While Ami and company are searching for the door to the Moon Kingdom, Usagi and Mamoru made plans to have lunch with her family. What will happen during the lunch?

(Sunday Morning)

After Kunzite and Nephrite had left to go meet up with the girls, Mamoru tried to calm himself down. He thought the hard part was done last night, and then when he came home, he found out there was more. He sighed as he was starting to realize there wasn't much he wouldn't do for Usagi. He didn't have to worry about parents or a sibling finding out that he takes part in saving the Earth with the love of his life. He did notice that Usagi wasn't the only one who had to worry about her family finding out about her double life.

Mamoru sighed. He knew, as intelligent as he is, even he couldn't predict every outcome. Though, he now understood fear came from the fact he couldn't save Usagi from everything, and he knew she would tell him the same.

Mamoru walked into his bedroom to get to the balcony to get some fresh air. He wrestled with that fact alone. Protecting Usagi was his main focus even from her dad; though, he realized maybe a little too late that it wasn't necessary. According to what Kun had informed him, under different circumstances, he was very much aware he would like her father.

Mamoru could feel the tug in his heart; this one was different from when he could sense when she had transformed into Sailor Moon. He wondered what it could be as he felt a similar tug the night before, and then he realized Usagi must be playing their Star Locket and thinking about him; since he knew where she now lived, Mamoru could sense from his position that he knew Usagi was at home, safe. He also realized it was another connected ability and wondered if their Star Locket is the source of their connected abilities. Something else he wanted to discuss with Ami. He would just have to put a pin in for later. At moments like this, he wished for Zoisite.

While he was outside thinking, Mamoru noticed more time had passed than he thought had gone by. Before he went back inside to get ready to have lunch with Usagi and her family, his last thought was he wished he would have gone with Kun and Neph to help the girls with locating the door to the Moon Kingdom. He made a promise to himself, when it comes to Usagi, he will try to uphold any and all of his promises to her. To him, Usagi will always come first.

xXx

Ikuko watched Usagi carefully and how she was taking care with everything which meant she also listened to her carefully. To Ikuko, this meant Mamoru meant a lot to her. The assistance was appreciated after she stopped controlling everything and took her time to explain to Usagi on how to do something, and she realized her daughter knew how to follow instructions especially for all those she loved.

"We're nearly done here, Usagi. Why don't you start getting ready for lunch?" Ikuko suggested. She knew Usagi as well as she knew herself. After all, she had been a girl once and would have wanted to look nice for Kenji, and on occasion, she still does. Usagi wanted to look nice for Mamoru.

"Are you sure?" Usagi asked.

Ikuko nodded. "Yes," she answered.

Usagi untied the pink apron from her waist and took it off. She put it on the hook in the kitchen meant for aprons. "Thank you," she said. Before she walked out of the kitchen, Ikuko said her name.

"Usagi, I sent Shingo off to hang out with his friends," Ikuko said. "I didn't want Mamoru any more uncomfortable than he already will be."

After she turned, Usagi smiled at Ikuko. "You're right, he would be uncomfortable," she said. "Thank you."

"I do want to say I have noticed how the two of you steady each other," Ikuko said. "And that was just a quick observation last night. So did your father, but he'll be okay with it…" She paused and then added, "eventually."

"That inspires confidence," Usagi muttered. She wasn't surprised her mother had figured out a small portion of what she was worried about.

Ikuko narrowed her eyes down at her daughter. "Usagi."

"Yes, Mom," Usagi said.

Ikuko sighed as she walked over to Usagi and gave the same advice her mother gave her the first time they met Kenji, when her father realized Kenji was different from the other boys. "You and I can only do so much, but it's up to Mamoru and your father to build their friendship," Ikuko said. "Do you understand?"

Usagi thought about Princess Serenity and her unborn baby, and knowing on some level, it was going to be a girl. She tried to imagine if Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion had lived if Prince Endymion would have done the same thing her father was doing. She imagined he very much would have done the same thing. "Yes," she said.

"Just back off a little, alright, and they will resolve their own feelings about each other," Ikuko said. "Especially, once when your father realizes how you feel about Mamoru, and how Mamoru feels about you, he won't like it, but he will be a bit more civilized toward him."

"What about you, Mom?" Usagi asked. She was still unsure about how she felt even with the conversation they had last night. Mamoru is the love of her life, and she wanted to make sure there wasn't going to be any problems between her parents and Mamoru.

Ikuko smiled at her daughter. "Usagi, my feelings still haven't changed since last night," she told her. "You don't have to worry, okay?" The age gap did worry her more than a little, but she wouldn't admit that to the young couple.

