The Sorcerer Hero: Deku
Chapter thirty-six: Total War, part two
The students of U.A. who were able to attack at a distance launched attacks over the wall surrounding their campus to take out the undead looking quirk forged monsters. A good number of those monsters fell, but the numbers seemed legion. Even Izuku was noted to not be able to deal with the Black Paladins as easily as he had been seen doing in the past.
"What's wrong, Deku?!" Bakugo barked, "You should have swept half of these undead looking motherfuckers by now!"
"I'm still feeling weird after I had woken up this morning, Kacchan!" Izuku called back, taking out another Black Paladin in the process. Izuku seemed to be catching up, ever so slowly, to his usual level of ease in being able to deal with the undead looking horrors that the League of Villains had unleashed upon U.A.
While the students who could attack at a range fought to slay the undead looking quirk forged monsters outside of their school's walls, those who didn't have said luxury worked to support the ones who did. The support course students were setting up defenses, with Yaoyorozu using her quirk to make good use of her considerable obesity to spawn what all materials the support course students needed to build the defenses.
Jiro and Hagakure when they went to check on Yaoyorozu saw that she had slimmed down considerably after having spawned so much material for the support course students to make use of. Yaoyorozu looked to clock in at about one-hundred and twenty-five kilograms, half of the two-hundred and fifty kilograms that she had gotten up to after her quirk evolved. "Wow, you sure are putting your quirk into overdrive, Momo," Jiro said.
"This is nothing," Yaoyorozu replied, "I also had a similarly easy time spawning the unique things that Midoriya had brought to me, once they were examined and their chemical compositions had been learned. The only reason I've lost a lot of weight is due to the sheer amount of material I had to spawn for the support course students to use to make the defenses to defend U.A."
"I guess that means we gotta keep you fed if we don't wanna run out of supplies!" Mei Hatsume called out as she came speeding over on a golf cart with a supply wagon attached to the end, "By the way, we need more metal slabs! The usual kind and amount!"
Yaoyorozu nodded in understanding before spawning half a dozen metal slabs, all three feet long by three feet wide and about one inch thick. Jiro thought that she saw Yaoyorozu's still notable belly, though not as notable as before, shrink ever so slightly after making those metal slabs which Mei was already loading up into her cart's wagon with help from other support course students who had come running up to the scene.
After the metal slabs were taken away by Mei and her crew, Jiro, Hagakure, and Yaoyorozu heard some explosions from outside of the wall surrounding U.A. "We're blasting these undead looking motherfuckers nonstop!" Bakugo could be heard yelling, "But they won't stop coming!"
"Izuku! Over there!" Ochaco could be heard yelling, "There's another Black Paladin!"
"I'm on it!" Izuku could be heard yelling before he wad heard zooming off in the air. Blasts of fire and lightning were heard before Izuku was heard yelling out, "Got it!"
Jiro and the girls with her could only look on with worried expressions on their faces. "...Yaoyorozu," Jiro said, "Be honest with me. What do our odds look like?"
Yaoyorozu was about to speak up, but stopped short when an avian looking man landed on the top of the U.A. wall. Wielding an awesome looking bow, he pulled an arrow from his quiver, put it on the bow string, pulled, and loosed it, creating a minor shockwave on impact that destroyed several of the lesser undead looking quirk forged monsters. "Damn," the avian looking man scoffed, muttering to himself too quietly for anyone else to hear, "If only I had my good equipment that I had left with my bud Momonga..."
"Excuse me, sir!" Jiro called out, getting the avian looking man to turn to face her, "Although we are grateful for the help, we'd still like to know who you are!"
"The owner of a mature hostess club located within the usual grounds where Majestic and his sidekicks like to patrol," replied the avian looking man, "I'm also an archer par excellence, if you need someone to snipe the undead for you!"
Bakugo flew over, using his quirk to keep himself aloft by releasing explosions from his hands. "This birdman guy just took out a group of several of the lesser undead looking quirk forged monsters with just one arrow that blew up after shooting a zombie in the head. I say we let him stay and help us kill these monsters that those League of Villains motherfuckers sicced on U.A.!"
"Do you need anything, avian man sir?" Hagakure asked.
