Back inside the compound, the Salacians gathered at Wagan's quarters to inspect the damage. Nico saw all the bodies lying outside the front door. "Clean it up," he ordered some soldiers standing behind him.
Wagan and Isa went into the quarters and saw the mess Fox and Tati had made. Isa picked up one of the animatronic masks that Tati left behind and threw it aside after looking at it.
Isa said, "Their intentions are very clear, Uncle Wagan. They mean to assassinate you, which is why we need to move you to a secure location."
Wagan was indignant. "Where else could be more secure? You had all those ninjas and you couldn't even stop them. Changing my hiding place won't make a difference."
"It would, Uncle Wagan. If the Combo Rangers can't find you, then we'll have enough people to deal with them."
"I cannot leave my base. This is my position. No matter what happens, I will defend it."
"But Your Highness, Isa is doing this out of consideration for your safety," said Nico. "Your quarters aren't safe anymore."
"Then I'll stay in the command room."
Wagan walked off but Nico stopped him. "I cannot let you do that, Your Highness."
Wagan pushed Nico's arm down. "I've made it very clear. I will not leave this base."
"Uncle Wagan," said Isa. "I can understand how you feel right now, but King Shark has entrusted the safety of you and your base to myself. This is a responsibility I will uphold."
"Then where do you suppose I sleep, Isa?"
"I'd like you to change into a soldier's uniform and stay with them."
Wagan turned around in anger. "Are you mad? You would make a mockery out of your uncle?"
Isa remained unmoved by her uncle's offense. "No matter what you wear or where you sleep, you will still be a general, my uncle. It will only be for two days. Once Prince Jake and Princess Queen arrive at their positions, you can change back into your own uniform. This is for the success of the Shark King's stratagem."
"This is asinine. Just asinine." Wagan walked out of his quarters. Unbeknownst to anyone, Lisa had scaled the walls to listen in on their conversation, managing to evade their sight just as Wagan walked outside.
Nico went outside to stop Wagan from walking any further. "Isa has a point, Your Highness. If something were to happen to you, our forces would be in disarray."
Isa came outside as well. "Your life is the key to our success, Uncle Wagan. Please reconsider."
Hiding atop the roof of Wagan's quarters, Lisa was about to kill him from above when a soldier came with a report. "Your Highness, the Drylanders are fleeing out of the forest. I've sent some men out to search for them. No other Drylanders have been found."
Wagan responded, "Order our units to remain on high alert and impose a two-day curfew on the district. Any unauthorised movement will be terminated with extreme prejudice!"
"Wait!" Isa stopped. "Let's hold off on the curfew for now. I want to create an opportunity for them to come back."
Lisa tried to assassinate Wagan again, but she remembered the Mighty Combo's words about sticking to the plan; their mission was to capture Wagan alive so they could send the Salacians into disarray while obtaining information from him. As Wagan and the others headed to the command room, Lisa continued to stalk them from above.
Wagan was still angry at Isa's proposal as he went into the command room. "This is asinine. A general like me disguising myself as a soldier because I'm afraid to die? How could I hope to lead an army after that? I'll sleep in here for the next two days. The rest of you can leave." The other soldiers began to leave but Isa told them to wait. Wagan continued, "I helped look after you since you were a baby, Isa. I should be the one looking after you and giving orders."
Isa replied, "That may be true, Uncle Wagan, but right now, I am responsible for your safety."
"My safety won't come at the expense of my pride, Isa. I would rather die than hide among the soldiers like a coward."
"Tell me, Uncle, what is more important, your pride or the benefit of the World of Salacia?"
"Without my warrior's pride, what benefit would there be for Salacia?"
"You can't trade pride for victory. If you were unable to lead a battle before it started, what use would your pride have then?"
Wagan was incensed. "You…!"
"I'll say it again. Please consider the bigger picture, Uncle Wagan." Isa then approached one of Wagan's officers. "You there, what's your name?"
The officer responded, "I am Fernando Welloway from the Lionfish Kingdom, Chief of Staff for Prince Wagan, Your Highness."
"How would you like to be a substitute for your commanding officer?"
"Much obliged, Your Highness."
"Very well. You can stay in the command room, Uncle Wagan."
The soldier went back up to Wagan with Isa. "I'm still opposed to your plan, Isa."
"Please bear with it for a little while."
Wagan put down his sword and gun and swapped uniforms with Fernando as Lisa watched them through the window. She then followed along the roofs as the person who she thought was Wagan, but was actually Fernando, as he left the command room and went to his quarters. Following this, Lisa finally decided to leave.
Isa, Nico and the real Wagan came out of the command room. "She's gone now," Isa commented.
"You sure someone was snooping on us?" asked Wagan.
"Without a doubt, and I know it was Lisa Lima. She never even left the base. When we were arguing earlier, I could sense her aiming for your head, Uncle."
"How do you know?"
"Call it a woman's intuition," confidently answered Isa. "I could sense her aura from a few hundred metres away."
"So, all this was just an act for her?"
"Not at first. I meant everything I said about having you blend in with the soldiers. Then I realised Lisa was snooping in on us, so I decided to play it up for her."
"So what should we do now?"
"Our turn on the stage is over. Their turn is next."
