Here we go with another chapter, which does not describe what's going on with it that much. Though I have decided to give a glimpse into Zet's past life with this chapter. So do enjoy if you wish.
It had been a few days since Qrow had left Patch leaving Yang, Ruby, and Tai behind. It was a bit of a rough trip to Mistral a few mishaps on the ship he was taking had him take care of some aquatic grim to make sure the ship was safe. After they made it to land he began his long trip south towards where the settlements had gone dark. On his way there he did make sure to hit his usual places take in some good drinks and keep an ear to the ground to see if anything new was going on that he should know. Yet it was still the same old same old, bandits, backstabbings, and corruption aplenty in the land of Mistral.
He was able to make it southwards without much trouble meeting a few new faces and making some good drinking buddies along the way. Everything was going well until he reached the next leg of the journey. He was low on supplies and knew there was a town near where he could freshen up and maybe grab some information and a few drinks. But of course with his luck when he made it to town, he got stuck with a very talkative guard.
"I mean I can fight well, so ya know I thought about joining one of those training academies but the first few months there it just didn't give me the right vibe ya know? Too much of getting in the paperwork and proper etiquette that a person should operate. I mean, if I wanted to learn how to properly write out a form to allow me to fight, I would have joined a sports team. You feel me?" For what felt like the hundredth time Qrow nodded his head. "Yeah, lots of paperwork to do. So, about allowing me into the gate and getting my license back?"
"Eh shouldn't be that much longer, we don't get that good of a reception out here so having to check who's who is a pain. Luckily, I get to spend time on the wall looking out for grim or bandits to kill. Or hell, getting to talk to a Huntsmen that might come by." The guard snapped his fingers. "Oh speaking of huntsmen." Qrow begged the Savior to save him from this. He has spent fifteen minutes of his life listening to this guard prattle on about life. He just wanted to get in and talk to someone, and grab a drink but of course, his bad luck had him end up here waiting for his license to get checked out and allowed in.
"There was this—" The guard stopped, and Qrow silently thanked the Savior for finally getting the guard to shut up. "Ah, it looks like everything is good, man. The license came out green. I, as the guard of the eastern gate, officially welcome you to Yushi Zhen." The two wooden doors swung open with the sound of mechanical gears. "Oh and you can receive your license in the central building; the captain also wants to talk to you. Something about a job or something." Qrow smiled and waved at the guard as he walked through the gateway, letting out a tired sigh and pinching his brow he was glad that the whole one-sided conversation was done with.
Now, though, he had to go to some central building to talk to the captain of the guard to get his license back and to find out what job he was going to be asked to do. He did come here to get information, so who better than to get some information from than the captain of the guard? Well, besides barflies and drunks who visit local taverns and bars, in Qrow's opinion, that was one of the cheapest and best ways to get information about something or someone.
Taking a sip from his trusty flask, he walked to the central building that stood out from the others. It looked like it took on the old watchtower design from Mistral's more expansionist age, with green, almost jade-like tiles adorning it along with the usual more regal roofing. The two armored guards up front saw Qrow approaching and opened the door for him.
He gave the two guards a nod as he entered the building's entrance. Then, he was quickly escorted to the captain's room at the top of the tower, where he had to take the staircases because the elevator broke when he got in. He really hated his luck, but after taking a few deep breaths he opened the door and got greeted with a fucking mountain of a man. Qrow slowly craned his head up taking a look at the ceremonial jade armor and clothing that the man wore up to his face and the jade-colored scales that slightly covered it, and there was also the again jade-colored helmet that sat on his head. The one thing that did freak Qrow out slightly was the pale white eyes that stared at him, but a smile and his license being handed over to him made him calm down a bit.
"Qrow Branwan I must say its good to have another hunter visit our quaint little area of Mistral." The man then returned to his pretty plain desk as he took a seat at it. "Please take a seat Mr. Qrow I'm certain you're here to talk about the situation going in with our neighboring areas." Qrow nodded as he took a seat taking well notice of the massive jade-decorated executioner blade that hung behind the man. "Yeah, I am Mr?" The man nodded "Yu Shouhu zhe. But you can call me Yu."
"Right, Yu. Is there anything you can give me about the situation as well as who the other hunter that came was?" Yu moved as he took out some folders from his desk and opened them. "Well strange things started to happen I would say when that thing from sky or something crashed. I would say somewhere around three or four months ago. The whole night sky lit up as it went over our heads and crashed further south from us. Our little area is to far from the CCT tower or any of the smaller ones to get a good signal between our towns, all we have are emergency beacons to signal we need help from other towns. So we have mostly couriers delivering messages between all the local settlements."
Yu moves over to another document as he continues: "We sent out couriers south to make sure whatever came down didn't crash into anybody or cause any damage to any buildings. It took a bit longer for the couriers to come back, but some of the towns were gathering parties to investigate the crash site. After that, we got nothing from them, wherever we sent couriers south to try and see if everything was alright, we would get a few coming back saying that one of the towns found something. Saying they had found the crash site."
Qrow looked up. "So they found it, was anything there." Yu shook his head. "They only said they found it, they made no mention of finding anything in the crater." Qrow took a second to think. "So whatever was in the crater was either moved by someone or it moved itself." Yu confirmed. "That is the theory but whatever was in that crater has to have something with what is going on."
