I wrote this chapter last week. Forgot about it. And came back to my save folder wondering why there was a finished chapter sitting here un-edited. Whoops. Let's not do that again.

-Story Start-

There was something to be said about Remnant and its people. They were a more resilient lot, used to the weird and the unorthodox. When it was a very real threat that monsters made of the night and darkness could crawl from the sewers to eat you alive, well you got used to surprises. Never mind that a certain part of the population trained in order to use their own personal superpowers to defeat said monsters? Well seeing someone fly through the air or carry around a weapon three times their size just wasn't something to worry about anymore.

These were thoughts that crossed Cinder's mind as Lady Ino and Lady Tayuya walked in front of her, escorting her through the halls of Beacon Academy as they left the library to journey towards the Headmaster's office. These were two individuals that had more power and ability than probably every Hunter on the planet. Bonus, they continued to warn her that their husband was even stronger than them. Her world view was already more skewed than most thanks to Salem. This just turned it completely on its head. If only these children here at Beacon knew what walked in their midst, if only they could understand.

"So I'm telling you, I think this'll work out perfectly. I have an idea for some fun and I want to get this done so little Cinder and I can take a road trip of our own." Ino was all smiles as they weaved between students, out in the halls between classes. Flipping her hair as a trio of boys nearly tripped over themselves trying to watch her, Ino gave herself a half a point. Captivating teenagers wasn't all that impressive, but still worth it.

Everything in her wanting to roll her eyes but deciding not to, Tayuya ran a hand around to pull her braided hair over her shoulder. Naruto's jacket sure was comfortable, even if it was like wearing a blanket, "Your idea of fun and my idea of fun are two different things." Ino wanted to take over the world, even if she wouldn't admit it. Tayuya was enjoying herself learning about their history, though that was going to run out soon. Messing with Qrow had reminded her of her other favorite pastime. Breaking idiots. "Have I reminded you lately that you're insane?"

"It'll be fiiine. Stop being such a worry wort, it'll be fun."

Finally giving in and rolling her eyes, Tayuya does agree that the plan does have merit. "I'll drop any complaints I would have then. So long as you clean up your own mess if things go wrong." A sidelong look showed Ino preening looking very satisfied with herself. "Do you happen to know where Naruto ran off to?"

Shaking her head as the halls started to empty, Ino folded her hands behind herself, "No clue. I felt some mirth through our link and then he was gone, dragging someone else along with him." Tayuya lead them to an elevator, the inside rather plush and thankfully no awful waiting music to be had. "I think he had that bird guy with him. He homed in on the tag he placed at the White Fang rally."

"Great, he's starting a road trip then. Think he'll pull the same stunt he did with Jiraiya?"

"He ever tell you what they did? Jiraiya went cold turkey after that. Hell, the old lecher almost never left Tsunade's side for a while." Anything that scared Jiraiya that much had to be bad news. Ino thought it was interesting though and wanted to know, but somehow Naruto always found a way to distract them from the topic. Maybe she should stop asking about it late at night or when they were alone.

Tayuya shook her head, "Nope. Though the new crater just outside of Bear country has to be his work. It's like, a full kilometer in diameter and deep enough to have its own weird climate." That had solidified for her that there was nothing Naruto could not do if he put his mind to it. Best to just roll with it and make sure he came back with all his appendages. Oh, and none of the kids are involved.

Cinder finally couldn't help herself, speaking up as the pair chuckled in unison. "Does your husband…Naruto, regularly cause wanton destruction?" If so she'd make sure to always be on her best behavior around him. He was starting to sound like Salem but dialed up several orders of magnitude.

Ino shook her head, "No no. Just…well once you get him going, it is a little hard to stop him." He really was much more patient than before. Probably thanks to all the kids. Now when they were younger? She shuddered as some choice memories flashed in her mind. Why would he ever think to create a seal that turned someone inside out? What normal person did that?

"So, should we take bets on how long it'll take him to track down Salem?" Tayuya had a feeling it wouldn't take long at all. Not with his senses.

"He probably already knows where she is. But you know him. He's going to take his time, meander and cause all sorts of problems for her, and then once the helplessness starts to set in he'll appear before her and beat some real manners into her." Ino knew his game, and approved. "I give him three weeks. Maybe a month. Depends on how long this Salem has been planning things out."

Cinder does lean forward to hold up a finger, "Salem has been moving in the shadows for hundreds of years. Though her latest plan is maybe two decades in the works."

Humming with the new information, Tayuya smirks as the elevator door dings and opens, "Then he's going to drag this out. He'll probably start popping back and forth between wherever he is and the school within the week." Complete opposite of what he was like when they were younger, their husband was a complete pervert. They loved it, though they were still trying to beat his stamina.

Seeing a confused Ozpin eyeing them as they walk up, Cinder asks a final question just out of earshot of the man, "Just how powerful is Naruto?"

Humming and putting a finger to her chin, Ino turns back to Cinder and winks at her, "Well, if he tried he could probably crack this world in two. But that's just for us to know, keep that to yourself, okay dear?"

"Yes ma'am." Cinder solidified in her mind that she made the correct choice. Sure some part of her believed that she shouldn't believe everything she was being told. But this was also the same family the smacked her around with no issues, threatened Salem with no consequences, and was now coming before Ozpin with one of his hated enemies on a promise that no harm would befall her. Things really had changed for her.

