Sabaku no Kitsune: Chapter 26
Chunin exam arena: With Naruto (Menma), Sakura and Hinata
Naruto, Sakura and Hinata were looking at the 2 members of the Kiri team with the Iwa substitute; Naruto was taking slow and calming breaths as he looked at the 3 opponents across the arena of water and narrow pathways.
'Ok Naruto; relax, remember the plan' Naruto thought as he got ready to strike.
"Ok ladies and gentlemen" Katsu's voice boomed overhead "Let the finals of the Kiri chunin exams… BEGIN" she said as a bang went of signaling the start of the battle.
Naruto immediately reached behind and grabbed his fan as both Hinata and Sakura jumped back and shielded their faces "Wind Scythe Jutsu" Naruto shouted. In one swift motion Naruto pulled out his fan, opened it and swung it with all his might.
The result was a massive gale of wind that rushed across the arena like an unrelenting force of nature; with no cover to hide behind the opposing team was hit full force. The water from the dozens of surrounding pools were sent towards the enemy team at such high speeds that they turned into little senbon.
The 2 kiri shinobi and their Iwa comrade were hit by the high winds and send flying into the high wall behind them smacking into it while the water droplets cut their skin and their cloths. All 3 fell to the ground coughing as the win got knocked out of them.
Sakura and Hinata were both looking at Naruto stunned at the power behind the attack.
'Unbelievable; I had no idea Menma was this powerful with wind jutsu' Sakura thought.
Naruto was smiling behind his mask as he looked at his handiwork 'holy shit I love this thing! I owe Koyuki and that scientist guy a huge favor for this' he thought.
"Ok, you 2 let's go" Sakura shouted; Naruto and Hinata nodded and all 3 began to run forward with Sakura running up the middle, Hinata running to the right and Naruto running to the left.
With Sakura
Sakura was running up the middle of the arena to engage her opponent, the Iwa shinobi; Sakura deduced that the Iwa shinobi will be the heavy hitter due to his earth jutsu. Sakura decided she was going to use the super strength she learned from Tsunade to engage the earth jutsu; meeting force with force.
The Iwa ninja now recovered from Naruto's winds jutsu got up and saw Sakura running towards him "shit fuck" he shouted as he went through hand signs "Earth Style: Earth Spikes" he shouted as he slammed his hands onto the ground. Earth spikes began to shoot out of the ground on the walkway Sakura was running on heading straight for her.
Sakura seeing this clenched her fist and cocked it back "Chaaaaaa" Sakura shouted as she threw her punch; her fist connected against the earth spike in front of her shattering it to rubble. The force of the hit continued through and began to shatter the spikes behind the one Sakura just hit.
"Crap" the Iwa ninja shouted as he began to run across the pool of water towards Sakura "you're going down pinkie" he said as he neared Sakura. Sakura began to run on the pool towards the Iwa ninja with a smirk on her face.
"I'd like to see you try" Sakura taunted back; both Sakura and the Iwa ninja cocked back their fists and threw punches simultaneously. Both of their fists collided and blasted back the water of the pool from the force of the 2 blows.
Sakura strained against the punch as the Iwa ninja infused earth chakra into his fist to strengthen his attack; despite this Sakura continued her attack by throwing a kick. The Iwa ninja blocked her kick and retaliated with a follow up punch which Sakura dodged.
Sakura hopped back a few feet and glared at the Iwa ninja 'I won't lose here' she thought as she ran forward.
With Hinata
Hinata with her Byakugan activated ran around the right flank of the arena towards a Kiri ninja who was running towards her with his Wakizashi out and gleaming in the sunlight. Hinata seeing this charged her hands with chakra creating 2 visible coats of chakra over her hands.
'Here I go' Hinata thought as she was about to engage her opponent; the kiri ninja slashed at Hinata with his sword and Hinata put up her defenses. Hinata sent used her chakra coated hand to block the sword with a loud 'clang' resulting from the collision; Hinata followed up by throwing a strike at the Kiri ninja's midsection.