Usagi nodded. "Thank you, Mom," she said. She walked back to her mother to hug her before she walked out to grab the shower she wanted before Mamoru arrived.

Ikuko watched as Usagi walked out of the kitchen. She knew her daughter was still worried, but she had a certain feeling it wasn't just over lunch with Mamoru or how Kenji and Mamoru would get along. She believed there was more and that wasn't just her motherly intuition talking. She left the door open for communication for her daughter and knew it was up to Usagi if and when she wanted to cross through the threshold or not.

"Have to let her spread her wings," Ikuko reminded herself as she turned to put the finishing touches for their lunch and dessert.

xXx

Usagi had stepped into the shower after getting undressed and letting her hair down. She knew when she volunteered to help her mother with lunch she was using it to not think about her life as Sailor Moon and her past life as a princess who had died pregnant. She didn't have to think about Queen Beryl or the fact her Sailor Guardians are trying to confirm a theory with the healed Shitennou Knights. She didn't know what that theory was, but she hoped it would pan out though because it would lead to more theories and leads.

Usagi realized she was having very similar thoughts to Princess Serenity back in the Silver Millenium. She reminded herself she wasn't Princess Serenity, and Mamoru wasn't Prince Endymion. She and Princess Serenity were two different people with different experiences, with different thoughts. Though, she knew, at the same time, they could be the same person.

Usagi shook herself out of her mood. She knew she was very fortunate; she had people who loved her, including the love of her life who very much loved her back and would protect and keep her safe at all cost. She sensed how much it frustrated him that he couldn't always protect her.

Usagi ordered herself to push it away as she turned off the water and then stepped out of the shower. She wrapped herself in a towel before she started the long process of drying her long blonde hair. The process after the shower comforted her and assisted her in thinking about anything else. She hated to worry; she would prefer to be a carefree teenager. However, life had thrown her a curveball she hadn't seen coming. She just had to be a reincarnated princess with a tragic backstory. Though, she realized, as she walked into her bedroom and flipped open their Star Locket, she wouldn't trade Mamoru for anything, for anyone.

Their Star Locket soothed Usagi as she thought about Mamoru. She thought it was amazing as she thought about him would just calm her down, to make her believe going to be alright. As she let it play, she took her time picking out her outfit carefully looking over all of her wardrobe. She was pleased with her choice. She closed the lid of their Star Locket and placed it back in her pocket.

When she walked out of her bedroom, Usagi nearly ran into Kenji. If her father had been slower, they both would have tripped and been on the ground, but luckily, he was able to catch both of them before they went down. "You okay, Usagi?" Kenji asked.

"Yes," she said. "Thank you, Dad." She was lucky her father was fast and able to catch both of them.

"Usagi, I wanted to talk to you about something," Kenji said. He had hesitated not sure if he should bring this up. "You remember Yoshi Shin?"

Usagi shook her head, knowing exactly who he was and to whom. "No," she said, hoping he couldn't tell that it was a lie. She added the half truth to make her feel better about the lie. "But the name sounds familiar."

"He's a friend and a source," Kenji said. "He's a police officer." He hoped that was enough to jog Usagi's memory.

"Oh," Usagi said, keeping up with the facade. "The police officer whose son has disappeared?" She was rapidly not liking the fact she was continuously lying to her parents about her other life and couldn't confide in them.

Kenji smiled. He knew there were times Usagi really paid attention and all the details she does pick up on go directly into a file cabinet that rarely opens, but sometimes she does open it. "Yes," Kenji confirmed. "His son, Kun Shin, was studying law enforcement like his parents had at K.O. University." He sighed. "Yoshi and Nobuko had also attended that university as well before they had Kun."

Usagi had prepared herself for this line of questioning. "Yes, I remember," she said. "I didn't realize he went to the same university as Mamo." Another lie was told as Mamoru informed her just this morning.

Kenji felt his heart squeeze in his heart knowing what the nickname meant. "Usagi, please, my heart," he said, laying his hand on his chest where his heart was. "Keep the nicknames down to a minimum around me, okay?"

Usagi giggled. "Alright, I'm sorry," she said and then hugged her father. "You know I have plenty of room for both of you in my heart."

Kenji wrapped his arms around her, savoring, and knew what her words meant. Throughout the night, he made himself accept the fact she had given her heart to someone else. He understood what Ikuko said last night. He had to let her spread her wings because he knew it was time, but he knew it was going to be hard. "Come on," Kenji said. "You're mom isn't going to be happy with me if we're both late."

