Sabaku no Kitsune: Chapter 30
Kiri hospital: With Naruto
Naruto groaned as he opened his eyes as saw the bright lights above him "let me guess, I'm in a hospital" he said as he sat up and looked around; Naruto saw that he was in fact in a hospital room "this happens way to often" Naruto said.
"I'll say" came Temari's voice; Naruto turned and saw Temari lying down on the hospital bed next to Naruto "I had enough time to take a little nap" Temari said getting up with a yawn and a stretch. Temari got up and walked over to Naruto giving him a kiss on the lips before sitting next to him "congratulations on your win babe" she said and Naruto smiled.
"Thanks Temari" Naruto said before wincing in pain and grabbing his ribs "oh man I'm hurting; Sakura sure can punch harder now than when we were a team" he said and Temari laughed.
"I'm not going to lie; I got kind of scared when you hit the wall" Temari said and Naruto chuckled "but it's not too bad; a few cracked ribs, fractured wrist and a minor concussion" Temari said. "Nothing a little T.L.C (tender love and care) can't fix" Temari said and Naruto blushed.
"You're going to help me recover" Naruto said shyly and Temari nodded with a smirk and wrapping her arms around him.
"Yep you're all mine when we get back to Suna" Temari said and Naruto began to get a little giddy "but before that" Temari said as she hopped up and ran over to a closet. Temari opened it and came out with something; a 2 foot high trophy with the name 'Menma' on it. It had a figure of a shinobi on it and the Kiri symbol engraved on the bottom "your first place trophy" Temari said as she rushed over and gave it to Naruto.
Naruto smiled like a kid receiving a Christmas present and began to giggle excitedly "oh man, my first trophy; I'm putting this on the mantle" he said. "You know what; this calls for a celebration" Naruto said wiggling his eyebrows and Temari blushed "you thinking what I'm thinking" Naruto said and Temari giggled.
"Oh yeah I am" Temari said.
"Ramen" "sex" Naruto and Temari both said before both paused looking at each other; Naruto was wide eyed while Temari was blushing even harder.
"Or sex… sex is cool to" Naruto said trying to skirt by the awkward moment "we can get ramen afterwards" he said and Temari nodded.
"Y-yeah of course" Temari said stuttering 'oh man that was so awkward' she thought completely embarrassed. 'Oh well' She thought as she crawled onto Naruto's bed and straddled Naruto and gave him a kiss "now just sit back and relax cutie" Temari said as she began to open her top. "I'm taking the reigns this time" Temari said making Naruto nod his head vigorously.
'I'm the luckiest guy in the world' Naruto thought as he and Temari got started.
Kiri restaurant: With Kurumi, Karin, Obito and Sango
"To my lovely daughter and Karin for passing their chunin exam" Obito cheered in his Tobi voice; the surrounding people all cheered as they raised up their glasses making Kurumi and Karin blush from the praise.
"I'm so proud of you girls" Sango said looking at them "you two worked your butts of and now look at you; winners of the big tournament" she said.
"Thanks ma; but we couldn't have done it without ya'll" Kurumi said as she looked at both of her parents.
"Same here" Karin said taking a sip of her drink "without you 2 this wouldn't have been possible" she said and both Obito and Sango smiled.
"Hey, mind if i join you" came a voice; all four looked and saw Kankuro walking over and they all smiled.
"Of course dear; pull up a chair" Sango said and Kankuro nodded pulling out a seat and sitting down "how are you; where's your brother" Sango asked and Kankuro looked around and leaned in.
"Gaara is having a 'meeting'" Kankuro said "only him and the others are welcome" he said and they all nodded.
"That's Kazekage stuff" Kurumi said as she reached into an ice bucket and pulled out a beer "this is a ninja shindig, down the hatch" she said handing Kankuro the beer. Kankuro popped it open and began to drink it "at least you drink beer and not Karin High class lady beverage" Kurumi said mockingly and Karin looked at her.
"They are call Martinis" Karin said sipping her drink "you can drink you bad tasting fizzy water; I'll stick with something fruity" she said and Kurumi rolled her eyes.
"Whatever" Kurumi said sipping her beer.
Kiri Hotel: With Sakura and Hinata
Sakura and Hinata were just finishing up packing their stuff so they can return to Konoha "that seems to be everything" Sakura said as she closed up her back pack "you got everything Hinata" Sakura asked and Hinata nodded.
"Yes, I'm nearly done" Hinata said as she put several more items in her back pack "i had to do a little souvenir shopping for Kurenai sensei and Hanabi" Hinata said as she pulled out 2 items. Salt water taffy and seaweed face scrub.
"Oh beauty products for Kurenai and candy for your sister" Sakura said and Hinata shook her head.
