Chapter 10 - In the Name of the Moonstone, Ashi will Punish ya Deadbeats!
Ashi clung tightly to Leon as they soared through the air with breathtaking speed, weaving between Raihan and Steven who were scanning the ground below for any signs of Team Rocket and the stolen meteorite. The lush green landscape passed by in a blur beneath them as they raced towards their targets. Suddenly, Ashi's eyes caught sight of something large hurtling down a makeshift sled, with a familiar trio perched on top. "There they are!" she exclaimed, pointing in their direction.
Determined to catch up to the thieves and retrieve the stolen meteorite, Leon urged Charizard to fly even faster. The rushing wind whipped through Ashi's hair, but she paid it no mind as her adrenaline-fueled determination pushed her forward. As they closed in on their targets, Jessie, James, and Meowth looked back in alarm at the approaching trainers.
"I can't believe those twerps caught up so quickly!" Jessie shrieked, urging their makeshift sled to go faster over the rocky terrain. But they were not alone in their pursuit. With Raihan and his Flygon hot on their tail, Team Rocket's plan to escape was quickly unraveling. "You think you can outrun us so easily? Think again!" Raihan's voice echoed through the air as he urged his Flygon to go even faster.
"Hah! We'll see about that! Koffing, Sludge Attack!" Jessie called out, sending thick globs of toxic sludge hurtling towards the trainers. But Raihan was quick to react, commanding his Flygon to intercept the attack with its Dragon Tail.
Flying in from the other side was Steven and his Skarmory who swooped in from an unexpected angle, cutting off any potential escape routes for Team Rocket. "Skarmory, use Steel Wing!" commanded Steven, his voice slicing through the noise as his steel-type Pokemon descended towards the thieves. Its metallic wings glowed with power as it launched a barrage of razor-sharp strikes, forcing Team Rocket to frantically dodge and weave their sled to avoid being hit.
Meanwhile, Ashi and Leon were closing in from above, their Charizard descending rapidly towards Team Rocket. But just as Leon was about to command the Fire-type to unleash his own attack, Ashi noticed the ground below stirring. She realized that Brock's Onix was lurking just beneath the surface, poised for an attack. Suddenly, with a deafening roar, the massive Pokemon emerged, catching Team Rocket off guard and causing them to scream in panic as their sled collided into the sturdy creature.
The others rushed over to join the scene with Leon and everyone landing near the trio. "Good work, buddy. That'll teach them!" exclaimed Brock when he came to where his Pokemon was and heard his Onix rumble proudly. With all the trainers surrounding Team Rocket on all sides, their Pokemon standing tall and ready to prevent any chance of escape.
"It's over, Team Rocket. Surrender now and face the consequences," declared Ashi firmly, leaping off Charizard's back with her mana slowly seeping out as she marched towards the trembling duo. The severity of what they had done sunk in and Ashi was more determined than ever to make them pay for their actions.
Toshi picked up on his sister's heightened emotions and saw the tell-tale signs of what was about to happen. He immediately paled at the thought of what may come next. "Oh magikarp! We need to take cover!" he exclaimed, quickly grabbing Misty and Brock's hands and pulling them away from the impending chaos that was about to unfold.
Misty, sensing Toshi's urgency, thought to herself (Not again!) and pulled away with Brock, both of them now understanding the seriousness of the situation. Raihan and Leon, who saw Ashi stepping in front of the group, noticed the unbridled fury written on her face. However, they also saw what was forming behind her - a powerful and terrifying manifestation of a Hannya mask.
"You don't think it's..." trailed off Raihan as his Flygon and other Pokemon backed away in sudden fear. Steven had a hard time trying to calm down his Skarmory, but he felt the Galar trainers knew something he didn't.
Raihan turned to him and simply stated, "Let me put it this way - I don't want to get anywhere near that unless I have a death wish!" This made moves like Scary Face, Snarl, or Leer seem insignificant in comparison. If someone were to create a TM out of this rage-filled manifestation, Arceus help their souls if it ever unleashed upon the world - no, the entire universe! Flygon beneath Raihan shuddered involuntarily, indicating that his Pokemon shared his thoughts. "The Horror...the horror..." muttered Raihan to himself, just thinking of the potential nightmare that could arise.
Steven found it hard to believe until he received confirmation from the Galar Monarch himself, who nodded in agreement with his rival's words. Leon tried to calm his Charizard, who was also cowering in fear at the sight before them. They had encountered something similar before, but never quite as intimidating as this. It was like a primal force, capable of instilling terror even in the bravest of Pokemon.
"This one is different...more intense," Leon remarked, his eyes wide with awe and fear. He never could have imagined that his strongest Pokemon would be overwhelmed by the sheer power emanating from this trainer. Ashi's Hannya mask glowed with an intense aura of malevolence, fueled by her emotions. It seemed to seep into the very air around them, causing all those nearby to feel its effects.
"Toshi said there were thirteen manifestations of these things, but the last one wasn't this terrifying. This must be numero trece!" Raihan exclaimed, trying to make sense of the situation.
"Actually, it's number eleven. But you're not far off," Toshi corrected him from his hiding spot with Misty and Brock. Aratiri and Sora were there too, seeking refuge from Ashi's overwhelming power. "But trust me, you don't want to get involved when Ashi is like this," Toshi warned. He had only seen her use this level of power when someone or something pushed her to her limits. And in this case, Team Rocket had undoubtedly triggered her fierce defense mechanism. They were surely doomed now; no sympathy was felt for them by anyone present.
Ashi's Hannya mask loomed over Team Rocket with menacing yellow eyes that seemed to pierce through their very souls. Its blood-red face and razor-sharp fangs added to Ashi's already formidable presence. Thunder seemed to rumble in the distance as she approached the trembling trio.
The lesson Ashi had always taught Toshi - the number one rule of being a Dragonslayer: never let anyone cross you and get away with it.
Taking Toshi's warning into consideration, Leon and the others quickly retreated to safety, pulling their Pokemon along with them. Ashi's Hannya mask glowed even brighter as she moved towards Jessie and James, who huddled together in fear.
Meanwhile, Seymour emerged from the hole created by Onix, confused as to why everything had suddenly gone quiet. Even the wildlife seemed to have gone silent. "What's going on her—AHHHHHHHHH? What is that thing?!" he screamed in terror as he caught sight of Ashi's terrifying manifestation. The sight alone was enough to make his body go limp and unconsciousness overtake him.
The nearby Clefable and Clefairy were also taken aback by the frightening sight, but they were not the target of Ashi's rage. She focused solely on Team Rocket, her glowing face markings and menacing presence bearing down on them.
Each step she took seemed to make the earth tremble and shake beneath them, mirroring their own uncontrollable trembling. Ashi was a force to be reckoned with, proving what happens when someone dares to cross her. Ashi's eyes blazed with fury as she seethed at Team Rocket. Her voice, usually gentle and kind, was now raw with anger and sounded more like a growl as she let her dragon blood run hot.
"You idiots have really gone and done it this time," she spat, her fists clenched so tight that her knuckles turned white. "If I wasn't such a nice person, I'd personally send you to GIRATINA IN SO MANY FUCKING BODY BAGS THAT IT WOULD TAKE NOTHING LESS THAN A MIRACLE TO PUT YOU BACK TOGETHER! But in this case, a good thrashing should do the trick!"