"More arrows!" replied the avian looking man as he held his bow up. Yaoyorozu used her quirk to spawn arrows for the avian looking man, a bundle of which that Tsuyu brought up to him. "Your robed fellow who's flying and shooting fire and lightning," the avian looking man began as he looked to where Izuku was still raining down destruction on the undead, "He looks... interesting."
"Oh, you mean Midoriya?" Tsuyu asked, "I'd say he's bar none the strongest in our class, sir. He's killed so many Black Paladins kero."
Under the self-made mask he wore covering the upper half of his face, the avian looking man arched a wry eyebrow before he said, "Black Paladins?"
Tsuyu pointed to where Izuku was blasting a Death Knight with fire until it was destroyed. "See? He just destroyed a Black Paladin," Tsuyu said.
The avian looking man became even more confused. Why were the students referring to the Death Knights as Black Paladins? There was no time as the avian looking man had no idea what was going on. Until he got details, he was going to stick to helping the kids whose school is surrounded by loads of low to mid level undead monsters from YGGDRASIL.
The avian looking man couldn't help but wonder if another player from that game had somehow ended up here. He was also intrigued by the boy identified as Midoriya, his purple robe that he wore reminded him of an old friend of his. He was going to get to the bottom of this, one way or another.
Over near Endeavor's hero agency building, two of Dabi's six giant bodyguards, Usagi the Rabbit-Earred Giantess and Felgrand the Dragon of Destruction, were brutally assaulting the agency building of Japan's current (official) number one hero. Usagi was spinning like a top with her arms out at different points to form a four point diamond, she also had her fists enlarged and encased in spheres of rainbow colored light energy.
Meanwhile, Felgrand flew on the other side of Endeavor's agency building opposite of Usagi, firing sonic screams and fire breath weapons in and out at regular intervals. Felgrand looked to be conjuring a gale blast of wind to cast at Endeavor's agency building, but he and Usagi both stopped short when a pair of female voices called out, "Hold it!"
The two currently present giants of Dabi's both turned to see it as Mirko and Ryukyu, the latter in her dragon form, came rushing in. They were also joined by Mt. Lady, on whose left shoulder Mirko was riding on like a shoulder pet. Surprisingly, both giant villains stopped and gave the high ranking lady pro heroes their full attention.
"Damn it," Mirko said, "Where's the boys in the Top Ten with me and Ryukyu when we need them? Even one of Dabi's six giant bodyguards is too much for the three of us to handle alone, but we got two in the same place at the same time?!"
"I got it over the comm devices from Edgeshot that he, the other guys in the Top Ten, and some of the teacher pro heroes from U.A. had found Dabi and some of his fellows and went to confront him," explained Mt. Lady.
Turning to look at Usagi and Felgrand, Mirko said, "So it's the three of us versus the two of them. Great, we're too fucked in this match up to stand a chance."
Ryukyu took note of how Usagi and Felgrand were focusing on her, Mirko, and Mt. Lady, and weren't actively doing any fighting or destruction. "...But they aren't attacking us right now," said the Dragon Hero, "It's like when Majestic and I had the dragon villain's attention a while ago."
"Maybe we can reason with them?" Mt. Lady asked.
Mirko was about to speak up, but she was cut off when Gigantomachia came barreling in and rammed into Mt. Lady, knocking her over and sending Mirko flying. Ryukyu moved to fly in to catch Mirko, but surprisingly Usagi shot a long tongue out, wrapped it around Mirko, and pulled her close before letting the Rabbit Hero go and setting her in her upper left hand. Usagi then set Mirko down gently on the roof of a building.
Mt. Lady tried getting up, but Gigantomachia was right on top of her, and he proceeded to pummel her in the back and back of her head while she was down. "Oh shit!" Mirko swore, "Mt. Lady!"
As if responding to Mirko's panicked worry for Mt. Lady, Usagi ran in and struck Gigantomachia away with four enlarged fists encased in spheres of rainbow colored light energy. With the very large and up until now unseen giant villain thrown away from the scene, Mirko and Ryukyu were both able to see it as Mt. Lady's body shrank back down. Ryukyu picked Mirko up and together they went down to see how Mt. Lady was doing.