"No candy for my sensei and the face scrub for Hanabi" Hinata said before leaning in and whispering "Hanabi is having acne; this should help out" she said and sakura sweat dropped.
Just then there was a knock at the door, Sakura went over and opened it revealing Kakashi and Lee both waiting with their packs.
"Sakura, Hinata; are you both ready to go" Lee asked excited "I wish to return to Konoha to inform Guy sensei of our trials" he said and both girls chuckled.
"Yeah we're just finishing up packing" Sakura said and both nod "hey guys if you don't mind; can i talk to Kakashi sensei for a minute" she asked.
"Of course" Hinata said "lets go and wait in the lobby Lee" she said and both she and Lee walked out. Kakashi came in and closed the door.
"What's going on Sakura" Kakashi asked and Sakura smiled.
"I just wanted to thank you" Sakura said making Kakashi's eyes widen "Lady Tsunade and Kurenai sensei helped out a lot; but you were the one who put me on the right path" Sakura said. "Even though I lost my fight, I still did my best" Sakura said smiling and looking at Kakashi "I have a long way to go before i become Hokage; but with you're help I made it one step closer" Sakura said and Kakashi eye smiled.
"Well of course Sakura" Kakashi said "after all you are the only precious person I have left" he said. "I know i screwed up" Kakashi said "I failed to bring Sasuke to the light; and I failed to save Naruto from the darkness of the village" he said. Kakashi looked at Sakura with a genuine smile behind his mask "you are the one thing I haven't screwed up; you are my reason to keep pushing forward" he said.
Sakura was now crying as she wiped here eyes "you shouldn't say things like that to me unless you want me to cry" she said and Kakashi chuckled. Sakura then went in and gave Kakashi sensei a hug catching him off guard. Kakashi then wrapped his arms around Sakura and gave her a hug back.
In a single moment both Sakura and Kakashi felt a pang in their hearts; Sakura pulled away slightly and looked up to Kakashi who was surprised. She reached up and pulled down his mask revealing his face; Sakura then got up onto her toes and planted a light kiss on his lips.
Kakashi was shocked for a second before giving her a light kiss back; it was only for a second but it felt like an eternity. Both Sakura and Kakashi pulled away and looked at each other awkwardly before stepping back.
"W-we should go and meet Lee and Hinata" Kakashi said.
"Y-yeah; we should go" Sakura said as she grabbed her bag; both Sakura and Kakashi walked out to meet the other 2 members of their team. Both with a sense of unease surrounding them.
Undisclosed Location in Kiri: With Tsunade, Gaara, Mei, Nagato, Konan and Koyuki
All the kage and leaders of the nations of Konoha, Suna, Ame, Kiri and Yuki were all sitting at a table and have finished discussing their business.
"So it's settled then" Mei said speaking up "a four way alliance between Suna, Ame, Kiri and Yuki in light of Konoha's growing militarism" she said and everyone nodded.
"Along with that we will provide sanctuary to Lady Tsunade and anyone loyal to her" Koyuki said from her side of the table.
"I have a feeling we are going to need it" Tsunade said "Danzo has the Daimyo, Civilian council, four shinobi clans and nearly seventy percent of Konoha's population on his side" she said. "And that's not even mentioning his little private army" Tsunade said.
"If it come war we will be prepared" Nagato said "we have Suna and Kiri ten thousand shinobi ready to battle along with another two thousand from both Yuki and Ame" he said gaining nods.
"Along with that we have several aces up our sleeves" Konan said "we have the Gaara, the one tail host, Utakata, the 6 tails host, Naruto, the nine tails and the three tails which is still unclaimed" she said. "We have three jinchuriki compared to Konoha's zero; although we can count on Taki lending their seven tails to Konoha" she said; Gaara cleared his voice and gained their attention.
"That is something me and Tsunade have discussed" Gaara said "we both talked to Naruto about this before" he said.
Flashback (2 years ago)
Tsunade and Jiraya both came to Suna to check up on Naruto after returning from his mission to Kiri and finding Obito, Kurumi and Sango. Naruto was currently telling Tsunade about what happened when he, Temari and Chiyo fought the root anbu in the village.
"I didn't want to kill Ino" Naruto said as he sat with Tsunade and Jiraya "but, she was trying to kill Temari and I couldn't let her do that" Naruto said as he looked down. "She picked on me in the academy like everyone else did; she was loud, bossy, always fawning over Sasuke" Naruto said as he played with his thumbs "but… i don't know" Naruto said.
"It's a hell of a thing kid" Jiraya said "I'm sorry you had to do that" Jiraya said and Naruto nodded.
"I can't imagine how you feel Naruto" Tsunade said and Naruto looked at the both of them.
"If i feel this bad about Ino… I don't even want to know how I'd feel about fighting against another person I know" Naruto said "I just… I don't think i can do it" he said.