With a menacing grin on her face, Ashi towered over the cowering members of Team Rocket. She cracked her knuckles loudly, relishing in the fear she instilled in them. It was time to teach these fools a lesson about messing with a Dragonslayer and their friends.
"Wow, sis is really pissed off," Toshi exclaimed, breaking the tense silence that followed Ashi's outburst. "It's not every day she goes and curses someone." The others nodded in agreement, shocked that someone as kind and gentle as Ashi had such a fierce side to her.
"I almost kinda feel sorry for them," Brock mused out loud still reeling the scariness of the situation, "but then again, they were causing trouble for all those Pokemon, especially the Clefairies. So now I say let Ashi give them the beating they deserve!"
Misty stood up suddenly and started shouting towards where Ashi was, surprising everyone. "Hey Ashi, make sure to teach those moronic knuckleheads a lesson they'll never forget! Give them an extra can of whooping for me, okay?" Her unexpected outburst only seemed to invigorate Ashi even more as she gave a nod in their direction without taking her eyes off the trembling Team Rocket members. Sora and Aratiri were leaning forward in anticipation, wishing they had some popcorn to enjoy the upcoming showdown. The rest of the Pokemon were glad to just simply watch and not get pull into this since they were now interest to see what Ashi had in mind for those numbskulls.
Any rational person would have apologized and begged for mercy at this point, but it was clear that Jessie and James were not the sharpest tools in the shed. They still believed Ashi was just bluffing and continued to cower in fear.
"Haha, you think your smoke and mirrors can fool us?" Jessie stuttered, trying to regain some of her confidence. James also added in but feeling his teeth chatter as he yell, "Yeah, we know you're just pretending to be all macho and using some kind of holograph to make that thing appear!" Which they thought was pretty impressive to say the least though had no clue where the tools she used to create such a effective technique.
Ashi's grin widened, showing her sharp teeth as she towered over them. Suddenly, her features seemed more sinister and intimidating to the two frightened fools who quickly realized they should have kept their mouths shut. "Then why am I hearing your heartbeats getting louder and louder?" Ashi taunted, "Is it because you're that eager for a battle? Well then, let's do it!"
Just as Ashi reached for her two Pokeballs to take down the incompetent Team Rocket trio, another familiar pair of Pokemon appeared beside her. It was the tribe leader Clefable and Noibat, who had managed to escape from Seymour's unconscious hold and flew towards Ashi. They landed gracefully beside her, offering their support and solidarity as the two prepared for battle.
"It seems they want a piece of the action too!" Toshi exclaimed excitedly as he recognized the scarred Clefable taking its place beside Ashi as did Noibat who look real eager for some payback against Team Rocket. For a moment, Ashi was taken aback by their intrusion before realizing why they were now taking the lead. She understood that these two saw it as personal since not only did they intrude their home but they also stole something that was very precious to the tribe and were seeking retribution against them.
Ashi smirked as she saw Jessie and James quivering with fear. "Looks like I'm not the only one eager for a pound of flesh," she taunted, gesturing to the Pokemon beside her. "Even these two want to exact their revenge against you. And who am I to deny them that pleasure?"
Jessie and James tried to put on a brave front, but their trembling bodies betrayed them. "Like we'd be scared by a dumb fairy and an ugly Zubat!" Jessie retorted. "Yeah, that's right! It's us they should be afraid of!" James chimed in, trying to sound confident.
"Bring it on then, you bozos!" Ashi challenged with a wicked glint in her eye. "Talk is cheap, so let's see you put your money where your mouth is!"
Everyone watching from the side could feel the tension rising between the two teams, eager for the impending battle. But Jessie and James were clearly outmatched and out of their league. Still, they couldn't back down now. They had come too far to steal that rock and go home empty-handed. With clenched fists and forced courage, they shouted out commands to their Pokemon.
"Ekans, use Acid Spray!/Koffing, use Poison Gas!" However, nothing happened. Confusion crossed their faces before they turned around to look for their Pokemon.
"What the...where are Ekans and Koffing?" They frantically searched until they spotted their Pokemon digging a hole and jumping into it. Ekans used its tail to cover them up while adding some flowers on top in a poor attempt at disguising it. "Are you kidding me? Even you two don't want to fight?" Meowth snarled as he rushed over to unearth his teammates. He kicked them out of the hole and scolded, "Get back up there, or I'll turn you both into Pokemon chow!"
Ekans and Koffing stumbled out of their hiding place and came face to face with Ashi and her Pokemon who were exuding an intimidating presence just like the scowling teen in front of them. "Ekans?" The snake Pokemon wished it had stayed buried while Koffing thought they didn't get paid enough for this gig.
"Don't just stand there, do something!" Jessie yelled, but Ekans and Koffing were still trying to come up with an escape plan. They looked over at their trainers and saw Meowth's fur color. A sly idea formed in their minds, and they turned to each other with a nod. Meowth saw the exchange and assumed his teammates were ready to get back into action. "Oh, so you finally got your—hey, what are you doing?! Put Meowth down this instant!"
But before anyone could stop them, Ekans grabbed Meowth's tail and began shaking him from side to side like a toy rattle. Raihan asked incredulously, "What is going on here?" as he watched this bizarre scene unfold. The others also wondered what was happening until Steven noticed something - the way Ekans kept waving Meowth around in front of Ashi and her team.
"I believe this is their modified version of a white flag," he remarked. The others considered this, as it was true that Meowth's fur was more of a cream color than pure white, but it was likely the closest they could get to conveying 'we surrender'!
"Huh, really? I guess that would make sense now." Toshi mused, realizing that the Rocket's Pokemon may be more inclined to throw in the towel - or in this case, Meowth - rather than try to take on his sister. Even he would have done the same in their place. However, it seemed that their trainers didn't appreciate the thought and began shouting at Ekans and Koffing to stop fooling around.
"Don't just stand there playing around, get in there!" If anyone from HQ were to find out about this - or gasp, the boss - they were sure to be fired or worse, be put on janitorial duty for a full year without any bonus! "Ekans, use Bind on that small runt now!"
"Noibat, dodge and use Quick Attack! Clefable, do the same and increase your agility!" Ashi commanded her team with confidence and precision.
"Koffing, use Sludge Bomb!" As soon as Ashi saw this move being executed, she immediately countered with, "Get out of the way and use Body Slam to knock it back!" The Pokemon quickly evaded the sludge and then followed her command to strike at the gas Pokemon with its full weight, sending it flying like a soccer ball.
"Noibat, use Air Cutter on Ekans while they're distracted!" Ashi directed her team with steady and commanding voice despite the chaos of battle. Seizing the opportunity, Noibat darted through the air with grace and precision before unleashing a powerful Air Cutter at Ekans, landing a direct hit. Ekans hissed in pain as it recoiled from the attack. Koffing, trying to regain its bearings after being slammed into by Clefable but didn't get the chance as it was met with even more force as Clefable jump up into the air and used Pound, causing it to hit the ground hard with its shocked face leaving a deep impression.
"Ooooh that's gonna hurt in the morning for sure," Raihan said as he and everyone witnessed the intense battle. It was clear that Ashi and her team had the upper hand and this fight would be over soon if things continued this way.