Watching the three women come up to his desk, Ozpin wasn't so sure what he should be feeling at the moment. He had just sent the two Uzumaki women's husband off on a quest that may or may not see him return. When Tayuya had requested an audience he had assumed that was what they wanted to address. Of course two young wives would want an explanation as to why their husband had run off with barely a word. Seeing another younger woman between them looking slightly nervous was not on his agenda. Sure they were on vacation supposedly, but this looked like a full rank Huntress. Were they bringing in a new hire? Someone they acknowledged as talented to take Naruto's spot while he was away? Guess he'd have to ask. "Good afternoon ladies, to what do I owe the visit?" At the least they weren't looking upset with him yet.

Tayuya turns slightly to Ino, a lazy finger pointing her sister's way, "This was her idea, not mine."

Seeing Ozpin's eyes turn to her, Ino relaxed a bit a waved a hand Cinder's way, "Let's call this…a small redemption project I've put together."

"Redemption?" Ozpin's questioning look did not abate and Ino nodded along as she continued.

"Yeah see. My newest apprentice here, Cinder, did you and yours a serious wrong. So she's here to correct her mistake." Ino turned and motioned for Cinder to come forward, which the younger woman reluctantly did. Bowing lightly at the waist, Cinder maintained eye contact with the slowly coming to realization Ozpin.

"My name is Cinder Fall. I was the one who led the attack on your agent. The Fall Maiden Amber. Under direction from my former Mistress, Salem, I was given a tool in order to perform the task." Cinder pulled free the Grimm glove from a pocket in her dress, dropping it on Ozpin's desk as she could see real anger boil behind those eyes. "I make no excuses for what I've done. Only that I am here to return what I've stolen." Backing away once more to stand between Ino and Tayuya, they were all treated to a rare sight. An angry Ozpin rocketing to his feet and slamming his hands onto his desk hard enough that it shuddered.

"To think you would so brazenly come here like this. What do you hope to accomplish here with such an offer? That I shall forgive you, that anyone will forgive you for what you've done?" It took some effort to quell the heat in his chest, a task made somewhat easier as Cinder did indeed lower her head with shame clear on her face. Hundreds of years of experience told him this wasn't a ruse, but that just raised more questions. His eyes turned to Ino, the apparently spearhead of this little drama. "How did you even come across this woman?

"Uzumaki luck and a little bit of information gathering talent. All that aside, I'm not going to say your anger isn't valid. But, this is about saving the life of one of your precious students isn't it? Cinder is here to return her power to her. Isn't that worth believing in her?" Ino's smile was still in place, eyes full of mirth as she stared down the Beacon Headmaster.

He had to admit, though he hadn't interacted with the blonde wife of Naruto much in all this time, he got the feeling that she knew much more than she was letting on. So little was her reaction to Salem's name. Perhaps she had questioned Cinder thoroughly before coming here. Either that or she considered all of this not worth serious consideration. A major error on her part if true, but Ozpin would have to get her up to speed on just how dangerous an opponent Salem was after this. After he decided what to do with Cinder.

Because he was on the fence about letting her near Amber.

On one hand, saving Amber's life was a top priority. The Fall Maiden was an asset that could not be replaced, by anyone else. James was still trying to convince him to forcefully remove her power via Atlas technology and transfer it into someone healthy. Dooming the girl to death, but making sure the Fall Maiden's powers couldn't fall into the wrong hands right away. It was a last resort, but one Ozpin had been considering.

On the other, this Cinder Fall had been brought to heel very thoroughly at that. If she was given the rest of the Fall Maiden's powers, she could be used as a substitute in the fight against Salem. At least until a new Maiden could be procured. Ozpin had been waffling with the idea of bringing Pyrrha Nikos into the fold recently. The young woman had talent and ability and spades and was as loyal as they came. Of course he would be dooming another young woman to a potentially gruesome fate. Amber had at least agreed to her task already.

That was the real question now, would Amber be able to take up her duties again, or would somehow forcibly ensuring Cinder could take up the mantle in her place be the better option.

Rolling her eyes, Ino slung her arm over Cinder's shoulders, almost seeing the thoughts forming behind Ozpin's searching eyes. "This one is staying with me. I've got plans for her."

Was her semblance the ability to read minds then? Ozpin knew there were an infinite amount of semblances out there with all manner of special abilities and evolutionary paths. That Ino so quickly deduced his intentions spooked him. "I assumed as much with you bringing her here. But now I have to decide if I can trust her not to harm Amber further. You must understand that." Then he turned his eyes to Cinder, hardening them once more, "I have to know. Why attack Amber in the first place and align yourself with Salem. What of your accomplices? Will you tell me where Salem is now and why you're giving this all up?"

Huffing and crossing her arms, Cinder fights to not roll her eyes. This was starting to get tedious. "I guess, in order. I was drawn in by Salem by her promise of power. I was tired of being underneath someone's boot and wanted the strength to fight back for once. I want true agency over my own life. To be strong." Eyes going hard and refusing to look away from Ozpin as she tightened her grip on her arms, "Those children are unavailable. They were under my orders, I bare the responsibility." Seeing Ozpin wanting to argue, Cinder bulls on, "As for where Salem is? Same as always. Deep within the Grimm lands, nestled safely atop her castle." Relaxing again and putting her hands on her hips, Cinder waved a hand dismissively as she considered the last of Ozpin's questions. "As for why I'm giving it up? Because I found something better. Something more real. Real to me at least, which is more than enough."