The Kiri ninja dodged receiving only a glancing blow from Hinata tearing his shirt; the Kiri ninja fell back and put up his sword and took out several kunai and shuriken. The Kiri ninja threw the weapons at Hinata who got into a defensive stance.
Hinata ducked under a kunai before dodging to the right avoiding a shuriken; Hinata rose up and using her chakra coated hands knocked the last few kunai and shuriken out of the air before charging at the Kiri ninja.
The Kiri ninja cursed as he pulled out his sword once more to engage Hinata again; Hinata steeled herself as she closed in to engage her opponent once more.
With Naruto
Naruto was on the left flank and currently engaging the other Kiri shinobi in a long range ninjutsu battle; Naruto ducked down as a water bullet flew over his head before rolling avoiding a second water bullet. Naruto stood back up and reached down and grabbed his 2 small fans opening them up.
'You want a ranged battle; well, I'll give you one dude' Naruto thought as he brought his fans back "Wind Sickle jutsu" Naruto shouted as he began to rapidly fire wind blades at the Kiri ninja. The Kiri ninja began to dodge the wind blades until he was hit by one on his shoulder and knocked into the water.
Naruto smirked at this as he looked ahead waiting for his opponent to come out of the water; however, after a few seconds Naruto became concerned as he didn't resurface. "Huh; he wasn't hit that- gah" Naruto began but stopped shouting as he was hit from behind by 3 shuriken; Naruto fell forward into the water.
The Kiri ninja came out of the water several pools behind Naruto soaking wet. Naruto while underwater took out the shuriken and looked around; he saw under the walkways were 3x3 holes cut going through them connecting the pools.
'That's how he got me; he swam around me' Naruto thought as he began to swim through a hole off to his right 'good thing this jacket is reinforced; I don't think my wounds are that bad' he thought. As Naruto entered another pool he sank to the bottom and charged his feet with chakra 'ok enough playing around; time for a counter attack' he thought.
The Kiri ninja was on a walk way looking around waiting for Naruto to emerge from the water; suddenly off to his right he saw something shoot out of the water. Naruto shot himself out of the water and up into the air; Naruto put his small fans away and pulled out his medium size fan and opened it.
"Wind Scythe jutsu" Naruto shouted as he launched a wall of wind towards the Kiri ninja; the Kiri ninja went through hand signs himself.
"Water Style: Water wall" the Kiri ninja shouted as a wall of water formed in front of himself as the wind jutsu neared; the water wall held as the wind jutsu back for a few seconds until it broke through sending him flying back. The Kiri ninja was sent flying until he corrected himself and landing 2 pools away; as he regained his bearing he looked to where Naruto was only to see him directly in front of him with his fan folded.
"Gotcha jackass" Naruto shouted as he swung his fan; Naruto hit the Kiri ninja on his left ribs sending him skipping across the water before crashing into a walk way. He shook his head and jumped onto the plat form taking out a kunai and getting ready to fight Naruto.
With Tsunade, Gaara, Mei, and Koyuki
"Quite an interesting plan" Gaara said "Sakura fighting a heavy hitter, Hinata fighting a close-range fighter and Menma fighting a long-range fighter" he said. And Tsunade nodded.
"And very good beginning too" Tsunade said "using Menma to launch a long and wide ranged jutsu throwing their opponents off their game while giving them enough time to launch their attack" she said.
"Is it wrong that I'm not rooting for my own shinobi" Mei said as she folded her hands in front of her face "I'm finding those 2 kunoichi quite interesting" she said.
"Well, the pink one is my student" Tsunade said with a smile.
"Let's see how they handle a counter attack" Koyuki said as she looked through her binoculars.
With Sakura
Sakura and the Iwa shinobi were exchanging fists in a fast-paced taijutsu battle; Sakura threw a punch at the Iwa ninja's head to which he dodged. The Iwa ninja retaliated by throwing a punch which hit Sakura on her side nailing her kidney; Sakura had the air knocked out of her as the Iwa ninja pressed on his attack.