Usagi nodded. "Alright," she said, but she told him what he needed to hear, what she knew will always be the truth no matter how old she gets. "I love you, Dad."

Kenji's heart squeezed. He was aware Usagi had a big heart and would often choose to help those who she deemed needed it most. It started when she disappeared in the hospital while he was obtaining Ikuko's room number. He remembered how scared he was when she had disappeared. He was just thankful she had been found unharmed. "I love you, too, Usagi," he said.

"But what about Officer Shin's son?" Usagi said as she let go.

"Oh, do you think Mamoru knew or had heard of Kun Shin?" Kenji asked.

"I don't know," Usagi said, knowing she was telling another lie and it drove her crazy. "Mamoru is only in his first year at K.O. University; wasn't Kun in second year studying law enforcement?" Usagi thought it was amazing her father had been friends with Kun's parents for years and had never met him formally until last night, but she knew to keep the last part underwraps. She remembered meeting his parents several times over the years, but she had always seemed to have missed him. She now knew it wasn't meant to be, not yet, until the path was laid out.

"That's correct," Kenji said.

"I don't know, Dad," Usagi said, again. "Mamoru's studying medicine, so I don't know if they would have had any classes together." The last part was true; she didn't know if they had any classes together. Though from the way they spoke to each other, she had doubted it.

"Would it be okay if I asked him?" Kenji asked. He knew Ikuko would not like it if he had asked without letting Usagi know he was planning on asking. He wouldn't admit to a soul, but he was just a little afraid of his wife.

"I don't see why not. Just don't interrogate him," Usagi said. She knew Mamoru was prepared for any questions her father may throw at them. Though, now she wondered if it would just be easier if she could just tell her parents who her alter ego is. Usagi decided to table it as she decided she needed to speak to the others.

"Usagi?" Kenji said.

When her father said her name, Usagi looked up and over at him. "Yes?"

"Where did you go?" Kenji asked Usagi. "Are you worried about something?" He raised the girl in front of him, so he knew her better than she thought. He had a feeling there was something going on, other than Mamoru, and didn't want to talk about it.

Usagi smiled. "I just have a lot on my mind," she said. She didn't want to elaborate any more than she had to.

"You know you can talk to me about anything," Kenji told her. "I'm here for you. I love you, Usagi."

"Thank you, Dad," Usagi said. "Let's go see if Mom needs any more help."

Kenji doubted it. By the way Usagi was brushing him off, he knew she didn't want to talk about it anymore. Because of what he did for a living, his instinct was to push because there was something there, but for the peace he knew Usagi needed, he let it go. He also knew Ikuko lived for holding down the fort and had everything under control.

However, Kenji nodded. "Let's go," he said. He let Usagi go down the stairs first and then followed her. When they were on the first floor, they went down the hallway and then took a left into the kitchen.

Kenji and Usagi's eyes connected and then smiled at each other as they looked at the counter which was full of food. They both knew she was the one who was nervous about this lunch even though she was the original one who extended the invitation.

"Everything smells great in here," Kenji said to Ikuko who was putting the last touch on some frosted cookies. He walked up to her after she finished and hugged her from behind to bring her close to him. "What are you going to feed everyone else?" He had fallen on the old joke to make her and ease her worry.

Ikuko took the towel she was holding and hit him with it. "Oh, you," Ikuko said as she turned to lean up to kiss him to settle her nerves even more.

When Ikuko had hit him with the towel, Kenji knew he had succeeded, her nerves had settled. Though she did lean against him just for a moment.

"I'm going to get myself cleaned up," Ikuko said, taking off her own apron and hanging it on the rack next to her daughter's before she turned and walked out of the kitchen to get ready.

xXx

By the time Ikuko was ready and had come back down the stairs, Usagi and Kenji were both on the couch watching the television in the living room. When she was about to say something, there was a knock on the door exactly at one fifty-five.

"Why don't you get the door, Usagi?" Ikuko suggested.

Usagi nodded and then walked around her mom to go answer the door. When she opened the door, Mamoru was on the other side, holding a bouquet of roses. They just stood, staring at each other.

From the entrance to the living room, Ikuko and Kenji lingered and watched them. "Am I seeing what you're seeing?" Kenji asked his wife, quietly.

Ikuko nodded and was very pleased at what she was seeing. "I think whether you like it or not, Kenji, she has found the love of her life," Ikuko answered, speaking just as quietly.

Kenji sighed. "You didn't have to say it," he said.

