Here's the next chapter! This is a sequel to The Winter Dance! I don't know how long it's going to be, but it might not be a short story. This is more about Kirishima, Ashido and Bakugo now at this point. I highly recommend reading The Winter Dance, Class 1-A's Sleepover and A Beautiful View to understand what's going on fully. Other than that, Enjoy!
Ashido grabbed her winter jacket frantically and ran out of her room. She didn't understand what was going on with Kirishima and Bakugo, but she knew that he shouldn't have ran out of there without a jacket. Ashido quickly pressed the button in the elevator and tried to get to him as quick as she could.
"Come on... Eijiro... You idiot..." Ashido said to herself.
The elevator felt like it was taking forever to get downstairs. She soon headed out once the doors opened. Then she realized that she forgot to grab Kirishima's winter jacket. Before she could run up there, someone bumped into her.
It was Bakugo, and he was wearing Kirishima's jacket. She whipped her head up at him and didn't understand why he was wearing it.
"What are doing, Bakugo?" Ashido asked him, "Can't you see I have to go catch up to Eijiro. He's out there without his jacket."
"Exactly. I'm going with you," Bakugo said as he headed outside, "That idiot is going to freeze if we don't find him."
"I'm his girlfriend," Ashido pointed out, "I should be the one looking for him. I don't know what's going on between you and him, but clearly he's not happy about something."
Everyone was worried about Kirishima, but they let them go on ahead. Iida kept everyone calm while everyone cleaned up the fort. Uraraka and Midoriya were really worried about him and hoped that they could find him quickly. Uraraka looked at Bakugo and could tell that things between them weren't that great. Bakugo looked away from her and focused on helping Kirishima.
Ashido opened the door, but could barely open it because of the windy snow storm. Bakugo came over and helped her out. They both opened it no problem and headed outside.
"Ooh, it's freezing outside!" Ashido cried out, "Hey! I said I can do this myself!"
"Really? It's freezing out here! You need my help, no doubt about that!" Bakugo cried back.
Ashido gave him a dirty look and ran out into the snowy storm. Bakugo followed her, and they both noticed slight footprints going across the pathway. It was hard to tell since it was so dark out, but it was enough to figure out where he went.
"Come on, he went this way!" Ashido cried out.
They both followed the footprints and could tell that they were heading towards the school. Ashido really hoped that he was okay. With no coat or jacket on, she knew that he was going to need a jacket.
"Hey Bakugo," Ashido said to him, "Why are you wearing Eijiro's jacket?"
"This jacket? This isn't Kirishima's jacket, it's mine..." Bakugo trailed off and noticed Ashido's face.
"Wait, you gave him that jacket? For our first date?" Ashido pointed out, "Why would you do that? Is it because you were trying to win him over or something?"
"Now's not the time, Raccoon Eyes," Bakugo said back.
"Oh, like it was time for you to call it quits on being friends with Eijiro," Ashido pointed out, "I heard him back there. He seemed really upset."
"Yeah, well. He can be a bit dramatic," Bakugo said back.
"Bakugo. I don't know what your problem is, but I really don't appreciate the fact that you keep doing this to him," Ashido growled at him.
"Keep doing what? I didn't do anything!" Bakugo cried out.
"Of course you think that! All you ever care about is yourself!" Ashido cried back, "He's trying to be friends with you! He didn't have to do that after we started dating! After finding out about you being the secret admirer, all he could talk about was you! He cares about you, Bakugo! All he wants to do is make sure you're okay! We might be dating, but all he ever wanted was to be friends with--
"I kissed him."
Ashido froze in place, stopping in her tracks. She turned around, knowing full well that he wasn't talking about when Kirishima talked to Bakugo that night.
"Okay. What exactly are you expecting me to do about it?" Ashido asked him, "Pick a fight with you?"
"No. I just thought that you should know," Bakugo said back, "I just... I couldn't take it anymore. Being friends with him, it just... it doesn't feel right with you dating him and all."
"Bakugo. Don't you realize that whether you're dating him or not that he'll still care about you?" Ashido asked him, "Friends or a couple, he still cares."
Ashido noticed him thinking about what she said. She could tell that he was feeling a little better, but they were looking for Kirishima. She hugged her arms and continued towards the school. Bakugo followed her and soon spotted the footprints again. Soon enough, they saw the footprints heading towards the school. Ashido ran as fast as she could with Bakugo running after her.
