A/N: If you see "text underlined but within speech marks" it means characters are speaking telepathically.

Also, in actually posting this story I've noticed a few formatting errors that got generated for whatever reason, mostly speech marks and other punctuation marks spaced out more than they should be, stuff not in italics when it should be, etc. I will try to catch these where I can, but this fic is very big and my time is limited, so apologies for that. Feel free to point the errors out to me though.

Beyond that you can dive into the story because the rest of this author note is just a few personal words from me.

There are far too many people to thank for helping me with this fic. So many people across multiple discords aided me with research and descriptions of characters I have honestly lost count. To that end I will extend my eternal gratitude to the various members of the Moonlight Legends, Art, Culture, & Anime and Sailor Moon Universe discord servers.

Amidst the dark void, two figures stood upon the Moon.

"There is no one left to fight me. Just you. Only you. It is over. Everything is over. You have lost!"

Despite her exhaustion, the truth of her adversary's words cut deep.

Accentuating the point, large white cracks began to appear around them. She felt the Universe's anguish as its very fabric continued to unravel. At full strength, she could have fixed things. But now, all that was left was doomed. But first she would die. Die all… alone…?

… The cracks...?

Could it be done?

Perhaps so. Despite her weakened state, she had just enough power to make contact. It was a long shot, and she would be asking much of them, but this was her very last gambit. She had to play it.

She closed her eyes, summoned up a portion of her once immense power, and projected eight streams of light into the cracks. Eight was all she could muster, and each one of them carried a copy of her consciousness. They would last just long enough to seek out her kin, speak to them, and deliver her message:

"Please, will you help me!?"

"I can't believe we still gotta go to school," moaned Minako.

Usagi nodded emphatically. "You'd think after we stopped Nehelenia, Luna would let me rest up for a while."

"Nehelenia?" Minako scoffed. "We've been owed major R&R ever since you stuck Beryl with that sword."

"No doubt. A cute guy and a sunny beach, that'd suit me," Usagi said dreamily.

"At least you've got the cute guy part sewn up." Minako tittered. "And I saw some great places in America he could take you."

"… Right…" Usagi pursed her lips. Something seemed to have caught in her chest.

"Hey, look!" Usagi's gaze followed Minako's finger towards the sky. "It's a shooting star! Make a wish!"

Before Usagi could muster a thought, strange images and words intruded upon her mind. The somehow familiar voice behind the words delivered what almost seemed like a pre-recorded message before addressing her more directly.

"Tsukino Usagi of Universe C-05-Rys-06-Tal-2014. CrystalUsagi. Your universe is very new. Nevertheless, your power is great. Indeed, merely having you by my side would give me the strength to keep fighting. That is... if you will help me?"

Without speaking aloud, Usagi gave her answer.

"Yes. I will help you."

The entire experience had taken less than a second. It took even less time for Usagi to simply vanish from Minako's side.

"Oh no! I overslept again!" Usagi's stomach twinged as she re-read the message left on the pillow.

Sorry, I couldn't wake you in time for breakfast. Gone ahead before the buffet closes.

-Love, M

"For goodness sake, Usagi, it's your honeymoon!"

Even over the cell phone that had awoken Usagi, Makoto's accusation came loud and clear. "Look, things have been... 'complicated'. Let's just say this honeymoon has been 'less than ideal'."

Makoto laughed. "Try planning a wedding with Motoki. Sometimes I think he loves those turtles more than–"

Suddenly, Usagi's mind flared with an onslaught of horrific information! Mild relief only came when the speaker addressed her personally.

"Tsukino Usagi of Universe L-04-Iv-10-E-2003. LiveUsagi. Through you I have touched the hearts of your loved ones and can thus restore your powers. Nevertheless, I would understand, given your 'situation', if you choose not to use them."

A necklace and sword materialised in her hands.

"Yes, I will use them!"

"Usagi? Are you still there?"

Makoto's question went unanswered. The hotel room was completely empty.

"Kousagi is a Senshi! "

"Calm down," Luna cautioned. "Artemis already told me everything that happened."

"And just how did he find out?"

"From Minako. All of Kousagi's friends are Senshi too."

Usagi groaned. "Luna, why did you have to recruit our children? "

"I didn't do anything. From what I hear, it was some other Mautian."

Usagi narrowed her eyes. "How convenient. So, it was another talking space cat!"

"Best I can figure," Luna pressed on, "The kids draw upon a fragment of a guardian planet's power. Usually that wouldn't work, but then I've never known Senshi to have children."

Automatically, Usagi fished out her own transformation brooch. The star pattern was sharp against the dull pink and gold. She had barely survived being a Senshi. The thought of a child dealing with such danger… of her child…

No.

She would not allo-

A voice hijacked her thoughts. It sounded like a woman. And yet… there was something of a lost little girl in the tone…

"Tsukino Usagi of Universe P-01-Aara-10-Llel-1999. ParallelUsagi. You retired long ago after ending the Dark Kingdom. Now your first priorities are to your family. I loathe asking you to choose between them and taking up your mantle once more. Nevertheless, in my darkest hour, I must beg for your aid."

She barely hesitated.

"You have it! For the sake of all the children lost to you…"

Luna blinked once and, within that time, Usagi had completely disappeared.

"Chibi-Usa I'm serious! You are not tagging along today!"

The pink-haired child stuck her tongue out. "Nuh-uh, you're the one who's always tagging along on my dates!"

Usagi ground her teeth and tried focusing on the sweet and loving moments she'd shared with her future-daughter-come-little-sister.

"He's going shopping with me ," she hissed.

Chibi-Usa turned her head to the side pompously. "He's taking me to the movies."

"Why don't you go on a date with someone your own age?", muttered Usagi. "Like that fairy guy, Perle."

She noticed Chibi-Usa hesitate. "Perle's nice. But… I mean… he's not here right now, so…"

Usagi's eyes narrowed in mild guilt. But… was it so much to ask for a day just with herself and Ma-

The hustle and bustle of the Juban shopping district.

The small face of Chibi-Usa.

The bright sunshine.

It was all abruptly replaced by new, nightmarish sights and sounds. And yet, the words accompanying them were so much worse.