Ozpin didn't like it. Not enough to be fully on board with what was being asked of him. He needed further assurances here. Some that would most likely be impossible to get. "How can I be sure that your accomplices won't be lying in wait to do it all again? That you won't finish the job yourself?"

Actually rolling her eyes this time, Cinder just couldn't help getting frustrated with the man. Here she was in his own little castle and surrounded by enough trainee huntsmen and huntresses that even with the Maiden's power she'd probably be hard pressed to survive, and he was worried about her double crossing him now? Men. "You have nothing but my word. Though I suppose I shouldn't expect you to accept that."

Ino nudged her once and took a half step forward to draw attention her way. "I'll vouch for her in this. If she or her kids cause any trouble, you can lay the blame at my feet." It wasn't like they could do much to her anyway so it was an easy concession to make.

"While I admire your trust in this woman Mrs. Uzumaki, the fact remains that she is a wanted criminal. I can't just let her go free."

"Sure you can. Consider what you're getting out of this deal. Besides, should I bring up the fact that my husband is out on a mission with a high chance of him dying? I feel like that should have been prudent information to share." Now that was an outright lie. Not only did she and Tayuya know exactly where Naruto was at all times, they both knew it would take a literal Kami in order to kill him now. Something this world seemed to be lacking.

"Ah, right. So you are upset about that then."

"Upset isn't the right word to use, but we'll go with that for now." Still smiling, Ino promised herself not to boil the man's brain in his skull. She wanted information, knowledge that only he had. Normally she wouldn't be above walking his mind, but that would suck the fun out of things. "So what say you. Let Cinder give back the power. I can heal up this Amber girl, and then Cinder and I will go. Out of your hair and not your concern anymore."

Deciding that continuing to argue over this would be futile, Ozpin finally gives up and sit back down in his chair. He knew when he was being railroaded into a decision. It had only been a long, long time since that had happened. "You are a powerful woman Mrs. Uzumaki, I can see Naruto has his work cut out for him."

"I appreciate the flattery, but I'm married, so no cookies for you." Ino ignored Tayuya's groan. This was her fun, not the redhead's.

Calmer eyes turning back to the black haired huntress, Ozpin couldn't bring himself to smile at her but he could nod her way at least with some respect. "Admittedly it is always welcome to see someone have a positive change of heart. Turning away from the darkness takes courage. Strength. Something even veterans twice your age fail at." Hands forming a steeple in front of him, Ozpin's tone did firm up, "Trust is a different matter and being frank about it, I do not trust you."

Cinder could understand that. "Of course. Trust is the be earned, and I have a long road ahead of myself to do so." If that was even what her mistress wanted. Ino had said she would be free to do as she pleased once her training was complete, but something told Cinder that the Uzumaki had a plan for her. A great purpose. "Though of course, all the same to you, it would be for the best if our paths never cross again."

Ino chuckled as she could feel the tension leaving Ozpin finally. At least he knew when to relax, "You'll be much too busy with me to even consider getting in Ozpin's way after this. Just you wait." First and foremost, Ino was going to drill some real physical conditioning into the young woman. Her and her children.

Ozpin's eyes turn to Tayuya, the other Uzumaki that he had at least spent some time with as a member of his faculty. She had a sharp mind, and was someone else he was coming to trust. "What say you to all of this?" It certainly didn't look like she had been in the loop about what Ino had been planning to do.

Shrugging, Tayuya ignores the whispering going on between Ino and Cinder as she kept her eyes on the Headmaster. "Though I wasn't involved with this and Ino can be a lot of things."

"Hey!"

"But she is a near perfect judge of character. If she believes Cinder is worth the effort, then she is. End of story. I have no reason to question it." Tayuya mentally smirked, just happy that Ino's plan didn't include bringing Cinder into the bedroom Olympics.

Wanting to be able to take them at their word, heartfelt as they may be, years of experience told him he just couldn't do that. He needed more. "If I am to trust her around Amber, do you assure me that in the worst case, you could restrain her if she has a sudden change of heart."

Tayuya was the first to speak up, cutting off what was looking like a full hour long lecture from Ino. "Is it necessary for you to trust her and get this done?"

"Absolutely."

Rolling her eyes and holding up a hand, Tayuya pulls at her power a small amount. Chakra condensed and molded. A thin white chain fed its way out from her palm to snake out and twist around Cinder's wrists, lashing them together and cutting her off from her Semblance and the Maiden's power. Snapping the chain from her palm but keeping a smaller connection via chakra string so the impromptu bonds didn't fade away, Tayuya huffed and put her hands on her hips, "That good enough? She can't use her powers so long as those are on."

Eyes wide and unblinking, Ozpin stood as he focused on the glowing white manacles. He could certainly feel the difference in Cinder with those on. To cut someone off from their own Semblance. Fascinating. "That will suffice. How does your Semblance work? I'd love to study it if we have the time in the future." Looking up and locking eyes with Tayuya, he noted that she remained silent on the matter. Well, he supposed he wasn't entitled to know such information was he? Plus studying another's semblance could become a rather intimate affair, right. Bad idea. "Never mind. Come. I suppose if you're going this far to prove she's worth it, then I shall give her a chance. Let's head down to the basement." Twice in one day, Amber was sure popular wasn't she? If the girl was awake she might giggle about that.

Ino nodded and stretched her arms above her head as Ozpin grabbed his cane and led the way back towards the elevator, "Good. Cause I'm ready for lunch and a few meetings. It's going to be a busy few days." Plus she and Cinder needed to pick up her kids, she wanted to meet the little brats.