The Iwa ninja followed up with a kick to Sakura's midsection sending her skidding back and landing on the ground; Sakura got up with a groan as the Iwa ninja rushed towards her. Seeing this Sakura focused her chakra and took a deep breath 'ok, lets see how you handle this' Sakura thought as she made a quick hand sign.
As the Iwa ninja neared the downed Sakura, he clenched his fist and got ready to strike again "grit those teeth" he shouted as he swung his fist at Sakura's head. As his fist connected Sakura turned into cherry blossom pedals and began to surround him 'what the hell' he thought until he realized what happened 'genjutsu' he thought.
Sakura appeared from behind the Iwa ninja with her fist cocked back "Don't underestimate me" Sakura shouted as she drove her fist into the back of the Iwa ninja with full force. The result was the Iwa ninja being sent sailing across the arena bouncing off the pools several times before slamming into the wall on the other side of the arena.
The Iwa ninja fell off the wall unconscious as the indention of his body was left in the stone wall; Sakura smiled as she cheered "yeah take- oh god that hurt" Sakura began but stopped when she felt pain on her side. She lifted up her shirt and saw a large purple bruise on her side where her kidney was "this is going to take a minute" she said as she began to heal herself "hold on you 2" she said.
With Hinata
Hinata was walking back and dodging the sword slashes being sent towards her from the Kiri ninja; Hinata blocked a sword strike with her chakra coated hand before ducking under a kick thrown by the Kiri ninja. However, the Kiri shinobi slashed once more at Hinata landing a cut on her shoulder cutting through her jacket and her lavender jumpsuit underneath.
Hinata winced from the pain but held back the pain as she grits her teeth; Hinata sent a strike to her opponent's mid-section to which the Kiri ninja dodged as he jumped back. The Kiri ninja landed and put up his sword and went through hand signs "Water Style: Water missiles" he shouted as water shot out of the surrounding pools all heading towards Hinata.
Hinata seeing this stood up straight, closed her eyes and took in a deep breath 'It's time to show what I can do' Hinata thought as she opened her eyes. 'Protective 8 trigrams 64 palms' Hinata shaped her chakra into thin sharp blades on her hands and using her flexibility began to slice apart the oncoming water projectiles.
Hinata using her Byakugan had 360 degrees of vision to see every water missile and used her technique to target every single one; after a few seconds Hinata destroyed the last of the water missiles stopped her technique.
Upon stopping Hinata rushed towards the Kiri ninja who was still stunned that Hinata was able to stop his attack; He reached behind himself and grabbed his sword but by that time it was to late as Hinata was in front of him.
Hinata sent a palm strike to the Kiri shinobi's gut shut down his chakra system, Hinata followed up with a strike to his right shoulder shutting down the arm attempting to reach for his sword. Hinata ended the attack by sweeping him off his feet and sending him to the ground slamming down on his back; Hinata ended her attack by hitting him again in the chest.
The Kiri ninja was now lying down on the ground in agonizing pain groaning; Hinata seeing this kneeled down, bowed her head and spoke "I'm sorry I had to do this; I hope you can forgive me" she said looking down at the boy.
"N-no problem" he said "I think you broke a rib" he said.
"I'm sorry" Hinata said bowing her head once more.
With Naruto
Naruto was still fighting against his opponent as he was using his gauntlet blade to fight against his opponent who was using a kunai; Naruto and his opponents' blades both clashed as sparks flew from the 2 colliding blades.
Naruto slashed at his opponent cutting his opponents jacket before throwing kick that was blocked by his opponent; Naruto's opponent tried to slash at Naruto's leg but Naruto pulled his leg back in time and jumped back.
The Kiri ninja took out several shuriken and threw them towards Naruto; Naruto used his gauntlet to knock the projectiles out of the air. Naruto looked and saw his opponent going through hand signs "Water Style: Water Dragon jutsu" he shouted.
