Chapter 46
"Why is a bondage guy their boss?" Law muttered to Rosinante.
"You hush," Rosinante chided him quietly. "You'll make me laugh."
"He looks like a little shit."
"He is one."
"He literally just had a villain laugh when we walked in," Law mocked. "Who the hell does that?"
"Just hush already," Rosinante scolded.
"He is having a villain's rant," Law insisted.
"When did you become so mouthy? You used to just glare at everything in sight," Rosinante huffed.
"Do you want me to go back to that?" Law grinned sharply. "I could."
"Please don't."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Oh look, Franky is eating Bondage-ya," Law said cheerfully. "How nice."
"Why such a pleasant tone?" Rosinante sounded really freaked out about that. "I don't think I've ever heard that come from you before!"
"It's a lovely day for cannibalism."
"LAW!"
.::.
"Why did Aokiji give you the authority over a Buster Call?" Robin asked quietly, cutting into the madman's laughter.
Spandam went abruptly silent, a mad glint in his eyes. He rushed at Robin and threw a punch right in her face. Law scowled as Robin was thrown to the floor. Spandam's chest heaved as he stared at her with wide, disgusted eyes.
"You have no right to ask me questions, you insolent woman!" Spandam screeched.
"You're a real charmer, Bondage-ya, hitting bound women and men, get a kick out of it?" Law sneered.
Rosinante grabbed his arm, holding Law in place.
"You shut up, Trafalgar Law!" Spandam stalked up to him, seething.
"Did I hurt your feelings?" Law chuckled. "Adorable. Now let's see if you've got the balls to hit me, but be warned, unlike these two I won't take it so submissively. I will cut you apart."
"Law-" Rosinante scowled.
"Or are you scared of hurting the big, bad witch?" Law smirked. "What will your higher ups do if they learn you hit me I wonder? I'm curious."
"You don't get to talk!" Spandam huffed. "You'll be locked up, just like the Straw Hats will-"
Robin's breath hitched. Spandam smiled coldly, turning to face her with a wicked smile.
"Oh yeah, the Straw Hats are here, trying to rescue you, you piece of trash. They have probably all been caught by now and are being secured! You'll be locked away together!"
"We had a deal!" Robin protested. "You would leave them alone!"
"Lucci, remind her what the deal was?"
Lucci rolled his eyes, but he obeyed. Law grimaced as the horror in Robin's eyes grew at the technicality, and she cried out in protest. Law stiffened, and was surprised when Rosinante's grip loosened on him. He met Rosinante's gaze, but Rosinante was pointedly looking away from him.
Aw, permission? Cora-san knew him so well.
"It ain't like we even need to honour a 'deal' with scum like you, you whore!" Spandam slapped her and so Law attacked, immediately slipping in behind him and wrapping his cuffs around the bastard's neck, smirking in delight at the choking gasps.
"You really think Straw Hat-ya is already down? How poor, he is too stubborn to be done in by any of you, including your strongest." Law's eyes landed on Lucci as Spandam choked out a plead for help.
Law grunted when Rosinante picked him up by his hoodie, tugging him away. Spandam choked, coughing and spluttering as Rosinante dumped Law back down on his feet a safe distance away from Spandam.
"You could have waited until he passed out," Law grumbled.
"You've caused enough trouble now," Rosinante sighed.
"Dammit, you're a thug of a witch," Spandam coughed.
"Careful how you talk about my kid," Rosinante warned him sharply. "Or I might give Kuzan a call and revoke that Buster Call of yours."
Spandam glowered, but remained silent, instead turned his attention to Robin and Franky. "Chain these two up outside. We'll take Cutty Flam to Impel Down, while Nico Robin will go with Trafalgar Law to Marineford as soon as the escort ship is ready, then we'll sail off through the Gates of Justice." Spandam scowled. "And let me tell you men one thing. Cutty Flam is dangerous- GAH!"
Said Cutty Flam was eating Spandam's head again.
.::.
"We should talk," Rosinante said as he sat down, having finished wiping off the tea from his leg.
Rosinante had taken Law to a private room after CP9 had left Bondage-ya's office. It was a comfortable lounging room, much more comfortable than where Robin and Franky had been left chained and sat on the floor. Law sipped at his tea and had even made sure to pour a cup out for Rosinante, but of course he split it on himself anyway.
"About?" Law prompted.
"Sengoku is planning to offer you a position as a Warlord," Rosinante said.
Law grimaced. "I'm not interested in working with the Marines or the World Government, we both know that."
"You don't have much of a choice here anymore, Law. You're a prisoner now under my custody," Rosinante said. "It's either that or I have to take you to Mariejois, and I don't want to do that."
