Chapter 3: Don't call it South Park.
Caer Daythl, September 13th, 2012, after breakfast.
Mabel packed up the last of her belongings into her case and took hold of Waddle's leash. She then made her way out into the hallway, she passed through several long corridors along the way, each draped in tapestries painting a history of the Freedom Watch throughout the ages, including the very founder of the watch himself, Mabel paid it no mind, She simply made her way to the hanger, where she found her family waiting, Dipper came over to her.
"So, guess it's gonna be weird for a while." Said Dipper.
"Yeah, you could say that." Siad Mabel. "I… honestly didn't think any of this would happen."
"Yeah…" Said Dipper. "We'll see each other again Mabel, you know that right?"
"Of course I do." Said Mabel. "Just… come back okay, alright? Knock a few of those rats dead for me will ya?"
Dipper smiled. "I'm counting on it."
And with that the two twins hugged each other, before Mabel made her way over to the transport, where Badger, Uncle Harrold, and Aunt Valorie were waiting, with one final glance at Dipper and Mark, Mabel embarked on the ship, with a great whirl of its engine, the craft took to the air and set in a great rush.
12 hours later.
The trip to Crossover Town had been a long one. They stopped at a McDonald's on the way for lunch then moved on. Mabel had been quiet the entire time.
"So… What's this Crossover town like?" Asked Mabel, she knew her aunt and uncle lived there but they never talked much about it when they visited.
"Well, It's set in Colorado, Not too far from Denver." Said Badger. "A fine place, though it can get a bit… strange."
"What kind of strange?" Asked Mabel.
"Oh well…" Badger trailed off. "It's a bit much to explain, But I think you'll just have to find out for yourself."
"What does that mean?" Asked Mabel curiously. "Have you ever been there?"
"I live there." Said Badger. "In the northern part of the surrounding forests, It's been home to my family for generations, from the time of my father and his father before him and so on."
"There are forests in Crossover Town?" Asked Mabel.
"Oh yes, plenty of them." Said Badger. "And all with their own special little secrets… and dangerous bandits."
Mabel was in awe until that last bit.
"We're almost there." Called the main pilot.
"Ah, Home at last." Said Harrold.
The transport eventually came to a rocky mountain range, making its way through the narrow crevices. Once it got through them, there suddenly appeared a snow-covered valley down below, and in that valley, there lay a town.
Mabel looked down at the little town, it seemed normal enough, not Gravity Falls but still made her wonder, what kind of mysteries awaited her in that place.
The transport then eventually landed just outside the town and onto a landing pad. As they disembarked, they were met by a small welcoming party. One of them was a young boy in a white and orange uniform.
"Welcome back, Mr. Badger." Said the boy as he strode up in front to shake the big badger's hand. "Safe trip I hope."
"Smooth sailing Chiro." Said Badger, as he let go of Chiro's hand. "Everything here is fine I hope."
"The Shields holding well." Said Chiro. "Nothing out of Sykes or the rest of the underworld though, But I suppose that's a good thing for now."
"Hmm, A good thing too we could all use a break from him right now." Said Badger as Mabel and the Testaburgers disembarked from the ship, Waddles came out and sniffed the terrain, getting accustomed to his new surroundings.
"Well, it's good to be home all the same." Said Harrold as he and Valorie came up to Badger and Chiro. "Good to see you Chiro, Sparx."
"Same to you, Harrold, Mrs. Testaburger." Said Sparx, The red cybernetic monkey. "We're… so sorry for your loss."
"Thank you, Sparx," Valorie said. "How's Wendy by the way?"
"Wendy? oh, your daughters fine." Said Sparx. "She's staying with her friend, Bebe…"
As they talked, Mabel looked past the group to where she saw the town, It wasn't really that much from afar, just a little line of buildings. There was probably more up close, But Mabel would just have to see.
"Well, Mabel." Said Harrold. "Here we are, hope you make yourself at home."
"So this is Crossover Town?" Asked Mabel.
"It's not much." Said Badger. "But it's home enough, and lately something of a refuge for others."
Mabel wasn't sure if she was impressed or not. "So now what?"
"Well, Sweetie." Said Harrold, as he knelt down to Mabel's level. "I hope you find yourself at home here, Your mother-" He stopped himself for a moment, before glancing at his wife. "She and your father would be glad to know you're safe here."
Mabel just nodded.
"We'll, We better get you settled in." Said Valorie, As she and Harrold got their bags, Mabel took Waddle's lead and tugged it for the pig to follow. "Bye Badger."
As the Testaburger family walked off, Badger and the others watched the family make their way to the car.
"Poor kid." Murmured Sparx. "Do you… think she knows about her parents' past?"
"Hmm, No." Said Badger. "And perhaps it should stay that way for now."
As the Testaburgers got into their car and drove off, Mabel looked out the window as they approached the town, wondering what new adventures awaited her from within.
