Chapter 7 – The Squirrely Scout Twins

It was a bright day at Lake Stikismelly, where Timmy's group of scouts, known as the Squirrely Scouts, were camping at said lake. Most of the members were setting up their tents or gathering firewood, but Timmy and his sister, Chloe, were already one step ahead of them. The twins exited their mansion-size tent to check and make sure it was up to the handbook's requirements. Chloe got out a ruler and measured the length of the pegs. "Check," she said, as Timmy wrote down the status on a clipboard. He checked the distance from a telescope close to a tree. "We're officially awesome," he said, hi-fiving his sister as Cosmo and Wanda, disguised as squirrels, hopped down on to a branch next to the siblings. "I love camping with the Squirrely Scouts," said Cosmo. "And I love the kids' uniforms," said Wanda, admiring their merit badges. "Ooh, here's one for making polka interesting," said Cosmo, looking at a badge on Timmy's left shoulder. "That was a toughie," said Timmy. "Just be glad I helped you with that one," said Chloe. "Right. All we need now is the sighting and capture of a mythical creature badge and we'll set the record for having all of them!" said Timmy excitedly. "What kind of creature are you after, Timmy?" asked Wanda. "The granddaddy of them all: Bigfoot. He's worth extra credit," he said. "This is going to be so much fun!" shouted Chloe, unable to control her enthusiasm. "We can help you get your merit badge, you two," said Cosmo. "All you have to do is wish for it," said Wanda. "Hold it! I absolutely refuse to do any wishing in the acquiring of a merit badge. Because it would look like cheating!" said Chloe, wanting to get the badge the correct way.

Just then, Mr. Turner walked up towards his kids, causing Cosmo and Wanda to scurry up the tree to avoid being seen. Their father then explained that he was grateful that a new rule was added which allowed girls to become Squirrely Scouts as he patted their heads. As he finished the inspection on his children, he walked right into Timmy's mythical creature trap, intended for Bigfoot. "Kids, you've learned well," he said proudly while hanging upside-down. "Why, I remember when I was a Squirrely Scout. I could stuff forty nuts in my cheeks. Hey! I just happen to have some here in my back pocket!" He reached into his pocket and started stuffing nuts in his cheeks as Chloe rolled her eyes. The twins walked away with their fairies, who transformed back into their normal forms. "Where do you suppose Bigfoot lives?" asked Cosmo. "I know, let's take them to the mythical forest," suggested Wanda. "That's where I'd live if I was mythical. But sadly, I'm just adorable," said Cosmo as he and Wanda laughed. They flew off in the direction of the mythical forest with Timmy and Chloe right behind them.

Meanwhile, at Camp Creampuff just past the trail, with the entrance blocked by barbed wire, Vicky was relaxing in a lawn chair drinking cup of guava juice. All the while, other members of the Sugar Creampuffs were putting up her tent, doing her laundry, and taking care of her latrine duty. "Certainly girls, and don't worry. I promise none of your parents will ever see these atrocious report cards of yours," she said, holding up a stack of bad report cards that she purposely changed by hacking into the school's computer system. She then ordered one of the girls to give her more guava juice as she just finished drinking it out of her cup. Suddenly, the camp leader, a tall scary looking lady with black hair called for all of the girls including Vicky. "Now that we have made a strong camp, we will make strong meal," she said in a thick German accent. She then grabbed Vicky and ordered her to get firewood to make sauerkraut, since she was camp counselor. The other members cringed in disgust. She then explained that the others would be playing with her mean dog, Trouble. "He needs his exercise." The girls ran away as fast as they could from their leader's big dog. Vicky chuckled nervously before running off, knowing that it would be unwise to question the leader's decisions.

As she was picking up firewood, Vicky noticed Timmy and Chloe through the bushes. "So, the little squirts are on a camping trip too, huh? I'll be I can scare them and all of their dorky pals after it gets dark," she said as she laughed cunningly. Eventually, the twins and their fairies reached a huge rock, claiming it was the Mythical Forest. "This is just a big rock!" said Chloe, folding her arms. "Well, that's because you don't have magic vision," said Wanda, giving the kids two pairs of pink-tinted star-shaped glasses to wear. As soon as they put on the glasses, they entered the Mythical Forest. There were different kinds of creatures such as a manticore, a Pegasus, a centaur, and the Loch Ness Monster. Back in her tent as Trouble was continuing to chase the other Creampuff Scouts, Vicky was stitching a costume to scare Chloe and the boys. "This costume is going to scare the squirrels off all the little squirts," she said, admiring her work.

Back in the Mythical Forest, Timmy, Chloe, Cosmo, and Wanda approached Bigfoot's cave. "Our merit badge is as good as got," Timmy said to his sister. Just then, they heard what seemed to be roaring. Timmy and Chloe held each other in fear. The long-haired creature known as Bigfoot exited his cave was revealed to just be yawning. "I need a new mattress," he said. "Are you Bigfoot?" asked Timmy. "Uh yeah, my real name is Bigfootowskowits. Victor Bigfootowskowits. How's it going man?" said Bigfoot in a hippie dialect. "So, you're not a mythical creature?" asked Chloe as she shook his hand. "Nah, spiritual," he said. His wife came out and offered the guests herbal tea. "Okay, this is getting weirder by the moment," said Chloe, raising her left eyebrow. Later that night, Vicky was planning to jump out and scare the Squirrely Scouts with her make-shift monster costume. She added dental glue to the fake teeth to make herself look more menacing. As the four returned to their camp, Timmy was disappointed that Bigfoot wasn't really a mythical creature. As soon as the twins' father walked up to them, Vicky jumped out in her costume and attempted to scare the scouts, but to no avail. Desperate, she assumed the Frankenstein pose to terrify them, but ended up getting caught in Timmy's mythical creature trap, to which Timmy exclaimed was Bigfoot. Mr. Turner presented the twins with their final advanced merit badge. "Yes! We did it!" said Chloe, hugging Timmy tightly. "We're totally squirrely!" The twins hi-fived each other, knowing that all of their hard work earning the other badges paid off as genuine Squirrely Scouts.