"You don't have to" Jiraya said "you've been through hell and worse; if you want to sit out if Konoha does anything… then you've earned the right" he said.
"You don't owe us anything Naruto" Tsunade said and Naruto nodded.
"Thanks you guys" Naruto said with a soft smile.
Flashback ends
"If a war breaks out Naruto will not be involved" Tsunade said shocking everyone "Naruto has been through so much in his life; abuse and hate from Konoha, losing his best friend, getting banished from his village, having to start a new life in a foreign land and ultimately killing one of his former comrades" she said. "It's unfair to ask Naruto to do something like this when he has so much to lose and nothing to gain" Tsunade said.
"Naruto for the first time in his life has found happiness; I will not take that away by sending him to war against his former homeland" Gaara said "I'd rather take to the battlefield myself and leave Naruto in charge of Suna" he said.
"If that's his wish I support it" Koyuki said "Naruto has good judgement; I will not force him to fight" she said.
"I have led men into battle more times than I can count" Mei said "i only took those who volunteered; those who's hearts were not in the battle will only be a hinderance" she said. "If Naruto doesn't want to fight, then so be it" Mei said "I'm not Yagura; I will force anyone into battle" she said.
"I think he's making a mistake" Nagato said "he is only delaying the inevitable; whether he want to or not, the battle will come to him" he said. "I will respect his wishes; but please tell him something lord Kazekage" he said and Gaara looked at him.
"What is it you wish to say" Gaara said and Nagato spoke.
"If you want peace; prepare for war" Nagato said and Gaara nodded.
"Very well" Gaara said and Tsunade stood up.
"Then this meeting is adjourned; all communication will be through messenger hawks only and with blood seals" Tsunade said as everyone nodded, got up and left the room.
The next morning; Kiri hotel: With Karin
Karin woke up with a massive hang over and "Ow; I think i drank too much last night" Karin said as she fumbled for her glasses on the night stand "there you are" she said. Karin then realized she was naked 'huh; did i get hot last night' she thought until it dawned on her 'wait this isn't my room' she thought in a panic.
Karin then felt movement next to her and saw a body with a pillow covering the head 'oh god' she thought as she reached and pulled the pillow.
"Mmmm… turn off the light" Kankuro said as he shielded his eyes; when he opened them he saw a bright red naked Karin "what the- Karin why are you here" he asked as he sat up. Kankuro then saw he was naked "why am i naked" Kankuro said as he looked at his body; it then hit him like a ton of bricks "oh shit- did we…" Kankuro began and Karin nodded.
"I think we did" Karin said embarrassed.
"Oh" Kankuro said as he looked away "this is… uh… a little awkward" he said.
Kiri hotel restaurant: With Kurumi
"Breakfast; the most important meal of the day" Kurumi chirped as she walked in and took a seat; as she did she began to browse the menu until she noticed someone "hey Gaara" Kurumi said.
Gaara looked over and saw Kurumi sitting at a table "Hello Kurumi" Gaara said in his monotone voice "how are you doing" he asked walking over.
"I'm great" Kurumi said as "just gettin' my mornin' fixin's" she said. "C'mon sit down; don't be a stranger" Kurumi said and Gaara nodded. Gaara sat down and a waiter came over.
"Hello; can I get you two you a beverage" he asked and both nodded.
"Black coffee" Kurumi and Gaara said at the same time; both Kurumi and Gaara looked at each other in surprise.
"You like your coffee black too" Gaara said surprised "lots of teenage girls back in Suna like those coffee's with the strange names" he said and Kurumi scoffed.
"Oh yeah all those frappe-whatever's and Mocha-whatchamacallits" Kurumi said "i don't get them fancy things; coffee isn't coffee unless it wakes you up" she said and Gaara nodded.
"I agree" Gaara said "Temari got me one of those cursed drinks; it was too sweet and it was cold" he said and Kurumi's jaw dropped.
"That's what i said; cold coffee is a sin" Kurumi said "coffee is supposed to be hot; if not it's just cold bean juice" she said.
"Finally someone with common sense" Gaara said; both Kurumi and Gaara began to have a vigorous conversation about coffee leaving the restaurant staff looking on in shock.
"Isn't that the Kazekage and the girl who participated in the exams" a waitress said "how are they talking so casual" she said.
"They must be really good friends" Said another.
"Or they could be dating" said a cook.
The waiter was looking on at Gaara and Kurumi and smiled 'it all begins with a single conversation' he thought as he picked up a coffee pot and 2 mugs 'this is their first mug; and probably not the last' he thought as he walked over.