Mirko ran to check for a pulse, but when she got close enough she stopped short upon seeing the damage to Mt. Lady's head. "...She's dead," Mirko said, looking horrified, "That new giant villain had killed her."
"And the giant villain with rabbit ears like you attacked the new giant villain to give us cover," Ryukyu said as she looked up. Usagi came walking over, looking down at where the female heroes stood on the ground. Likewise, Felgrand came flying over and looked down at them. To the surprise of Mirko and Ryukyu, Usagi and Felgrand were not attacking them. They seemed to actually hold Mirko and Ryukyu in high regard, judging by the looks of admiration the giant villains were giving them.
Mirko was about to speak up, but she was cut off when a hailstorm of large hunks of rubble came flying in and crashed down into her and Ryukyu, making the giant villains fall back to avoid the attack. Usagi and Felgrand turned to look in the direction of where the storm came from and saw Gigantomachia had thrown a bunch of rubble. "Must... must kill as many heroes as possible..." said Gigantomachia, "...Master's successor... wants to wipe out... as many heroes as possible..."
Felgrand landed and used Earth Flow to move the rubble away. When he did, both he and Usagi saw it that Mirko and Ryukyu were both crushed beyond any chance of survival by the heavy hail; Ryukyu had even reverted to her human form. "Two more... heroes dead..." Gigantomachia said when he saw that the two female pro heroes in the current Top Ten were both dead, "...Master's successor... will be very hap-"
*ROAR*
"AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"
Gigantomachia was cut off when Usagi and Felgrand screamed and roared at him, right before they both went on him to attack him without mercy. Usagi slugged Gigantomachia with her enlarged fists encased in spheres of rainbow colored light energy, slugging him at too fast a speed for the very large villain to defend against. Worsening Gigantomachia's ability to defend even more was when Felgrand used Overhaul to blow up the whole of Gigantomachia's right arm.
Gigantomachia howled in pain as he fell back, landing on his back in a ground shaking thud as Usagi and Felgrand kept on him, still raging against him. Gigantomachia was eventually killed when Felgrand made half of his head (the right half) blow up by using Overhaul again. As Gigantomachia's large lifeless form laid there, Usagi and Felgrand turned around and went to where the remains of Mirko and Ryukyu laid.
The two giant villains picked up the dead top ranking female heroes, carried them with respect, and made their way out of the city to a secluded location in a forest area.
Over at Ketsubutsu, Ms. Joke was running around as she was helping with getting as many people out of the danger zone as possible. A portion of the wall around Ketsubutsu was broken down when Dabi's giant bodyguards, Ratatoskr the Memorial Guard Squirrel and Nekohime the Sun-Hunting Feline Beast, had came crashing on through, letting in not only the cat girl giant and the squirrel boy giant, but also loads of the undead looking quirk forged monsters.
Many of Ketsubutsu's finest were working overtime just to give those helping with evacuating others to safety as much cover as possible to do their job. Ms. Joke was worried; her quirk was useless on the undead looking quirk forged monsters, and she highly doubt that it would work on either of the two giant villains that had just shown up. All that Ms. Joke could do was help with the evacuation duties to get others to safety.
What really scared Ms. Joke was just how effective in combat Nekohime was being. It was as if she thrived in daytime hours; it's probably why she was known as the Sun-Hunting Feline Beast. Nekohime hissed at a group of pro heroes who worked as teachers at Ketsubutsu, spraying them all with acid she hissed from her mouth at them. The pink colored rocky female giant villain coated a lot of Ketsubutsu teachers in acid that began corroding them, making them cry in pain.
Things here were an utter nightmare. Two unstoppable behemoths attacking Ketsubutsu, crashing down some of the wall surrounding the school so that the undead looking quirk forged monsters could swarm on in. The giants attacked the main school building itself while the fodder force of the living dead attacked everyone outside who wasn't on their side. Ms. Joke even saw two students killed by a Black Paladin get back up and attack their former allies.
How in blazes were the heroes going to stand up to this? Why can't they just let the heroes simply surrender to them? Ms. Joke would be among the first to agree to surrender to Dabi and his forces, if only to stop this nightmare. That was no joke; Ms. Joke seriously believed that the only way for society to get out of this alive is to just roll over and let Dabi take over the show. She would admit it that the heroes simply just cannot win here.