"Your sister is really something else you know that," Misty observed with open admiration. Everyone was in awe as they watched Ashi expertly command both wild Pokemon. Even though they were not her own, they followed her every instruction with precision. Toshi, Sora, and Aratiri cheered loudly for their sister/trainer from the sidelines. "Yeah! Go get 'em, sis! Take them down, Noibat, you too Clefable! Give them a left, then a right then another left!"
The battle raged on as Ashi's team fought against Team Rocket and it was clear who would be victorious in this battle. With Noibat darting around the field and using its agility and swiftness to take down Ekans while Clefable kept on double-slapping Koffing and making it spin around and around until it grew dizzy and fell unconscious. It wasn't long before Ekans also suffered a similar fate after Noibat used Crunch to deliver a fatal blow to its opponent.
"Heh, looks like you guys are finished; better start saying your prayers then." But Jessie and James refused to give up, knowing they had one last Pokemon to use: Meowth. Still recovering from being used as a rag doll, Meowth was suddenly grabbed by Jessie and thrown without warning. "Meowth, get your tail in there on the double!"
"Wha—" Meowth now found itself landing in front of the three and feeling their gazes looking down at him full of malice causing him to gulp loudly. "Um can't we just talk this through?"
"You had your chance to back down and I won't give another so…" The grin on Ashi's face was followed by her thumb slashing across her throat. Both Noibat and Clefable mimicked the action with similar grins on their faces, sending a chill down Meowth's spine. "Noi-Noi-Noi/Cle-Cle-Cle!" Sora and Aratiri knew what that meant and were secretly thinking to themselves, sucks to be Meowth then!
As the wild Pokemon unleashed their pent up rage on Team Rocket's Meowth, and everyone saw how they went to town on his sorry tail. It seemed that there would be no mercy shown to the snarky feline, who definitely got what was coming to him. After the two finished toying with him and sent him flying into his teammates with Noibat's Whirlwind, colliding with the dumbstruck James and Jessie and leaving the Meowth battered and bruised with a large bump where its charm used to be.
"Good work there, Noibat. Now let's finish this up!" Noibat, all fired up and ready to proceed with using its most powerful attack, was interrupted by the Clefable leader who simply said "Clefa Fable?"
"Noi," Noibat heard what he was saying before turning to Ashi, indicating to the trainer that the Fairy-type Pokemon wanted dibs on taking out the 'trash'. Ashi didn't need to weigh this request since the Meteor was their stolen property and it was only right for the tribe to deal out the proper punishment. She nodded, saying, "They're all yours!" Then Clefable turned to where the rest of the clan was and motioned for them to join him. Everyone watched as the tiny creatures gathered behind their Clefable, while Ashi and Noibat stepped back, giving them enough room to take matters into their own hands.
Team Rocket eventually untangled themselves and seeing what was happening but had no clue what these Powderpuffs were going to do next. The Clefable raised his hands and pointed two fingers in the air, moving them side to side while chanting "Clefable, Clefable…" Soon the other fairies mimicked him and were doing the same thing while chanting "Clefairy! Clefairy!"
The onlookers were all confused by this display yet felt drawn in as their bodies moved subconsciously, even Raihan's Rotom that was recording everything was doing the same thing. It wasn't until Seymour finally regained consciousness and Toshi saw the scientists coming to and drew his attention.
"Hey Seymour, great to see you're awake. Do you have any idea what they're doing?" He asked, pointing at the Pokemon while still swaying from side to side. Seymour, now also being pulled in but at a much slower pace than the others, immediately knew what this move was. "They're using Metronome," Seymour said. "I've never seen Clefairy use Metronome before. Who knows what will happen?"
Raihan and his Flygon were shifting from side to side, feeling quite dizzy from the experience. He couldn't help but say with his own understanding of it, "Yeah, it's a very unpredictable move that can either give you something powerful or something lame. But if all these Pokemon are doing it, then…"
"Then we might have to be prepared for what's coming!" The Clefable and Clefairies moved in perfect synchronization as their fingers danced through the air, creating a soft glow around them. As the intensity of the glow increased, their power became evident in the form of Hyper Beams. "Oh shit, everyone hit the deck now!" Both trainers and their Pokemon hurried to take cover while the powerful beams flew in random directions.
Misty and Toshi had their hands over theirs heads while Brock was loudly muttering, "I'm in my happy place, I'm in my happy place!" Aratiri and Sora dug a hole big enough for both of them to fit while the other Pokemon searched for something large enough to provide shelter. Raihan and his Flygon lay flat on the ground, along with Steven and his Pokemon. However, Leon noticed one of the beams heading straight towards Ashi and without thinking of his own safety, he rushed out and tackled her like a linebacker before a nearby tree was destroyed by the beam's impact.
Ashi gasped for breath as she lay beneath Leon, with Noibat squished between them. Everyone else was too focused on the light show and constant flashing of Hyper Beams illuminating the sky like crazy. Most of the Clefairies had their beams aimed at Team Rocket, but one was flying towards them with intense force. Before they could move out of harm's way, they were sent flying into the air and disappeared like a shooting star.
"Loooks like Team Rocket is blasting off again!" As the final burst of Hyper Beam faded and the danger subsided, everyone cautiously emerged from their hiding spots to survey the aftermath. Shock overtook them as they took in the devastation caused by the powerful attack. Suddenly, Seymour let out a loud gasp, causing all eyes to turn towards him. His gaze was fixed on what used to be a majestic meteor, now reduced to rubble.
"The Moonstone...it's gone!" Seymour fell to the ground in shock, unable to process this tragedy. The precious rock that meant everything to the Clefairy community was now destroyed before their very eyes. While everyone else mourned over this loss, Toshi felt something land on his shoulder. Then another, and another. He turned to see what it was and couldn't believe his eyes. "Guys, look up there!"
Leon was helping Ashi to her feet when Toshi's words caught their attention. They turned towards the sky and watched in awe as shiny particles rained down like sparkling snowflakes, covering the entire area. It was a breathtaking sight as these glittering particles gently landed on the Clefairies, causing them to glow and evolve into their final form.
"Clefable!" The newly evolved Pokemon rejoiced, standing tall amongst their friends and family. Everyone present couldn't believe what they were witnessing, including Raihan who had his Rotom recording the whole time. "This is definitely going on Poketube!" he exclaimed excitedly, knowing this footage would make for a popular video.
Amidst all the wonder and amazement, Ashi and Leon stood next to each other with outstretched hands, feeling the tiny shards of Moonstone gently land in their palms. Leon couldn't help but notice how Ashi was covered in silvery flakes, her hair and skin shimmering ethereally in the moonlight that left him completely captivated. Ashi turned to see his gaze on her and asked if he was alright. Embarrassed to be caught ogling her, the Galar Monarch stammered and looked away while sheepishly putting a hand behind his head.
"I mean, you're very sparkling...not that you weren't before! I mean, not that you're not normally sparkly...I just..." He was rambling and wished he could stop himself before making things worse, but then felt a warm touch on his face. Turning around to see Ashi was smiling at him serenely before playfully tweaking his nose where some of the moon dust had landed.
"Well, I'm not the only one here with a bit of glitter on them," she said, causing Leon's cheeks to turn a darker shade. She continued, "And I think it suits you quite well, don't you think?" Seeing no one else paying attention to them, she resumed looking at what was happening with the others.
As the last of the Moonstone particles fell and the few remaining Clefairies had evolved, the Pokemon decided it was time to return to their home base and started picking up the smaller debris to take back with them. The trainers and their able-bodied Pokémon offered to lend a hand and stacked everything into one large pile where the Meteor once stood. The fairies continued their celebration with enthusiasm as their human friends watched.