"Tsukino Usagi of Universe M-23-Ov-12-Ie-1995. MovieUsagi. Your world is unique as the threats you faced seemed remarkably short lived. Nevertheless, your lack of experience makes you no less invaluable for this final battle. That is, if you will join it..."

Usagi took less than a second to decide that Chibi-Usa could look after herself well enough. What she'd seen demanded her more immediate attention.

"I will. I'll not let you fight alone."

Just before Usagi vanished, she lamented that she couldn't tell Chibi-Usa that she'd gotten what she wanted. After all, Usagi very much doubted she'd be able to go shopping today…

As Artemis droned on, the voices continued to jeer inside Serenity's head.

"So, Shaman Apsu and the Opposito Senshi had just been defeated. Then what happened?"

"Sin and Apsu merged into the Deity of Destruction," Serenity replied in a bored voice. "Then we beat her."

Artemis hastily entered the information into the official records. "And who exactly defeated her?"

"What? " Serenity moaned.

"Which Senshi beat her?" Serenity pursed her lips. "I know there were two groups, one with you and the other with Small Lady." She gripped the arms of her throne. "So who actually–"

"What does it matter! "

Guilt flooded Serenity, temporarily silencing the whispering voices.

"I'm sorry, Artemis," she said softly.

"Your Majesty…I know I'm not Luna… But… "

Serenity looked into the white face and kind blue eyes, then took a bracing breath.

"Apsu. The Black Moon Clan. Twice I failed to protect Crystal Tokyo. My younger, weaker self saved my kingdom whilst I… was helpless." Her crown slipped slightly. She didn't bother adjusting it. "When I was just Sailor Moon, I always made a difference. But now… Now I'm too old. Too weak. I'm like a glorified NPC."

"A what?"

"'Non-Playable Char– "

A new voice entered her mind, accompanied by unspeakable horrors.

"Tsukino Usagi of Universe G-22-A-09-Me-1995. GameUsagi. Shaman Apsu's machinations made contacting you difficult, this being the most stable point in your timestream. I know you have responsibilities as Queen, but I must nevertheless ask for your help."

Uncertainty gripped Serenity. She'd been contacted out of convenience, not choice. Would accepting mean compromising the mission with her weakness?

But then again... could she live with herself if she didn't try?

"I'm in!"

Serenity didn't dwell on the possibility of never returning home. However, in the instant before she vanished, the nasty little voices began whispering to her again. They asked if her absence would make any difference at all...

"You're still going to Germany?"

Ami nodded. Usagi's heart sank.

"But those Death Mannetjes and Death Nightmares are still out there somewhere! What if they steal your pure heart again?" Lied Usagi. This wasn't about their enemies. It was about her saying goodbye.

Ami looked at her consolingly. "Then I hope you'll be able to see me off for my own protection. You will be there this time…Won't you?"

Usagi knew what she should say , even if it was a lie. But she didn't know if she had the strength for that lie, even for Ami's sake.

Fortunately, she didn't have to. Unfortunately, that was because visions of utter devastation, accompanied by an ethereal voice, had suddenly flooded her mind.

The sensation was so overwhelming that she barely registered the words that followed the vision.

"Tsukino Usagi of Universe M-11-Usi-08-Cal-1993. MusicalUsagi. Your world is strange. Perhaps the strangest of all. You seem to go through periods where versions of the same events play out over and over again but never identically. Some alterations are minor, others major. Regardless, I must ask you, and you alone, for your aid."

Usagi was so overcome with emotion she almost broke into song, but instead she wordlessly replied:

"You got it!"

Usagi almost chuckled. All her worrying about Ami, and it turned out she'd be the one leaving her...

"Rei, slow down!"

To her surprise, Rei came to an abrupt halt. As Usagi drew closer, Rei turned on her heel and glared at her.

"How'd I get stuck babysitting you? "

"I don't need 'babysitting'! " Usagi pouted. "I'm perfectly capable of finding the concert on my own!"

Rei let out a derisive laugh. "Remember how 'capable ' you were when we went to see Michiru and the Three Lights? And, just like back then, you're running late! Which means we probably won't get in and I really didn't want another concert ruined! Especially since the last one got…interrupted..."

Usagi grasped what Rei was thinking. That horrible night was still fresh for all of them. The night Galaxia had…

She began to raise her hand to Rei, hoping to comfort her friend. At the very least, that might make up for them potentially missing the concert. Although personally, Usagi figured the whole day might already be a lost cau-

A disembodied voice and horrific images bombarded her mind. Then…

"Tsukino Usagi of Universe A-07-Ni-03-Me-1992. AnimeUsagi. Across the multiverse, you have battled the longest of all. Now you enjoy the peace you've rightfully earned. Your abstaining would be understandable, but I nevertheless must ask… will you help me!? "

Silently, Usagi answered, before vanishing a split second later.

"Yes. I will help you… Sailor Cosmos…"

Seven figures materialised upon the Moon, a fateful message still reverberating from within in their minds.

"Please, will you help me!?

I am a version of you from a parallel universe.

My ultimate enemy, Sailor Chaos, has sought to destroy my universe by damaging its dimensional walls.

My last resort is sending this telepathic transmission to others like myself. I beg you, let me bring you to my universe so we may combine our powers and, hopefully, end Chaos forever!"

Together, the seven of them gazed upon the two women before them. One was unnaturally large, with a body of black smoke and a crown-like headdress.

The other was normal sized, but wore a white, tattered, Senshi-style uniform and shredded cape. Her equally white hair was long and dishevelled, though her two heart shaped buns were remarkably intact.

"Your desperate illusions cannot deceive me!" hissed Sailor Chaos.

Using her long staff for support, Sailor Cosmos struggled to her feet and looked over at the assembled Usagis.

"Seven of you? That is far more than I dared hope would come. Thank you."

"Whoa!" Exclaimed AnimeUsagi "We're on the Moon!"

" And you're still inside our heads!" Added MovieUsagi.

"My power maintains the atmosphere and forged a telepathic link between us. Through it, I know you all understand what must be done!"

All seven Usagis nodded.

With one hand, LiveUsagi gripped her sword and raised the other to her necklace.

"Moon Prism Power, Make-Up! "

ParallelUsagi threw her hand into the air.

"Moon Crystal Power, Make-Up! "

MusicalUsagi clasped the heart brooch on her chest.

