*Author Note: Hi readers. Here is a new fic I hope that you like it. In this story there is no magic and they never were in fairytales. It all happens in real world. I don't own the characters or the show just the idea. ~Potter-Weasley-Granger1*

Emma wasn't looking for love, she wasn't even looking for her soulmate. She had her heart broken before and she wasn't going to fall for that nonsense again. She thought she had it, she really did, with Neal. They were perfect together. Two people cut from the same cloth. He thought it too, so much so that they created a life together only for him to leave when she needed him the most. Now Neal didn't exactly know that he had brought another human into the world, no, he left before he could be told the news. Something about knowing who his soulmate was, and he had to locate her. A couple of months later she receive a wedding notice for one Neal Cassidy and Tamara. Of course she didn't go to her ex's wedding, I mean what a way to find out you're a father than to see your ex four months pregnant at your wedding to another woman.

She then decided that it was time to leave Oregon. She needed a fresh start, new roots. She stayed with Neal hoping that the soulmate search was fake and that they could have it all. Maybe she would head to Boston, or she heard great things about Maine in the wintertime. Her parents lived in Maine. What a way to tell your mom and dad that you hadn't made the best choices when they sent you off to college.

Getting into her old yellow VW bug she quickly buckled up before heading to the convenient store in search of travel sustenance. A can of pringles, a couple of bottle drinks, her favorite Apollo candy bar after a full tank of gas she was ready to begin her journey. Cross country road trip here she comes. Pregnancy had created in Emma, like most women, a small bladder. She constantly had to stop to take pee breaks causing it to take much longer than necessary to get back to Maine.

She began to mentally prepare herself for the earful that she was bound to get when she entered her childhood home in Storybrooke. She knew her mother would be supportive but remind her that they had the discussion about how to not let that happen. She also knew that her father would demand to know who the father was and question why he wasn't with her. The whole discussion would then be over as Neal was married to Tamara and Emma was with no one.

Her parents were soulmates. They found each other long ago. Her father was promised to another woman, but he didn't love her, and they were not a soulmate match. Back then it was a little less important to everyone if you found your match. Her mother, thinking that he was someone else sabotaged his travel with his fiancé and then as they fought, they fell in love. Her mother would claim that it wouldn't be until later when they went to retrieve the gems that she took from him and sold at the pawn shop that she fell in love. Her father would say when she hit him on the chin with a rock was when he knew.

They both immediately, as soon as they looked into each other's eyes they knew they were a match, but her mother had a plan, and her father was being robbed. Even a soulmate match wasn't going to stop that from happening. Her grandfather was furious to find out that her father was not going to marry his fiancé, but that instead he found his soulmate match in a common thief and that he was willing to risk his life to be with her.

Her best friend since childhood, Regina, had found her soulmate match right before Emma left for college. His name was Daniel he worked as a handman in Storybrooke. They loved each other deeply and longed for a day where they would be able to have a family. She knew that her being with child might upset her friend and she hoped that Regina would understand and be happy for her, but also just be a friend. Growing up they were always able to have a shoulder to cry on and maybe, just maybe that was exactly what Emma needed right now.

After several days of bathroom breaks and hotel stops Emma finally arrived in Boston a short days trip from Storybrooke. She didn't bother to let anyone know that she was coming. They would do something weird like hold a coming home party and that was the last thing that she wanted. She was coming back to Storybrooke to figure out what was next. This was the one place in the world that she felt safe all of the time. The one place where all of her friends and all of her family was at the same place. She just needed time to think and figure it all out.

Driving into town limits her left-hand rests on her belly as her right hand grips the wheel. She has suddenly started to feel anxious, and her knuckles have begun to turn white on her right hand. She gently rubs her belly in a protective fashion whispering, "I will always protect you."

She drives further into town stopping in front of her parents' house, two stories with a front yard and a white picket fence. Every little girls dream and the name 'Nolan's' painted in blue cursive script across a white board on the fence.

She takes a deep breath before forcing herself out of the car, it is now or never. She grabs her small duffle with everything that she owns in it and walks up the pathway to the stairs that lead to the door. Knocking on the door someone quickly comes to answer. Dumbfound there stands her mother clearly surprised to see her. "Hi mom, I am home," she says.
