Chapter One
The Date

Yugi Mutou was nervous. So, nervous that he made sure that his outfit was okay looking, as was his hair… until his grandpa pushed him out of the house and told him to have a "Good time!" so here he stood as he waited for Ino's mysterious friend that he was supposed to help out…

"Is that you, Yugi?" Yugi blinked when he heard a feminine voice, and he looked up and then he swallowed hard. There stood a woman of twenty-two, she was at least 5'3" in height with lovely pink hair that was in an updo and beautiful emerald-green eyes, fair skin that was slightly tan. She is wearing a short sleeveless red dress with red open-toe heels. She is holding a red purse to top off the outfit.

She looked good in red… she also looked familiar to him, didn't Ino have a best friend that had pink hair? Wasn't her name Sakura- "Sakura!" he said surprised. And she just smiled at him. "Figured it out, huh." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, it's been such a long time and I only met you once…" She walked up to him and nodded in understanding. She then looked at him. Ino was right, he had grown taller - he was now 5'6" but he still had a slim build… his tricolored hair was the same, blonde lightning bolt bangs, while the rest of his hair was shaped like a star was black and red. His skin was fair looking and was lighter than hers, but not by much. He was wearing a violet-colored dress shirt with a pale purple vest over top, his favorite black and silver choker around his neck, and his sleeves rolled up just about his elbows. A man's cream-colored bracelet around his right wrist, black leather pants with a black and silver belt, and black and silver shoes.

He was stylish, to say the least, and did she mention hot… bad Sakura! Bad!

"Sh-shall we go?" he asked nervously as he blushed a tiny bit. Sakura was really beautiful - any idiot could see that! But she was a more mature person than he was… she had been married and had lost her husband at an early age… he had gone through a messy breakup with his girlfriend that he couldn't get over. "Lead the way…"

As they walked. Sakura spoke up again. "What did my best friend tell you?" she asked with narrowed emerald-green eyes. He swallowed hard. "She said that you had lost your husband two years ago and that and you were depressed…"

"I'm not depressed!"

"And that you've been locking yourself inside your house…" he put up his hand. "Sakura, I just want to help… I don't know what it is like to lose the one you love in death, but…" he looked down at his feet as he dropped his hands. "I lost the person I love to another guy who stole her from me…"

"Yugi…" she said softly as she looked at him, a sad look on her features. What would happen if Sasuke ever went to another woman… if he hadn't died - how would she feel? Would she feel the same?

"Sometimes I wonder if I couldn't have been stronger, I could have won her back…" She went up to him and kissed his cheek, he blinked and then blushed crimson. "Don't worry about 'what ifs' right now. We are going on my date as of right now!" she looped her arm around his and he looked at her in shock. "Where are you taking me, anyway?"

"Un, a nice restaurant, if you don't mind the food being on a little on the expensive side."

"As of right now, I don't care! I'm hungry! Let's eat! Lead the way."

"Uh, okay," he said softly as they walked arm in arm, while he blushed crimson all the while.

:::::

"I'm sorry." Yugi slightly bowed his head to Sakura. "Every time I brought Anzu here with me when we were just friends at the time, they thought that we were going out… the media are horrible." He whispered the last part to her. She nodded in understanding. "I understand, completely - you are known as the King of Games?" she asked him as she tilted her head to the side. He nodded his head. "Yeah…I'm really good at playing games." He said as he rubbed the back of his neck modestly. And Sakura giggled at how shy he was.

"What kind of games do you like to play?" she asked.

"Any game really…" but then his violet eyes lit up. "But I really like Duel Monsters, it's a card game…"

Sakura nodded and smiled as she listened to him. She was glad to see him smile. She smiled at the waiter as he brought her, her food. "Thank you." She said and Yugi did the same, but he silently glared at the waiter as he was eying Sakura with lustful eyes. "Do you need anything else?" asked the waiter - who was ready to be punched…

"No, we are good." Said Yugi suddenly and quickly. The waiter nodded but seemed to mutter something under his breath as he left.

Did Sakura know that the waiter was eying her? With lust in his eyes?

Oh, she knew, she just chose to ignore it. She didn't want her time with Yugi to be wasted. Besides, if he did anything to her, she would deal with it.