"Moon Cosmic Power, Make-Up! "

MovieUsagi followed suit with her similar accessory.

"Moon Crisis, Make-Up! "

CrystalUsagi gently, yet swiftly, ran her fingers over own brooch.

"Silver Moon Crystal Power, Make-Up! "

AnimeUsagi said nothing, but in a flash she was suddenly clad in a regal white and gold gown, complete with disconnected shoulder pieces.

"I don't need to transform," said GameUsagi, her voice slightly stilted.

The seven swiftly formed a semi-circle around Sailor Cosmos and summoned the greatest weapons they could muster. The Moonlight Stick. The Cutie Moon Rod. The Spiral Heart Moon Rod. The Moon Kaleidoscope. The Eternal Tiare. And a pair of Silver Crystals, one resembling a teardrop, the other a crystalline lotus.

As telepathically instructed, they channelled all their energies through these items and into Sailor Cosmos. Almost immediately, the white Senshi straightened up, her fatigue visibly fading.

"Almost th-"

Chaos extended her talons, hurling black bolts at the eight women!

"NO!"

Sailor Cosmos slammed her staff on the ground, summoning a shimmering dome of light around them.

"Foolish little rabbits! I only let you get so far to regain some of my own strength!"

LiveUsagi's knees began to buckle. MusicalUsagi winced from the strain.

"Maintaining that barrier and the atmospheric field? You'll waste all the energy your comrades lent you! Not that it would've been enough! " Chaos' bolts intensified.

"She's wrong!" implored AnimeUsagi.

CrystalUsagi nodded. "We can win! We just need to-"

"Attack together, " whispered Sailor Cosmos.

The semi-circle tightened up, integrating Sailor Cosmos at the very center. A new wave of light emanated from them, layering itself upon Sailor Cosmos' dome. Five more waves followed, enlarging and reinforcing the barrier until it was the size of a large house. The front of the shield pushed back against the jagged black coils before contracting and then unleashing a thick, silver beam to meet them.

With a strained grunt, Chaos's bolts managed to halt the beam's advance. Maintaining her attack, she took flight and put more distance between herself and the dome.

Slowly, amplified by their mental link, hope began to echo through the Senshi's minds.

Then it died.

Wisps of Chaos's smoky body snaked away from her. Breaking off completely, the wisps began dividing. The smoke 'shards' started reshaping themselves before they finally solidifying, the void shuddering.

Sailor Chaos was surrounded by nothing less than a whole army. Or rather, several armies.

"You aren't the only one who can bring back-up!" chided Jadeite. Behind him, several Shadow Galactica members snickered.

"We are extensions of Chaos herself," added Nephrite. "Forged from the imprints left by all who drew upon her power, even indirectly." The Amazon Trio nodded in affirmation.

Amidst an assortment of Genius Loci and Snow Dancers, Danburite spoke up. "We've even got our own mental link."

"So our Mistress can direct us properly." Zoisite grinned, his smile creepier than the jagged maws of the nearby Daimons. "Not that we can't fight somewhat–"

"–Independently," finished Kunzite. As if to emphasize the point, Prince Demande flourished his cape and performed a mocking bow from the other side of the ranks.

"Except..."

The speaker was obscured by a crowd of Death Busters and Dead Moon Circus members.

"... There are only eight of you…"

The crowd parted, Black Moon Clansmen and Dark Kingdom Youma turning towards their comrade.

"... And five thousand of us!" roared Queen Beryl.

Her cackle spread throughout the clone ranks.

"They're mere facsimiles, weaker than the originals" Sailor Cosmos tried to assure. "We can sti–"

A mad glee came over Sailor Chaos. "ATTACK! Overwhelm their shield! Disrupt their formation! Then I can finally end them!"

In an instant, hundreds of Youma, Droids, Daimons and Lemures were pressed up against the barrier. The shield weakened just enough for a single, familiar Youma to rip her way inside. As her comrades further dismantled the shield, Morga rapidly advanced upon the eight Usagis. Brandishing her talons, she–

"Moon Tiara Magic!"

Morga screamed and crumpled into dust.

Despite penetrating the barrier, Chaos's army halted, psychically sharing in their mistress's shock and confusion.

"I guess I shouldn't be surprised you Negaverse dweezals would try something like that!" Said a second Super Sailor Moon.

"Where'd she come from?" Asked MovieUsagi.

"And why does she sound so weird? " Muttered AnimeUsagi.

"That's down to me."

All eight warriors whipped their heads to the left. The new arrival was yet another Usagi, this one sporting a wing tipped mask and pink hair.

"I'm sharing my brooch's translation function. It can get a bit unreliable when translating one Earth language to another." Nonchalantly, she joined the others, her own energies further reinforcing the barrier.

"Who're you!?"

The pink haired Senshi chuckled at ParallelUsagi. "Well, that voice in my head called me Usagi0. My friends and I were in outer space when I got your message so I couldn't just ditch them. When we got back to base, Mercury used my brooch to amplify your message so I could find you here. Didn't work at first, but that's how I found Serena over there." Usagi0 inclined her head towards the other Super Sailor Moon.

"What does it matter if you are ten rabbits instead of eight?" Their attention was drawn back to Chaos. "You're still outnumbered!"

Usagi0 smirked. "Well... we rabbits… "

A crack of light appeared behind Serena. Through it emerged a woman in a long, silver gown and matching hair, a crown placed neatly between the two buns atop her head. She held a scepter resembling the Cutie Moon Rod, albeit with a longer handle.

Another crack formed and an identical, though younger, woman emerged wearing AnimeUsagi's dress. She joined Neo-Queen Serenity's side along with a third figure resembling LiveUsagi but with a different uniform and a far colder expression. Higher up, three more Princess Serenitys, one silver, one blonde and one naked sans the crystalline flower upon her chest, flew out a fourth portal upon angelic wings.

Dozens, hundreds, a thousand more cracks appeared, coalescing into a singular, gigantic, crescent moon shaped portal. Through it emerged a masked blonde wearing a tuxedo and top hat. Then a young bun-headed girl in a red dress riding a broomstick. Then a black haired maiden in a pink skirt and a rabbit affixed to the centre of her uniform. Thousands more beings of all shapes, sizes, colours and even species followed. Despite their diversity, they all sported a Crescent Moon 'smile' on their person.