"Well, this certainly turned out to be quite an eventful night," Toshi remarked. "Although I do feel bad about Team Rocket causing trouble for them...and destroying their Meteorite." Steven agreed, "Yes, it's a shame. That was a rare and irreplaceable stone from ancient times."
Despite the loss of the Meteorite, the beauty of the evolutionary event unfolding before them was a sight to behold. Seymour decided to stay and study the Pokémon in hopes of one day seeing his dream come true and joining them in the sky.
Ashi sat with Aratiri and Sora on her shoulders, while Noibat rested in her lap as they watched the incredible sight before them. She couldn't help but remark on how this had turned out to be more than any of them had anticipated.
"But I do feel like we should make it up to them for all the trouble Team Rocket caused." Misty, who had been listening to Ashi's words, suddenly had an idea and grabbed the other teen's hand, pulling her towards Raihan. The Gym leader was still recording when he felt Misty tapping his shoulder and turning to see her ask if she could borrow his Rotom. Raihan blinked in confusion, "Um okay why?"
But as Misty looked at Ashi then back at Raihan and whispered rapidly into the Galar trainer's ear, his eyes widened before he gave a nod, clearly on board with whatever she just told him. Ashi was able to hear some of it though when she realized what Misty had in mind and wondered if she could try to make her escape before getting roped in. But the younger teen kept a firm grip on her and dragged her off while Misty asked if she had a spare set of clothes to wear. As they went to find a spot for Ashi to change, the Dragonslayer wondered where a Celebi was when you needed one!
Misty left Raihan to take care of everything else as he told the others and Seymour to go to where the stone base was. While the trainers and Pokemon didn't seem to understand what was happening, they made sure to find a spot that would give them a nice view of the altar. Even Brock's Onix, who was in the back, had some fairy Pokemon hanging onto him for a skybox view.
"Any idea what's going on here?" Toshi couldn't help asking the Galar Monarch, who shrugged his shoulders at him, "Your guess is as good as mine, but if you were to ask Raihan, he might tell you," or not, since he seemed to be grinning like a Purrloin the whole time. Leon had the feeling that Raihan knew something and was keeping it hush-hush. He turned to look where everyone was now seated. Then Misty's voice came through the Rotom's loudspeaker from somewhere in the cave.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to present the one and only defender of love and justice, the heroine of the Clefairies and defeater of the evil Team Rocket, Sailor—Ashi!"
Hovering above on Starmie's body before jumping from a height, Ashi landed gracefully onto the altar before everyone's eyes. She stood there in a navy blue leotard with a micro-mesh ballet wrap skirt, wearing anti-skid socks that allowed her to grip the smooth surface without fear of falling off. Her long hair was pulled into twin pigtails, and she felt a bit self-conscious coming out in this outfit in front of everyone. But considering how Misty said it might be good for the Clefairies since they were so kind in letting them join in the fun.
(I still can't believe I got roped into this!) Ashi thought before hearing Misty start the music for her performance. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and began to freestyle to the music, letting her body move to the melody and staying in sync with the beat. She allowed it to take over as she let herself go and just enjoy the moment.
"Fighting evil by moonlight
Winning love by daylight
Never running from a real fight
She is the one named Sailor Moon!"
As Ashi glided and twirled with effortless grace on the rustic stage, her eyes fixed on the mesmerized crowd before her. The newly evolved Clefable and Clefairy stood in wonderment, their sparkling eyes never leaving their hero's every move. Their cheers echoed through the open air, a symphony of adoration for the captivating performance unfolding before them. Even Seymour was enthralled by the enchanting melody and familiar lyrics that brought back memories from his childhood television show. It was a moment of pure magic, a convergence of talent and admiration, and all who witnessed it were swept away in its spell.
"She will never turn her back on a friend
She is always there to defend
She is the one on whom we can depend
She is the one named Sailor…"
As Ashi performed on stage, her brother and the others were mesmerized by her fluid and precise movements. She embodied the grace and power of a true warrior and a dancer, captivating the audience effortlessly. Her long hair swirled around her as she executed each move flawlessly, embodying the essence of Sailor Moon. The rest of the group couldn't take their eyes off her, completely entranced by her stunning performance.
"Sailor Ashi!" Ashi gracefully moved into a new position, following Misty's lead as they carried out their improvised dance routine.
"Sailor Misty!" Misty joined in, adding her own water-themed flair to the performance. "Shinx! Litleo!" Ashi's Yoruichi and Sekhmet hopped out from their hiding places, wearing miniature skirts to match their trainer's outfit.
"Pika Pi! MRaw!" Aratiri and Sora, came out from stage right and seeing them donning makeshift capes and paper masks. Though they tried to hide it, they couldn't help secretly enjoying the silliness of it all for their trainer's sake. The onlookers watched in awe as Ashi continued to perform, completely drawn in by her rendition of the Sailor Moon song. Toshi beamed with pride at his sister's success on stage.
"Fighting evil by moonlight
Winning love by daylight
With her Sailor Scouts to help fight
She is the one named Sailor Moon
She is the one named Sailor Moon
"She is the one...Sailor Moon!"
The music swelled to a dramatic crescendo as Ashi struck her final pose, standing alongside Misty and their Pokemon in perfect unity. The audience erupted into cheers and applause, moved by the beautiful display of strength and teamwork. Okay here come this part! Taking a deep breath, Ashi prepared for her lines with determination.
"No matter how powerful the enemy, love will always conquer!" Her words rang out clearly, echoing through the crowd as she seamlessly transitioned into the pose that Misty had shown her moments before.
"Pika! Shinx! Lit! Meow!" Her Pokemon joined in with cries of support as the onlookers couldn't help but applaud their heartfelt performance. Seymour was on his feet, clapping loudly along with the Clefairy and Clefable who showed their enthusiasm for Ashi's impromptu role as Sailor Moon.
"Bravo! Bravo! Encore! Encore!" The crowd demanded more from their impromptu hero, and Ashi couldn't help but blush at their praise. She looked at Misty, who grinned and nodded, encouraging her to take a bow. As she and her Pokemon step forward to bow before their audience and thinking maybe it hadn't been such a bad idea.
As she hopped off the stage, Ashi couldn't help but smile at the warm support and affection from her brother and friends. She helped her Pokemon down one by one before being reunited with the others.
"You were amazing out there, Ashi," Seymour praised, "You definitely gave off the total vibe of being a sailor scout!" Ashi blushed at the compliment but thanked Seymour for his kind words.
"Yeah you certainly have the bod that goes with it, all you need is the fuka uniform and then you'd be all set!" Brock chimed in with his own flirtatious comment about her appearance, but Misty quickly intervened and pulled him away by his ear, "Down boy, no slobbering over the star!"
Ashi chuckled to herself watching the enamored teen being dragged off since she was relief to have Misty take care of him. The last thing she wanted was to endure Brock's over the top flirting like before. Raihan and Steven also congratulated Ashi on her performance, with Raihan even admitting she had some impressive moves on stage. Leon then offered his own praise on her stunning feat.
"You really were spectacular out there today, Ashi," he said. "And I think you even gained yourself a little fanclub." He gestured behind her, where all of the fairy Pokemon were now gathered around her, their eyes wide with admiration and tugging at her skirt in adoration.