:::::

As it turns out, the waiter did try something - he cornered her by the women's bathroom… but with the flick of her wrist, he went flying into the dining area. No one could figure out who had done it to him, but Yugi figured it out and thankfully the man was only unconscious. Yugi raised his hand and spoke up. "Ch-check please!" By the time Sakura came back, Yugi had paid for the meal and was getting ready to go. "Were leaving?" she asked innocently. "Yes!" He grabbed her hand and rushed her out of the somewhat fancy restaurant. Once they were safely outside and some distance away, he pulled away from her and then faced her. "What happened in there to make you floor him!"

Sakura raised a pink eyebrow and then huffed. "He tried to pull a fast one on me," she said as she crossed her arms over her chest. Yugi blinked at her. "He didn't touch you in anyway that was improper, did he?" he asked, worried. She shook her head. "No… but he would have if I didn't stop him." She smiled at him. "Thank you for the concern, but I'm a big girl - I can take care of myself…"

"But - It's a guy's job to protect the girl he has for his date…" she blinked at him. "Not that you can't take care of yourself! You have shown that you can… but still…" she smiled at him. "Your sweet Yugi." She replied as she kissed his cheek once again and he blushed again. "How about we do something fun…" she said in a low soft voice. "F-fun?" he squeaked. "Yeah! Like that!" she said with a grin. Yugi stared behind him and saw a poster for a wrestling match…

'Huh!?'

:::::

"Go, Go!" Cheered Sakura. Yugi sweated, who knew Sakura Haruno liked wrestling… he felt out of place here. He was hoping for a nice movie… "Man, your girlfriend is really into wrestling, isn't she?" A pretty girl sitting next to him shouted. He looked towards her, and he could only nod. "Yeah." He shouted back. 'What am I saying! If Sakura hears me, she'll kill me!' "How about you ditch her and hang out with me?"

Oh no… he was in trouble…

Sakura looked over and glared and Yugi winched. She then smiled and took hold of Yugi's hand. "C'mon Yugi~ let's get going!" Sakura dragged Yugi with her in a hurry. Once they were outside of the place of the wrestling match, she let go of Yugi's hand. She put her hands on her slim but curvy hips. "Who did that bitch think she was! You're my date!" she said with a huff. Yugi blushed crimson at her comment, she was acting like they were dating or something… "Um… what about a movie?" he suggested suddenly, and Sakura blinked at him, she looked at her watch. "Do we have time for a movie?" she asked. "I think so, I still want this date to work…" he said slowly.

She nodded. "Alright! Let's do this! What do you want to see?"

She's asking me? "I'll let you pick, Sakura." He said softly as he looked at her kindly. She raised an eyebrow. "You sure? It could be some chick flick, I'm a sap for those movies." He just smiled. "I don't mind, I would watch those movies with Anzu all the time…" he said with a blush. She grinned. "Great! Let's find a movie!"

:::::

The best thing about the date was the movie - nothing bad happened there, thankfully… Sakura enjoyed it and Yugi had to admit so did he. They were now standing by Yugi's house, which was weird - shouldn't he be the one walking her home… ugh - but she lived so far away and in a hidden village… "Thank you for tonight, Yugi." She said with a smile. She bent down and kissed his cheek, and he blushed crimson. "I enjoyed myself."

"Will you be, okay?" he asked her. She huffed. "I'm a kunoichi and the strongest one at that! I'll be fine." She then waved goodbye. "We should do this again, tell your grandfather hi for me." She said with a smile. He waved goodbye. "I will, be safe." He whispered the last part as he saw her vanish from sight.

:::::

"You're back late." Yugi jumped out of his skin when he heard his grandfather's voice. "Grandpa! Don't do that!" His Grandpa chuckled. "Did you have a good time with Sakura?" he asked his grandson. "Yes, actually - wait, how did you know it was Sakura?" Yugi asked with narrow violet eyes, Sugoroku laughed. "Ino told me!"

Yugi muttered something under his breath. "Figures."

"Have you found that you two have something in common?" Now that he thought about it, she did agree with most things that he was saying tonight - she seemed like she was interested in the different games that he would play when he was younger and still played, and at some point - Anzu got tired at some point with the duel monsters and all the games… why she went to Kaiba of all of the people, he would never know why. He thought sadly.

"Yugi?"

"Uh, yeah! We have quite a bit in common actually…" 'Including our hearts being broken.' "Why do you ask?"