Ozpin smiled, wanting to believe that this was the for best. Amber would be healed, her powers restored and hopefully one of their enemies would be off the board permanently. Salem was running out of options. Always a plus in his book.

He'd just have to remember to call Naruto and inform him to return if this worked out. Best not to have him and Qrow running from nation to nation for no reason. Plus, he had a sneaking suspicion that things were only going to get worse the longer the blonde man was away. As if he was actually the one holding things together around here lately. His students were a rowdy bunch now which was becoming some cause for concern. Maybe he should prioritize that phone call.

Not so far away and moved into a renovated office space, Naruto was all grins as he relaxed into a very plush and comfortable couch as a drink was handed to him. His nose pegged it as something sweet but with an oak flavor, but his first sip told him whiskey right away. Good stuff. He'd need to ask for the maker. "Mmmm Sienna, you are amazing. Thanks for accepting us today."

Noting the human off to the side groaning and looking for all the world that he wished he was anywhere else, Sienna smirked at the blonde man who had waltzed into her space today. Playing up Naruto's role in the White Fang had done wonders for them. Vale's council was seeming to move into a new direction and she in turn was gaining more favor within the party. Though he didn't like it, even the usually impatient Adam seemed to be at least seeing the positive for what it was. Yes. It wasn't as fast as any of them would like. Yes, even she would like to see some real change. Maybe a law or two actually passed. But at least they weren't being treated like their voices were mute. And it was all thanks to the man sitting before her as she lounged on the other side of the coffee table, a fresh drink in her own hand as she relaxed, "You are a friend to the Fang, I could do no less than to see to your curiosity. What brings you in today?"

Head lolling from one side to the other, Naruto had noted as they were escorted up into Sienna's personal office that the warehouse was being emptied out. Stacks upon stacks of cargo boxes and freight containers. Bound for where he didn't know but it wasn't his problem now. Ino was diving into domestic affairs, so he was going to focus on bigger fish. "Looks like you're packing up. Leaving so soon?"

Seeing the pleasantries for what they were, Sienna nodded and motioned to the aids moving about around her office, "Yes well. We had more success here than we originally anticipated so my time here is no longer necessary. Things are picking up, moving in a way here in Vale that I never could have expected. No small thanks to you, our resident Faunus instructor."

"I'm happy to help."

"You have no idea how happy the rest of us are. Real progress Naruto. We've been hoping for this for ages. Not flowery words or cheap misdirection. But real possible law on the books progress." Once more eyeing his injuries, or rather his removed features, she reminded herself that perhaps he knew more than the rest of them. So instead she raised a glass to him, "Personally, I would like to thank you. Naruto Uzumaki. You've helped us greatly. Even if you pulled back now, I would be grateful to you still." He certainly did more for them than that blowhard Ozpin.

Shrugging but understanding that he had helped them out, possibly more than most on this world, Naruto smiled softly and raised his glass to her as well, "I'm happy to help Sienna. Wouldn't dream of backing away from that now."

"I assumed you would say as much, but higher ups do not wish to burn you out right away. You are an asset Naruto. One we must protect." Sienna took a sip of her wine, eyeing Naruto quietly for a moment before placing her glass down on the table. "Our next move will require a bit more group approval so I'm heading back to headquarters. I'd like to convene with them, maybe find some other ways we can build on our success here."

Humming along and thinking, Naruto snapped his fingers and sat up a bit straighter, eyes shining as Sienna focused on him with some surprise. "I find myself with some free time. I wouldn't mind coming along."

"I did just say we don't want to over work you." Sienna made the mental note, Naruto seemed to be one always willing to help.

Waving a hand dismissively, Naruto was still all smiles. "Don't worry about it. I've got plenty of energy to spare." Seeing Sienna's eyes trail to the slightly out of it Qrow, Naruto understood widened his grin, "Don't worry about him. He's my tag along, he'll be a good boy."

"Not like I have much of a-"

"Besides, he's curious about the plight of the Faunus. Really wants to help out."

"I didn't say anything about-"

"I'll take responsibility if he does something stupid."

"I'm getting railroaded here."

"Oh hush, everyone has a choice. Even you." Naruto finally turned to smirk at Qrow and they stare at each other for a long moment before Qrow scoffs and pulls his flask from his jacket. Taking a long pull, he missing Naruto nodding and turning back to an amused Sienna.

"You have an interesting dynamic."

Naruto's smirk grew, "We're interesting dudes. But we're also on a small mission. Hunting down someone extremely dangerous and powerful."

Seeing a potential chance to tie themselves further to the man, Sienna leans forward, "Will you require Fang assistance? I'm sure we can provide manpower if necessary." It might spread them thin, but if Naruto was involved it would most likely prove useful.

Really thinking about it, Naruto considered what it would mean to have the White Fang along for the ride. Would it be fun in the end? Probably. Necessary to him? Not at all, he already knew where Salem was and Amber's attacker was back at Beacon. Although him aligning further with the White Fang might cause a headache for Qrow and Ozpin, which was both worth it and not worth it. Ozpin had been good to him and seemed to have his heart in the right place. Plus he still felt like he might owe the bird one. No, best to be nice for now and do this part on his own. Plus that would allow him to get a bit more, creative. "While the offer is tempting, I'll have to pass. The White Fang is already stretched thin isn't it? What I'm doing I can handle on my own. But I'll keep ya in mind if I do need some extra hands." Naruto felt out with his senses. Someone connected with Salem was out West. He didn't know what was in that direction, but Qrow would know, so that was enough. "We're headed West, so I guess if you have anyone out that way, probably warn them that I'll be in the area."

