Chapter 16: Bruce Banner.
Unknown Location, The Next Day.
Mabel once again felt consciousness return to her, clutching her forehead as she felt a headache come on.
"Aw… Oh god, how many times am I gonna end up waking up like this?" She groaned, she then took stock of her new surroundings.
It was some sort of cave from the looks of it, With faint Lights illuminating it, Around her, Several Scientific objects littered the place, she got up, walked around and observed her new surroundings more, There were a few tables with notes on them, Test tubes and thermostats organized in no particular order, and in another part of the cave, there seemed to be a Door, left half ajar, Mabel suddenly heard a voice on the other side.
"...As if the situation wasn't already bad enough, One of the Towns people somehow made their way up here, straight into the clutches of Talbot's bloodthirsty Brother, If it wasn't for the Other guy… Well at least the girl's safe… for now, The Dog and Baby ran off in the confusion…"
Mabel peered into the room and saw a Man, sitting at a desk with a whole security set up, He seemed to be talking into some kind of recorder in his hand.
"... I have to finish my work and fast, Ross mena re still looking for me, If they knew where my hiding place was-"
"Hello?" Mabel asked.
The Figure jumped and turned around in his seat. He was a frail looking man, with a shaved beard, brown messy hair, and was dressed in a dark blue hoodie and jeans.
"Oh… you're awake." He said, catching his breath. "Don't sneak up on me like that."
"Sorry." Mabel said. Then she looked around the room. "Whoa… This is the most scientyist place I've ever seen!" He walked over to a table and picked up some test tubes with green liquid in them, and The Man immediately got up.
"Don't touch those!" He cried as he quickly swiped them out of Mabel's hands; she then noticed a Microscope and started fiddling with it. "Don't touch that either, there's still residue I'm studdying."
Mable then scurried to another part of the room as the Man looked on. "What are you…?"
The curious girl then stood in front of a Glass tube, hooked up to various machinery and nearly opened the door, prompting The Shaggy man to quickly stop her again.
"Jesus Christ…!" The apparent Scientist winced as something like a sharp migraine seemed to course into his head, But it quickly passed as he composed himself with a deep breath. "Listen Kid, I know we just met, But this isn't some play house for you, You shouldn't even be up here!"
"Well what are you doing up here then?" Asked Mabel.
"I… Uh…" The Scientist tried coming up with a quick answer. "I'm… just studying the… Geography of this Mountain range, Yes."
"You're a Psychologist?" Mabel raised an eyebrow.
"Uh, It's Geologist." The Man said.
"Then why do you have so much advanced Science stuff?"
The man stared blankly for a moment, not saying anything immediately, then with a sigh he said. "Okay listen, My name… is Dr. Bruce Banner, I'm a gamma researcher, And I'm currently trying to hide from the HulkBusters."
"Gamma Researcher?" Mabel pondered for a moment, then a thought struck. "So you know about the Hulk? He's the reason the Hulkbusters are here."
Banner's eyes widened. "W-What? I-Is that why you're up here?!"
Mabel casually put her arms behind her back and shifted back and forth. "Maybe."
Bruce just stared incredulously.
Meanwhile,
Crossover Town, Colorado, Jewel Residence, October 9th, Breakfast.
Megan chewed on her Waffles, as she sat with her Family around the Table, Her Mother, Melissa noticed something was wrong with her daughter.
"Angel, You seem distracted." She said, "Are you worried about Mabel?"
Megan looked up. "Uh, yeah! Shouldn't we be out finding her right now?"
"Not with the Hulkbusters up there and you know it." Said Emilo, Who stopped eating and joined the conversation. "Besides, I'm sure she'll turn up… Eventually."
Before Megan could even reply to that, her phone began to ring, She excused herself from the Table and left to answer it.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Megan, It's Nick." Came the reply. "I was on my way to the Testaburger residence, When I saw Courtney!"
"What?!"
"I think she was looking for Mabel." Nick went on. "Meet me by the Post office on Fifth Avenue, Quick as you can!"
"I'm on my way." Megan replied, And she ended the call, She quickly went back to the Table, And began finishing her breakfast at an alarming faster rate, ignoring her mothers insistence to take it slow and then began tearing out of the House.
"Megan?!" Called Emilo. "Where are you going?"
"Just out!" She called back as she quickly ran off to find Nick.
Meanwhile,
Crossover Town, Colorado, Crossover Elementary, Secret StoreRoom, October 9th.
Courtney met with Kathy, Kate and Kelly in their hideout and listened as they told her what they found out.
"You say she went up to the East Forest?" She asked, looking at a row of pictures she took.
"Yeah, With the Weird Baby and his Dog too." Said Kate.
"They actually managed to get past the Hulkbusters." Added Kathy.
"Well, Seems we've underestimated our "Little Miss Sweetie Pie." Courntey mused, smiling before it dropped into a serious frown. "All the more reason to get rid of her."
"Your Mom seriously wants us to clean house now?" Asked Kate.
"Yeah, We barely escaped the hangman with Broflovski." Courntey explained. "If she blabs about our trade to anyone, We're screwed."
"But how are we supposed to get to her now?" Asked Kathy. "Let alone find her."
"Hmm, Maybe we could try infiltrating the Hulkbusters and use their technology to track her down." Kelly piped up, The other girls looked at her with the most incredulous of expressions, Until Courtney spoke her thoughts.
"Well Maybe… Something involving the Hulkbusters doesn't seem like a bad Idea…" She murmured.
"I know, That's why I brought them here." Kelly nodded with a smile.
"...What?" Courntey asked, Before she could process this though, A figure suddenly appeared at the exit to their layer.
"It's Sunday Ladies." Major Talbot sneered. "Thought you'd be in school."
Kathy, Kate and Courtney looked up with momentary shock, But Courtney's was the only one to morph into a smile as she glanced at Kelly.
"Kelly… I could kiss you." She said,
