Karin's belly cutting her shirt and knocking the wind out of her; when Zeta passed and looked back, she was surprised as she saw no blood on the ground. Karin turned around and Zeta saw glowing chains wrapped around her belly acting as improvised armor.
'Never seen a technique like this before' Zeta thought 'I should cripple her; we can then deliver her to lord Danzo' she thought. Zeta got back into a stance and got ready to fight Karin again.
Karin was coughing as she held her ribs 'damn that hurt' Karin thought as she stood up 'I think that cracked one of my ribs' she thought. 'But I can't stop now' Karin thought as she summoned a second chakra chain "this isn't over" Karin said.
"Agreed" Zeta said as she charged in once more.
Kodaka vs Delta and Epsilon
Kodaka was fighting both Delta and Epsilon and was making decent progress; while Delta and Epsilon knew how to use a sword, they were not experts. However, Kodaka has been training with a sword from as early as he could remember; he was currently dancing circles around both Konoha ninja.
Kodaka blocked a slash from delta and parried the sword away from him; Kodaka proceeded to back hand Delta across the face sending him to the ground. Kodaka immediately turned and locked blades with Epsilon; Kodaka began to walk backwards as they both clashed blades.
Epsilon seeing this thought he was winning and kept on pushing with the attacks; however, this turned out to be a mistake as Kodaka blocked another strike. Kodaka and Epsilon locked blades and Kodaka began his counter attack; Kodaka brought both blades down and elbowed Epsilon across the face.
Kodaka then brought up his blade and sliced through Epsilon's head decapitating him with a single strike; Kodaka looked over and saw Delta get up completely unconcerned by what just happened.
"Huh… Epsilon; I told him not to get to cocky" Delta said and Kodaka growled.
"You bastard; you don't even care about your comrade" Kodaka said and Delta shrugged.
"Plenty more where he came from" Delta said as he got back into his stance "shall we continue" he said.
"Fuck you" Kodaka said as he also got back into a stance.
With Naruto
Naruto jumped away from Alpha and Beta putting away his blade and taking out his medium fan; Naruto opened his fan and began to charge his chakra "Wind Sickle Jutsu" Naruto shouted. Naruto swung his fan and launched his wind jutsu at the 2 Konoha ninja.
Alpha seeing this went through hand signs 'Earth Style: Mud wall' Alpha slammed his hands to the ground; a wall of earth rose up and protected him from the attack. However, Alpha looked over to Beta not realizing that he did not have a way to protect himself from the jutsu.
Beta was hit by the jutsu and was sent flying across the clearing to the walls of the canyon; Beta hit the canyon wall full force and smacked the back of his head on the canyon wall. Beta fell to the ground leaving a blood stain on the wall; Beta hit the ground face first allowing everyone to see the back of his head caved in and bleeding.
'Depressed skull fracture; he's done for' Alpha thought.
"Hey dude; there's no need for you to die, just give up and I'll let you leave the arena" Naruto shouted; Alpha walked out from behind the mud wall and looked at Naruto.
"Never" Alpha said "I will never surrender to you; Suna scum" he said; Alpha charged at Naruto readying his sword. Alpha swung his sword at Naruto attempting to slash him across the throat; Naruto closed his fan and used the blunt side in order to stop the sword. The sword clanged and bounced off the side of the fan leaving only a small scratch in the pain; Naruto's fan was made out of steel so it wouldn't break so easily.
Naruto swung his fan at Alpha who put his sword in front of him in order to block the fan; the fan hit the Sword snapping it in half and hitting Alpha on his left collar bone. "Gah" Alpha shouted in pain as the fan contacted his collar bone; Alpha regaining his composure slashed at Naruto cutting him on the arm.
Naruto jumped back and landed a few feet away; Naruto dropped his fan and saw a large cut on his forearm. Naruto's arm hung loosely on his side 'damn it; I can't feel my arm' Naruto thought; Naruto brought out his blade once more and got ready to fight once more.
Alpha using his broken sword got back into his stance showing that the fight was far from over.