Sitting back and thinking about it, Sienna was happy with Naruto at the moment. It was rare for a man to think further than just his mission. He was worried about the Fang's forces and had noticed that their recruitment was not doing the best right now. A strong mind and a strong body. Interesting. "Well West means Vacuo. We have a larger presence in the area so I'll send a few coded messages along. You'll have our full support if you should need it."

That was curious, why such a strong presence in this Vacuo place? Naruto had meant to read up a bit more on Remnant's history but had left that to Tayuya. He was starting to regret that a bit now. "How are things there?" Oh well, he'd call her up and have her speed run him a history lesson later.

Sighing and relaxing back in her plush chair, Sienna lets her mind wander as she considers Naruto's question. "You'd think that after all this time after the war that things would have gotten at least a little better. Reallocation of resources, anti-discrimination laws, the works. Yet nothing changed. The SDC and the Mistral Trading Company continue to drain Vacuo of its resources." But things had changed lately here in Vale. Could they build on that success and bring it to Vacuo now? "Maybe…hmm. I'm sorry to say that support in Vacuo will be limited but give me some time. I'll make sure you'll have whatever you should require once you are there." She might have to burn a few favors, but it would be well worth it.

Grinning, Naruto could see gears turning in Sienna's head, "I could help out. Attend a few rallies or talk to some of the local big shots."

Sienna couldn't deny that Naruto had the charisma, and it would be a major help. "Would you be willing to talk to the Headmaster of Shade Academy? If you could work your magic in Vacuo, we would be even more in your debt."

"There's no debt when it comes to helping the people." That was something Naruto really did mean. Helping people was still part of who he was.

'Oh yes, because stopping these useless idiots from killing one another for a short while is so worth it.'

Not this again. 'Who pissed in your Miso this morning? I thought you were starting to warm up to Remnant?'

'While there are certainly some people here worth the effort, on a whole they are lost. Souls broken. Once you leave they'll go right back to killing one another just as they were before. Removing the threat of the Grimm will not last longer than a generation. Two if they are lucky.'

'I think you should have more faith in the human spirit.'

'That is your doing. Mine is to leave worlds a smoldering wasteland.'

Mentally counting the days, Naruto sighed and nodded his head,'It has been a while huh? I'll flash you back and let you and Matatabi go at it.'

'I'm not cranky just because I have been forcibly celibate!'

'Never said that buddy.'

Grumbling in the wide expanse of Naruto's soul, a grass filled clearing at the edge of a vast sea, Kurama laid his head on his paws,'I just believe that this is a useless chore is all. Not worth our time.'

'We might get a chance to knock some idiots around though. Plus, it's a new place that knows nothing about me and it's been a while since we've blown something up.'

'Hmmm, now you're starting to make some sense.'

Feeling Kurama settle back in his mind, Naruto blinked and turned to Qrow as barely a breath had passed as he and his brother talked. "You ready for a road trip?"

Holding up a finger and waving it, Qrow gave Naruto a dead look, "Woohoo~"

Waving the gloomy man off, Naruto was once more all smiles as he turned back to Sienna, "Don't mind him. He's excited, he just can't let go of the broody look around pretty women."

Breath hitching for a moment, Sienna gives Naruto a hooded look, "You are an interesting man Naruto Uzumaki." Certainly easy on the eyes as well. Silently she gave thanks he was without his jacket today, those arms looked sturdy.

"Sienna dear, you don't know the half of it." Now to figure out just how they were going to reach Vacuo. And not blow up everything along the way or let Qrow's little semblance derail their journey.

With a quiet hiss Amber's stasis pod once more finished opening, revealing the injured and sleeping woman to Ozpin and his three visitors. Standing at her head Ozpin kept a sharp eye on Cinder as she walked to stand at Amber's right. Wrists bound by white chains still, Ozpin's cautious nature still could not let go of the fact that this woman had put Amber here in the first place. The only saving grace in his mind was that she was as powerless as any other normal human now.

Feeling the eyes on her, Cinder sighed and turned to Ino who took up a position at Amber's feet, "What shall I do my Lady? I don't know how to transfer the power on my own."

Lifting a hand to point at Tayuya who was coming to Amber's left, Ino smirked, "Oh don't worry. Just hold out your hands, Tayuya will handle the complicated bit."

"Oh yes, I'll do all the work. Kami I'm making you watch the desk when we return home. Volunteering me for work like this." Senses out and searching, Tayuya shivered at the damage she could feel within the sleeping woman between them all. So this was what a broken soul felt like, no wonder Ozpin was so angry. This was abhorrent. "Hold out your hands Cinder."

"Yes Ma'am." Doing as she was told, Cinder watched as Tayuya took both of her hands into one of her own, while another was placed gently against Amber's chest.

Closing her eyes to focus better, Tayuya circulated chakra through her system. Touching both women as she was, it was easier to get a feel for the energy that was similar within them. But chakra alone wasn't going to be enough to pull the Maiden power from Cinder. Not fully integrated yet with her soul, but it would require a firmer pull. "Great." Refusing to complain, she dove deeper into her own power. Body beginning to glow, her skin began to darken while golden horns grew and surrounded her scalp like a crown.