That afternoon; Kiri country side: With Naruto and company
Naruto, Temari, Obito, Sango, Kurumi, Karin, Gaara and Kankuro were all walking down the road to head back to Kiri; as they walked down the road they saw 2 figures standing under a tree. Jiraya and Tsunade were both waiting under the tree as Naruto and his friends walked along the road
"Hey; how goes it" Jiraya shouted as he walked over making Naruto smile under his hood and mask "good job you three; especially you 'Menma'" Jiraya said with a wink and Naruto chuckled.
"Thank you 'Jiraya of the sanin'" Naruto said and both began to chuckle like idiots.
"Dumbasses" Tsunade and Temari said at the same time; both Naruto and Jiraya turned their head at them with tick marks.
"Hey" Naruto and Jiraya said at the same time.
"Holy crap did that just really happen" Obito whispered to Sango who nodded 'wow two hot tempered blonde women and two dunce's; life is strange' he thought.
"Menma" Tsunade began as she walked up "I'm so proud of you" Tsunade said as she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug. "You have grown into a fine shinobi and into a good man" Tsunade said as she began to tear up "I just wish you could've stayed in Konoha so i could've seen it" she said and Naruto wrapped his arms around her.
"I know granny, i know" Naruto said as he hugged her before letting go "but it all turned out for the best" Naruto said as he walked to Temari and grabbed her hand. "If it didn't happen then I would've never found the love of my life" Naruto said making Temari smile.
"I guess that's true" Tsunade said wiping her face "Now then; I came to wish you and Jiraya a fare well and safe travels" Tsunade said and Naruto looked at Jiraya who was smiling.
"I decided to make a change" Jiraya said "i decided it would be best to move to Suna; for my spy network of course" he said and Naruto jumped for joy.
"Alright" Naruto said "can you believe it babe; pervy sage is coming to Suna with us" Naruto said and Temari looked a t Jiraya with a scowl.
"If you dare to spy on me and Naruto, I'll rip your nuts off" Temari said and Jiraya looked insulted.
"I would never do such a thing" Jiraya said and everyone looked at him not believing him "fine, fine" Jiraya said.
"We better get going; our boat leaves in 2 days" Gaara said and the others nodded.
"Ok Gaara" Naruto said as he hugged Tsunade one more time "until next time" Naruto said and Tsunade nodded as she hugged him back. Both broke the hug and Naruto and crew began to walk down the road 'oh man, pervy sage is coming with us, this is so awesome' Naruto thought 'looks like things are finally looking up' Naruto thought.
Meanwhile in Konoha; Root Base: With Shikamaru, Neji and Kiba
Shikamaru, Neji and Kiba were all walking through the root base to Danzo's office; all 3 were wearing their Root uniforms.
Kiba was taller and more muscular, he wore a black muscle shirt, black combat pants and 2 pouches on his belt; he had a tattoo with the word 'Root' on his right arm and had his hair slicked back. "I wonder what Lord Danzo wants" Kiba said as he cracked his neck "maybe another mission" he said.
"Most likely not" Neji said "lord Danzo would've call on all three of us unless it was something serious" he said. Neji was wearing a white short sleeved Kimono top with 'root' on the chest and dark grey pants; Neji had his arms wrapped in black bandages and had strange rings on his fingers.
"We won't know until we get there" Shikamaru said "lets get this over with" Shikamaru said; a few minutes later they all reached the empty training room where they saw Danzo standing in the middle.
"Lord Danzo" Shikamaru, Neji, and Kiba all said with a bow and Danzo nodded and they stood back up.
"I brought you here to inform you of some… interesting information from one of my agents" Danzo said "come on out" Danzo ordered; out of the shadows Itachi Uchiha appeared and all 3 men got on guard. "Stand down" Danzo ordered "he's one of my agents; he's been working for me for years" he said. Shikamaru, Neji and Kiba all hesitated before lowering their guards.
"Ok… so is this why you called us here" Kiba asked and Danzo shook his head.
"No" Danzo said "while Itachi was out he found two surviving Uchiha who were Suna shinobi" he said shocking all Shikamaru and the others. "When he failed to eliminate them he retreated and came back here; along the way he met someone interesting" Danzo said as another figure came out of the shadows; Asuka appeared wearing a black root uniform with a sword on her back "Asuka here was also in the vicinity hunting down another Suna Shinobi; the one who murdered her father" he said and Asuka nodded.
"What does that have to do with us" Shikamaru said getting straight to the point; Danzo smirked as looked to Asuka who pulled out a sketch book and held it open. When she did all 3 men saw the profile picture of the person who killed Asuka's father; long spiky blonde hair, blue eyes and 3 whisker like birth marks on both cheeks.
"It can't be" Neji said in disbelief and Danzo nodded.
"There is no doubt" Danzo said as he looked at the 3 shocked men "Naruto Uzumaki is alive" he said.