"…tend to multiply," finished Usagi0.

Five thousand jaws hung agape.

"Chaos! "

All eyes turned to Sailor Cosmos.

"You were right earlier. There is no one left but me. Just me. But, as you can see...I'm a one woman army!"

A determined look spread across the other eight Senshi who began addressing Chaos themselves.

"You are the single worst entity in all of creation."

"Who's harmed trillions of people!"

"And brought nothing but darkness to the universe."

"Unforgivable!"

"We are the Pretty Sailor Suited Soldiers!"

"Who fight for Love and Justice!"

"We are Sailor Moon!"

"And now, in the name of every Moon…"

"WE SHALL PUNISH YOU! " Chorused the Lunar Legion.

A Usagi riding a flying windsurfer ploughed through hoards of Youma, Droids, Daimons and Lemures. Gaining height, another Senshi also riding the vehicle took aim at a quartet below.

"星月棒,出 击 !"

"Cleansing!" cried PallaPalla, Viluey, Berthier and Zoisite in unison as they turned into wisps of smoke.

The arrival of reinforcements greatly expanded the mental link Sailor Cosmos had established. As such, even whilst they pushed back against Chaos's reinvigorated attack, MusicalUsagi and her eight immediate comrades caught a glimpse of the wider battlefield in their minds.

Thousands of voices yelling. Hundreds of fights breaking out. The portal continuing to pulsate.

It was overwhelming! In times like this, MusicalUsagi often felt like singing; however, now she desperately wanted to scream!

That was when, not for the first time that day, a voice entered her head.

"...You can do this. I know you can..."

The voice was gentle and soothing.

Through something more than mere telepathy, new images flooded MusicalUsagi's mind. But these ones, unlike those Cosmos had shown her earlier, were far less horrific. In seconds, she re-lived her battle with the Death Busters and how she'd saved them, Chibi-Usa, Ami, and everyone else.

How could she have forgotten so soon? Could it have been because of what Cosmos had said about her universe existing in a state of flux?

It didn't matter. All that mattered was that MusicalUsagi once again knew she had the strength to fight on. She had the strength to do anything!

She stood firm and, alongside with her eight comrades, wining some ground against Chaos's attack.

However, unnoticed by anyone else, Sailor Chaos smiled.

A masked Senshi in a white tunic ran Jadeite and VesVes over with a red sports car.

Kôan appeared and hurled flames at the Senshi. From her wing mirror, she spotted Eudial doing the same. The car exploded, but the Senshi had just managed to throw herself clear.

Bruised, she came to roll at the feet of Rubeus who prepared to ignite his own flames. He was blasted back by an unseen assailant. Looking up, the fallen Senshi spotted a fellow Usagi in a peach wedding dress brandishing a glowing bouquet.

Instantly, Kôan and Eudial leapt to Rubeus' side.

"Vortice del cuore di Luna, azione! " yelled another Usagi.

"Lovely!" screamed the trio as they were slammed through a giant pink heart!

Distracted by the battles surrounding her, MovieUsagi instead focused upon dark, still void.

Horror filled her. This had once been the Solar System, but now it was as if it, and the entire universe, had been supplanted by darkness.

No. Not the entire universe.

She knew there was still a little life out there. A few stray survivors who, once upon a time, might've wanted to go shopping. Or gone to see a movie. Or dealt with little brats tagging along on dates.

Not anymore though.

Not unless they won. For the sake of the survivors, MovieUsagi swore she'd fight on!

As her concentration returned, far behind her, the crescent moon portal pulsed and shook, as if cheering her onwards.

Esmeraude's bestial hands grabbed two Usagis in military uniforms and began choking them. Behind her, Tellu had ensnared an eight year old Senshi in her vines.

The child Senshi let out a sonic cry that disoriented the pair momentarily. In a flash, Usagis clad in medieval and samurai armor severed the vines and bestial arms with their swords.

"¡Rayo del Crepúsculo Lunar! "

Another Usagi angled the jewel of her tiara and fired a beam that shot through Esmeraude and Tellu.

As they vanished, a black substance slithered across the air. Suddenly, the Medieval Senshi swung her sword at the samurai, who blocked just in time.

The child Usagi inhaled, priming another sonic scream. A hand clapped around her mouth and her arm was pulled behind her back.

"Hush," hissed JunJun as, next to her, Nephrite grinned and Petz primed a twister of wind.

SHUK!

SHUK!

JunJun whipped her head around and beheld white roses embedded into Petz's and Nephrite's hearts. She turned back just in time to see an Usagi in white Arabian-style garments disappear.

THUMP!

She released the child Senshi as a thick walking stick smacked her head.

"Kids today," muttered an elderly Usagi.

When Sailor Cosmos touched her mind, ParallelUsagi had seen planets burning, cities crumbling and… children…

Her thoughts drifted to Kousagi. Would her daughter have to live through this madness too? Would she truly have to take this risk? If she was a Senshi, wasn't that what destiny demanded of her?

Worse, there was no doubt Kousagi would try to meet that demand. She would inevitably help anyone in need. After all, wasn't that exactly what she'd done when Cosmos had contacted her?

Unshed tears gave way to steely resolve. Yes. She was a Senshi. And that meant it was her duty to ensure Chaos would never hurt another child ever again!

She summoned up desperate energy within her body, transferred it into her weapon and channeled it into their group attack. Their beam accelerated onwards, pushing back against Chaos's ebony lightning. ParallelUsagi felt the spirits of her comrades rise, which in turn raised her own morale, creating a positive feedback loop that further emboldened their attack. The loop levelled out, however, when she briefly glimpsed Chaos's expression.

ParallelUsagi could've sworn the malefic Senshi had seemed merely annoyed. As if her own focus had been diverted from something else...

CereCere, Calaveras, Cyprine and Mimete fired off attacks within Kunzite's protective shield.

A Senshi in silver spandex and a motorcycle helmet attempted to penetrate the shield with her crescent Moon sword but the force rebounded upon her.

Kunzite laughed. "None of you have the firepower to overwhelm my–"

"U-sa-gi-me-HA!"

A Senshi in orange martial arts gi unleashed a blue energy wave that enveloped Kunzite's shield.

The shield shattered, throwing its occupants to the ground.

