Klaus POV:
Once I'm back at the apartment, I headed to the kitchen cabinet to get bourbon for myself. Only good thing about this history teacher/vampire hunter Alaric. I took a sip directly from the bottle and settled in the high-rise breakfast chair and thought of all the things I have to do right this time around. Having the talk with Elijah and released Katerina of her exile, moments with Caroline, playing along with the Bennet witch, today was eventful.
And tomorrow should also be perfect, already Lockwood is secured as a decoy and placed Maddox there for the update on wolf bite to the Elder Salvatore. Greta is guarding the actual sacrifice in hotel room. In this moment of solicit, it's truly freeing to have all those conversations and trying to amend my relationship with all my siblings. But I'm still wary of Katerina and her motives towards Elijah, I will have to keep an eye on that one.
My mind started to wander to the time I was in New Orleans. Marcellus is not the same boy I raised, to me family is everything and family above all. Yes, I do dagger my siblings. Those are not permanent deaths and most of it for their own protection. And that's how I know to do it back then. But Marcellus changed himself to a super vampire and bit my brothers wishing to be dead, with the help of strix witches he was the one who have unsired my bloodline. I should definitely handle Marcellus differently and should have him under control. Also having the harvest witch on our side definitely a plus in any future situations.
Once the curse is broken, Mikael is handled appropriately I should visit New Orleans and show them who is the real king. Should release Freya myself and show it as a surprise to Finn on the ball I'm going to host. New additions to the Mikaelson family introducing to the world through a ball will definitely be spectacular.
Tomorrow these Salvatore's will try something, it's good that I know which brother is stupid enough to mess with me now. Since I could not torcher him immediately for something he did to my Caroline, wolf bite will be like a teaser for him to have. Once I get to know whatever happened to her in the hands of elder Salvatore, I'll have a bonding session with my siblings and their paramours. What is as effective as torturing someone to bond with the family of Vampires. I pulled myself out of my thoughts and looked into the time to see that it is the day of Ritual.
Bottle in my hand was empty not sure when I finished it. Last time, this was the day my witches abducted Caroline and Tyler. Since I got that covered already, I texted Caroline 'Good Morning Sweetheart. Have a great day' I know she would still be sleeping since it is still early morning, and the sun is yet to raise. After that I called Elijah and he answered, "Good morning, Niklaus" and I responded "Hello brother, I hope you are still alive and well after yesterday. Could you come to this History teacher's apartment now". He said "I'm very much well and happy Niklaus, especially after yesterday. Will meet you in 10 minutes there" and hung up. Well, if he is happy and fine whom am I to question.
I started to get ready for the day, my special day. My phone started to ring from the table I left to charge, I was not sure who will be calling me this early. When I reached for the phone and looked into it, my face automatically lights up with the smile on seeing my love's name on it. Smiling I attended the call "Hello love, I didn't know you were early bird sweetheart. That's why l left you message instead of calling" I could hear shuffling of sheets from the other end, Caroline says sleepily "No, I'm not an early bird. I was up from my sleep when you texted me. Since you are going to be busy and I could not be able to speak to you at least for two days, I thought of hearing your voice before you run off for your adventure." I could not believe myself that I am hearing this from Caroline Forbes. I truly missed her last time due to my silly mistake and impulsive acts. She even came looking for me when her kids were in danger. That is how much she trusted me, but I let her down by not being there for her. I had betrayed her by sleeping with Hayley out my anger and agony. But even after all these, she helped me along with her daughters in my favour.
I was overwhelmed with her causal confession and the thoughts swirling around my mind about her. My eyes were filled with tears which I do not know how and why it came to, it seems I haven't responded anything for a long time because Caroline asked in a worried tone, "Are you there Nik?" I immediately responded "Yes, sweetheart. I'm here. Sorry…... I was just thinking."
She responded to me like she knows what I'm thinking, "I know, Nik. I'm maybe overreacting to this ritual and you breaking your curse. But I'm not going to hold back anything I feel this time. Because it costs me more than I could take the last time I was holding myself back."
"No… no sweetheart, you are not overreacting and I'm not thinking like that. I was just wondering how lucky I am to have you by my side even after I caused you pain lots of time" I said to convey my thoughts to her.
"No Nik, the only hurt I got from you is you sleeping with that wereslut. But even for that I'm not in a position to get angry at you or hurt over, since I was hurting you way long time, me being with Tyler" she said at low tone on thinking about past "Here, no talks about the past, which is no more, we both had given the second chance and we will make the most of it."
My sunshine is back, smiling I responded "Yes, sweetheart. You're right, we will make the most of it. I have called Elijah discuss on today's matter and he is on the way to here. I'll call you once everything is over and fine sweetheart. You have a great day decorating the mansion for us to live"
"Bye, Nik. Take care. Everything will be fine at the end of the day. Do not worry yourselves more."
I hung up the call and after few seconds the door was opened revealing Elijah in his perfect suit. I was shirtless since Caroline called when I tried to get into fresh t-shirt. "Come on in Brother" I called him in and went for my maroon Henley and a black leather jacket in the hanger. Elijah strolled into the living room and seated himself in the couch, I joined him once I got dressed.
"Good Morning, Lijah" I said greeting him. He looked at me smiling "Good Morning, Niklaus."