"I can't say the idea thrills me either," Law grumbled. "Also, is everything fine out there? It sounds like a lot of yelling."
"I'm not paying it any mind," Rosinante said. "If we're lucky, Spandam just tripped down the stairs and broke his neck."
"We should throw a party then," Law snorted.
"V-VICE ADMIRAL!" A marine rushed in, slamming the door open.
"What is it?" Rosinante frowned.
"The Straw Hats-" The marine went pale. "T-They-"
"Oh no," Law groaned.
"What?" Rosinante's frown deepened.
"THEY BURNED DOWN OUR FLAG!"
"DON'T THEY KNOW THAT MEANS THEY'RE DECLARING WAR?!" Rosinante screeched.
"Rouge-ya is going to love this," Law said gleefully.
.::.
"I thought I was gonna die," Penguin groaned.
"We're alive!" Bepo cried.
Thankfully, unlike the Straw Hats, they had been inside the train, not on top of it, when they all crashed through the wall, but still, that was terrifying and Penguin never wanted to do it again.
It got worse when they found out there was five CP9 members with different keys for Robin's and Law's handcuffs. THEY WERE JUST WASTING TIME!
The weirdo was still talking, stalling them, so Penguin grabbed Bepo.
"Let's go!" he ordered.
"Right!" Bepo nodded.
They needed to catch up to Law and fast. If he got taken through that gate, their journey as pirates together would be over. They might never see Law again, and Penguin refused to let that happen!
.::.
Bondage-ya was evil laughing and villain monologuing again. He was literally just unlocking a big giant metallic door. This was ridiculous. Rosinante looked pained by it too. Jeez, this guy was such a pain in the ass.
They went down the dark passageway, but Law blanked out half the things Bondage-ya was ranting on about. The piece of shit wasn't worth Law's ears. A loud bang reached their ears about ten minutes later, making Bondage-ya jump a mile. That was amusing at the very least, and watching him rant at Lucci. Now if only the kitty cat would just eat Bondage-ya, that would be perfect.
"Eh? What is that look, Nico Robin-" Spandam marched over and raised his hand to slap her, but Law grabbed his wrist and snapped it in a second. "AHHHHH! TRAFALGAR! LUCCI, KILL HIM-"
Rosinante tore him from Law's grasp and slammed him face first into a wall, his face growing murderous. "What did you just say?" he asked coldly.
"I can't kill head witches," Lucci said. "It's against the World Government's orders."
"R-ROSINANTE-" Spandam began to wail, but Rosinante grabbed his neck and squeezed hard, choking him.
"You ever try to threaten my son again and I'll feed you to a Sea King," Rosinante growled. "You hear me? And that is Vice Admiral Rosinante to you, Spandam. Know your place. You are nothing. I can crush you like a bug this instant, and not bat an eye. Do you hear me?"
Law hadn't seen Rosinante this angry since their visits to the hospitals together back when Law was a kid. Robin was eyeing Rosinante warily, then glancing at him curiously. She was probably trying to figure out the relationship there, or at least how it worked. She had probably caught on to their father son relationship by now though, especially with that 'my son' comment Rosinante made. Robin was a smart woman.
A den den mushi rang, and with a heavy sigh Rosinante answered it as he released Spandam.
"Vice Admiral Rosinante. We've captured the head witch from the CP9 reports, Paulie."
Law frowned. "Dammit. That idiot came here?"
Lucci smirked. "That certainly makes things easier for us."
"Good, separate him from the other criminals and secure him in private cell," Rosinante ordered. "Once the business with the Straw Hats are sorted out, then we can bring him over here and to Marineford."
"Why aren't they reporting to me about this situation?" Spandam huffed.
"Because you aren't important enough," Law mocked.
"Shut up, Trafalgar! Oi, you heard the Vice Admiral, secure the head witch-"
"Y-You-" Robin suddenly squeaked, horrified.
Both Law and Lucci paused, startled, but then all their heads followed Robin's gaze, and much to their horror, Spandam had pressed the golden den den mushi snail.
"What are you squawking about, Nico Robin?" Spandam hissed, rubbing his throat. "I'm checking on the situation outside-"
"THAT WAS THE GOLDEN SNAIL, YOU MORON!" Rosinante yelled.
"You unleashed a Buster Call?" Law snarled. "FUCKING MORON! WHAT IS THIS BULLSHIT?!"
.::.
"Oi, is the ship ready?" Spandam yelled into the den den mushi.