"Mächte aller Zeiten, lasst die Liebe sich verbreiten!"

"Kaleidoscope lunaire, action!"

A rainbow. A collision of colour.

"Love Lovely Stage Out!" Chorused the villains as the pair of Super Sailor Moons high fived.

AnimeUsagi glared at Chaos with fierce determination in her eyes.

Beyond the Moon, this universe was so quiet, so still, and full of so much despair. But she'd lost and reclaimed too much too often to lose faith now.

Neither this battle, nor this universe, was a lost cause.

Even if this universe's Light of Hope had dwindled to a flickering flame, AnimeUsagi knew they could reignite it. She alone stopped the Chaos of her own universe and now there were thousands of her. Within seconds, identical determined looks broke across her comrades' faces. Like ParallelUsagi before her, AnimeUsagi's confidence had mentally galvanized them.

Far behind them, the crescent moon portal pulsed again and the nine Usagis' attack gained more ground against Sailor Chaos.

A cowgirl Senshi found herself overwhelmed by the Amazon's Trio. Falling back, she lost her footing and tumbled into a crater where the Trio had also herded several other Senshi.

"Up here!"

The trapped Senshi looked up and beheld Sailor Phi flanked by the other Shadow Galactica members. All nine of them brandished their golden bracelets and fired volleys of energy bolts. Moments before the attacks connected, an Amazonian Usagi intercepted the blasts, deflecting back at the Shadow Galactica members with her bracelets.

Flying to the crater's edge, she lowered a lasso and began pulling up her comrades. She stopped, however, when the surrounding area was engulfed in shadow.

It was cast by the gigantic form of Zirconia. Standing at her feet were Prince Demande, Queen Beryl and Germatoid, and levitating above them:

"Only trash shows such mercy," mocked Galaxia.

Something had been nagging at CrystalUsagi since she had arrived. Was it a trace of heartbreak?

Confusion and curiosity getting the better of her, she traced the feeling through the mental link and found…Sailor Cosmos? Why would Cosmos be feeling sad for her?

She felt something in her mind then. As if she was being gently pushed away. Did Cosmos know something she preferred CrystalUsagi not know?

As energy briefly arced from the portal, a horrible thought occurred to CrystalUsagi. There were many similarities and differences between all of them. But what if…what if she and Sailor Cosmos were much more similar than the others?

She took in the nothingness where the stars, the planets, the very Earth used to be. The sight made her chest tighten, far worse than it had earlier with Minako. Her pain and fear began to build. Simultaneously, Chaos's attack inched closer.

CrystalUsagi wasn't sure if the others knew exactly what she was thinking. Nevertheless, it was obvious that her despair was impacting them and undermining their attack. Desperately, she forced the thoughts away and re-focussed.

And yet she could still feel her dread, sense Cosmos's lamentation, and could hear Chaos let out a low cackle.

Beryl extended thick tendrils of red hair and ensnared the Amazonian, slamming her into the ground. Above, the windsurfer Usagi weaved out of Zirconia's reach and took aim at Beryl. She froze as Demande fixed her with his third eye, her vehicle soon crashing. The Medieval and Arabian Senshi, meanwhile, were just barely evading Germatoid's strikes, their own having little effect upon the monstrosity.

"ENOUGH OF THIS!" bellowed Zirconia, the 'mouth' upon her tunic opening and sweeping up the Senshi in a wave of ebony energy.

"U-sa-gi-me-HA!"

A blue energy wave shot directly at the mouth! Galaxia swatted the blast away then zoomed across the sky, kneeing the orange clad Senshi in the stomach.

BLAM!

As something ricocheted off her armor, Galaxia glanced back to her comrades and spotted a masked Senshi aiming a handgun at her. She fired off three more useless rounds before rolling out of the way of Zirconia's massive foot.

As Galaxia lost sight of her, Demande advanced upon the fallen windsurfer, his third eye wide open. He halted as his face was enveloped in fabric and he was yanked back. The fabric was a white cape belonging to another masked Usagi. Free again, the windsurfer was helped to safety by a Senshi wearing fuchsia gloves.

"Cover us, V-chan," she called over to her comrade with a crown fixed between her hair buns.

"Maybe I won't have to," muttered V-chan, looking up.

Two Eternal Sailor Moons flew in upon their wings, their Eternal Tiares held aloft.

"Медовый поцелуй невесты!"

"銀白之月水晶力量華光 !"

The quintet of villains screamed.

"Beautiful!"

"Beautiful!"

"Beautiful!"

"Beautiful!"

"NOOOOOO!"

Whilst her comrades dissipated, Galaxia merely crashed to the ground, her armor cracked and tarnished.

"G-g-Galactica INFLATION!"

Her blast knocked the gang of Senshi back, rendering them helpless. Panting, she struggled to her feet, but upon straightening up, something collided with her head, knocking off her headdress and exposing her orange gold hair that ended in crimson tips.

"Looks like you need to bleach those roots, creep."

With a snarl, Galaxia looked around and spotted someone catching a gleaming tiara.

"On behalf of the Moon, I shall right wrongs and triumph over evil. And that means you! " said Serena.

Despite the mental link, the only voices GameUsagi heard in her mind were decidedly unfriendly.

Like Chaos, Shaman Apsu had revived her old enemies too.

The jeering voices grew louder.

What if Chaos conjured up a monstrosity like the Deity of Destruction?

Her energy began to decrease.

She shouldn't have come here. She wasn't a Senshi anymore. She'd been recruited out of convenience.

Chaos grinned as her attack began to inch closer.

Maybe she could be replaced by someone better suited for this. Desperately, GameUsagi cast her mind across the battlefield.

With a sudden rush, she caught glimpses of a life that was familiar, yet different. The Black Moon Clan, Wiseman, and a lifetime of relying on others? With a jolt, GameUsagi realised she had peeked inside the memories of another Neo-Queen Serenity. And her silver-haired counterpart had apparently lost her Senshi powers altogether!

But she was still here. Still doing what she could to help.

GameUsagi burned with shame. A more devastating shame than she'd felt earlier, when she alone hadn't transformed. Amidst her shame, she caught AnimeUsagi's eye. In her mind, she saw a girl standing up to Wiseman, turning the tide only when she changed from a Senshi into a Queen. The Queen GameUsagi was now.

