Chapter 9 – New Game: Start!

Deep inside a virtual alleyway, Timmy, Chloe, Cosmo, and Wanda were holding up their weapons while traversing through the video game level. "It's quiet. Too quiet," said Timmy, lowering his visor on his virtual helmet. Just then, a shadowy figure ran past them. They looked in the direction it came from and baked up as the enemies inched towards them. Then, without warning, they threw carrots at the twins. "Kids, look out!" warned Wanda. "That's double the daily recommended supply of beta carotene!" said Cosmo. The twins dodged the carrots to avoid losing one of their lives, but Cosmo ended up getting holes in him, thus losing his last life. The enemies then hopped into the light and were revealed to be ninja bunnies. "That's it. Helmets off," said Timmy. Everyone took off their virtual helmets and returned to the twins' bedroom. "Look at me. I'm cheese!" said Cosmo, as Timmy tossed his helmet towards the TV. "Something wrong, Timmy?" asked Wanda. "Fuzzy bunnies? What am I, four?" he asked, feeling embarrassed. "Oh, you did NOT just say that!" said Chloe, narrowing her eyes. "Are you kidding me? These enemies make me want to puke!" he screamed back at his sister. "Why you…!" she exclaimed, leaping at him and engaging in another sibling scuffle.

As they were fighting, Vicky kicked the door open, being disturbed by their shouting. "Hey! I heard happy and fighting! What's going on in here?" she demanded. "Just, uh, playing video games," said Timmy, pinned down by Chloe with his right arm being pulled by her. "Ow! Not so hard!" "Can it, gopher face!" she yelled at her brother. "Both of you need to keep it down. You know when I'm watching you, I'm watching something on TV!" screamed Vicky, slamming the door. Cosmo and Wanda were relieved that Vicky didn't see them by hiding out in their fish bowl while still in their fairy forms. "Chloe, I really need to go to the bathroom. So could you please get off of me?" he asked. "Fine, go to your stupid toilet," she said, getting off her brother, ending their tussle. Timmy then told Cosmo and Wanda to fix the game to have no cute stuff in it. "Make a game that'll scare the pants off me," he said. Just then, Chloe heard her stomach rumble. "Ooh. Not again," she said, holding her stomach. She ran towards the bathroom and slammed the door. "Great. Chloe's got another one of her stomach problems after eating too much pizza again," said Timmy rolling his eyes. "Well, you know how it is with her, Timmy," said Wanda, who then suggested that he just wish for what he wants in the video game. "I wish for a video game that's challenging—a game that you can't wish yourself out of," he said, walking towards the bathroom to check on his sister. "That wish is just vague enough to work," said Cosmo. "But we're going to need a lot of power to make it work," said Wanda.

The fairies plugged their wands into the wall outlets via extension cords and granted the wish, causing a power surge to happen in most areas of Dimmsdale. As soon as it ended, Chester, a blonde boy with braces, and A.J., a black genius boy, realized that their friends, Timmy and Chloe, must have a new video game. They ran inside the Turner residence and into the twins' bedroom, but didn't see their friends anywhere. "It's 6:13. Timmy always goes to the bathroom at 6:13," said A.J., checking his watch. "Alright then, where's his sister?" asked Chester. "Probably in the bathroom with him. Must've had too much pizza again," said A.J. before noticing the helmets. The two boys put them on and were teleported into the game. "That's not good," said Wanda, knowing the dangers that she and Cosmo put in the game. "What's up with the power surge?" asked Timmy, dragging Chloe back into their room. "Chester and A.J. are on TV," said Cosmo. "They're what?!" said Chloe in disbelief. "This is weird," said Chester, confused by the rotating spike balls. "Usually Timmy and Chloe's games are filled with fuzzy bunnies." "I know. What are they, four?" asked A.J., as he Chester burst into laughter. Chloe slapped her hand on her face in embarrassment. "That's it. I'm resetting the game," said Chloe, reaching for the reset button until Wanda stopped her.

"If you turn the game off while they're in there or if they lose their three lives, they'll disappear forever," the fairy explained. Timmy tried wishing them out of the game, but Cosmo reminded him that part of his wish was that he couldn't wish anyone out of it. Wanda then explained that the only way out of the game was to either beat it or to take off the helmet. "You guys don't do anything halfway, do you?" asked Timmy in annoyance. "Nope. We're two halves of a whole idiot," Cosmo declared proudly. Just then, the power briefly surged. The twins ran out of their room and gazed downstairs from the banister, seeing Vicky turn a lamp on and off. "The video game is using so much energy that anything Vicky plugs in could turn off the power and turn the game off!" cried Timmy. "Those two are goners unless we get them out of there." "You two keep Vicky from using up any more electricity," instructed Chloe as she and Timmy putting their VR helmets on. Vicky plugged in six electrical outlets into the wall socket for the TV, DVD, Blu-Ray, popcorn microwave and neck massager, and another item that she didn't know what it did. "I ain't paying for the electricity!" she said walking away, knowing that it was the twins' parents that paid the house bills. The outlets sparked due to the amount of power that they were emitting. Cosmo and Wanda appeared near the outlets as mice to unplug them to prevent the power from being blown. "I've got an idea!" said Cosmo, running towards the TV as Wanda followed him.

