Chapter 17: Origins Explained.

East Forest Mountainside, Colorado, Crossover Town, Unknown Lab,

"So… are you sure you don't know about the Hulk?" Asked Mabel, as Bruce studied his research, trying to avoid any further interaction with the girl. "Cause it looks to me like all this Sciency stuff is made right for him."

She then looked at Various photos and newspaper clippings of the gargantuan green monster, wreaking havoc and fighting monsters. "Wow…"

"Yeah, real scary ain't it?" Banner asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Are you kidding, this looks awesome!" Mabel said, as she picked up a few pictures. "Are you a fan of his or something?"

Bruce stopped what was doing and quickly turned to the inquiring girl. "Uh, er, uh, No!... I mean… Not exactly…"

Mabel squinted. "Are you sure…"

"YES! I'm sure!" Bruce said with exasperation. "Now could you please, I don't know, Sit down before -?!"

He suddenly began to clutch his chest, Sweat starting to beed off his head as he staggered against the table, Mabel couldn't tell but she thought she saw his eye's flash green for a moment. Before long, It stopped and Dr. Banner let out a deep breath to calm himself.

"Sorry." He said, as he regained his balance. "That uh… That usually happens when I'm… agitated."

"...I can imagine." Mabel said, shaking off her surprise.

"So… Uh." Bruce was trying to find the right words. "You say you're looking for the Hulk? Why?"

"It's… kind of a long story." Mabel said slowly. "But if you're not looking for the Hulk either… Then what are YOU doing up here?"

It was then that Bruce felt that he could keep it up. He sighed, rubbed the bridge of his nose, and turned to face Mabel as he took a seat.

"Alright." He said at last. "I'll tell you everything."

Meanwhile,

"81 accounts of Illegal arms trading, 87 accounts of smuggling, Assault and Battery, Bribery…" Thunderbolt Ross listed off all the charges, as Courtney and the K.K.K's sat at the table, listening to their crime listing.

"You girls…" Ross finished as he turned to face, putting his hands on the Table as he stared directly at Courtney. "Have been reeeeally naughty, forget calling your parents, I could have local law enforcement come onto you for this."

"But you're not?" Asked Courtney.

Ross eyed Courtney directly. "Because your friend here, promised us information concerning the Hulk."

"That's… partially true." Conceded Kelly. "But really it was the fact that three residents in this town got through your out-post and are currently in the Mountains as we speak."

"WHAT?!" Ross exclaimed, he turned on Major Talbot and grabbed him by the Collar. "Were you aware of this?!" He Demanded. "If so, then why did you not inform me?!"

"I-I swear I didn't know!" The Major pleaded. :Although we did find a few of our guards knocked…"

"Yep, that's them." Said Kate.

"And you know them?" Ross asked, turning back to the four girls.

"Yes Sir." Said Kathy. "The girl's name is Mabel, Mabel Pines, and the anthropomorphic Dog and Baby we saw her with are… Brian and Stewie Griffin, I believe."

"Well if they're in the Mountains, They're sure to have been picked up by one of our patrols by now." Ross snorted. "Any word from Captain Talbot?"

"Huh, No sir." Major Talbot conceded. "Not in the last 24 hours."

"The Hulk…" Ross growled. "He's taking out my men!" He sauntered over to a nearby Table and slammed it hard, Scattering its contents to the floor.

"So… What's the deal with this Hulk anyway?" Courtney asked. "I've heard the stories But, How exactly did he come about?"

"That's classified information girl." Ross snapped, Courtney just chuckled in response. "Please "Classified?" And you think that's going to kill my own curiosity.

Ross growled before taking a deep breath, he looked to Talbot, who simply nodded in response.

"Very well." He finally said. "I'll tell you."

Flashback, 1991.

Bruce Banner: It was many years ago, I was just a normal scientist specializing in Gamma Radiation. This field of work got me a contract job for the government, specifically, using Gamma Radiation as a Weapon.

Thunderbolt Ross: It was meant to be a source of alternative energy, A Clean Bomb that left no toxic residue.

Bruce Banner: They called it "The Incredible G-Bomb." A Weapon of my own reluctant design, On the day It was to be tested, Ross assigned me the duty of setting it off.

Thunderbolt Ross: But he took too long and just as the countdown started, that's when some damn youth showed up…

Bruce Banner: Hey! Hey Kid! Get out of here!

Rick Jones: What? It's a free Country man, Hey!

(Banner drags the Youth out of the Car and pulls him towards a trench.)

Bruce Banner: C'mon you Idiot! We have to get to the Protective trench before the Bomb goes off!

Rick Jones: Bomb?!

(Back at the Bunker, A finger presses the red button that activates the bomb, causing it to go off as Bruce and Rick reach the trench.)

Bruce Banner: There, You're safe- AGH!

(Rick looks up from the trench in Horror, as Bruce is bombarded with Gamma Rays, bathing him in bright green light, and turning his eye's green!)

Flashback ends.

"And afterwards, things changed." Bruce continued. "Whenever I get angry, or stressed out, my gamma irradiated cells begin replicating and expanding, and when those cells take over, he comes out."

Mabel sat and listened through the whole thing.

"So yeah, Kid." Finished Bruce. "I'm the Incredible Hulk…"

Mabel stared in amazement. "Wow… I never would have guessed… Actually I did, But the story was a nice detail."

Meanwhile,

"And now, He's here." Thunderbolt Ross finished. "For the past two months… We've had nothing, And now, You show up, asking about-"

"Sir! Sir!"

A Soldier raced into the room, panting heavily.

"We've just found Captain Talbot Sir." He reported. "They say his Unit was… Ambushed by the Hulk."

Ross's eyes bulged. "So he IS here! I knew it! Talbot, get your Brother in here, I want a full report of this sighting!"

"Captain Talbot is currently in the Medical wing sir." The Soldier said. "It looked like he was… "Flung" here."

As Talbot quickly left the tent, a small gleam of opportunity flashed in Courtney's eye's.

"Well then, Get him talking if he's conscious." Ross thundered. "And once he's healed up, We're going out there and finding the Hulk!"

"I wouldn't be too hasty, General." Said Courtney. "Besides there's still the undetermined fate of Mabel and her companions."

"And what has that to do with the Hulk?" Ross asked.

"Well…" Courntey said slyly. "Here's the deal, Let me and my friends go, And my whole stockpile of Weapons is yours, To do with as you see fit, With a sweet bonus too."

Ross raised an eyebrow. "And that is?"

"I can give you a few Ideas, to help you find the Hulk." Courntey said with a sinister smile. "What do ya say?"

Beneath his mustache, General Ross' lips curled into a smile.
