After depositing their bounties, they returned to the village by teleporting in their usual training ground where their clones are present. Their clones dispelled and Naruto and Sasuke were just a bit annoyed about the way Sayori and Menma treated them in class.
"hmm! They are just shocked that we got the same score as the did in everything" Said Naruto with a huff
Both of them headed to the forest of death since their clones were able to make the anbu loose their trail.
"I sense Kabuto is heading this way. And the Anbu black ops are in a hurry to find something. This means Kabuto was most likely found out and is trying to escape the village. He mustn't have anticipated that the kumo ninjas would have failed" Said Sasuke
"Well, let's intercept him and get the scroll for ourselves. We can copy down all the jutsus in it very quickly. This part of the forest can't be seen with the magical orb which the third hokage uses." Replied Naruto
Kabuto came rushing towards them, but not particularly targeting them. But before he could go past them, he gets a powerful kick to his abdomen courtesy to Naruto.
"Yo traitor!" Naruto greeted enthusiastically
"Don't worry, they won't find us here. I have set up a mini barrier which eradicates all chakra signatures in it. Also as an added bonus, no sound will come out of this barrier" Said Sasuke sarcastically
"AH! If you would be kind enough to hand the scroll to us now, we will make sure you will not be hurt so badly" Said Naruto jovially
"You are just a bunch of academy STUDENT!" said Kabuto slowly increasing his volume
"I am a chunin! I will bring you both to lord Orochimaru! He would love both of your bloodlines!" He exclaimed
"Well he chose the other option I guess" Said Naruto nonchalantly
Both Naruto easily dealt with Kabuto without much trouble. Naruto made it so that Kabuto was pretty clawed up making sure it looks like tiger's claw. He placed the tiger's body near by which seemed dead. Sasuke and Naruto quickly used their Rinnegan to memorise and visualise how the jutsu would work like. This was one of the abilities of the Rinnegan, it can copy, visualise, and even comprehend how level jutsus work. After memorising the scroll of seals, they quickly cleaned up the place of any of the traces they made in the clearing, kept of seals a few metres apart to make it look like it just rolled off of Kabuto while he battled the tiger. They also wiped of Kabuto' s memory and destroying a good portion of his brain so as to remove all traces of any information on Orochimaru or the Kumo's involvement in this. This was done so as to make sure to keep Konoha from knowing too much which might lower competition for Konoha which might make their plans a bit more difficult to continue, or worst case scenario, a war might erupt between Konoha, Kumo and Odo which might lead to the premature creation of the Fourth Great Ninja War.
"Well, now that problem is solved! I guess we should head back to our original training ground so as to lower suspicions" Said Naruto
They quickly made their way to the training ground and started with their physical workouts. The anbu arrived a minute after the duo arrived there.
"Looks like they are safe, we should start checking the parameters to make sure Kabuto can't escape" said the anbu with the bear mask
Suddenly they felt a signal from their anbu tattoo.
"The traitor has been apprehended and the scroll is probably safe. We should go to the Hokage's tower now" Said the anbu with a mouse mask
"Looks like they found Kabuto, I guess we should head to our compounds and just rest. After what happened today I say we deserve a break!" Said Naruto with a tone of finality
"Fine, Lets meet here tomorrow at 10 AM" Sasuke relented.
They both left the training grounds and went to their compounds.
The day went by quickly. It's already time for graduation. Naruto and Sasuke met eachother at their usual breakfast place to eat.
After having their lunch, they quickly left for their examination centre.
"GOOD LUCK MENMA AND MITO! DO YOUR BEST!" Yelled Kushina
"Pass your tests with the best grades alright!" Minato told
"Of course! We are the best after all!" replied Menma cockily
Naruto just looked at them and left to write the exam not even giving them a second glance
The same thing happened with Sasuke but with Fugaku telling Sasuke not to dishonour the clan.
Both of them completed the test with record time. They were just a few seconds behind Sayori to not raise too many suspicions.
After the exams, Iruka and another jonin corrected the academy students answer sheets. They were shocked to know that 5 of the graduates got a full score in the written test. This meant that in total 4 people all got the same score, which was 100% in all fields. And they were Sayori, Sasuke, Mito and Naruto.
