A/N: I'm not quite sure how to fit this in at all as I'm writing this so we'll see how this goes. All I know is that I'm in the process of moving and have only found one box of books which does not contain daughter of the deep and I want to re-read it and can't. I also know that very little fanfic exists which means I need to write some. I will also write some Gem x Ana at some point cause they are cute but to start off with I'm just going to do the reader.

Summary: Reader is in house shark (Also studying house dolphin subjects) and training with Gem but had gotten hurt the day before in another training exercise and didn't tell him so when reader falls from a light hit he gets worried. I'm realising that most of my summaries sound like a request which is kinda fitting cause I am requesting them from myself, lol. I also know what I'm doing now. I spent home economics trying to figure it out.

Pairing: Gemini Twain x reader (Platonic) Edit: This went from romantic to platonic real quick cause I couldn't help but mention Ana x Gem

Spoilers: None unless you count characters and the workings of the school. Set before the events of the book Another Edit: This was supposed to be before the book but Ana x Gem is kinda a thing yet the school is re-built or something, I don't know but, just go with it.

Warnings: Fighting, no blood, Training, Comfort, Injury (I may do another version with Ana x Gem and a different injury)

Third Person P.O.V.

Gem was walking down to the training arena for hand-to-hand combat practice with y/n. The Sharks prefect was actually excited for this sparring session because y/n was one of the few in his year level that could match his ability and keep up with him in training. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise him if they became the head of house shark one day or if they picked up house cephalopod subjects as well. Considering the way, they understood how weapons worked and the technology used in the dolphin's communications lesson. They were a rarity, that was for sure. To excel in their own house topics and be able to keep up with the workload of another lot of subjects.

The metal doors to the training stadium opened to reveal y/n already standing on the training mat in their crop top and running shorts. Gem stepped up onto the mat and threw a punch at the side of their head before he was fully on the mat, causing them to slip to the side and twist his arm around. They kept going back and forth, trading hits and dodging for about five minutes before either of them landed a hit. Y/n should have been able to jump over the low kick to their ankle or at least step back. Gem's foot connecting with the side of their foot and sent them tumbling to the ground. Strange, they would normally have dodged that kind of kick. I guess they did come back to dorms kinda late from training yesterday but it wasn't too unusual for one of his house members to be back after dark, Gem thought to himself, offering a hand down to help them up.

"You good, that looked like it hurt." Gem stated as he pulled y/n up.

"Nah, I'm good, just wasn't quick enough," they responded lightly. Gem wasn't buying it. The way they winced slightly standing and how they were guarding their right side more than normal. He stepped back and went to hit their side just to test his theory. They dodged easily enough but there was an extra strain there that wasn't normal for them.

He kept trying to get a hit on their side and after one foolish move they had been left exposed. Gem took his chance and went for it. He only hit them lightly, already guess the injury they were hiding. They collapsed towards the ground with a small noise of pain. Gem caught them before they were able to hit the mat and gently lowered them to the ground.

"Shh, Shh, you're gonna be okay," Gem soothed getting up and running over to the intercom next to the door. (I kinda see this as similar to the intercom style tv things that they have in the Octonauts) "Hey, Franklin, you there?" Gem asked into the microphone after dialling in the infirmary.

"Yeah, I'm here Gem, what's up?" Franklin's voice echoed through the speaker.

"Could you and one of your house mates maybe come down to the Shark's training room, y/n got hurt." Gem asked, worried about his classmate.

"Yeah, I'm on my way, I'll bring Esther with me."

"Thanks." Gem ran back to where y/n was laying on the mat as soon as he ended the conversation with Franklin. Y/n was still lying on the ground with a hand braced against their side. They were struggling, trying to get back up. "Stop struggling, you'll make it worse." Gem ordered placing a gentle hand on their shoulder to make them lean back. "Why didn't you tell me you were injured."

"I'm fine, it wasn't that bad a hit." Y/n responded stubbornly. Why did the Sharks kids all have to be so stubborn. Or maybe it was the house dolphin cause he thinks Ana Dakkar might be even worse than his own house sometimes.

"Maybe so, but against an old injury means it was a lot worse than it should have been." Gem was scowling at them, not very happy with his fellow Shark.

"It was fine, and it wasn't that bad an injury. It was only yesterday anyway."

"You didn't have training yesterday," Gem stated eyeing them, suspiciously. "What happened?" Gem question gently, trying to find out why his Shark was hiding something from him. Despite liking Ana, Gem still loved y/n, he viewed them as a younger sibling and would protect them with his life if it came down to it.

"On days I don't have training I usually go swimming in the reef at the base if the cliff and I may have gotten thrown into a rock spire." y/n answered, looking away from the Shark's prefect.

"How?" Gem asked, eyeing them suspiciously.

"I didn't get out of the way of a whale shark. I didn't mean to. It's just that it was swimming around and I was trying to get close enough to pet it like I normally would but of course I didn't move when I should have and then the force of the water was enough to send me into one of the rock spires begin me." Y/n glanced back up at Gem hoping he wouldn't be too mad.

"Isn't this the third time that's happened since our chum year?" Gem inquired, trying not to laugh at his house mate. Just as Gem was about to lose it the doors to the training room opened revealing two worried orcas.

"Y/n! Gem said you got hurt" Ester called as she waddled over.

"Yeah, I met a whale shark though"

"Did you move this time or is that why I got a call from a worried Gem about you?" Franklin spoke up from behind Ester.

"I may not have moved." Franklin kneels down beside y/n placing a hand on their side. He checks how badly y/n ribs are broken and how safe it is to move them.

"Ok, it seems like you only broke 2 ribs this time but I still want you to come back to the infirmary with me, at least to wrap them so you don't get more hurt. Also no physical training for 3 days." Franklin orders as he stands up. Gem helps y/n up and supports them down to the infirmary where Franklin can actually treat the injury. You'd think that after three times of this happening y/n would know to get out of the way of whale sharks but it wasn't the last time she had to explain to Franklin why she had broken ribs after a swim.

A/N: Done! Wow, this fanfic seemed like it went really quick. I never finish these quickly, no matter how much of a plan I have. Maybe I should just start writing without a plan more often. Oh well, hope you enjoyed. Have a great day/night warriors .