They hopped into the TV as Vicky turned it on and immediately parodied a 1950's sitcom, I Love Lucy. "Boring," said Vicky, flipping over to the news with Cosmo and Wanda. "Here's Cosmo with the weather," said news anchor Wanda. "I thought you said feather," said Cosmo, wearing glasses and holding up a quill feather. Meanwhile, in their wished-up video game, Timmy and Chloe entered the first level. "This is even cooler than before! The electric shredder balls of doom!" Chloe screamed in excitement with her left eye twitching. "Man, Cosmo and Wanda really made this game a lot—tougher," he said, getting hit by one of the balls, losing his first life. "I lost a life—on level one. What am I, four?" Chloe angrily frowned at her brother, calling him an idiot for not paying attention. Back in the real world, Vicky was continuing to flip through channels. She then came across a talk show starring Wanda, where she was interviewing a hillbilly version of Cosmo, who stated to have married his own car. "Yawn," Vicky said, getting bored of the program. Back in the game, Timmy and Chloe were running through the level when Chloe got hit. "How did I not see that one coming?" she said, chastising herself. "If we're careful, we could get killed!" said Timmy. Just then, another power surge happened. This caused A.J., who was in another level with Chester, to fall off the monkey bars that he was traversing across.

Soon, the twins reached level eight, which was an underwater level that looked like their Aunt Gertrude's house. Suddenly, a giant lobster-like creature emerged from behind the couch that resembled their aunt. "Let Aunt Gertrude pinch those chubby cheeks of yours," she said, readying her claws. "I hope she means our faces," said Timmy. The duo dodged the claws and swam away as fast as they could before seeing a pink Wanda Coin. They touched it and the in-game Wanda explained that they may have one wish. "I wish Timmy and I had cheeks of steel!" said Chloe. "I hope you mean your faces," said Wanda. "I do!" screamed Chloe, fearing their lives. The virtual Wanda granted her wish, giving the twins steel cheeks on their faces. The lobster Aunt Gertrude pinched their cheeks, causing her to crack away and disappear, signifying the defeat of a boss. Back in living room, Vicky flipped to a parody of Seinfeld called Cosmo. "It's a show about nothing," said Cosmo. "How do we know when it's over?" The TV audience laughed at his sitcom joke, whereas Vicky was not amused. She changed the channel to a documentary about a singer, with Cosmo being the singer in question singing Wheels on the Bus and Bingo, two iconic children's songs. "Man, there is nothing on today," vented Vicky, slouching back in the chair.

Back in the game, Chester and A.J. reached the Classroom of Doom level, where the goal was to collect the cherry at the end while traversing across the desks and avoid falling off. Shortly after they arrived, Timmy and Chloe caught with their friends. As soon as Chester saw Chloe, he had hearts in his and smiled sheepishly. "Are you okay, Chester?" she asked. "Totally, dudette," he said lovingly. She stuck out her tongue in disgust. "You are such a weirdo," she said, crossing her arms. "Enough of this! We got to get out of here!" exclaimed Timmy. "No way! This the greatest video game ever," said A.J., slapping Chester back to reality. "Why do you even like his sister anyways?" "Because she's got blonde hair and cute freckles," said Chester. She growled in his face like a junkyard dog, giving him the hint to back off. "Why would I go out with you? I may be cute, but I have standards," she scolded. "Focus, Chloe! We only have two lives left," said Timmy, reminding her of the danger that they were in. "So what? It's not like if we get wasted in here, we disappear forever, right?" asked A.J., with a smug look on his face. The twins just glanced at each other nervously, remembering what Wanda told them before they put on their helmets. "Besides, I have three lives," said Chester proudly until A.J. purposely shoved him off the desk they were on. Chester reappeared next to A.J., now only having two lives like his friends. He was about to throw A.J. off, when Timmy stopped him by grabbing A.J. out his hands. Timmy started giving a speech on teamwork to his friends, when he noticed that both of them were having too much fun playing the game. "Boys," groaned Chloe as she and Timmy ran after them.