New to this, Ozpin was fascinated by the change overcoming Tayuya. "Amazing…" Not only had she grown a few inches in height but the feeling coming from her was tangible. Despite her more feral looks, it was a calming aura. It made him want to lay down and take a nap even. What an interesting semblance.

Ignoring Ozpin's fascination with her, Tayuya formed two new white chakra chains. Both sprouted from her back, laced with more seals than she'd be able to explain but necessary for this purpose. One gently placed itself against Amber's navel where the surrounding area began to glow a dim yellow and orange. The other settled against Cinder in the same position, yellow and orange mixed with a deep red. She opened one black and gold eye, staring into Cinder's very soul, "No sugarcoating this. It's gonna hurt."

Taking a deep and firming breath, Cinder nodded. "It is the least I can expect for what I have done. I am prepared." Pain she was used to. At least this time, the punishment was certainly deserved.

Feeling some concern, Ino leaned in towards Cinder as Tayuya's chains began to glow, "I can dampen the pain. Give you a sedative." Self flagellation was not something new to Ino. More than a few ninja did the same when they had to answer for their wrongs.

Shaking her head Cinder smiled at her new Mistress, one that actually cared for her well being, "No. Perhaps with this, I can redeem myself somewhat for the pain that I have caused."

Eyes closed again as she could feel the motherly pride coming from Ino, Tayuya focused on what she was looking for. Amber's core was quick to locate, a few experimental pushes and pulls showed her that the energy she had was relatively easy to move around in this state. Thus it was a simple matter to find the same core in Cinder. Hot and vibrant like a wildfire and just as dangerous, the power she had stolen meshed with her well in the end. But it wasn't hers and Tayuya could see the distinction now with her Sage chakra running through her. Gently but firmly, she latched onto the stolen portion of Amber. "Ready?"

Feeling the chain pressing into her navel beginning to warm, Cinder nodded her head once, "Yes."

Sucking her teeth because she knew Cinder was not prepared for what was about to occur, Tayuya began to pull. "Here we go."

Pain. So much pain. This was worse than anything she had ever felt before in her life. Worse than the shock collar the madam put on her. Worse than all the training and fighting she had ever done in her life up until now. Her very soul was being pulled and torn, and every nerve in her body seemed to be screaming at the loss. It was through sheer force of will that she was able to stand, her screams stifled behind harsh breathing even as she began to sweat and tremble in place.

Eyes going between the suffering Cinder and the glowing chains produced by Tayuya, Ozpin turned to Ino, "Can I assist in some way?"

"No. Don't touch either of them, unless you want your soul torn to shreds." Ino knew this process wasn't going to be easy. Injuries to the soul were already so terribly difficult to heal, but transferring power along with it? Certainly Tayuya would love the chance to learn about how semblances work here on this world. But none of them ever liked causing others pain.

With a mental yank, the stolen half of Amber's soul detached from Cinder. Tayuya began the full transfer back to the comatose woman. "Now the shitty part."

Feeling the power leave her, Cinder's body began to grow hotter by the second. Every part of her was now on fire and an unseen force was all that was keeping her standing. She lost her fight with her self control as something within her connected with the broken women beneath her. She couldn't tell if the screaming was all her own.

Ozpin's nerves began to fray as both Cinder and Amber began to scream all at once together. Eyes open and unseeing, he noted they both were glowing a stark and bright orange. Once more his eyes sought out the calm Ino, "Is this-"

"It's normal, yes. Right now they are both connected at the soul. It'll pass once the power is completely transferred." Her hands tightly gripped the base of the stasis pod, careful not to circulate any chakra within her body out of fear she would crush and dismantle the fragile machinery. "It'll be over soon."

Tayuya had to admit, though she didn't like the idea of this world's abilities being tied to their souls, it was certainly beautiful. Both of these women, they had little in common, but what they did share? It resonated and burned like a supernova. In another life. Another time. Maybe they would have been good friends, allies. Possibly even more. But now, as the power of the Maiden completely left Cinder and settled within Amber, Tayuya sighed as she pulled her chains away. Eyes opening and watching both women's bodies pulse in unison once, she noted Ino rushing to catch Cinder as she collapsed now that Tayuya wasn't holding her in place with a locking seal. "It's done." Letting the chains around Cinder's wrists fade away, Tayuya sighed and let her transformation fade as well. She wiped away the small amount of sweat that had formed at her brow and turned to the fretting Ozpin. "Give her some time, but from what I can feel, Amber will recover. Full recovery will take time and work, but I think she can manage it."

Standing and holding the panting and trembling Cinder to her side, Ino eyed Ozpin, "There we go. All done just as promised. Satisfied?"

Nodding quickly, Ozpin's eyes didn't leave the slowly breathing Amber. "Immensely." Even now her color was returning to normal, her skin taking on a more healthy looking hue she hadn't had for months now.

Which lead into shock for him as Amber coughed roughly several times before her eyes slowly opened. Head rolling from one side to the other, her gaze first landed on the redhead standing over her left. "Ugh-*cough cough*-who…who are…who're you?"

Smirking and shifting her weight to one hip, Tayuya crossed her arms, "The woman who just gave you back your powers and healed ya. Names Tayuya."

So it hadn't been a dream then. She had felt like she was being embraced by a true Goddess, all warmth and gentle care, before the pain had started. "It…it feels like I got hit by a truck."