"Well, you wanted confirmation," Ikuko told him, trying not to laugh at her husband. She cleared her throat and stepped into their view to help the young couple. "Usagi, that's sweet and very thoughtful of him. He got you flowers."

Mamoru smiled and passed the bouquet over to Usagi. "I saw these, and I thought you would like them," he told her.

Usagi took them and leaned up to kiss Mamoru's cheek. "Thank you," she whispered into his ear. If she had kissed him on the lips, she knew it would have been too much for him and for her father.

"Come with me, Usagi," Ikuko said, noticing the way both Kenji and Mamoru were acting. "I'll help you put those in water. The first time a boy gives you flowers is special."

Usagi walked over to her mother as they walked over into the kitchen to place the flowers in water.

"You think you can get away with giving my daughter flowers?" Kenji asked him, very carefully. He watched the boy carefully.

"When I walked past them, they made me think of her," Mamoru told her. Though, if truth be told, he found he could conjure the roses and not transform, but also while he was thinking about Usagi. These roses, however, he did purchase while he was walking by them.

Kenji crossed her arms. "Just so you know that's not going to work every single time with Usagi," he warned the young man.

"I'm well aware of that, sir," Mamoru said, remembering what Kun had said about Kenji this morning. "I am picking up on things about Usagi myself. I do like finding out these little quirks myself."

Kenji sized him up and considered him carefully. "Usagi tells me you want to be a doctor," he said. "At K.O. University."

"I am," Mamoru said. He was prepared for any questions he had pertaining to Kun.

Usagi and Ikuko peeking out from the kitchen. Ikuko sighed. "He's already started," she muttered.

"Started what?" Usagi said.

Ikuko walked away from the door to start to put the food on the table. "Your dad is doing what he does best," Ikuko said.

"Ask questions?" Usagi asked. "Is it about Yoshi Shin's son or about himself?" She turned to look at her mother.

Ikuko sat the food on the table before turning to look at Usagi. "Your father told you he wanted to ask Mamoru about Kun Shin?"

"He did," Usagi said.

"You're okay with that?" Ikuko said.

"You did say that I needed to give them space, so they could form a friendship," Usagi said. She took some plates out of one of the cupboards and sat them on the counter.

Ikuko watched Usagi, realizing her daughter was worried. She understood if she pushed she would get pushed back. She already left the door open and extended her invitation, and based on the conversation she had with Kenji this morning, he had planned on opening the door and extending the invitation. She knew she had to let it go.

"That's a start," Usagi pointed out. "With Mamoru, he does better with figuring out what needs to be done instead of suggesting what should be done."

Ikuko watched her. "But you're still nervous," she said.

"I will never not be," Usagi said as she set the table.

"I felt the same way when your father met your grandfather," Ikuko said. "And you know how close they are."

"I know," Usagi said. "I'll figure it out, Mom."

"Of course, you will," Ikuko said. "You know your feelings, Usagi, and you know them well." She laid her hand on Usagi's face. "Just calm down." She took her daughter into her arms. "I've got you. I've always got you, no matter what happens."

"Thank you, Mom," Usagi said, wrapping her arms around her mother. "I love you." Then hugged her tighter.

Mamoru and Kenji walked in while Usagi and Ikuko were embracing. Mamoru had understood how much Usagi loved her parents, but he didn't realize the scope of how much she loved them until he watched her hold on to Ikuko. It made him wonder how lying to her parents about her other life made her feel. Kenji wasn't the least bit surprised to find his wife and daughter embracing.

Though, Kenji did watch Mamoru carefully. When Kenji noticed Mamoru's eyes softened toward Usagi as the young man watched her, he realized the young man understood his daughter more than he was willing to let on. He was beginning to see what Usagi saw in him.

When Kenji asked him questions about Kun, he yielded the same answers Usagi had provided him. Something told him there was something there, but he didn't know what Usagi and Mamoru knew about Kun Shin's disappearance. He had to put it aside, for now. "Is lunch ready?" Kenji said.

Neither mother nor daughter stepped away from each other. "Everything is perfect," Ikuko told him.

"Not as perfect as you," Kenji informed her.

Ikuko rolled her eyes as the four of them started to make it to the table and started to sit down. Without thinking, Mamoru pulled out Usagi's chair for her which made both Ikuko and Kenji stare at him then glanced at each other. They both were silently impressed, but neither said a word as Mamoru sat down.

"How did the two of you meet?" Ikuko asked as she started passing the food out.

