Resident Evil Modern Warfare II: Operation Deadbolt

Chapter 28

Jill and Soap sit in a bar to celebrate after the one from Deadbolt HQ. The two were having shots of whiskey and a smoke after a long and stressful effort.

"Here's to saving the world from a zombie outbreak. Again" said Soap raising a glass.

"Yeah, again." said Jill having a puff.

Laswell then arrives holding a file and tablet.

"Glad to see you kids made it out alright."

"Good to see ya too Kate." said Soap.

"The CIA owes you both big time. Along with some friends."

Laswell shows them both a zoom call with Farah and Alex on the other side.

"Sergeant MacTavish, Jill Valentine."

"Farah, right?" Jill responded.

"I owe you both everything for saving my country after a plague nearly poisoned it. You have my eternal thanks." Farah said.

"It's our job" Jill explained.

"You both fighting zombies back to back, figured you both will be taking a well earned vacation." said Alex.

"I wish but we're due back in New York. Makarov isn't done with us yet. Especially after Jill killed his men during all this." Soap explained.

"Maybe afterwards, you both get some rest. Take care." said Farah hanging up.

"If only we were able to take down Zakhaev and Fletcher" said Soap.

"That's where I come in. CIA managed to track them both down in the states. However they're not working alone. Someone managed to reach them before we could. Someone new"

Kate placed the file and opens it showing a picture of of the two along with a woman. This however perked up Jill's attention.

"We don't know her name"

Jill points at the woman as she says,

"She's not new."

Jill hands the file to Soap as he looks too.

"Who is she?" Kate asks.

Jill leans over

"Ada Wong"

"Oh and about that favor you called in? Ghost helped me to allow Dr. Jansen to set her up with a new job at the BSAA. She'll be in good hands" said Kate.

Several Months Later, West Virginia

Ava Jansen gets a phone call in her hotel room.

"Ah, checking up on your daughter?"

"I, uh, wanted to say hello...To ask, uh, how you are doing." said Ravenov.

"I'm on my best behavior. Promise"

Ava was going through files of something called "Project Janus". She saw photos, writeups, and blueprints of some sort of machine and one of it's director. A man named Edward Richtofen. It was all for an incident in a small town named "Liberty Falls".

"No, No. A lot has happened. It has taken a while to...process it all." said Ravenov

"Process it all? Who are you and what have you done with Ravenov?"

The two share a laugh.

"So, what are your plans? What is next for Dr. Jansen?" he asked.

"You are checking up on me" Ava smiled while looking herself in the body mirror.

As she leaves a shadowy figure formed from within the mirror.

"Ava..."

"Chill out! I'm glad you called. I tried the vacation. I really did, but I needed to keep my mind occupied. I kept thinking about Miller's report. I'm visiting the site of the localized incursion she survived as a child. Liberty Falls is even more of a one horse town than I suspected." she explained.

This caused Ravenov to panic.

"Bozhe moi! Ava. Listen. You must leave that place. It is not safe." he urged her.

Ava took in a deep breath as she felt the Dark Aether's influence affect her as a hand began to reach out from the body mirror.

"Ava" a whisper of voices called out to her.

"Are you there? Ava?" Ravenov calls out.

She goes to the mirror to reach back at the hand.

"Mother? is that you?"

The hand then grabbed her forearm and pulled her in back to the Dark Aether leaving her cellphone in the room, dropping on the floor.

"Ava, Ava, AVA!" Ravenov shouts to no response.