This means all the four get the position of top genin graduate of the year, which is a new record beating the first ever genin exam ever conducted which had the third Hokage and Danzo both tied for the rookie of the year award.
They both reported the test result to the Fourth Hokage who was equally surprised about the number of rookie of the year for this year.
That evening,
The Namikaze Uzumaki family celebrated the fact that all three of their children were on the top 5 spot. They put the celebration together with the Uchiha inviting influential clans and nobles who were residing in the leaf.
Naruto and Sasuke were trying to avoid everyone so as to not be in the spot light.
"Congrats both of you on being the rookie of the year" Said Itachi
"Thanks" replied Naruto monotonously
Sasuke just nodded. Both of them just left after that interaction
'looks like the negligence has gotten to them a bit too much' thought Itachi with a frown
"Wow Naruto! I never thought you would be the rookie of the year!" yelled Kushina
everyone just looked at both of them. Naruto just hated the way she said it. It was as if she was being condescending.
"Thank you" Naruto replied and left with keeping his outward expressions calm
Kushina just frowned about how Naruto behaved
Sasuke was nowhere to be found for Mikoto and Fugaku. Although in Fugaku' s eyes, the stronger of the twins in still Sayori since she has 3 tomoe in her right sharingan and 2 in her left which made her much more a head than Sasuke. but still Sasuke deserved his praise for getting the rookie of the year title he thought to himself.
Minato showed up a bit late with Jiraya. Both of them were discussing something very important, but they would have arrived earlier if it weren't for Jiraya peeking in the hot springs for which Minato had to drag him to the hokage tower to start their discussion.
"Congrats Naruto. I am proud of you! In the future you will be of great help for Menma and Mito when they face the world's darkness" said Minato.
"Yes father" Said Naruto slightly gritting his teeth
Jiraya just ignored Naruto, since he was of no use to the prophecy.
Minato was a bit curious on how Naruto improved soo much as to surpass Menma in academics and get on the same league as Menma and Mito in physical activities within just a few months. But before he could ask Naruto, Naruto just went missing from his eye sight. He just shoved his thoughts to the back of his mind because he had something important to say to the crowd who were gathered in the party.
Menma meanwhile was seething with anger. It was because his looser of a brother got the rookie of the year title where as he didn't. He was jealous that Naruto got a higher overall grade than himself. He thought to himself that Naruto was still weaker than him so as to rain in his anger.
"GOOD EVENING EVERYONE! THANK YOU FOR COMING TO THIS MOMENTOUS OCCASION!" Yelled Minato on top of his lungs
most just clapped.
"Today, I have a special graduation gift for my kids! I spoke to Jiraya sensei and he gave permission for Menma and Mito to sign the toad contract!" he shouted
Everyone were awed. The legendary toad summoning contract was very revered because of it's summoners and the summons battle prowess. Most were a bit jealous, but none the less just clapped for them
Both Menma and Mito got to sign the toad contract, receive a katana as a gift.
"I will also be giving them and Naruto the notes for the Hiraishin jutsu since I believe that they can crack it on their own." Continued Minato
Menma just gave a smug grin at Naruto's direction, but Naruto didn't even give him a glance for which he just scowled. Mito just saw this with an impassive gaze, not even caring a bit that Naruto got the short end of the stick.
Most didn't care Naruto didn't receive anything major from his parents since this happens usually on the triplets birthdays.
But, for Naruto and Sasuke, it was a huge breakthrough. Both with the use of the Rinnegan can comprehend and understand what the notes are on about to easily recreate the Hiraishin no Jutsu without much effort all the while Menma and Mito would take a few years to recreate it even with the help of their parents simply because it was such an advanced jutsu fuinjutsu hybrid. It took Minato about 2 years with the help of Kushina to master it (He mastered around when he was 14 I believe, since he used it when he was very young against Iwa shinobi in the one shot manga)
Naruto and Sasuke just ate and left the party to wander around the village.