The villains won. They had already won since long before today.
As Ms. Joke just saw off the latest escape shuttle, she was confronted by two male villains working under Dabi, Katsukame and Chimera. "You, hero lady," Katsukame said, "You gonna come peacefully or do we have to beat you until you surr-" Katsukame stopped short when he and Chimera both began to laugh uncontrollably, due to Ms. Joke using her quirk to incapacitate them so she could get the he'll out of there.
Aside from being outnumbered two to one, and with the two being a pair of big tall strong looking guys compared to the average height slender Ms. Joke who was the one, Ms. Joke was at her wit's end. She just couldn't fathom trying to do anything else, not with how freaked out she was right now. The comedic pro hero could only hope that Dabi and his forces will be willing to leave enough of society alive for it to still function.
Ms. Joke also wouldn't mind getting to throw herself into Shouta Aizawa's arms and cry into his chest as he made her feel better.
Ainz decided to spare the male teachers from U.A. the fate of being used as bases for making more Death Knights. He also planned to resurrect them later because Izuku and his peers at U.A. would be needing their teachers. But Nemuri and the male Top Ten heroes, aside from Fat Gum who Ainz still needed to test a theory, were still up for debate as far as Ainz was concerned.
Ainz had the bodies of the dead pro heroes that would be used as bases for making more Death Knights taken to Nazarick, he told Demiurge and Albedo to keep the bodies safe until he could come back for them for a plan he had. Ainz did, however, exclude Endeavor's body for the goal of using it to cow resisting heroes into submission. Dabi was amused at the idea of Endeavor's body tied to a post and waived around like a macabre trophy to scare the remaining heroes into yielding.
Ainz also had the bodies of heroes he planned to resurrect later taken to Nazarick as well, but said to keep that group separate from the group he intended to use as bases for Death Knights. Once all of the bodies were cleared, Ainz said, "Well now, I do believe that we're about to take over Japan, my good man Dabi. How's it feel knowing you're going to be the country's next ruler?"
"Wait, I thought that you would rule Japan after we conquer it, Lord Ainz," Spinner said, looking very mildly surprised.
"That's the real truth," Ainz said, "But Dabi will be a public face. As far as Japan as a whole will be aware, I won't exist."
Shrugging, Dabi said, with a hint of knowing sarcasm in his tone, "Well I can't think of very many ways that count as 'surpassing All Might' than becoming the ruler of the nation he lives in. He'll have to bend knee and bow head to me if I'm his emperor. Heh, wouldn't daddy be proud."
Ainz was about to speak up, but was interrupted when Shalltear, in her winged red armor and she was also wielding her Spuit Lance, came flying in. "Ah, Honyopenyoko," Spinner greeted with a salute to convey respect to her; he knew better than to not be respectful to the vampire. "Do you have anything for Lord Ainz?"
"I just got word from that Beros girl that Usagi and Felgrand killed Gigantomachia," Shalltear said, "Apparently as a result of him killing the pro heroes Mirko and Ryukyu. Usagi and Felgrand then took the bodies of Mirko and Ryukyu and ran off with them. I have no idea what Usagi and Felgrand are going to do with them, nor do I know where the dead heroes were taken off to."
"Ryukyu has been killed?" Ainz said, "Shit, she's actually fairly valuable to my goals!" Ainz also felt that an old friend of his would never forgive it if a pro hero who was noted to have done a lot of work with kids on the autism spectrum was killed and allowed to remain dead. Ainz also had a fair amount of respect for the Dragon Hero.
"And did Usagi and Felgrand really kill Gigantomachia?" Dabi asked, looking surprised.
Nodding once, Shalltear said, "Should Usagi and Felgrand be punished?"
"No, on the contrary," Ainz replied, "Gigantomachia had crossed a line by killing a valuable asset that I had laid claim to. Besides, I could never make him truly submit to my rule, I had to keep using Dabi as a proxy to control Gigantomachia."
Shrugging, Dabi said, "Yeah, not gonna lie, I didn't like having to deal with that big lug anyway. If Lord Ainz here said the killing of Gigantomachia is alright, then I won't complain."