Usagi and Mamoru glanced at each other. They realized they probably should've come up with a few stories to appease her parents.

Kenji stood up. "Okay, that's it. I have had enough," he said, finally angry enough to confront them about the lies he knew he was being fed. "I am tired of being handed either a lie or half-truth. I want the whole thing."

"Kenji," Ikuko said, as a warning.

"Ikuko, we already know Usagi has been doing both, and we let it slide because she had fallen way into depression. We both know it's because of Mamoru," Kenji said to Ikuko, gesturing toward him. "She has been lying or giving a half truth for months, and then they gave me the same answers about Kun Shin." Now, he gestured to them. "They both know something about Kun Shin, about Neph Sanjouin, about Jae Taitou, and about Zoi Saitou. I want to know what it is."

Usagi and Mamoru stared at Kenji as the names left his mouth. "Did you just say…?" Usagi started and then looked at Mamoru as realization hit both of them like a freight train. "Jadeite and Zoisite?" She knew that Kun was short for Kunzite and Neph short for Nephrite.

"That is my theory, too," Mamoru said. "It's too much of a coincidence for the names not to be them."

Kenji gave them a look of confusion. "Isn't that the first and the third person Sailor Moon and her friends had fought for months?" he asked. He was an editor, so of course, he would have the names of the generals who she has been fighting against. "Why do you know their names, Usagi?" He knew this wasn't something Usagi would normally be interested in and wouldn't have this knowledge in her possession.

Usagi and Mamoru nodded at each other, agreeing they needed to inform her parents about what has been happening the last several months because her father would be a very valuable source in anything Dark Kingdom. "Mom." Usagi looked over at her mom and then at her dad. "Dad, I am Sailor Moon."

"And I am Tuxedo Mask," Mamoru said, threaded his fingers with hers giving her the confidence she needed. "Her counterpart in every sense of the word, and I wouldn't trade her for anything." He kissed her hand.

"We will tell you everything you want to know, Dad," Usagi said. "If you tell us what you know about Jae Taitou and Zoi Saitou. We think they are Jadeite and Zoisite." Usagi knew Luna wasn't happy when she came home and realized what she did, but it couldn't have been helped.

xXx

(Sunday Afternoon)

Queen Beryl was really getting upset. It has now been over twenty-four hours since she had heard from Kunzite and over thirty-six hours since she had heard from her dark prince, Prince Endymion. She really wanted to know where her prince and her favorite general, well, alive general, were. She couldn't afford anymore of her lackeys disappearing.

Queen Beryl sighed as flicked her hand and wrist which made a large ice cube where she had trapped Jadeite months ago appeared in front of her. She really didn't want to do this, but she didn't see any way around this. It really was her last option, her only option now.

With another flick of Queen Beryl's wrist, the ice cube disappeared, and Jadeite fell down to the ground gasping for breaths between the coughing fits.

"My queen," Jadeite said between coughing and gasping for air.

"Kunzite has disappeared," Queen Beryl said, not caring that her subordinate was still coughing. "Nephrite and Zoisite are both dead. I want you to find Kunzite." She flicked her wrist again and a photo appeared in her hand. She threw it at him. "And this is Prince Endymion, my Dark Prince."

Jadeite caught the photo without a problem. He took a look at it. "But this is Tuxedo Mask?" he asked. He recognized him by his build and facial features.

"I woke him as I did you and the other generals," Queen Beryl explained. "Just find them, Jadeite, and you'll be handsomely rewarded."

"Yes, my queen," Jadeite said, kneeling.

"And Jadeite, do not engage with the princess or her Sailor Guardians," Queen Beryl said, knowing how this particular general's personality and temper. "You only get this one chance. If you don't do as I said, I will let them kill you without a second thought. Do you understand me?"

Queen Beryl flicked her wrist again because she knew her general needed to know who not to engage with. She threw two more pictures. "These are the remaining Sailor Guardians. Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus." She flicked her wrist once again and another picture appeared in her hand. She threw it at him. "This is also the princess who also happens to be Sailor Moon has finished gathering her team."

Jadeite caught all of the pictures thrown at him. "My queen, I know the identities of Sailors Moon, Mercury, and Mars," he stated. He wanted to remind her of the fact they could gain the upper hand now.

"I haven't forgotten," Queen Beryl said. She didn't care to have that information at that moment. "But you know your assignment, Jadeite. Find them at once."

"Yes, my queen," Jadeite said bowing. "I will find them right away." He teleported from the room and away from the eyes of Queen Beryl. He knew exactly what he wanted to do and to hell with the consequences.