He was black and blue, his face swollen all over. Rosinante had beaten the shit out of him then grabbed both Law and Nico Robin and hurried them along the corridors. He only handed Spandam Robin back when she started struggling along the way up to the bridge. Rosinante didn't have time to handle her. He had to get Law onboard the ship then go back for the Creation witch heir. Rosinante hadn't heard from the men who had captured the witch heir, but they had better have taken the witch with them if they had evacuated. If Rosinante went back to find that the witch was still there, he'd be furious.
"No, Sir, we're under attack!"
Rosinante flinched.
"WHAT?!" Spandam screeched. "By who?!"
"THE HEART PIRATES!"
Law cursed. "Those idiots followed the Straw Hats here?!"
"Dammit!" Rosinante cursed, and tugged Law along.
Law squirmed against the cuffs. He needed to get the damn things off and help his crew. Law had been content on just waiting for Luffy before, but now his own crew was stuck in this mess with a Buster Call along the way.
Spandam was beating up Robin too. Law wanted to gut him for that, the piece of shit.
"Cora-san, wait-" Law began to plead.
"I'm taking you to your crew and you can order them to leave before the Buster Call arrives," Rosinante said firmly.
Spandam kept stopping every five seconds to mock Robin. Shit, but hopefully that bought her some time. Rosinante certainly was locked on to getting Law away at the moment. Law tried to slow them down, but Rosinante was a hell of a lot taller than him and ignored his protests. They reached the top of the stairs long before Spandam, and Law could see the fighting from here.
He could also see the Polar Tang sailing in the sea.
"Captain!" Ikkaku yelled. "We're here!"
"Captain, we'll get you out of this!" Uni bellowed.
"You idiots!" Law snapped. "You shouldn't have came here!"
"We had been hoping to plan an ambush, but this lot ignored my orders!" Penguin admitted, booting back a marine.
"You put me in charge remember?" Ikkaku smirked.
"Enough!" Rosinante ordered. "Heart Pirates, there's a Buster Call coming, so get back on your ship and clear out. Your Captain is coming with me and he's going to accept a Warlord position."
"No thanks," Law grumbled.
"Like hell!" Ikkaku protested.
"Cora-san, please let Law go!" Bepo pleaded.
An explosion went off somewhere behind them. Rosinante was quick to drag Law in front of him, arms around him protectively, as Spandam went flying by. He crashed into the ground, between the Heart Pirates and marines, much to Law's amusement. Robin sat on the ground, staring wide eyed up into the distance.
"Nico-ya, don't just sit there!" Law yelled, trying to peer around Rosinante. "Run before the marines come up here!"
"Capture her," Rosinante ordered.
A group of marines split off from fighting the Hearts, but Law managed to trip some of them up as they tried to run past. Robin was sprinting, but stumbling, exhausted and injured, and sadly Law couldn't do anything as the other marines lined up their guns towards her legs.
"Nico-ya, they're about to shoot!" Law yelled, struggling as Rosinante began to drag him down the stairs.
Law didn't get to see what happened next, but he did hear a lot of gasps. Hopefully that meant she was safe.
"Clear a way!" Rosinante ordered.
"Dammit, Cora-san, just stop this. Let me go!" Law hissed.
"Enough, Law. I'm doing this for you own good. If you stay out here like this, someone like Doflamingo is going to kidnap you. He's already tried several times with his goons! We both know once he's bored of that he's going to come find you himself!" Rosinante yelled.
"That doesn't matter right now. I've got a lot of things to do without you dragging me off in some insane rescue mission that I don't need," Law argued. "You're just making things more complicated than they need to be!"
"I'm making thing more complicated? You can do those things as a Warlord for all I care!"
"No, because then I'll probably be trapped in Marineford for years!"
"It doesn't matter right now. I'm- GAH!" Rosinante tripped over his own feet, wait, no, not his own feet. Nico-ya's hand. Rosinante went crashing down the last few steps and into a pile of marines. Law just managed to keep his own footing, and breathed out a sigh of relief when Bepo and Penguin fought their way up to his side.
"Captain!" Bepo beamed.
"I've got his sword!" Ikkaku yelled.
Kikoku must have fallen from Rosinante's back, or she stole it. Sometimes hard to tell with that woman.
More hands bloomed before them, revealing several keys in their palms.
"Hopefully these work," Penguin said.
Penguin tried them all, and thankfully the very last one worked. Law breathed a sigh of relief when he felt his exhaustion ebb away, and caught Kikoku when Ikkaku threw it his way.
"We have to hurry! The battleships are coming-" Law began.
"Captain! They're already here!" Uni yelled.
"I hate this," Law groaned. "I hate this so much!"