Gesturing to Shalltear, Ainz said, "Find Usagi and Felgrand. Tell them that Ryukyu, and Mirko as well I suppose, can both be saved and that you need them to lead you to them. Collect the bodies of the dead heroes and take them to a safe location until they can be saved later. Don't do anything to punish either Usagi or Felgrand, the two of them actually did what I would have done if I had been present over there."
Shalltear nodded in understanding before she flew off. After Shlltear was gone, Spinner said, "Wait a minute, Lord Ainz." When Ainz turned to look at Spinner and Dabi, both looking at him in surprised confusion, Spinner went on, "What do you mean by 'saving Ryukyu and Mirko'? Aren't they both dead now because of Gigantomachia?"
Ainz turned to look at Spinner and Dabi. "Oh boys..." Ainz began, "...You would be very surprised to learn what all I am capable of. Heh heh heh..."
There was a large number of pro heroes in Kamino Ward, fitting given it's the location of another fierce battle, this one seeing the appearance of Frieren the Magic Collecting Steed and Inumaru the Moon-Hunting Canine Beast. There was also swarms of the undead pop monsters from Nazarick, and although the pro heroes were able to handle the skeletons and zombies just fine, not one of the Death Knights at Kamino Ward has fallen in battle.
In fact, several pro heroes slain by Death Knights had gotten back up and attacked their still living former allies. And this is to say nothing about the number of Paranormal Liberation Army soldiers that were in the mix, helping to manage the undead and keep them focused on the heroes. Standing back and directing everything was Skeptic and Rappa, who both stood with Sasuke Sengoku the oni samurai from the attack on the provisional licence exams.
"Soon this whole nation shall be under the sway of our lord," Sasuke said, arms folded over his chest, "Then we can start implementing our ideals into the law of the land."
"I got it that the boss is making sure that minors won't get hurt," Rappa said.
"There can be no guarantees of preventing anyone under adult age from dying," Sasuke said grimly, "But our lord has taken steps to reduce the odds of that as much as possible by keeping all of the hero students in this nation from being able to join the battle. He is not one to let minors die if he can help it."
Rappa turned to look back at the fighting. "...Yeah, with fighting this wide spread all over Japan, I have no doubt at least one brat is gonna wanna join the fray. Especially if it's a brat from one of the hero academies in this country."
Over where the giants were fighting, Inumaru lunged forwards towards a group of pro heroes and snapped his maw at them, actually catching a few in his bite. Already he has a powerful bite, but his bite strength is further bolstered by his Steel Jaws quirk. He also had his Septic Bite quirk active when he bit those heroes he snapped up, so they were going to be in trouble even if they survive being mauled by the Moon-Hunting Canine Beast.
Inumaru saw a group of heroes charging at him, so he loosed a spine chilling howl in their direction, the sound wave traveling all over the battlefield that Kamino Ward had become once again. But only those directly in front of Inumaru tensed up out of fright, struck to their very cores. They all stood helplessly paralyzed by fright as Inumaru ran right at them on all fours, clawing and biting as he was running wild through all of the frightened heroes.
Whereas Inumaru was fighting like a wild wolf, Frieren was casting all manner of attacks with her various quirks that made it seem like she was a wizard who was spamming attack spells. Fire and ice, bolts of electricity in the shape of grand arrows, levitating objects to hurl at the heroes, laser beams, concussive blasts of rainbow colored light energy, conjured energy rings, and she even had hammers spawn from her back to rain down on the heroes.
Frieren saw a group of pro heroes fire ranged quirk attacks at her, so she conjured an energy barrier that blocked the assault. She then reached to the ground and touched it with her hand, sending a wave of softening ground right at the heroes. They were surrounded and stuck in the softened ground, at which point Frieren stomped over until she reached the trapped heroes, turned around, and fell down so her butt slammed down onto them, crushing many of them.
Sucking in a cringing breath, Skeptic said, "Yeesh! That super fat golden elf girl giant with the horns just crushed a bunch of heroes with her colossal ass."
"I think that they're the lucky ones," Rappa remarked, "The dog boy giant can scare people into inaction with a howl, then run up and claw at and bite them. And that bite not only looks strong, but also right nasty as well."