Her eye was drawn upwards as Chaos gave a small grunt. It didn't take long for her to deduce why. Chaos' ebony bolts had been pushed back just a little.

Suddenly, her mind was blissfully silent.

Serena flung her tiara. Galaxia loosed energy bolts.

In one fluid motion, Serena remotely maneuvered the discus away from the bolts, dodged them herself, and arced the tiara back around.

"RAAARGH!"

A gash shone upon Galaxia's cheek.

"Why you-"

CLANG!

The discus had arced around again and connected with her hip.

The tiara moved in sync with Serena's lightning quick gestures, flying back to land blow after blow upon Galaxia.

Quicker than lightning, Galaxia finally caught the discus and hurled it back at Serena. Serena thrust out her arm but the tiara didn't stop. A red scratch adorned her arm as she threw herself out of the way.

Her eye on the incoming discus, Serena manifested her Energy Rainbow Moon Wand and used it like a baseball bat, shattering the tiara.

Before she could catch her breath, Galaxia was behind her. Grabbing Serena's pigtails, she proceeded to wrap them around her neck. Serena dropped her weapon and just barely brought her hand up between her throat and the blonde 'noose'.

"Nothing to say , Sailor Scout? Then why don't you–"

Serena screamed!

As the sonic waves hit her, Galaxia yelled in pain and released her victim. Dimly, she noted Serena lunging for something. When her vision cleared, the Scout had both her Moon Wand and Moon Scepter crossed in front of her.

"Moon Target Elimination!"

Yet more of Galaxia's armor was torn off her as the attack hit!

Gritting her teeth, eyes burning with rage, Galaxia crossed her arms.

"Galactica Super String!"

For a moment, the attacks struggled against one another. Then Galaxia's began to steadily inch forwards before, in a flash of blinding light Serena was suddenly knocked backwards, her pigtails whipping around her in a cruel parody of a spinning top! With a painful thud she crashed to the ground, her uniform scorched and torn.

Groggy, disorientated, but nevertheless fueled by determination (and lingering adrenaline), Serena scrambled to her feet, dimly aware that she was struggling more than she ought to be. As her vision cleared slightly, she realized that, apparently on instinct, she had managed to keep a grip of both of her weapons. Although, as she regained more of her senses, Serena detected something off about the items in her hand.

"You seem to be struggling there, Super Sailor Moon."

Confused at first, Serena dared to gaze down at her left hand where, instead of her Moon Wand she held instead the inferior Spiral Heart Moon Scepter. Serena's alarm and confusion was interrupted when a shower of glittering sparks spat out from her waist area. Hastily she gripped the heart-shaped brooch on her beltline.

To her horror it was cracked, with sporadic sparkles of glitter emanating from the breaches like electrical sparks. The item pulsed a bright pink light and as the light faded, for just a moment, Serena's skirt turned from dominantly white to solid blue. She was losing her power, steadily reverting from her Super to her regular Sailor Senshi form! With her desperation rising, Serena crossed both scepters in her hands and summoned the strength to unleash another attack.

"Moon Heart Ache Elimination!"

Unlike their prior clash, Galaxia was unfazed by Serena's technique. Rather than retaliate, she simply let the energy waves hit her full force. Her eyes adjusting to the light of her own attack, Serena soon made out the mocking smirk upon Galaxia's face. It was an expression that grew ever clearer as Galaxia began slowly, casually, walking through the energy waves towards Serena.

Her brow furrowing, Serena increased the force of her attack. Galaxia's pace remained consistent.

She tried again. This time there was no change to her attack at all.

She tried a third time! Galaxia's smirk came into greater focus as the energy waves dwindled into meager streams.

Desperate, scared, Serena nevertheless stood her ground as Galaxia extended her hand out, her bracelets glowing gold and her smirk morphing into a wicked cackle of delight. Her malevolent mirth did not last however.

Galaxia's gaze had shifted to a spot some distance behind Serena where V-chan and the fuschia gloved Senshi had gathered. With confusion, and mild annoyance, she saw their ranks joined by the white caped Senshi and gun-toting Usagi she had faced earlier. As one they began to glow and extend their arms outwards. Instinctively, Galaxia braced herself, preparing to take aim at the quartet. That was when she realized they were not reaching out at her. At once, her eyes snapped back to Serena!

The Sailor Scout's attack had halted completely, but not because she had at last run out of strength. On the contrary, she seemed invigorated. Then, taking even Serena by surprise, the young woman began to levitate off the ground, her weapons falling from her hands only to begin orbiting her as if they were planets and she their star. And, much like a star, Serena's body began emitting an aura of dancing red-white light!

So powerful was the aura Serena now emitted, that Galaxia was knocked off her feet and unable to see clearly. As her enemy regained her bearings, Serena wrapped her arms around herself and uttered words that instinctively welled up within her mind.

" Moon La Cygne Power! "

Serena unwrapped and extended her arms like wings, revealing her Super Sailor Moon uniform had vanished. In its place was a white bodysuit cut low above her bust, with a bow made of an iridescent tulle fabric that flowed over her bare shoulders and met up with similar fabric that formed part of her red and white layered skirt. Where the two sets of tulle met, they formed a large bow that evoked butterfly wings. Between the twin buns atop her head sat a wing tipped crown with a heart shaped jewel at its center that was the same shade of red as her high heels. A split second later, the two weapons orbiting Serena dissipated into a shower of sparkles which flew to her left hand, intermingling and reforging themselves into a single large staff topped by another crimson heart and a similarly crimson orb.

"Hey, Galaxia!" called out Serena, a smirk adorning her own face now. "Sailor Moon Says," Serena grasped and ignited her new weapon. "Moon Destiny Embrace!" She took aim at the stunned and slack-jawed Galaxia. "Now, you say…"

"BEAUTIFUL!"

LiveUsagi felt a twinge around her stomach. The sensation caused her thoughts to wander back home. Simultaneously, she spied the vast void beyond the Moon. Her eyes trailed back down where she glimpsed the hundreds of fights raging around them.

Mere hours ago, she'd been upset that things were 'less than ideal'? How ridiculous. How selfish.

Compared to this, her 'less than ideal' situation was paradise . She had joy! She had love! She had...

Her stomach twinged again.

...She had a future.