Feeling touched by their appreciation, Ashi kneeled down to be at eye level with them and patted each one on the head. The fairy Pokemon surrounded her with giggles and happy chirps. She then felt something land on her shoulder and turned to see it was the Noibat, showing his own gratitude by nuzzling her chin like before. Ashi move to pat his tiny head with her finger, stroking him softly.
"Ah thank you Noibat, I really appreciate you showing me your—" But before she could finish, Noibat suddenly went for her throat once more, causing the guys to rush to react as they tried to wrestle the Pokemon away from her neck, "Magikarp not again, dude lay off the lovebites, oh no you don't! Hey stop! Quit it now! No biteys you little—"
As they managed to get Noibat under control and Ashi and Misty changed out of their costumes, they realized it was time to take their leave. The Clefable and their tribe followed them out, pointing them in the direction that would lead them to Cerulean City. As they prepared to say their final goodbyes, Ashi and Toshi thanked them personally for their wonderful hospitality.
"Here, I believe you should have these back," she said as she and her brother handed the rock crowns back to the Clefable leader and his mate. However, he shook his head and pushed them away, saying "Clefable Fable."
Toshi was confused, but Seymour stepped in as he figured out what was happening. "I think he's saying these are meant for you," he explained, "as a token for everything you both did and as mementos of your time here with them." The Clefable nodded in agreement, "Fable Fable!"
"Wow, are you sure?" Ashi was surprised that they were willing to give away such precious items. But seeing how insistent they were, she accepted them graciously, not wanting to be rude to their kind hosts. "Wow, that's so cool! You both got yourselves some moonstones," Raihan exclaimed. Even Leon thought about how useful they would be if they ran into any Pokemon needing those stones to evolve. Steven chimed in with his own knowledge, "They say that Moonstones bring good luck to those who have them, as well as wisdom and great fortune in love."
"Really that's good to know," Misty gushed, wondering if Ashi would let her have one if she asked nicely. Brock could also go for some of that luck in the romance department. The Ketchum siblings placed their precious trinkets safely in their bags, but noticed that the Pokemon were still standing close by. They wondered if there was something else they needed from them. Their friend the Clefairy marched over to Ashi's side and she bent down to her level to see what was going on.
"Hmm, is there anything else I can do for you little one?" She saw the small Clefairy pointing at herself and then at the pokeballs on her belt before signaling towards her and then the Tribe Leader, and his mate. Everyone's eyes widened in realization of what the Clefairy was trying to say. Toshi wasn't completely sure, so he turned to Ashi for confirmation. "Is she really saying what I think she is?"
"I think what she's trying to tell us," Leon interjected, "is that she wants to come along on Ashi's journey with her parents."
That was surprising news for Ashi. She turned to the tribesman to make sure he was certain about this decision. "What about your clan? Who will take care of them when you're not around?" The Clefable had already thought of that and pointed to the recently evolved Pokemon who was ready to step up and take over while he was gone. He had been looking forward to retirement and thought it would be best to spend it with the children of the Almighty and his mate.
"Are you absolutely sure about this?" Ashi asked again, wanting to make sure they were truly okay with the idea. The three nodded, showing that nothing would change their minds. While she wouldn't mind having a Clefairy to train with, she didn't know what to do with the other two.
Ashi suddenly stopped as an idea popped into her head. She turned to her brother with a bright grin on her face. "Hey Toshi, I have an idea!"
It was a quarter past eight, and there were still another two hours left on the clock before the Pallet Laboratory would call it a day. Professor Oak made sure he had everything well handled. He and Delia did the normal routine check on all the Pokémon, as well as checked the status of the trainers' progress. The Pokédex digitally sent intel their way and saved it into personal folders under their names.
He was pleased to see that many were doing well for themselves, although he found that Gary had hit a bit of a snag since leaving Pewter City not long ago. He had a hard time trying not to shake his head as he couldn't believe he allowed the audacity of the boy to just take a car instead of going on foot like any normal trainer. Still, he was a bit disappointed when he got his call from a repair shop where Gary explained what happened and that he needed his help in getting a rental. He said that it was possible but that it would have to come out of Gary's pocket as he refused to waste expenses on ridiculous extravagances when more responsible trainers took consideration into their savings to make sure they could handle themselves.
Didn't his son teach Gary the importance of how to handle money as it doesn't simply grow on trees Willy-Nilly? It was high time his grandson learned the important lesson of life and that one needs to be responsible for their actions. Really, saying a lightning chicken of all things destroyed that limo. What did his grandson think? That he was born yesterday!
"Kids these days, honestly, what will they think of next?" the Professor sighed. But at least there were other trainers to help pick up the slack. A notification pinged on his computer, signaling that someone had caught a Pokémon and was ready to deliver it to his lab after reaching the six-ball limit. He checked the sender's name: Ashi and Toshi.
"Well now, that's interesting," he thought to himself. It had been a while since he last spoke to Ashi in Viridian City. Curious about their progress, he tapped a few keys and opened the data file to see what Pokémon was being delivered.
"Hm, two Clefable! What luck!" The Professor exclaimed as he released them from their Pokéballs. Male and female, no less. These fairy types were rare and not often found in the wild. To think that Ashi and Toshi wound up encountering and catching these two, what wonderful good fortune to find here!
As he saw to transport them then release both Pokémon from their capsules before the Professor noticed the male fairy had something in his hand. The Clefable made to walk over toward him with the note pass to him and the Professor rather curious as he took to unfold it to read what it said.
To his surprise, it was addressed to him in Ashi's handwriting. As he read the contents with a warm smile on his face, seeing what it said and knew Delia would be thrilled when she learns about this.
"Oh my, how very thoughtful of them," he said aloud. It would be an easy request to fulfill and Delia would certainly be overjoyed by this. The Ketchum siblings were always so kind and generous, unlike Gary who could learn a thing or two from them. "Yes I certainly see no problems taking care of this." He couldn't wait to see the look on Delia's face when she see this.
"Professor, I've got the food ready!" His assistant's voice echoed through the lab. (Ah speak of Giratina!) "Delia, over here!" He called out and watched as his assistant walked in with two plates of fresh curry and set them on a small table nearby. Delia noticed the Professor standing next to two Clefable and bent down to greet them. "Well hello there you two, my isn't this a nice surprise!" Delia said as the female came over to say hello and seeing how the Pokemon was very friendly while the male stood by the Professor's side observing their interaction with a warm smile on his face.
"So who do these two lovelies belong to?" Delia asked after she finish petting her head. She assumed they were caught by one of the trainers from Pallet Town who had made it to Cerulean City through Mt. Moon.
"Well actually, they're for you," the Professor replied with a grin. He nodded towards the male Clefable, who stepped forward and handed Delia a piece of paper. As she read it, she recognized her children's handwriting and her heart swelled with happiness.
Hey Mom,
It's us. I know it's been a while since we last talked before the incident in Viridian City. But don't worry, we've been doing okay. Pikachu is now called Aratiri, and he and Sora have become good friends after a bonding session. And we have some good news - Toshi and I got our first badges from Pewter City!
It was an awesome battle, Mom. We totally blew them away! Ashi also got to fight the main gym leader, Ikaruga's team, and boy let me tell you, they were super tough. But both Sora and Aratiri wiped the floor with them.