"Oh, nothing really… that she seems like a nice girl…" Yugi frowned at his grandpa. He was about to say something, but Sugoroku interrupted. "She would make a good friend, Yugi." Yugi blinked. "Friend?" Sugoroku nodded. "Unless you want something more than just friendship from Sakura?" he inquired. Their time together flashed before Yugi's eyes, her smiling face, the small kisses that she gave him on the cheek…, and the time at the restaurant when they had peacefully talked to each other…. his mind was acting like this was an ongoing process between them, when it was only one night! He blushed. "No! Of course not."

"That's what I thought. Yugi, Sakura needs a friend. You can do that can't you?" Yugi gave a curt nod. "Of course, Grandpa!"

"Good, it will be good for you too."

"Er… grandpa…" Sugoroku just chuckled. "Come on, we have to get up bright and early tomorrow ~"

Yugi nodded, right - another day at the game shop. As he watched his grandfather walk upstairs, the thoughts of Sakura Haruno appeared in his mind.

:::::

"So how was your date with my cousin?"

"Dammit, Ino! What are you doing in my house!" Sakura glared at her best friend. "I want to know the deets! And you're home late…" Ino said with a grin as she crossed her leg over the other. Sakura sighed as she sat down. "Not that it's any of your business what we did… but we had a nice meal, we went to a wrestling match-"

"What! Yugi doesn't even like wrestling! Why did he take you there?"

"Well, I kind of dragged him there…" Sakura said sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her neck, Ino glared at her, and Sakura winched. "Sakura! You call that a date!" Sakura groaned. "We then went to a movie okay! He let me pick, you know I'm a sap for romantic films." Sakura said with a whine. Ino raised an eyebrow at her friend. "He didn't complain about it?" she asked surprised. "Well, no - he said he had no problem with it. He used to watch those kinds of movies with Anzu all the time."

Ino frowned at first and then she grinned. "Just like a loyal boyfriend!" she said, and Sakura blushed. "W-what!?"

"Oh, nothing…" She stood up and faced Sakura. "Y'know you should visit Yugi tomorrow." Sakura frowned at her friend. "Why would I visit him tomorrow?" she asked her. "It will get you out of the house again… and you two are friends now, right? Get to know him better, find out what it's like outside the shinobi nation!"

"Uh, Ino - I don't know…"

"C'mon," Ino said as she patted her back. "It would be good for you and him!"

"…"

Sakura then nodded. "Alright. I'll visit him tomorrow."

:::::

"Oh! Sakura! What a pleasant surprise!" Sugoroku Mutou said as he looked at the young woman just outside the game shop. She gave a small wave as she smiled at the elder man. "Hello, Mr. Mutou-" Sakura began but Sugoroku interrupted her. "Please, call me Grandpa, everyone else does." He said with a smile. Sakura blinked at first but then smiled. "Alright, Grandpa… is Yugi home?" she asked shyly. He nodded. "He is inside the shop."

"Would it be okay if I borrowed him for a couple of hours?" she asked softly, and the elder man's smile widened. "Of course, you can! Go right inside. She nodded and bowed. "Thank you." He waved his hand back and forth. "Think nothing of it!" with another nod, she went inside.

"Yugi?" she called - Yugi, who was sweeping the floor with his broom, looked up when he heard his name being called by a feminine voice; one that was familiar. That is when he saw her, Sakura, standing by the door… wearing a light green spaghetti strap tank top, light grey capri pants, and white one-inch heel sandals, around her wrist was a white bangle bracelet, and a red hair band in her pink hair. She was beautiful - and he shouldn't even go there… "Sakura? What are you doing here?" he asked her, surprise written on his face. She just smiled at him. "Grandpa said I could borrow you for a couple of hours." She said sweetly, he sweat dropped. "Borrow…me?" he asked with a dumbfounded look on his face. "Yeah! You are going to show me around Domino City!" she said as she walked up to him. He leaned the broom against the wall… was Grandpa planning something that he didn't know of? Or perhaps even Ino… "But… I'm working in the shop today."

"Forget that! At least for two hours! You're going to show me around!" she said with a smile as she looped her around his and began to drag him outside with her. "Sa-Sakura, hold on!" he said with a blush on his cheeks… too late, she already dragged him outside and Grandpa grinned.

"Take care of my grandson and have fun!"

"Will do Grandpa!"

Yugi just blushed as Sakura continued to tug on his arm and drag him where she wanted him to go.