The crescent Moon portal gave another shudder, as if affirming her resolve.

LiveUsagi set her sights ahead, drawing more energy from her core and directing every iota of it against their adversary.

Her attention wavered only once more when she chanced a glance at Chaos. From her vantage point LiveUsagi could hardly see her. Nevertheless, what little she could see confused her. Chaos didn't seem particularly unnerved at all. In fact, she seemed almost...contemplative?

"...Something's wrong..." muttered Cosmos.

Like LiveUsagi and Cosmos, the other seven focused upon Chaos' face. Her eyes were closed, as if she were in pain.

Suddenly, ebony energy erupted from her back, splintering off into several directions. The remnants of her army transformed into smoke and flew off the Moon, converging around the splinters of energy. The void around Chaos shuddered again as the energy streams began to take shape.

One was a malformed upper body with bumps adorning its bald head. Another was a veritable demon with a fanged maw. The last of them was beautiful, with piercing gold eyes.

Sailor Chaos laughed. As did Nehalennia, Pharaoh 90, Metalia, and another strangely disembodied voice. Amidst their cackling, an entire planetary body materialized. Upon its surface was a flaming skull, a black crescent moon adorning its forehead.

Death Phantom's siblings zoomed towards Nemesis, swiftly disappearing from sight. Metalia's maw grew across the flaming 'face'. Then, one of Pharaoh 90's eyes and one of Nehalennia's popped into the empty eye-sockets. A white circle appeared around the black crescent moon. A black star encased the 'third eye' before being surrounded by a glowing diamond.

The assembled Senshi were transfixed by the monstrosity. And, as it advanced, all were utterly unaware of the portal pulsing behind them.

The Legion's collective despair resounded within Cosmos's mind.

Chaos's facsimiles had exhausted them and bought time for her to summon her ultimate weapon. Now, this 'Chaos Moon' was closing in fast, denying them time to recover and rebuff it.

How cruel of fate to have tricked her into believing they could win. How much crueler that it should happen here, where she'd lost everything once before to the Dark Kingdom.

For a moment, Cosmos became painfully aware of the stripes upon her skirt and she desperately wished she could see them one last time. Or at very least...him...

Whilst the nine Usagis vainly continued to attack, every other Senshi fell to their knees as the Moon was bombarded by shockwaves.

As she struggled to lift her head, Serena found her attention drawn behind her to the crescent moon portal. It was pulsing and began to grow rapidly until something extraordinary stepped out of it.

"SORRY I'M LATE, I'M ALWAYS SLEEPING IN! NAME'S BUNNY! "

Serena pinched herself.

It was a positively GARGANTUAN rabbit.

Ears twitching, nose wrinkling, the lapine raised her eyes skywards to the Chaos Moon.

"AH, I SEE. LEAVE IT TO ME."

Manifesting a colossal mallet, Bunny bent her knees and hopped, flying towards the Chaos Moon and out of sight!

For a moment, there was simply stunned silence. Then the symbol upon the moon's 'forehead' began to crack. The cracks multiplied, spreading across the planetoid.

"THAT OUGHTA DO IT! " Said Bunny as she landed back down.

The Chaos Moon burst apart!

But in place of debris, the moon's remains were now…

"Rice cakes?" Serena muttered. "Well…you don't see that everyday…"

Tentatively, she and her comrades chowed down on the treats as they rained down upon the Moon.

"And now that we're powered back up…Everyone, give your energy to Sailor Cosmos!"

Silver auras ignited around the Legionnaires. Thousands of silver streams flew across the Moon. The nine Usagis suddenly straightened up. Cosmos stepped out of her semi-circle, the others channeling the Legion's energy into her.

Cosmos shone bright. Chaos's bolts abruptly fizzled out, leaving her slack-jawed and quivering. Cosmos's staff morphed. First into a golden tiara, then into a glittering discus.

"Cosmic..."

"Wait! " cried Chaos.

"...Tiara..."

"Please!"

"... Boomerang!"

Cosmos flung the discus!

It sliced open Chaos's neck, reducing it to a hinge!

Chaos's smoky body solidified whilst simultaneously dissipating into dust.

"… I… just wanted… to be… a… staaaaaaaaarrrrrrr…"

With her last whisper, Sailor Chaos body dissolved completely, leaving behind a tiny black crystal. However, a moment later even that crumbled to dust.

"Is it…over?" asked GameUsagi.

All eyes were on the spot where the black crystal once had been.

Sailor Cosmos turned back to the others. "Yes. Sailor Chaos is no more."

ParallelUsagi broke into joyous laughter whilst LiveUsagi clasped her hands together and began to tear up. "Thank goodness."

MovieUsagi hopped into the air, "You did it!"

"Ahem," coughed Usagi0, "I think you mean..."

"We did it!" chorused MusicalUsagi and Serena.

"WE DID IT!" roared the other Legionnaires.

Cheers and applause broke out across the Moon!

CrystalUsagi, however, was staring at Sailor Cosmos, who was equally quiet, her gaze downcast.

"...What's wrong..." CrystalUsagi's voice was almost trembling as she drew closer.

A haunting sadness was etched across Cosmos face. "We won…but…" Cosmos's eyes turned towards the empty void where once there might've been stars, "…at what cost…"

CrystalUsagi stiffened. "But there is still life out there? The universe will recover, right?"

Sailor Cosmos shrugged. "Yes, but it will take billions of years before the Milky Way alone repopulates, and even then..." She closed her eyes. "Nothing could ever be the same. There will be new planets, perhaps even old stars in new forms...But the universe as it was known... As I knew it..." CrystalUsagi stared blankly, seemingly numb. "That is gone for good."

Cosmos reopened her eyes, a tinge of steel behind them. "I tried running from that reality once. But…" Her eyes flickered over to CrystalUsagi for a moment, "someone showed me that to be worthy of my title, I had to have the courage to throw away my attachments to the universe as it was and instead accept everyone and everything in the universe that is and will be."

"...But…won't you be…all alone?"

Cosmos looked away from CrystalUsagi.

"It is what I deserve for my cowardice."

"Nobody deserves that!"

Both of them almost jumped at AnimeUsagi's sudden interjection.

"If it wasn't for you, there wouldn't even be a universe left to rebuild. There has to be something we can do. Someway we can undo all of Chaos's damage."