Oh yeah, we also made some new friends who decided to tag along on our journey. Don't worry, we won't be reckless and reveal anything about you-know-what and I'll make extra sure Toshi doesn't run his mouth off— HEY! Anyway, we were making our way through Mt. Moon and we ran into this troublesome trio calling themselves Team Rocket.
They were the same goons that attack Viridian City Center and were here disrupting the Pokémon's habitat there! They're hard to miss given their stupid getup and the bad motto they said and also the talking Meowth is hard to miss!
Can you relay this information to the Professor and see if someone can help out Seymour? He can be a bit discombobulated at times and could use some extra hands to help the Pokémon that may need medical attention - but nothing serious, just cases of dehydration. We want to make sure they're all okay.
Seymour is a nice guy; he's actually a scientist from the Pewter Science Museum who's really interested in space travel with fairy Pokémon. But he has this weird habit of speaking in rhythms sometimes, but don't worry, he's mostly okay. He's staying with the Clefairies in hopes of fixing another Meteor ship for Outer Space. We told him to send us a postcard when he does.
Anyway, I know you're wondering about the two Pokémon who brought you this letter. While we were helping Seymour, one of the Clefairies was in danger and we stepped in to rescue it.
Apparently, she's their youngest child, and the male Clefable is the former leader of his tribe - this is his mate, Luna.
It turns out, he knows about you because you and Dad helped save him all those years ago. He wanted to repay the favor, so he decided to resign from leading his tribe and start fresh somewhere new.
We know it must be lonely now that we're not there, so sis suggested that they become yours. I thought that was fine by me! Toshi and I figured you could use some extra company, and before you say anything, we already had the professor transfer ownership to you once they were caught.
Just know that even though we can't always be there with you, you'll always be in our hearts.
Thinking of you as always, with lots of love,
Ashi & Toshi
P.S. I made sure to put on a fresh pair of underwear every day and finish my greens like sis told me to so no need to worry about that!
Delia's eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she finished reading the heartfelt letter from her children. She couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride for them, always putting others before themselves just like their parents had taught them. A gentle hand on her cheek drew her attention to the Clefable tribe leader, his kind eyes filled with understanding and compassion. Delia's gaze drifted down to the three distinctive scars on his chin - a reminder of the Clefairy they had rescued all those years ago.
"So you're the..." Delia's words trailed off as she realized who he was, a warm smile spreading across her face as she remembered their fateful encounter. The Clefable smiled in return, pleased to be recognized by the compassionate human. He and his mate had made the decision to join Delia and her family, leaving their eldest in charge of the moon tribe. In doing so, they had also entrusted their egg to the young boy related to the Almighty one, knowing it would be raised with kindness and love.
Feeling overwhelmed with emotion, Delia embraced both of them tightly. "Welcome to our family," she whispered with genuine warmth and gratitude. She never thought she would feel this way again after losing her husband and then her beloved Pokémon, but having these two by her side brought a sense of comfort and joy that she thought was lost forever.
As she closed her eyes, Delia couldn't help but think of Acnolognia and felt certain that wherever he was, he knew what their children had accomplished and would be bursting with pride. Especially for Ashi, who had become a formidable trainer and Dragonslayer in her own right, and Toshi who would surely learn and grow under her expert guidance.
"That was a really nice thing you guys just did there," Misty said after watching the two Ketchum siblings throw the curveball to the Clefables once Ashi finished writing the notes to be hand-delivered to the Professor and their mom. When Ashi told them what she was thinking, even Toshi had no problems with giving them to their mother as her own.
Toshi spoke up, "I agree, having a Clefable would be cool, but I think sis had the right idea. Mom could really use some company now that we're not there." It had been five long years since Archen's passing and their mother was still struggling to move on. Toshi thought about how much it would mean to her to have the two fairy-type Pokemon around to liven things up in their absence.
Beside it wasn't like he wouldn't have the chance to have one for himself eventually, at least not yet anyway. He glanced down at the small pink egg that the female Clefable had handed him, feeling its warmth radiating through its shell. He hadn't expected this gift, but since Ashi was going with the Clefairy, it seemed only fair that they gave him a fairy-type as well once it hatched. However, he was currently debating which of his Pokemon to send back to the lab in order to make space for his future partner. As Ashi wrote letters, Toshi made his decision and would transport his Beedrill to make room.
Brock chimed in, "It's completely understandable that you want to make sure your Mom has someone with her while you guys aren't around and think those two make great companions for sure." He thought about how nice it would be if he could find a Pokemon that all of his siblings could bond over as a family pet. But what kind of Pokemon would suit everyone's preferences? Brock realized he should probably write down some ideas and see which ones came closest to what they all might agree on.
Ashi then turned to the Clefairy who was waiting patiently for her turn and took one of the small balls, enlarging it ready to throw it her way. "Okay, here we go then!" She threw it straight, sure it would land without any trouble when a violet-black blur swooped in and got sucked up into the capsule instead. Not long after that, the ball disappeared, already teleporting to Pallet's Lab.
Everyone was stunned by this turnabout as they all looked at where Seymour was. They thought he was still holding onto it but seemed like he was too busy nursing his bruised finger after the Noibat fiercely chomped down on them making him let go in a panic. While Seymour was tending to his injury, the Pokemon made its move and got into the strike zone once Ashi threw the Pokeball in that direction.
"Oh my, didn't see that coming," though they had seen how Noibat was around her and assumed he wanted to be a part of Ashi's party and not waste the opportunity to get caught. The Dragonslayer hoped that the Professor could handle the little guy until she decided if she wanted him on her team's dynamic. It would be good having a Dragon-type on the roster but…
Ashi's hand subconsciously move to her throat, still feeling the small bites there from earlier. Though she might hold off until the Noibat learns to curb his enthusiasm for snacking on her neck. There was only so much blood she could donate without feeling woozy in the process. The others were also thinking the same as well.
She turned back to the fairy type with an apologetic glance who wasn't too shocked by what happened but Ashi said, "Sorry about that but luckily I keep a few spares on hand." She moved to take out another Pokeball, tapping it lightly on the head of the Pokemon before her Pokedex dinged, indicating a successful capture. She thought that at least now the Noibat wouldn't feel so lonely at the Ranch, with her own and their mother's along with Toshi's Beedrill keeping him company.
With that task complete and farewells said to Seymour and the others, they continued on their way without any further hiccups. Ashi admitted that things had certainly turned out differently than she had expected. But now they were ready to move forward and—
"No matter how powerful the enemy is, love will always conquer!" Ashi whirled around to see Raihan showing Brock and Toshi a video on his phone. It was Rotom's recording of her performance earlier. A strong tint of embarrassment rose in her cheeks as she couldn't believe they captured that moment.
"Raihan, if you dare post that video on your Poketube or whatever channel, I swear I'll..." She didn't need to finish her sentence. The threat was clear and Toshi and Brock quickly backed away from Raihan, not wanting to risk getting on Ashi's bad side. The gym leader, who had seen far worse, simply put away his phone and said, "Chill out, doll. There's no need to get worked up about it. Honestly, you should be flattered that this could skyrocket your popularity if it went online. But fine, if it means that much to you, I might be willing to make a deal."
"Oh boy..." Toshi muttered as he realized that Raihan had said the wrong thing. Even Leon and Steven could see that Ashi was struggling to keep her composure. "Pardon? A deal?" Ashi asked.