As he saw Frieren stand herself back up, Sasuke said, "They had been blessed with power from our lord, my good men. Should it be any wonder that they are so strong?"
Pointing at Inumaru, Skeptic said, "Did our lord really have to make that dog boy giant so damn scary? I wasn't even in the range of its howl just now and it still scared me."
Sasuke let out an amused huff. "That is just a sign that our lord knows what he is doing. After all, he's already succeeded in conquering loads of other lands. He has the necessary experience to get the job done here." Both Skeptic and Rappa looked surprised by what Sasuke said; did the real big boss already take over various other lands? And if so, when? There's not much of a matter of how as they know Ainz is OP as all get out.
So when did Ainz conquer other lands? And where are said lands?
Toshinori was in a conference room at a police station set up like a war room. He was there with Gran Torino, Naomasa, and a few other persons of interest. "Where is Endeavor?!" exclaimed one policeman, "Dabi, Spinner, and a robed hooded fellow wearing a mask are marching towards the capital building with an army of those undead looking quirk forged monsters!"
"Endeavor... is dead," one policewoman said in a defeated, relenting tone, drawing shocked looks out of everyone especially Toshinori, Gran Torino, and Naomasa. "Yeah," the policewoman went on, "He was killed by Dabi. Endeavor's corpse is now crucified to a large thick plank of wood and being carried by some of the undead looking quirk forged monsters. Like a grim trophy they're going to be waiving around as they continue their march."
"Endeavor..." Naomasa said, "...Japan's number one hero... dead..."
"Wait, other heroes were with him!" Toshinori said, "What about them?"
Gently shaking her head, the policewoman said, "As far as I was able to get word on, only the other male heroes in the current Top Ten were with Endeavor. All of them are reported to be dead as well."
The others in the police war room were despairing over so many of Japan's top ranking heroes all being killed. "Hang on, hang on, hang on," Gran Torino said, "There's no way that Dabi could have killed so many notable pro heroes, even with his right hand man Spinner backing him up."
"That robed hooded fellow wearing a mask," Naomasa said, "He may have helped."
"But who is he exactly?" Toshinori asked rhetorically.
Cracking his neck, Gran Torino said, "Let's gather as many heroes as possible and find out."
...
The march that Ainz was making towards the capital building of Japan could not be stopped. What few persons who could fight back were killed by the Death Knights that made up the front of the battalion, and those slain by the Death Knights got back up and joined the ranks due to the passive power of the Death Knights. Essentially, Ainz's procession was only getting stronger and stronger as they made their way towards total domination over Japan.
It wasn't just Ainz, Dabi, and Spinner who were riding with the undead army; they were also joined by Aura and Mare. Any one who tried to attack Ainz would be caught by the dark elf twins and killed before they could even carry out the attack on the Sorcerer King. "I take it that your little ones here are elites, Lord Ainz?" Spinner asked.
"Ah yes, Aura and Mare are quite talented despite their age," Ainz said.
Looking to Aura, Dabi said, "Well young man, you have certainly impressed the big man here."
"Thank you," Aura replied, "Also, I'm a girl."
Holding up a hand, Mare said, "I'm a boy, just so you know."
As Dabi and Spinner had surprised looks on their faces that bordered on comical, the procession stopped when a few heroes rushed in with speed quirks to try attacking Ainz and his group. Among those heroes was Gran Torino. "So, hooded robed man in the mask," Gran Torino said, "You're a big player for the League of Villains, ehh?"
END, CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the forces of good try to fight back against the forces of Nazarick in what's turning out to be an all out war. Although the good guys see some degree of success, Ainz and all that he's bringing to the table is seeing a LOT more success by compassion.
A bunch of notable heroes, including all of the current Top Ten, are killed, although Ainz has plans to resurrect some choice heroes. There's also how the hero academies are surrounded so that the hero students can't join the main fighting, and now Ainz is making his way to Parliament to make an undoubtedly sinister claim.
But that march is interrupted by Gran Torino leading a group of speed quirk users. How will they fare when they confront the leader of the forty-one Supreme Beings? Find out later when things resume in the next chapter.