"Ashido! Hold on!" Bakugo cried out.
Ashido opened the door and found Kirishima sitting on the locker room floor. He had fallen asleep, but she noticed that he was shivering a lot. Her eyes widened in shock to see him like this. She kneeled down next to him to wake him up.
"Eijiro, wake up!" Ashido cried out as she shook his shoulders, "Come on!"
He wasn't waking up, but he was shivering a lot.
"He might need to see Recovery Girl," Bakugo said to her.
"B-But, she's not here right now! It's late!" Ashido cried out as tears formed under her eyes.
"I'll call Mr. Aizawa," Bakugo said to her, "He'll get Recovery Girl over here soon enough."
Bakugo pulled out his phone and called his teacher. Soon enough, Mr. Aizawa got the message and called Recovery Girl. Ashido tried to keep Kirishima warm by hugging him close to her. She even tried to warm up his hands a little by rubbing hers against his. She noticed Bakugo looking, and they both were worried about him. Bakugo took off his winter jacket and handed it to Ashido. She smiled and put it on Kirishima.
"Now I really wish I got Todoroki to come here to help warm him up," Ashido said to him.
"Please, like Icy Hot can do much right now," Bakugo said back, "It's still freezing in here."
"Maybe we should move him into the Nurse's Office while waiting for them to come over," Ashido said to him, "It might be a while."
Bakugo agreed and helped pick him up. Ashido carried him on one side, and Bakugo helped carry him on the other side. They both took their time and made their way upstairs to the Nurse's Office. Ashido had a bit of trouble carrying him up the stairs, so she had to give him to Bakugo carrying him bridal style. They were almost there, so Ashido ran up ahead to get a bed ready. She opened the door and got the bed all made for him to lay down on. Once it was ready, Bakugo came in with Kirishima in his arms.
"Come on. Set him down here," Ashido said to him.
Bakugo set him down gently, and Ashido put the blanket over him. She could see him shivering and really wished that there was something else she could do for him. Then she wondered if Recovery Girl had a heating pad somewhere around her Office. She searched around frantically for one and soon found one underneath some supplies. She plugged it in and put it around his stomach.
"There. That might warm him up a bit," Ashido said to him.
"Good call," Bakugo said back, "They should be here soon."
After a while, things got pretty quiet. It was a little awkward just standing there, so Ashido pulled up a chair to sit on next to his bed. She held his hand tightly, making Bakugo feel a little uncomfortable. Just seeing her holding his hand made him feel a little jealous, and it wasn't going away anytime soon. He thought about what she said, and he kind of could see where she was coming from. But he still felt that longing of wanting to be more than friends with him.
It frustrated him and felt his fists tighten up.
Ashido noticed that the heating pad was already making him feel a little better, but was still shivering. Bakugo snapped out of it and tried to look for another blanket. He looked at other beds and found another one. He quickly laid it down across him and luckily it was thicker. Ashido smiled at him, but Bakugo felt a little uncomfortable still being around them by themselves.
"Bakugo, I know that you kissed Eijiro when you confessed to him," Ashido said to him.
Bakugo's eyes widened, and he whipped his head up to look at her. He wasn't expecting her to say anything like that, especially right now.
"If you really like him as more than friends, then I don't know what you want from me," Ashido said to him, "I can't just break up with him. I like him too. He also deserves a break. He's never had anyone as more than a friend before. This love letter that you sent him... You need to know that I was going to ask him out either way. Either one of us was going to ask him out sooner or later."
Ashido's hand tightened around Kirishima's and didn't let go. She looked at him, feeling a little upset. She wanted to be together with him, but she also didn't want him to put so much on him. She liked him, but something about it felt not quite right. While holding his hand, something about it felt like a friend helping out someone.
She let out a sigh, and Bakugo noticed that a tear fell down her face. He could tell that something off about this for some reason.
"I guess it should've been you this entire time."
Bakugo's eyes widened in shock and just stood there feeling a little thrown off by what she said. Before he could say anything, Mr. Aizawa and Recovery Girl came running into the Nurse's Office. They looked worried about them, but mostly Kirishima who was lying down on a bed looking freezing cold.
"Oh dear! I'll heal him up, but I need to make sure he isn't tired," Recovery Girl said to them.
Recovery Girl ran over to Kirishima, and Ashido and Bakugo gave her some space.
"What happened exactly to cause this?" Mr. Aizawa asked in a demanding tone.