"Well yeah, since you still owes me for my bike and I'll be more than happy to leave you an open tab. It's not a big deal, just..." Raihan was caught off guard when Ashi suddenly came up behind him, her soft hands gripping tightly around his stomach.
"H-Hey, what are you doing?" he exclaimed. But before he could finish his sentence, Ashi arched her back with impressive strength and effortlessly lifted him off the ground. She then threw him over her without any trouble, causing him to land a few feet away from her. The air grew tense as everyone stood in shock, witnessing Ashi flawlessly execute the Kalos Suplex move. Raihan landed on his front with his legs curled over his head, resembling a Huntail statue.
"Wow, I didn't know your sister was that strong," Brock remarked, impressed by Ashi's display of strength. Ashi dusted off her hands and continued walking down the trail, leaving the groaning Raihan behind, her nose turn to the air without looking back at him. "I never knew she could pull off that move so perfectly," Misty commented while thinking that it certainly serves Raihan right for trying to make such a suggestion outta the blue and probably would've done the same thing as she did.
"Well, my sister is a black belt in martial arts and she works out a lot. She even helps the Pokemon at the Professor's Ranch blow off steam by sparring with them." Sometimes it was the other way around, but Toshi remembered a few times he had seen her wrestling with fighting-types and picking up some new techniques.
"I find that quite impressive," Steven said, admiring Ashi's dedication to training with such powerful Pokemon. From what he had seen so far, she was definitely cut from a different cloth than most trainers, making her all the more fascinating to him.
As they passed by Raihan, who was still trying to get back up before Leon stop to offer him a helping hand. But he couldn't help but comment as he lift the gym leader to his feet, "Honestly, you probably shouldn't have said that to her."
"What about her?! She threw me like I was a sack of potatoes!" Raihan growled, rubbing his sore jaw and glaring in Ashi's direction. Leon sigh while mentally shook his head at Raihan's stubbornness to let this slide.
"Just let it go, Rai. It could have been worse – she could have used her that or even brought out number thirteen," Leon pointed out, causing both Galar trainers to shudder. Raihan was still miffed, but realized that Leon was right – it could have been much worse if Ashi unleashed one of those terrifying HM (Hannya Mask) manifestations. He should be thanking his lucky stars but still, "Who would've thought someone of her size could easily use a powerful move like that."
Leon chuckled before putting a hand on his rival's shoulder, "Well I guess that's just one of the many things we get to learn as we go along on this journey." The two moving to quickly catch up with the rest of their comrades and finding that they were discussing of how much further before they should break for camp that night.
Meanwhile, back in Pallet Town, Delia led her two new Clefable around the grounds and introduced them to the other Pokemon living in the spacious yard behind the lab. As Professor Oak was about to dig into his semi-warm curry, he noticed a notification on the monitor indicating that Toshi had sent in one of his Pokemon, while Ashi had just caught two more. He turned to see what had appeared and was surprised to find a Clefairy and a Noibat among the group.
"Oh my, this is quite a surprise! Good job, Ashi, for catching another non-Kanto Pokemon," he exclaimed before putting his dinner aside and going to tap the keys to transport the newcomers right away. He then let the three out, Toshi's Beedrill and Ashi's Clefairy were happy to be released from their Pokeballs, but the Noibat seemed confused by its surroundings and focused its attention on the old man in front of it. The professor reached out to pick up the Noibat and examine it. It was young and in good health, but further testing would have to wait until tomorrow morning.
"Alright, let's get you all outside to meet the others. I'm sure you'll fit right in—" he started to say before being cut off by the Noibat launching itself at him in protest of being touched by someone other than its trainer. Chaos erupted as the startled professor tried to escape from the angry Pokemon's pursuit around the lab, causing equipment to rattle from its screeching and Gust attacks. "Ah help, someone, anyone help me!" Loud noises could be heard outside the facility but by then a lot of folks were already at home and completely unaware of the situation that was going down over there. "ASHI DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOU CRAZY NOIBAT!"
In a small remote spot just off the trail as Ashi and her friends had just settled in for the night seeing that they decide to start off fresh in the morning for Cerulean City when it was much lighter out. With everyone getting into their sleeping bags and already turning in, however, Ashi heard a noise that sounded like someone screaming in distress that sounded almost vaguely like the Professor's.
Listening again, she heard nothing and assumed it was just the wind. She thought it strange how often this seemed to happen lately before yawning and snuggling between Sora and Aratiri as they slept soundly right by her head. It had been quite a day for all of them and sure they'll be all sleeping like Snockums without any problems now.
She figured her latest catches would be fine at the Professor's alongside their mom's and while she was letting sleep succumb her thought, she promise to start working on some names to give them so they didn't feel left out from the bunch.
(I'll come up with something good tomorrow,) she thought before drifting off to sleep herself along with the rest of their makeshift group not aware of the madness happening back in Pallet Town.

It took some time for Samuel to send a team to assess the situation at Mt. Moon. Well actually, it was Delia who took charge, as the Professor was still recovering from the Noibat's assault the other night, his ears were still ringing and had a hard time hearing anything at that moment, and left it to his assistant, who might have better luck calming the overly agitated Pokemon down than him.
Perhaps because she fairly resembled his trainer or had a sweet-smelling blood, the Noibat allowed Delia to handle him while she made the calls. As the Rangers and medic Pokemon professionals arrived on the site and removed the last of the lanterns by the later afternoon, the Nurse Joy on the scene confirmed that all the Pokemon were now taken care of with the medicine she and her team prescribed and should take no less than twenty-four hours before they were all better.
Seymour did also help filled in any details they might have overlooked, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary after he gave his statement and then seeing to let his bosses back at Pewter know about his extended stay in the mountains.
However, months later, rumors began to spread among young trainers passing through the area as many have claimed to have seen Clefairy roaming freely without any issues but while this did intrigue those in acquiring one, however, there was more to the rumor that left some very skeptic until they saw for themselves there was truth to their words.
It was as one trainer was making their way through Mt. Moon when he spotted a Clefairy peacefully eating berries without a care in the world. "Oh wow, a Clefairy! I'm going to catch it!" The trainer eagerly sent out one of their Pokemon, ready to do battle. They were about to issue his command when suddenly, the Clefairy turned and smiled at them, but right beside it manifesting before their very eyes was a terrifying demonic blood red mask with a sinister grin. Its glowing yellow eyes seemed to pierce into their soul as it stood behind the innocent-looking creature.
The sight of it was enough to drain the color out of both human and their Pokemon partner, wondering what sort of move was this to instill fear into the two of them. The Clefairy seem to be either unaware or pretending not to notice it though seeing the way it glower at them, with a silent message of "come at me if you dare ya punk!"
The trainer thought twice about risking their safety and quickly changed their mind. "Nevermind!" They ran off towards the nearest exit, leaving behind a trail of dust. The Clefairy watched them leave without even attempting to fight back. Please to see how successful that was and knew was time to report back in.
"Clefairy!" Finished with its meal, it headed back home. Even though the Meteor was now no longer as its majestic form, they still felt invigorated thanks to their benevolent hero who helped them out and thoroughly inspired them with her bravery and kind spirit. The fairy Pokemon had passed by a few Clefairy that were in the midst of making a statue that bore resemblance to their benevolent and wonderful goddess and were finishing up on the Pokemon she had with her at that time.