"... H-how, though?" There was a childlike quality to CrystalUsagi's question.

AnimeUsagi held up her brooch. "In my universe, this Silver Crystal was able to restore Nehelenia's whole kingdom. Maybe..."

AnimeUsagi stopped at the tearful, sad smile on Cosmos's face. "We're talking about something incalculably larger than a single kingdom. Besides, I believe it wasn't your crystal alone that managed to do that."

"But..." Cosmos turned back to CrystalUsagi. "...We aren't alone..."

The windsurfing Usagi pulled up to them. The tuxedo-clad Senshi tipped her hat. And Usagi0 beckoned over dozens more bun-headed warriors. Finally, a shadow engulfed the gathering.

"WHADDA WE GOT TA LOSE?"

Sailor Cosmos looked from Bunny's colossal eyes to CrystalUsagi's, who stared back at her pleadingly.

"... Alright... Let's give it a shot."

In perfect unison, thousands of eyes closed and mentally chanted three words:

"MOON HEALING ESCALATION!"

Usagi blinked.

Rei.

A haunted expression on her face.

The horrible memory that had put it there.

It was like her mind had skipped a beat and was now refreshing itself.

She raised her hand, but instead of comforting Rei, she grabbed her wrist and began running down the street.

"What're you doing!?"

"Heading for the concert! Weren't you the one complaining that we were going to be late?"

Usagi shot a look back and saw Rei's expression change. Confusion had replaced the haunted look and now both were supplanted by laughter.

Together they raced through Juban, each feeling utterly alive, their concerns forgotten.

Usagi stood before the apprehensive face of Ami.

Suddenly the words came naturally to her.

"I will definitely be there to see you off, Ami. And don't you dare try to leave early this time."

As both girls teared up and hugged one another, Usagi knew she meant every single word.

"- acter' ..."

For a moment, Serenity was lost in the pleasant warmth of the sunlight emanating from the palace window.

Then she heard a voice.

"Please believe me, Your Majesty, you are definitely not an Enn-pee-cee."

"...You're right."

Serenity fixed Artemis with a small smile, feeling a sudden sense of ease and confidence.

"I might've taken a loss or two, but you can't let that stop you, right?"

"Um, no, you cannot." Artemis said in mild confusion.

Serenity looked beyond the window. "Somehow, someway, I can always make a difference. Whether it's the Black Moon clan, Shaman Apsu, or maybe someone worse."

"Who could be worse? " Artemis inquired.

She shrugged. "I dunno Guess that'd be another story..."

The bright sunshine.

The hustle and bustle of the Juban shopping district.

And, of course, the small face of Chibi-Usa before her.

Gently, Usagi placed her hands upon the young girl's shoulders.

"Why don't we go shopping together. But only after we've seen that movie?"

"Why're you acting so differently all of a sudden?" Chibi-Usa asked confusedly.

The truth was, Usagi wasn't quite sure herself. "Does it matter?"

A moment later, mother and daughter walked away, hand-in-hand.

Luna blinked again.

Usagi stood in the kitchen, trying to regain her train of thought.

"Kousagi…"

Her eyes fell upon the Crystal Star locket. Curiously, the pink and gold colouring suddenly seemed much brighter.

Her mind returned to the battles she and her friends had fought. And the faces of all the people they'd saved.

"…Maybe it's okay for Kousagi to be a Senshi. So long as I'm there to help and protect her, give her some normalcy." She smiled. "That's my duty as a Senshi. And as a mother."

"-me." finished Makoto. "...Usagi? Are you still there?"

Usagi shook her head slightly and raised the phone to her ear.

"Listen, Mako! I know Motoki's turtle thing can be a little annoying at times. But just because things can be less than ideal doesn't mean they aren't precious!"

"Whoa, calm down, Usagi," said Makoto. "I wasn't that serious. Has… Has something happened with your new hubby?"

Usagi considered the question. Then a calm contentment spread through her. "I'm fine, Mako." Gently, she placed a hand on her stomach. "We're all fine..."

Usagi eyes locked onto the shooting star cutting through the dark void. Closing her eyes, the words rang out strong and true in her mind.

"Sooooooo...what did you wish for?" Asked Minako moments later.

"Oh... you know…"

Minako raised an eyebrow. "I suppose it's safe to presume it involved a certain 'cute guy', right?"

Usagi smiled, her chest feeling a little lighter. She didn't really know why, though, because nothing had actually changed.

Nothing, sans a silvery orb appearing from behind some clouds.

Amidst the bright Solar System, two figures danced upon the Moon.

"Be honest. Did you ever doubt you'd win?"

Despite her contentment, she didn't have the heart to lie, especially not to him.

"Yeah, I did…Did you?"

He shook his head.

"How come?"

"Because I've always known that, no matter what, you will shine bright. For now, and all eternity."

Endymion leaned in and, as their lips met, the Earth seemed to hang massive behind them.

"I'm Tsukino Usagi. I'm over fourteen billion years old and in my second incarnation. I've been a princess, a queen, a klutz, and, I have to admit, sometimes a cry-baby. But the truth is, I am a pretty, sailor-suited soldier of love and justice. Sailor Cosmos...

… Although, in my heart, I'll always be… Sailor Moon..."

A/N: For anyone who has read my stories before you may well have noticed that this fic is an alternate take on my older story 'The Last Sailor War'. I began writing the latter in 2021for a fanzine called Drops of Moonlight, which was themed around both the 30th Anniversary of Sailor Moon and 'Post-canon'. Well, you can't get anything more post-canon that what happened to Sailor Cosmos after she returned to the future. And what better way to commemorate Sailor Moon's anniversary than by celebrating all the different iterations of the series.

The problem was that the zine had a word limit my story far exceeded. So, I opted to create this shorter version from the first draft I'd laid down. That also gave me the opportunity to include old ideas I had changed in the longer version (such as Chaos' final fate) and include brand new scenes (Serena's encounter with Galaxia, one of my favourite bits from this fic). Even the title of the stories were an example of this. 'Sailor Moon: The End...' was my original intended title, but 'The Last Sailor War' was something I had been considering as an alternative.

If you enjoyed this story please consider checking out 'The Last Sailor War' as you may well find more of what you liked in that story too. Regardless however, thank you for reading.