Ashido didn't say anything and avoided eye contact with Bakugo and Mr. Aizawa. She didn't know what to say to him, considering what went down between Bakugo and Kirishima. She didn't want Kirishima to get in trouble with something that was pretty ridiculous.
"W-Well, y-you see... I--"
"Kirishima and I got in a fight during the sleepover," Bakugo interrupted, shocking Ashido in the process, "I got upset about something and might've caused it. He didn't do anything wrong. I was the one that started it."
Ashido's eyes widened, realizing that he was covering for him. She couldn't believe that he had just done something like that for him. She almost felt herself smile seeing him being a good friend. She knew that things would be okay.
Mr. Aizawa let out an annoyed sigh and rubbed the back of his head.
"Alright. Bakugo, you're gonna be cleaning up the dormitory for two days," Mr. Aizawa said to him, "That means picking up trash, doing the laundry, vacuuming--"
"Yeah, yeah. I've heard it all before," Bakugo said to him.
Ashido felt a little better once Bakugo had settled things with him. Something about it felt a little nice to see him being good friends with Kirishima. She almost felt like she could let things between them might be okay. But then she remembered how different it felt holding Kirishima's hand. She looked at her hand, and Bakugo noticed.
"Hmm... He's seems pretty exhausted," Recovery Girl said to them as he checked on him, "He might have to stay here overnight. I can heal him later so he can recover at a better pace."
Ashido and Bakugo looked at him and noticed that he was still a little cold, but not as much as when they found him. Ashido spotted Bakugo looking at him with a look that she had never seen before. His eyes were much softer than she'd ever seen them before. It gave her this feeling that she had never felt before, and she didn't like it. She knew that things had to change between them and soon.
Now that she knew that Bakugo wrote the love letter, she knew that things between them might change. But not in the way that she thought.
Ashido knew that she had to do something to stop this from happening.
"Bakugo can look after him," Ashido said to Mr. Aizawa, "He feels bad for what happened, so he volunteered to stay and look after him."
Bakugo gave her a shocking look and clearly had no idea what she was getting on about. Mr. Aizawa didn't hesitate and was already heading out of the Nurse's Office. He was clearly exhausted and wanted to head back to the dormitory. Ashido was about to head over there, but Bakugo stopped her from getting away. Mr. Aizawa noticed but didn't say anything as they talked things out.
"Ashido, what the hell are you doing?" Bakugo asked her, "I thought that you wanted to stay here. By the looks of it, you were definitely going to jump at the chance to stay with him."
Ashido hesitated and could barely look at him. That feeling from holding his hand came up again, and she felt tears coming up.
"Yeah... That was until I saw you looking at him," Ashido said to him, "You like him a lot. I know you do. I can see it in your eyes."
Bakugo's eyes widened and felt his cheeks heat up without meaning to. He stiffened up, but tried to avoid talking about this with her of all people.
"Just... Look at after him for me. Okay?" Ashido said to him, "Something tells me he'll wake up soon."
Ashido took a one last look at Kirishima and almost felt tears fall down her face. She walked out of there, leaving Bakugo alone with Recovery Girl and Kirishima. Ashido felt her heart break as she just the school building with Mr. Aizawa. She looked at her hand, remembering that feeling of holding Kirishima's. It felt so much different from when they held hands at the bowling alley. Then once she thought about some more, their first date felt like two friends hanging out.
Yes, it was awkward and weird at times, but that was only because it was their first date. Then she remembered their kiss. Something about it didn't feel like two people who should be together. It felt like two friends that should stay that way. Her eyes widened in shock and felt tears falling down her face.
Mr. Aizawa noticed her crying and walked up to check on her.
"Ashido, are you okay? Did something happen that I should know about?" Mr. Aizawa asked her as he supported her.
Ashido kept crying, but could barely look up at her teacher. She gripped onto her jacket, feeling so hurt and frustrated at herself.
"M-Mr. Aizawa... Eijiro and I... I-I just..." Ashido said as she trailed off.
Mr. Aizawa might not have known what was going on fully, but he could tell that they were going through something. He wasn't usually good at these things, but something was clearly going on. He placed his hand on her shoulder, but also kept his distance to give her some space. Ashido just kept crying, but felt a sense of relief coming from her teacher.
"It's okay. I'm here for you," Mr. Aizawa said to her, "I'm not going anywhere."