"Elder, I'm back!" The new chieftain turned to see the returning Clefairy, who had been scouting the caverns to check on everyone now that the lanterns were removed and the balance slowly being restored for the inhabitants living there. "I encountered a human, but thanks to the Almighty One's teaching, I scared them away."
The Chieftain nod, pleased to hear this from one of his fellow moon kin. "Excellent work, child. We have come this far because of our Almighty's princess that has rewarded us with a new move. Let us all work hard and use it for the benefit of moonkind! All hail the Almighty One!"* His voice reverberated through the chamber and gathering the others who join him in sharing this moment.
"All hail the Almighty One!" They cheered loudly as they gathered around the statue in reverence.
"AACHOO!" Ashi sneezed for the eighth time that morning, causing everyone to look at her with growing concern. They wondered if she was catching a cold or something else. "Arceus bless you!" Everyone said at the same time, and Toshi couldn't help but say out loud, "Man, sis is really sneezing a lot today."
"You know they say every time you sneeze, someone is talking or thinking about you?" Misty shot a quick side glance at the most likely suspects. She was sure Ashi's rendition as Sailor Moon must have drawn their attention, not to mention the closeness she shared with the Galar Monarch during their dance. It wouldn't be too surprising if one of them tried to sweep Ashi off her feet, but the question was who would make the first move?
The young trainer watched as Steven (Candidate #3) went over to Ashi and handed her a handkerchief. She took it with a small thanks followed by a smile in his direction. This did not go unnoticed by Leon (Candidate #1) and Raihan (Candidate #2), who both scowled in his direction. Brock wasn't included because she didn't think he fit Ashi's type, but she mentally noted down who was currently in the lead: Leon with two points, Steven with one, and Raihan with negative one after what he had said to Ashi earlier. But that could change in time.
(I'll admit they all seem to have a fair chance, but if there's someone with Water-type Pokemon joining us, I'll be sure to help him out if he shows interest in Ashi like these three.) "If he doesn't, maybe I can see if he's the kind of boyfriend I'd want for myself."
Toshi then noticed a sign that said Cerulean City was only a few miles away. "Wow, I can't believe we got here so soon. But wait a minute, does anyone else feel like something is missing?"
"Hmm, like what?" Brock asked as he and Misty joined the young trainer. Toshi moved his hands behind his head before saying, "Oh, it's just that I had this weird thought that if Gary had come this way, he'd probably write something like 'Gary was here, Toshi is a loser!'" But seeing that it wasn't the case, and while he was half-tempted to write it himself in the case his rival did show up, Ashi step in as if she had read what he must be thinking.
"Desecrating of government property can lead to a hundred-dollar fine or even a year in jail. So I think it's best you reconsider doing that." Toshi turned to the others who were standing with Ashi, also agreeing with her statement. "Yeah, let's not risk it."
"Oh well, okay then." As they all continued on their journey, Sora and Aratiri were the last to regroup behind them. They had been taking care of some business and shared mischievous glances at each other. While the sign was government property, that didn't stop them from adding a bit of aesthetic to the woods that was sure to gander a lot of attention with passing travelers that will come down this way for sure. Using Sora's Fury Swipes and Aratiri's Iron Tail, they certainly created something that was sure to be talk for ages to come.
"Let's hope Gary likes the little pres we left here," Litten whispered to Aratiri, who nodded in agreement. "Pika!" His tail may have been worn out, but seeing what they had created made it all worth it.
"Ugh, stupid shortcuts and stupid AAA. I swear, I am never taking someone else's suggestion through that route again!" Gary grumbled as he trudged through the area with his cheerleaders reluctantly following behind him. The trail they had managed to find towards Cerulean was thankfully less dangerous, but unfortunately they had to walk on foot, taking them hours to get there. It would have been much faster to take a car, but who knew they could be so expensive? And even if there was one that was cheaper than a limo, there was no way Gary Oaks would be caught dead driving in some ancient jalopy that look like was covered in fresh turd! Nope, he would choose walking over letting his pride be shattered in that thing.
"I can't believe I have to go through this because of a stupid chicken!" If anyone dared to offer him another shortcut, he would tell them to shove it up their—
"Hey, like what's that?" One of the girls, Brandy or Candy or something with an "Andy" in their name, pointed to something that stood out not far from the trail. As they got closer, they saw it was a large totem pole that appeared to have been recently carved. A smug Litten sat on top, a cheeky Pikachu in the middle, and at the bottom was a Charmander holding its lower eyelid with its tongue sticking out. Initials "S" and "A" were inscribed at the bottom and next to it was a piece of paper with Gary's name on it. He snatched it off and opened it to see what it said.
"Hey Gary-Wary, how does it feel to be coming in dead last? Well I love to chat but I got better things to do in my time, so TTFN - ta-ta for now!" There was no name at the bottom and the signature was unfamiliar to him, but he had a feeling it could only belong to one other person. Gary crumpled the note in his hand, feeling infuriated by his rival's taunts.
In a fit of frustration, he threw the paper to the ground and crushed it under his heel. His cheerleaders, sensing his anger, exchanged nervous glances but wisely chose to remain silent. Gary clenched his fists, feeling a surge of determination coursing through him. "I'll show that punk who's coming in dead last," Gary muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing with determination. He turned to his cheerleaders with a fierce look in his eyes.
"Let's pick up the pace people! Cerulean City is just ahead, so double time now!" Gary declared, his voice full of newfound resolve. The girls groaned, finding that they were too exhausted from walking and their feet were killing them.
"Can't we have like five minutes to catch our breath?" Mandy asked, her designer heels were not meant for trekking through the wilderness. Her friends were thinking the same thing.
"Sure, take five," Gary retorted in a high-pitched tone dripping with sarcasm. "Maybe then you won't feel as tired if you aren't chatting away your gobs and waste all the air around you with your insipid blather." He turned to the others and asked them, "Anyone else want to take five? Go ahead, but then you can just walk back home on your own two feet because I don't need slackers following me!"
The girls shared a quick glance at each other and realized their precarious situation - if they did decide to turn back now, they would be walking all the way without means of transportation and depending on Gary, who was their only source of income since they had left their wallets at home and only brought makeup and fashionable clothes with them thinking it would be fine class all the way. But now, looking at their less than fabulous selves and seeing that they couldn't go home looking like this. They'd like never hear the end of it!
Realizing they had no choice but to keep up with Gary until they come up with a more favorable solution, they begrudgingly continued on the trail towards Cerulean City, trying not to moan with every step they made on the rough path.
As they made their way down the path leading to their destination, Gary was thinking that he would have to really pick it up in order to not let his rivals get the best of him, especially Toshi and his sister! (Just you wait Toffy, I'm going to make you rue the day you mess with someone like me!)
"ACHHOO!" Now it was Toshi's turn to sneeze out of nowhere and rubbing his nose with the back of his hand, wondering what was that just now. He waited for a moment but seeing his nose didn't so much as twitch and seeing must have been some pollen that got up in there. "Hey Toshi hurry up will ya!"
Hearing Brock's voice calling to him and the young Dragonslayer seeing to pick up his stride and join up alongside his sister and his idol and listening to them chat animatedly along with everyone else.
Toshi thought there was nothing for him to fret about as they continue on their way feeling things were looking pretty dang good for them and nothing was gonna bring him down, no siree!