"Why are you smiling at me?" I asked seeing his unusual smiling face fixed on me. "I am just wondering Niklaus, about when was the last time you have called me Lijah. It was during our human days. I could see the same younger brother from yesterday, calling me Lijah" he responded. Then only I noticed myself that I'm calling him Lijah from yesterday. Since I could not offer him anything on that, I tried diverting the topic.
"Lets talk about the today's ritual Elijah" I corrected myself to Elijah and continued "How the doppleganger and Salvatores took it about the elixir to bring back her as human?" I asked him. He sighed noticing my change of topic and went with it "They do not believe that elixir will work Damon feed Elena her blood as a failsafe"
I got shocked and slammed the table at hearing this, "What?" but Elijah continued, "Calm down Niklaus,I have given Bennet witch a spell from Martin's grimoire to keep her alive and human through". I sat down and took a sip of my bourbon "So doppelganger will be human even after this ritual" he finished "Then Bennet witch is alive and well I take it" I said in response to play along. "Yes, brother. Her dying is their sort of plan to catch you off guard after the ritual. Since I told them after the ritual at the time of you transitioning into a werewolf, you'll be most vulnerable for attack and can be easily killed using more magic" he said while sipping his drink.
"If I haven't reached you with the news of waking up our sibling, you would have killed me. Right brother?" I asked knowing that is not true. I still wanted to know what Elijah thought.
"No, Niklaus. As you know, other than white oak stake there is no way of killing us. I was just planning on desiccating you through the ritual magic for time being. Without you changing their places constantly and cloaking them, I thought I could be able to locate our siblings sooner" he answered sincerely.
"Hmm, well brother now there is no requirement for what ifs. And I'm planning on collecting my doppelganger myself by evening. I want you to be with Stefan till the ritual and let Damon do what he does. I have a plan for him" I say smirking. On my reaction, Elijah asked "Why the elder Salvatore? brother, what did he do?"
Since I myself does not know, I said him the same response I got "That's a story for another time brother. And Lijah, I want Katrina to be here till end of tonight…" even before I finish the sentence my brother got defensive, "you said you freed her from your vengeance, Niklaus. Why does she have to be here now?" he asked.
"Calm down, brother and let me finish. I just want her to act as a prisoner, I expect the elder Salvatore to do something stupid and end here. He already saw that Katrina is held captive here and given her vervain to escape my compulsion. Thus, I want her to inform him that doppelganger's aunt Jenna is held captive with vampire blood fed" I said calmly.
"Why brother, what good that will do? And Jenna is already in Salvatore's boarding house. How will you lure her to feed her vampire blood?" Elijah asked more confused. I answered "That is where you come in brother, I just want to compel Jenna to stay in her home without contacting anyone till tomorrow morning. You can get her out of the boarding house and I myself will compel her to stay in her house. I also want to get invitation to Elena's house without anyone knowing. Even you should not share this information of me having an invitation to doppleganger's home with anyone Lijah, not even to your Katerina." I said seriously thinking about the time I stood outside unable to do anything but look at my brother burning. I was not aware of the tears swelled up in my eyes and I shut my eyes to push it back.
"What happened brother?" he asked concerned, I shook my head indicating now is not the time and luckily, he understood and responded, "I promise you, I will not tell anyone, I'll call you once I lure her out of the boarding house Niklaus". I looked at him and nodded my head. After a pause I composed myself from my emotions and said "Okay, Lijah, see you then". My brother left and sat down waiting for the news from Maddox.
My phone notified me of a message from Caroline, I took the phone to see her text that she had started the work in Mansion. I didn't respond to her, just sat there imaging the way my queen ordered around her disciples for their incompetence in doing the work she asked for. I could easily see my Caroline at helm of the ship as I saw her in the Miss Mystic pageant and how we both had a genuine time on that date of ours.
Again, my phone notification pulling me out of my reverie, a message from Elijah stating that, he lured Jenna out of boarding house. I immediately vamped out and met him and Jenna. I took her from my brother and vamped to Elena's house, once I placed her down to stand, I compelled her to invite me in. She did, once I was into the house, I compelled her to forget inviting me in, to stay at this house till tomorrow morning and not to contact anyone.
Once I left the doppelganger's house, my phone again went off with the message notification from Maddox. He said that Damon got bit by Tyler. I was smiling and immediately texted Caroline that information for her to be happy. And she responded immediately, Good 😉. My mind went to the last time when Caroline said good, no I can't go there now. I have a ritual to finish. I texted back, I'm going to switch off my mobile, sweetheart. Bye, take care. And call Elijah in case of emergencies. She responded without missing a beat, Take care, Nik. Come back to me. I smile at her text, Always, sweetheart. Then I switched it off and placed it in the drawer of this study table in Alaric's apartment.
Then I went to Salvatore's boarding house to collect my doppelganger. As expected, Stefan and her were just now reached the boarding house after their little trip it seems. When Stefan didn't let go of Elena's hand, I stated "There is no reason for you to die today mate", even though I know I won't kill the ripper, my old friend. I have to warn him of the consequences. The doppelganger repeated my words to him and came to me. I flashed her to Greta and told her to get to the ritual ground. Already Maddox brought the werewolf Brady and the vampire for sacrifice to the ritual ground and secured them in a magical circle.