Ashido's eyes widened and looked up at him with such upsetting eyes. Mr. Aizawa looked at her, and he seemed to have much softer eyes than usual. Something about it made her feel like it was okay that she was crying in front of him. She then just let it all out, knowing full well that things will be different when Kirishima wakes up. She felt herself collapse onto the floor, and Mr. Aizawa made sure that she was okay.
He let her cry it out, and she soon felt herself understand what was going on. She did like Kirishima a lot, but they were better off being friends. Their first date was amazing and very special to her, but something about it felt different now that it's been awhile. She remembered how it felt to hold him close, and it felt like two really good friends just hanging out. That's why it felt awkward a lot of the times, because they should stay that way.
Ashido soon stopped crying, feeling a little uncomfortable doing this in front of her teacher. She just really wanted to go back to the dormitory and go to bed. Something about staying here felt a little weird with Bakugo staying behind. She tried to get up, but Mr. Aizawa helped her up. He didn't even say much to her and gave her space as they headed out of the school building. Soon enough they were outside, and Ashido snapped out of it when it freezing cold air hit her.
They both walked through the snow, but it wasn't as big of a storm this time around. Ashido felt her tears freeze up a little, and she kept going as Mr. Aizawa got her through it. He didn't say anything to her, knowing full well that she didn't want to talk about it. The snow slowed them down a bit, but soon enough they got through it. They finally made their way into the dormitory, and everyone ran up to them with worried eyes.
Ashido didn't even look up as Mr. Aizawa tried to back off a little bit.
"Ashido! Thank goodness you're okay!" Yaoyorozu cried out, "You had all of us worried sick!"
"What's going on with Kirishima? Is he okay?" Iida asked her.
Ashido didn't answer or say anything to them. She just stood there, trying to wipe her tears away. She didn't even seem to be bothered by everyone running over to her so abruptly.
"Everyone calm down," Mr. Aizawa demanded as he used his quirk to settle them down, "Ashido is exhausted. I'm sure she'll let you know what's going on after she gets some rest. I'll allow a sleepover, but I ask that you give her some space. You can all go check on Kirishima tomorrow morning if you want to."
Everyone nodded nervously, and Mr. Aizawa walked back to his room. Once he left everyone in the common room, Iida made sure Ashido was okay.
"Ashido, what's wrong? Is Kirishima okay?" Iida asked him.
Ashido didn't say anything as she stood there wearing her winter jacket. Midoriya and Uraraka looked worried about her and noticed that she had been crying. Ashido knew that they all deserved to know that he was doing okay since they were waiting for them.
"Y-Yeah... He's okay... He just needs to sleep there for tonight..." Ashido said to them.
They all felt so relieved that he was okay. Once they relaxed however, some of them noticed that Bakugo hadn't come back with her.
"Hey, where's Bakugo? Didn't he go to the Nurse's Office with you?" Kaminari asked her.
That seemed to catch Ashido's attention, and her head whipped up to look at everyone in the common room. Her eyes were wide, and then she spotted Midoriya and Uraraka. Once she saw how concerned they looked, she looked away and worried that she might cry again. She looked down at her hand, remembering what went down between them in the Nurse's Office.
"I-I just..." Ashido said as she trailed off, "I just don't wanna talk about it... I'd rather just go back to our sleepover..."
Some of them felt like something happened in the Nurse's Office, but let it slide for now. Midoriya and Uraraka noticed how sad she looked when she walked over to the couches in the common room. The fort was taken down and cleaned up, so she sat down. She noticed her sleeping bag folded up next to Kirishima's along with Buddy jr. She felt something hurt when she saw it altogether but tried not to cry. She grabbed her sleeping bag and got into it feeling so much comfort from it. Then she looked at Buddy jr. and hesitated to hold it. Once she felt tears coming up, she grabbed it and hugged it close.
Everyone knew that something was wrong, but didn't dare intervene. Something about it felt like this was bound to happen. Midoriya and Uraraka wanted to comfort her, knowing full well that something about this had to do with Bakugo.
They soon walked up to her, feeling like she needed someone to lean on. Ashido felt Uraraka and Midoriya sit next to her along with everyone else and fell into Uraraka's arms. She soon realized that she couldn't find it in her to cry and just needed someone to comfort her.
Everyone felt so bad for her, even if no one knew what exactly was going on. Midoriya and Uraraka were the only ones that knew somewhat why she was so upset.
Soon enough, Ashido fell asleep while they all watched a movie together. She had no tears left to cry.