A large water dragon formed behind the Kiri ninja forming together from the water of several pools of water; the dragon descended towards Naruto and Naruto retracted his blade and grabbed his medium fan. Naruto opened it and brought it back "Wind Scythe Jutsu" Naruto shouted as he swung the fan unleashing a powerful wind jutsu that collided with the water dragon.
The 2 jutsu's collided and both canceled each other out and water began to fall down like rain; Naruto took this opportunity to charge at the Kiri ninja who took out a kunai. Naruto folded his fan back up and used the blunt end to attack; he swatted his fan at his opponent's hand knocking the kunai out of his hand and broke his hand. Naruto raised up his fan but before he could the kiri ninja raised up his one good hand.
"Wait, wait, I give up" he said quickly "my hand is broken; I can't fight no more, please" he said and Naruto spoke.
"Calm down dude" Naruto said putting his fan up "I know when to hold back" he said; as soon as he said that the speakers came to life and Katsu's voice began to speak.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the winners of the first round of the finals; Sakura Haruno, Hinata Hyuga and Menma of Suna" Katsu said and the entire arena erupted into applause. Naruto ran over to Sakura and Hinata who were standing in the middle of the arena waiving at the spectators.
"Good job girls, you kicked ass" Naruto said smiling behind his face covering.
"Thanks, Menma; you did great too" Sakura said with a smile.
"We did good" Hinata said softly.
In a waiting room: With Kurumi, Karin and Lee
Kurumi and Karin were both hugging and jumping up and down "he did it, he did it, he did it" they both cheered happy that Naruto won.
"Yosh; what a youthful battle" Lee said looking at the screen "I hope we also have a great battle as well" he said.
Jonin lounge: With Obito, Sango and Kakashi
"Yay Menma" Obito shouted in his Tobi voice "see honey he won, I told you he would" he said and Sango giggled.
"I knew they would honey" Sango said "your team did well Kakashi" she said and Kakashi looked at her with an eye smile.
"I only helped them along their way" Kakashi said "I try to help where I can but most of this is all on their own" he said.
"Oh, don't be so modest Kakashi" Obito said patting his shoulder "you're a good sensei" he said.
"Thanks Tobi" Kakashi said as he looked at Sakura on the screen 'it's a shame I couldn't save the other 2' he thought.
With Naruto
Naruto was alone in a room after getting his back stitched up by a ninja medic "bastard; getting me from behind" he said; he then heard the door knob click and the door opened up. Temari walked in with a giant smile on her face; she closed the door and locked it.
"Oh my god, good job Naruto; you rocked that fight" Temari said walking over and pulling down Naruto's face covering and giving him a kiss on the lips "I knew you could do it" she said and Naruto grinned.
"Was there any doubt" Naruto said and Temari giggled.
"None at all" Temari said as she sat down at a table with Naruto and grabbed a tv remote "Katsu is running the monitoring room; so, we can watch the next match together" she said as she turned on the tv. Naruto wrapped his arm around her as they saw an Iwa team walk in with the last Kiri member a spring team with an Iwa member.
"Wonder how this is going to turn out" Naruto said and Temari nodded.
30 minutes later
The spring team with the Iwa member won the battle completing the second battle of the finals "now finally for what I've been waiting for" Naruto said as he and Temari both looked on as Kurumi, Karin and Lee walked out of an entrance into the arena "go get them girls" Naruto said.
With Kurumi, Karin and Lee
Kurumi, Karin and Lee all stood at the ready looking across at their opponents the Iwa team with a spring country member "lets kick some ass" Kurumi said cracking her knuckles.
"What ever you say" Karin said swapping her glasses for her stronger pair.
"Yosh; good luck you 2" Lee said as the speakers blared overhead.
"Ok everyone" Katsu's voice boomed "let the third round of the chunin exam finals… BEGIN" she shouted as a bang went off signaling the start of the battle.