Leaning into her view, Ozpin smiled at her softly, "Let's be grateful you are alive at all."

"Headmaster…" Eyes shifting to the silver haired man, Amber tried to convey what she wanted to say. Her emotions were a jumbled mess at the moment, some of which she was sure weren't all her own. Mind settling on that, her gaze drifted to a blonde woman holding up the reason she was so broken. "You."

Smirking and locking eyes with the invalid, Cinder refused to back down, "Me."

Sharing a look with the broken woman, Amber had a easier time locking down what she was feeling at the moment towards Cinder Fall. Whether she had meant for it to happen or not, their souls had been joined together. Closer than any two people could ever hope to be in reality, they could literally say they were soul mates. Attached and bonded. Which meant, she knew in her heart why Cinder had done everything that she had done. "How was it, being all powerful?"

Chuckling and earning a surprised gaze from Ozpin, Cinder flipped her hair once, "In a word? Euphoric."

"Yeah? Well, no more test drives for you. Build up your own power from now on." No matter what she felt in her mind, she couldn't bring herself to hate the woman before her. It was like trying to hate herself. "Best if we don't interact for a long while."

"No argument from me. Once of that was more than enough."

Blinking and trying to understand what was going on, Ozpin turned to Tayuya. Already her body had changed back to what he was used to. "Why are they like this?"

"The transfer linked them together at the soul level. Something like that. A breath or a lifetime, it makes no difference. Everything they are and were was laid bare before the other. Doesn't leave a lot of room to not come out of that with an understanding between each other."

Relaxing completely with a sigh, Amber closed her eyes as she decided a nap was in order. "Ozpin?"

"Hu-yes?" Focusing on his charge, Ozpin felt like her tone had shifted already. More strength there, more herself.

"No offense. But get bent." And then she was out like a light, leaving behind more than a little confusion as all of the remaining women turned curious gazes to the old man in their midst.

One who sighed and shook his head, "That is probably well deserved." He had more than enough to answer for over the years. He considered it a blessing that Amber did not fall like Summer had, but even so…so many mistakes to atone for.

Something both Ino and Tayuya could see playing over his face, and both women decided not to focus on it. Ino instead hefting Cinder up and shrugging, "Well, guess it's time for us to get a move on. Places to go, people to see."

Tayuya grunted but smiled at her sister all the same, "You better bring me back something interesting. And don't go overboard."

"When do I ever?"

"All the time Ino. All the time."

Ignoring the women bickering, Ozpin said a silent prayer. He had to thank Naruto for this later. If he had never agreed to teach here, this never would have come to pass. Ozpin owed the man much more than he could ever repay. Now. He just needed to see Amber healthy again.

Dropping a load of firewood to the ground with a groan, Yang stretched out her back and flexed her sore arms while her team set about their little campsite, "Why am I always the one to get the firewood?"

Ruby looked up from where she was tapping away at her scroll, planning for tomorrow and their return to the school campus. "Do you really have to ask that?" Ruby held up a dainty arm and flexed. That nothing changed didn't deter her in the slightest. "You're the muscle brain." Hearing Weiss snicker from next to her as she was preparing their dinner, Ruby gave herself ten points.

"You make it sound like I'm a trained monkey." Yang dropped to a fallen log that her partner Blake was using to lay on and relax, reading by the firelight as they all sat around the fire. "I could cook too."

Ruby shuddered as did the rest of the girls, before pointing a finger at her big sister, "You stay far away from our food. You've got the taste buds of a zombie."

"I'm not that bad."

Without looking Blake reached up from her laid down position and patted her friend on the thigh, "You are that bad, but we still like you anyway."

Rolling her eyes and deciding not to launch into a tirade of teasing, Yang finally relaxed and focused on her sister a bit. "What're you working on their Rubes?"

Making adjustments to the design, Ruby continued to tap away. "I'm thinking about doing something nice for Professor Uzumaki. If it wasn't for him, we'd never be improving like we are. He goes so far above and beyond any of the other teachers and just. Don't you think we could show him some appreciation?"

Shrugging and thinking about it, Yang could see where Ruby was coming from. Naruto was good at not only pointing out their flaws, but giving them routes to fix them and then improve. These weekly forest runs were merely the test bed for them to show and refine those improvements. She didn't want to consider how much work it took to bring all these Grimm here, but Naruto did it week after week. "Well, weapons are your specialty, is that what you're thinking?"

Not looking away from her phone, Ruby nodded once more, "Yeah. But it's hard. He only swings that massive sword of his around and his style seems to change all the time. Sometimes he's all flowing and avoidant like air. Then the next he's hard hitting and grounded like a mountain. I just don't know what he'd like."

Blake held up her book, gaining their attention. "Maybe not a weapon then? He is a professor. Maybe he'd like a good book."

Weiss Shrugged as she began portioning off the simple rice and chicken dish she had prepared with their camp stove. "Or we could take the logical route. Talk to his wife in the library. She's bound to have useful information we can use." Besides, a book, really? That Neanderthal never sat still and didn't have the personality that screamed bookworm.

"That's not a bad idea." Ruby finally looked up from her scroll, putting it away as Yang was eyeing her partner with a new leer.

Yang put a hand to her chin as she eyed up Weiss, "Interesting that you even know who Naruto's wife is. Is there some light stalking going on?" It wasn't like the ice princess had a shortage of hopeful suitors, but it would fit her character to be into older men.