With Kurumi
Kurumi threw a punch at Gamma who blocked and countered with a kick; Kurumi blocked the kick and spun around sending a spinning kick into Gamma's jaw. The kick collided and Gamma spun around before falling to a knee; Kurumi ran up and grabbed her from behind putting her in a choke hold; Kurumi began to choke Gamma for a few seconds until Gamma retaliated.
Gamma grabbed Kurumi and flipped her over her to the ground in front of her; Gamma was about to punch Kurumi but Kurumi sent a kick straight into Gamma's face. Gamma stumbled back and Kurumi got up and charged at her; Kurumi through a punch at Gamma who blocked the attack. Kurumi followed up with a kick and a elbow which Gamma blocked; however unseen by Gamma Kurumi's sharingan flashed from behind her contacts.
Gamma decided to retaliate and threw a punch with her right hand; as the fist approached Kurumi's face she smirked as she knew the punch was going to land. However, the punch phased through Kurumi and Gamma went wide eyed 'genjutsu; when did she do it' she thought.
Kurumi smirked as Gamma left herself wide open; Kurumi opened her hand and proceeded knife hand Gamma in the throat. Gamma's throat was crushed and Gamma grabbed her throat as she struggled for air; Kurumi not stopping swept Gamma's feet from under her sending her to the ground. Kurumi lifted her leg and proceeded to stomp on Gamma's abdomen knocking what little air was left inside her.
Gamma struggled for a few minutes as she began to turn blue; after a few seconds Gamma died from lack of oxygen. Kurumi decided to insult her once more and spat on her corpse.
"Muderin' bitch" Kurumi said breathing heavily; Kurumi caught her breath and looked over and saw 3 battles going on 'I should go and help them' she thought as she ran off.
With Karin
Karin was still trying to land a blow on Zeta who was using her superior speed in order to avoid Kain's chains; Karin sent her chains towards Zeta and Zeta jumped out of the way doing a roll and rushing towards Karin.
Karin seeing this jumped out of the way just in time as Zeta slashed at her; Zeta's sword cut Karin's shirt but luckily didn't draw blood. Karin sent her chains at Zeta as she passed her; when she did Karin was able to land a glancing blow on Zeta.
Karin seeing this got and idea and recalled her chains to her and got into a defensive stance.
Zeta got into a stance as she looked at Karin 'she got me; but she's still slow' Zeta thought as she glared at Karin 'I should end this now' she thought as she got into a low stance. Zeta began to charge her sword with wind chakra and sent chakra to her feet; Zeta then ran towards Karin at max speed with the intention of slicing her head off. Karin sent one of her chains towards Zeta; Zeta slid under the chain and continued to run towards Karin.
However, Zeta did not realize that when she slid under the chain Karin put the other chain in front of her at neck level; Zeta ran into the chain and Karin wrapped the chain around her neck. Karin called the chain back to her dragging Zeta with it; Karin raised up her leg and when Zeta was in range threw a kick.
Karin kicked Zeta in the head using the momentum to increase her power; Zeta's neck snapped when Karin's foot contacted her head. Karin canceled her chain and let Zeta's body fall to the floor; Karin then fell to a knee holding her ribs.
"Damn my ribs" Karin thought as she popped open her shirt and looked down at her ribs seeing her right side was purple "oh man" Karin thought. Karin began to use the basic medical ninjutsu she knew and began to heal her ribs.
With Kodaka
Kodaka was fighting Delta in a kenjutsu battle as both boys were trying to gain the upper hand; Delta slashed at Kodaka who blocked the sword and spun around slashing at Delta. Kodaka slashed Delta across his bicep and made him jump away in order to gain some distance; Delta put away his sword and went through hand signs.
"Fire Style: Fire Dragon bullet" Delta fired a stream of fire in the shape of a dragon at Kodaka; Kodaka seeing this jumped away and saw the river at the other side of the canyon. Kodaka ran over and began to go through hand signs.
'Water Style: Water Dragon jutsu' Kodaka created a dragon made of water and sent it towards Delta's fire dragon; both jutsu's collided and created a giant cloud of steam. Kodaka into a stance waiting for Delta to come out of the steam and he wasn't let down; Kodaka saw Delta run out with his blade ready to strike.