Back in the living room, Vicky attempted to change the channel again, but nothing came on. "What the heck is wrong with this thing?" she complained, hitting it on the arm of the chair. On the inside of the TV, Cosmo admitted to Wanda that he had ran out of ideas. "Easy come, easy go," said Wanda, unsurprised. "No wonder nothing's working," said Vicky, noticing that the outlets have been unplugged. She plugged them back in and ended up causing all of the power to go out in the house. Wanda noticed that Cosmo was gone and poofed into the twins' bedroom. Cosmo, still in mouse form, was running on a treadmill with a piece of meat in front of him to keep the video game on. "Way to keep the power going, sweetie," said Wanda. "Good thing I'm more hungry than tired," he said, referring to the meat in front of him on a hook. The four kids reached the portal to the final level when Timmy explained that they should really stop playing the game. He tried explaining that he had to go to the bathroom again, causing Chloe to slap her hand on her face. "You just went at 6:13, beaver brain!" she said. "Quit calling me names, blondie!" he shouted. She ferociously leapt at him and engaged in another twin tussle. "Dudes, stop!" said Chester, causing the twins to end their brawl. "You can't fight each other now. Not when we're so close to the end. Besides, we've only got…" "One level left!" their friends said in excitement.

The four entered the portal to the last level, which was structured just like Timmy and Chloe's living room. Just then, the ground shook and cracked open, revealing the final boss of the game: Robot Vicky. "Looks like I'm having four helpings of twerp for dinner," said the Robot Vicky. "Guys, take off the helmets! Quick!" Timmy shouted in a panic. "We still have two lives left," said Chester, feeling confident that the final boss would go smoothly. As soon as he finished talking, all four of them lost their second life to Robot Vicky's metallic foot. "That is one bad baby-sitter." "Time to baby-sit," she said, about to sit on them with a roll of dangerous spikes. The kids run from the spikes, only to have Vicky chase after Timmy and Chloe's friends. "No! They'll be gone forever!" screamed Timmy. He pushed them out of the way, sacrificing his last life for them. Cosmo and Wanda witnessed the life icon disappear from the monitor as they commented on how he was gone. Back in the game, Chloe fell to her knees in despair. Tears began to form in her eyes upon realizing what she had just witnessed before her own two eyes. "NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" she screamed as she cried uncontrollably over the loss of her brother.

Just then, Wanda noticed that Timmy's score had went up 50,000,000 points. As she continued to cry, Chloe noticed a bright light emit inside of the level and noticed that it was her twin brother, Timmy. "Timmy! You're alive!" She ran up to him and gave him a big hug while she still had tears in her eyes. "But how?" he asked, knowing that he just lost his last life. Chester and A.J. guessed that his heroic sacrifice must have given him enough points for a free extra life. Chloe wiped the tears from her eyes and got serious with the rest of the boys. "Let's end this," she said, narrowing her eyes. The twins noticed a Cosmo Coin, a green coin that could possibly help them defeat the boss. "Fear my sitting butt," said Robot Vicky. A.J. grabbed a pillow, which shielded him from the spikes. She then chased after Chester with her crusher-like mouth. The twins tossed a china cabinet at her mouth, preventing Chester from losing his life. She then launched two homing missiles at them to finish them off for good. Chester grabbed one and hurled it at the other, causing them both to detonate. A.J. flipped Timmy up at the coin, which he grabbed in the nick of time. "I'm a Cosmo Coin and boy am I glad to see you," said the in-game Cosmo, which turned out to actually be Cosmo himself, as Wanda was running on the treadmill to keep the game on. "I wish I had something to stop Vicky," said Timmy. "Hey, that's just vague enough to work," said Cosmo.

He made the front door appear, causing virtual versions of the Mr. and Mrs. Turner to walk into the virtual living room. "Oh, Vicky, it's us," said the virtual Mrs. Turner. "Timmy and Chloe's mom and dad," said the virtual Mr. Turner. "We're back," said the virtual Mrs. Turner. "You can go home now," said the virtual Mr. Turner. Just as she was about to finish off Timmy and Chloe, Robot Vicky melted in defeat, signifying the end of the video game. Everyone took off their VR helmets and teleported back into the twins' bedroom. Cosmo and Wanda reappeared back in their fish bowl as fish so that Chester and A.J. didn't notice that they were actually fairies. As the power came back on, Vicky stormed into the room angrily. "Alright, game over!" she growled. "You twerps are out of here. Timmy and Chloe have to rewire the house because I can't watch my shows!" Chester and A.J. waved goodbye to the twins, hoping to see them again the following day. Timmy suggested that Vicky watch her shows on his VR helmet that he used to play his game. "Give me that," she said, putting on the helmet. She then got transported into the game on the Electric Shredder Balls of Doom level. The twins laughed as Vicky struggled to make her way through the game. "Should we help her?" asked Chloe between laughs. "Nah, let's see how well she does," said Timmy, smirking at his sister. And that's exactly what they did.

THE END

For now…