"I say we should move out of our compounds and get a nice house for ourselves after we pass the test given by our jonin. We can say that it would make us more independent and mature to our fathers since they would be more supportive of this idea compared to our mothers" Said Naruto
"Yes, it would give us a lot of privacy. We can use many seals to hide things easily and use a few jutsus there without garnering suspicion" replied Sasuke
"We have about a week to find a good place. We need it to be close to the forest of death so as to make it easier for us to go there but it shouldn't be so far away from the village that we should move long distances every time we need something." Said Naruto
"From our private accounts which are officially under our names, we can get a nice 2 bedroom house on the outskirts of the nobility house. We can rent the property for atleast 5 years with that amount" Said Sasuke
"Well, tomorrow is a Sunday where we have to go for ID registration, and one Monday we will will have our team placements" Said Naruto
Both of them just walked through the village idly chatting to eachother
Sunday just went by quickly. They both got their ninja ID without much problems. The third Hokage was the one who was overlooking the process so as to lower the work load Minato had.
On Monday, in the academy classroom,
"Team 7 consists of Naruto Namikaze Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha" Iruka told
Sakura was a bit disheartened since she wasn't on Menma's team. Naruto and Sasuke fist bumped eachother since they got to be in the same team.
"HEY THAT'S NOT FAIR SENSEI!" yelled Kiba Inazuka
"Two of them are rookie of the year where as Sakura has the 4th overall best kunoichi title! Team seven is very imbalanced compared to the others you said" continued Kiba with a bit of anger
"Sit down Kiba! If you have any problems with the team placements, go take it up with the Hokage himself!" Yelled Iruka
Kiba just huffed and sat down
"As I was saying, team 8 is Kiba Inazuka, Hinata Hyuga, and Shino Aburame. Team 9 is still in circulation. Team 10 consists of Ino Yamanaka, Choji Akamichi and Shikamaru Nara. And at last, team 10 consists of Sayori Uchiha, Menma Namikaze Uzumaki, and Mito Namikaze Uzumaki!" Iruka conveyed
Kiba just thought to himself that the team placements were really unfair. And he wasn't wrong, in team 7 and 11, all 6 of the genin are the toppers of their class.
Everyone also had the same thought as Kiba.
Everyone's jonin sensei came and picked up their teams up
Kushina came in with a loud bang. She was carrying Kakashi who was very scared because she was mad that he was going to be late again for something important. Kushina glanced at Naruto, but he just ignored her.
"Well, team eleven follow me" Kushina instructed
"Team seven follow me" Ordered Kakashi
Team 7's meeting location:
"Tell me your likes, dislikes, hobbies and your dream to introduce yourselves" Said Kakashi lazily while he was reading his book
"Uh sensei, why don't you start first to show how to do it" Asked Sakura
"Well, I my likes... I like a lot of things. And I don't particularly hate many things. I have no hobby and as for my dream, I have none" Answered Kakashi vaguely
Sakura was just dumbstruck whilst the other 2 just didn't care.
"Well since you asked about me, why don't you go now" said Kakashi
"Alright sensei. Umh, I like Menma, and for my dislikes... I don't like Ino pig! and my dream is to marry Menma!" Sakura exclaimed
"well, why don't you go next Naruto?"
"I don't have many likes or dislikes. My hoppy is to train and for my dream, I have none" Said Naruto vaguely

'Well, this is the fun part. I have to break it to them that they aren't official genin yet' thought Kakashi
Kakashi gave a small but somewhat a evil laugh
"Tomorrow, we will have a training session. From your performance, I get to choose if you would re-join the academy or continue to be genin. Beware that only 33% of the graduates get to be genin, meaning that there is a 66% chance that you would fail!" Said Kakashi
"WHAT! YOU CAN'T DO THAT! WE ALREADY PASSED THE ACADEMY!" Shouted Sakura
Naruto and Sasuke didn't even flinch.
'hmm, Sasuke and Naruto must have known about the test then. But will they still pass it?' thought Kakashi
"Of course I can. The academy test was given to weed out the hopeless cases so that there would less number of genin to test" Said Kakashi
"The test given to you students are very easy and are borderline impractical since it's not going to be of much use in the real world." Kakashi continued.
"Well, meet me at training ground 7 at 7 AM. And I advice you to now eat breakfast" Said Kakashi leaving in a body flicker
Naruto and Sasuke both got up and left as well. Soon Sakura followed them and left for her home afterwards