Rolling her eyes as she was most certainly not interested in the loud and brash Uzumaki, Weiss instead pointed a ladle at the over developed older sister of her partner, "As if we all haven't caught them being lovey dovey around campus at one point or another." Weiss could admit that the red headed woman was very beautiful, completely model status.

The rest of the girls hummed in approval as Ruby looked up into the dark tree cover, "Mrs. Uzumaki is pretty strong too isn't she? Think we could convince her to spar with us?"

Yang sighed and rolled her left shoulder repeatedly, "Don't get your hopes up Rubes, she's a librarian for a reason." They all perked up as they could hear gunfire and explosions nearby. Tilting her head just so, Yang smirked as she heard a familiar cackle. "Team lovebirds is close."

Ruby turned to her sister with a confused look, "Lovebirds?"

"While it is nice that Jaune has decided to take being a Hunter seriously, I wish he and Pyrrha would get it over with already." Weiss was glad Jaune wasn't following her around so much anymore. It freed her up to pursue her own ambitions. But now watching Pyrrha of all people pine after the boy all love struck was starting to get annoying. "To think, she could have anyone she so chose."

Still confused, Ruby turned to Yang, "What'd I miss? I mean, it's great Jaune's stayed right? But what's this about lovebirds? You mean Ren and Nora?"

Blake sighed and Yang started to chuckle, "I'm pretty sure Nora's idea of romance involves explosions and hitting the gym."

Another snort had Yang nearly doubling over, "She's my gym buddy."

"We know." The rest of the team all responded at once, having been dragged to the gym on more than one occasion by the brawler duo.

Sighing and not getting her answer, Ruby turned back to Weiss, "So what, Jaune and Pyrrha? Are you sure?"

Weiss pressed a disposable plate with food into Ruby's lap, "You're probably the only one who doesn't see it at this point. You need to mature some more."

"I'm mature!"

"You're adorable little sis, don't you worry."

Sulking and taking the plastic fork from her partner Ruby dug into the healthy and spartan meal, "I can be mature." Boy's just had cooties, that was all. "Still, Jaune's improved so much, his team too."

Yang did nod at that as Weiss came over to hand her and Blake plates of their own, "You can say that again. A strong breeze could have blown him over before."

"Though, Headmaster Ozpin had him pegged even before the improvement." Blake gained everyone's attention as something dark and vile screamed in the distance, "Jaune's character could never be questioned. Sure he was a bit of a horn dog at first, but in battle he is a focused and talented tactician."

Understanding that Blake was right, Weiss plopped down next to the still sulking Ruby and retrieved her own food, "It would be nice if he could stop asking me out."

Pointing her fork at the white and blue focused girl, Yang winked at her, "Oh come on, maybe now you could give him a shot. Could be fun. Or at the least, maybe it'll light a fire under Pyrrha to get a move on."

Groaning, Weiss focused on her food, "I swear to all that is holy, if I have to lock them in a closet, I will." Taking a dainty bite and making sure to chew thoroughly before swallowing, Weiss eyed Yang, "Plus, I have no need to be lovesick over some feckless boy." She was the Heir to the Schnee Dust Company. She had higher sights than just being a Huntress.

Smirking and exchanging a look with Yang, Blake's ears twitched as she dug into her food, "Oh I think Weiss is just a little more focused on someone else. Someone a little…older."

Pausing as another fork full of food was halfway to her mouth, Weiss blinked quietly, "What-what do you mean?"

Shrugging her shoulders and smiling, Blake had all the air of someone giving up information that should be trivial. "Just that, I've been noticing lately that your looks towards a certain Professor have been rather focused of late. Very, unladylike at that."

Faking surprise, Yang latches onto Blake's comment even as Weiss was starting to turn a bright shade of red, "No wonder she knows about the wife. She's sizing up the competition!"

"I-I am not! I want nothing to do with that Overlord of a teacher!"

Blake giggled as Yang nodded her head sagely, "I think the lady dost protest to much."

"Xiao-Long, I swear I will freeze you to a tree!"

Blake turned to her partner and placed a hand on her shoulder, "It's not nice to tease a lady about her first love."

Humming loudly and crossing her arms, Yang nodded along, "You're right Blake, I should be more sensitive about this."

Eyes turning between the two, Weiss couldn't decide between extreme violence or ignoring the two, "Childish. The both of you."

"You love us Weiss Cream."

"Like a bad rash!"

Ignoring her team bickering back and forth, Ruby smiled as she finished off her food and relaxed back to look up at the stars between the tree cover. Maybe Professor Naruto would appreciate a smaller backup weapon, since he had that super massive sword. Maybe a handgun that fired grenades? Or a short barrel shotgun? She'd go back to planning and designing. In the morning she'd hunt down Mrs. Uzumaki too, never hurt to be thorough.

"MUAHAHAHAHA, I AM THE EXPLOSION QUEEN! COME BEFORE ME AND DESPAIR!" There was another explosion and Ruby watched a crumbling Nevermore arc through the air while trailing smoke. Another wonderful end to a day at Beacon Academy.

Anyone else having a hard time uploading files lately? I'm having to copy and paste everything in right now and it's slowly things down a bit. Oh well, FF being FF I suppose.

Naruto and Qrow gear up for a road trip, though Qrow certainly isn't happy about it. Ino has plans for Remnant, while Ozpin seems to be getting back a maiden. Will Amber be happy about the current state of affairs? Time will tell.