Kodaka slashed at Delta but his sword went through 'a clone' Kodaka thought; Kodaka was then stabbed through the back a sword coming out through his chest. Kodaka coughed and he heard a chuckle behind him.
"You should always watch your back" Delta said mocking him "now then- "Delta began until he coughed up blood; Delta fell to the ground and so did Kodaka. Kodaka fell to the ground and saw Delta dead on the ground with 3 kunai in his back.
"Hold on" came a voice; Kodaka looked over and saw the black-haired Suna Kunoichi running over "hold on" she said again as she skidded next to Kodaka.
"Oh, shit oh shit" Kurumi said as she put her hands on Kodaka's chest in order to stop the bleeding "you're gonna be fine; you're gonna be fine" Kurumi said even though both her and Kodaka knew he was going to die.
"M-my sword" Kodaka said "t-take my sword" Kodaka said and Kurumi nodded. "What's your name" Kodaka said and Kurumi spoke.
"Kurumi" she said and Kodaka smiled.
"Kurumi eh; I'm Kodaka" Kodaka said "d-don't forget me" he said weakly; Kodaka then fell still his eyes wide and vacant. Kurumi tried to feel for a pulse; after a few seconds Kurumi pulled her hand away as she knew he died. Kurumi shed a single tear as she closed Kodaka's eyes.
Kurumi reached over and grabbed his sword off the ground and sheath off his body 'Kodaka; I'm sorry' she thought.
With Naruto
Naruto and Alpha were still fighting as both were trying to end the fight as quickly as possible due to their injuries; Naruto slashed at alpha with his gauntlet blade and Alpha dodged. Alpha attempted to stab Naruto with his broken sword but Naruto side stepped and avoided the attack.
Naruto jumped back and retracted his blade before reaching down and grabbing his fan; Naruto opened his hand and launched several wind blades towards Alpha. Alpha seeing this dodged side to side as the wind blades came towards him; Alpha went through hand signs and slammed his hands onto the ground.
"Earth Style: Earth spikes" Alpha shouted; earth spikes came out of the ground and made their way towards Naruto. Naruto seeing the earth spikes coming towards him ran and went to the wall of the canyon; Naruto ran up the wall of the canyon avoiding the earth spikes.
Naruto began to run along the wall and used his fan to launch more wind blades towards Alpha; Alpha began to dodge the wind blades running from side to side. As he did so he suddenly had to duck as a chakra chain went over his head; Alpha jumped back and saw Karin running towards him with her chakra chains.
Alpha took out some shuriken and threw them at Karin who just swatted them away; Alpha then heard someone behind him and turned around only to be slashed across the back.
Kurumi slashed Alpha across the back with Kodaka's katana causing him to scream in pain; Alpha spun around and kicked Kurumi in the face knocking her to the ground. Alpha raised up his sword to kill Kurumi but was stopped when he was hit by a wind jutsu from Naruto sending him flying across the ground.
Naruto rushed towards Alpha bringing out his blade; Alpha was getting back up and the last thing he saw was Naruto's blade. Naruto stabbed Alpha through the eye socket and out the back of his skull killing him instantly; Naruto huffing pulled out his blade as his body fell to the ground.
Naruto, Karin and Kurumi were now the only one's in the scared and bloody arena.
Just then a voice came over the intercom which Naruto recognized as Shikamaru "Winners of the first round of the second phase; Team Tobi" he said his voice even and with little concern.
"Winners" Kurumi said "yeah… we won alright" she said sarcastically.
"At least we didn't die" Karin said and Naruto walked up with a scowl hidden behind his mask and hood as only his eyes showed.
"Still; this shouldn't have happened" Naruto said as he looked around.
With Temari, Katsu and Mei
Temari and Katsu were stunned as they looked at the monitor "this, this… holy shit" Temari said "this is too much" she said.
"Those Konoha ninja went too far" Katsu said "Mei what- "she began as both she and Temari turned around; only to see a fuming Mei with murder in her eyes.
"Temari, Katsuragi" Mei said with barely controlled anger "the exams are temporarily suspended; get me that Nara and send a message to the hokage" Mei said as both girls nodded. "Casualties may be expected but not required" Mei said "Konoha is going to answer for this" she growled out.
