If anyone ever told Toko that she'd be one day be married and have several kids running around a couple of years ago, she'd think that whoever's telling her that is just making fun of her, and rightfully so! Because what kind of person would ever want to have that with someone like her?
No sane person would look at a disgusting, smelly person like her and think to themselves, "Yep, that's the person I want to spend the rest of my life with and then have my spawn with!"
Though, Toko will admit this to herself.
There was a time she wanted to have that kind of life with someone, but in the end, she never did. And honestly, she's actually kinda glad she missed out on having that chance with that person. She wouldn't ever want to trade what she has now for that.
Even if that means having to deal with so much hectic chaos now and then every single day, just like this.
Speaking of that hectic chaos…
"Wait, wait, wait! Masaru, not so hard or you'll—"
That really frantic voice just now sounds like Nagisa.
POOF!
"AAAAAHHH MY EYES! I CAN'T SEE, I CAN'T SEE!"
"Jataro, wait! You're gonna run into a wall!"
Toko recognizes that one as Komaru trying to warn one of their kids.
CRASH
...Looks like that warning didn't pan well.
Well then, that is one thing she can never ignore.
And so, Toko gets up from the couch and heads to investigate what happened with her wife and their kids now. She's hoping that it probably won't be like what happened with that time with the Jenga Tower, but she won't be surprised if it's something close to that.
It's kinda inevitable when someone tries to raise at least four kids at once. And those kids are also old enough to walk and talk on their own too, and neither her nor her wife had any sort of experience with that before having all four of them suddenly bump into their shared lives.
As soon as Toko gets there, well, she won't say she's surprised at what she sees. It's actually very expected based on the bits of commotion she heard before this.
There's so much flour all over the kitchen. The walls, the floor, the stove, even the damned fridge. It's all everywhere.
There's also a lot of it over Jataro, the poor boy's coated from head-to-toe in that thing. And he's also coughing and sneezing a lot from it.
There's also some bits of flour on Komaru too, mostly on her face and clothes. But, it looks like most of them are from her trying to get them off Jataro. That boy is also a bit wobbly right now, most likely because he either bumped into something or crashed while running while covered in flour.
Toko realizes what this means, and immediately puts a hand over her nose. She may have made peace with that part of herself now, but suddenly throwing her other self into this responsibility with no warnings whatsoever will be a huge headache for both of them.
At least this doesn't reach the top ten of their most hectic and chaotic days. Not any time soon, at least.
And everyone in there takes notice of her arrival too.
Kotoko then suddenly points a finger into Masaru's direction. "He started it!"
"She was taking forever to mix everything in!" Masaru points back at Kotoko, trying to shift it back at her.
Both of those kids got some flour on them too, but not as much as Jataro did.
Nagisa sighs, palming over his face with both hands. "It doesn't matter who started it, there's still a lot of mess in this kitchen." He then takes a deep breath, and then calmly faces Toko. "My apologies for this, I should've kept a closer eye on them. We'll all take responsibility and clean this mess up as best as we can."
Toko doesn't even get the chance to say anything about that as Nagisa proceeds to go to both Masaru and Kotoko, and then grabs them both by the back of their shirts.
"Oh come on, I didn't mean it!" Masaru tries to get himself out of there, but Nagisa's tight grip on his shirt keeps him from doing it.
"But I didn't do anything!" Kotoko whines as Nagisa drags her along too, to get both her and Masaru started in cleaning up the mess that happened here.
Toko is both impressed and relieved that Nagisa has this under control, at least.
And now, with that whole thing being handled by Nagisa, that leaves one last matter to deal with.
She approaches Komaru and Jataro, frowning as she sees the boy now sniffling. She then asks, "Is he okay?" Though with her hand cover her mouth and nose, she did sound a bit muffled just now.
Though thankfully, Komaru did hear her clearly. "I think he'll just need a bath after this. Poor guy just has flour everywhere on him." She then puts a hand over his head, and frowns. Toko, can you get me some ice pack too?"
Immediately understanding what that means, Toko nods and heads off to the fridge.
Toko bites back a wince as she tries to open the fridge; even the flour has gotten all over the fridge's handle. She's quickly able to grab an ice pack from there, though.
As soon as she gets ahold of that ice pack, she wastes no time putting it over the concerningly large bump on Jataro's head. Something that both Komaru and Jataro appreciates a lot.
Then, once they're sure that Jataro has recovered a bit from that, they then help him prepare the bath he needs to get any remaining flour off of him. After that, there's no more trouble with that, since Jataro can do it himself now.
It took Toko having to drag Komaru away for a bit to convince her that Jataro won't keel over them anytime soon if she were to take her eyes off him for a moment.
And now, after all of that chaos out of the way, Komaru has collapsed on Toko's lap, with both of them lying back on the couch now. It's taken a lot of them, and Toko knows there will be more days just like this one. But with one look at her wife's tired but peaceful face on her lap, one thing is certain.
Yeah, there is no way Toko is trading this chaotic and hella hectic, but ultimately fulfilling domestic life for anything else. Not even for the ideal domestic life she would've wanted so long ago with that person.
Besides, Toko knows now that Komaru has and will continue to make her happier than that person ever will in this or any other lifetime.