"And what is going on?" Qrow asked. "A few days after the crater was investigated couriers and supplies from the other settlements stopped coming, we were at first worried that the grim had attacked them, but their beacon didn't go off. So we feared that their people were being attacked, so we sent out some couriers taking side paths to check in on them. Yet none of the people we sent returned, then the people ran to our gates beaten and bloody."
Qrow already knew the answer. "Bandits." Yu let out a sigh as he looked at one of his reports. "That's what they say, at first that's what we believed a bandit tribe had moved into the area and was being aggressive." Yu grabs a map and spreads it on the table, which shows a large red circle over an area to the south. "Though something stuck out to me as the weeks passed on, this whole area is where the attacks happen. Multiple ones at multiple times of day if what little survivors we get. What made it strange is the majority of the time the people have their possessions the bandits are after the people, not their possessions. So we both have the question."
"Why capturing the people, I'm guessing from that bandit zone size dozens of people are being captured, and there's no tribe big enough to hold that many people, nor any reason to hold that many people. So the question is." Both spoke at the same time. "Why." Yu reached out for a cup of tea that was on the table as he took a sip from it and continued. "That is the question which we don't have an answer to, we could try and muster a force to be sent out, but if those guards suffer losses we are at a weaker position. A Hunter like you or the other one that came by, can go in find out what's going on, and take care of it. Yet with that other Hunter gone, well the situation has gotten worse."
"Worse how," Qrow replied as he took a sip from his flask. "With the Hunter not returning people have started to grow more worried, and with our trade south practically coming to a stop, people have started to fear what is coming. With that fear brings grim, already we are getting reports of larger grim packs forming, and attacks have already increased. Soon enough the dominos will fall and the grim will attack which will bring us all down. We need to handle this problem and have the status quo return."
"That's all the info you have about the towns?" Qrow asked. Yu solemnly nodded as he looked over the other reports on his table. "That's all we have. As I said, we had another Hunter come here seeing our message asking for help. I gave him all the information I have given you, though he was a strange one. He wore an old set of armor and a large sword always was talking about how the savior had guided him here to help us. He tried to convert a few people here while he was in town and also spouted a bunch of other nonsense that I can't recall. If I remember correctly, he called himself Hong Xiuquan. After the few days he spent here, he finally decided to handle our request and went southwards."
Yu shook his head. "When he didn't come back the first week we worried that it was something worse but that he would come back. By the second week we knew he was gone. Do you recall any Huntsmen by that name, so we can try to send a message back to his family?"
Qrow leaned back in the chair and tried to remember any Huntsmen with that name but none came up. "No, No I don't recall anyone that I met before with that name so I won't be able to help you there. Though if I do find him, alive or dead I'll try to bring him back." Yu nodded his head as he grabbed a spare map and handed it to Qrow. "That should give you the locations of the settlements that have gone dark, along with where we estimate where the crashsite is. I'll leave it to your discretion where you go first, but I think it would be best for you to check the settlement to our south first. They're the closest one to us and the latest one we have lost contact with."
Qrow stood up grabbing the map for him to use, Yu stood up with him knowing the meeting was over Qrow took a moment to look over the map nodding his head, and then spoke.. "I'll get ready to head south for tomorrow I'm already short of supplies so if you can spare anything." Yu raised his hand and shook it. "For a Hunter, we will gather what we can to help you, and everything should be ready for you tomorrow." Yu reached his hand out and Qrow grabbed it and shook it. "I'll do what I can." Yu nodded as their hands separated. "It is the least I can do, but this is a more morbid fact I must ask.
Yu grabbed another document and grabbed a pen to write. "Before I send you out I must ask for your family's information so if you don't come back we can contact them. As well as a timescale to reach out for us if you don't return." Qrow looked morbidly at the floor and nodded. "I get what you're doing, but I'll make it back from the distance from this town to one of the ones that went dark. I should be back in four days max. If not." Qrow reached for the pen and paper and wrote Ozpin's CCT number on it. "Contact them."
Yu looked at the name and number and put them in a document. "I'll do so. Please go to Dragon's Rest Inn. My brother runs it, so just tell him I sent you, and he should give you a room for your stay." Qrow recalled such an inn when he was passing through town here. "Thanks its I think some rest will do some good, maybe a few drinks as well." YU let out a sigh and lifted his hand. "If you are going to drink I give you some warning don't drink with my brother he has a steel liver and doesn't know the limits around him. I'd rather not deal with whatever mess my brother might get you into."
Qrow let out a chuckle as he nodded. "You don't got to worry about me I know my limits, and again thanks for the free stay." Yu only gave a nod as he sat back down to continue his work for the day as Qrow left the building and headed to the inn. As he approached the inn, he heard the sound of singing growing louder and louder. When he opened the doors, he was met with a bunch of drunk people all singing in various broken tunes to a song most of the people only recently learned. In the center of all this was a tall man standing on top of a bar counter with a group of people standing on either side of him absolutely sloshed, barely standing, and putting in as much effort into their signing as their ability to stand straight.
Qrow had never felt more at home among his people. Walking past some drunkards and a man crying and telling his life story to a chair, He made his way to an open section of the bar that didn't have people standing on it or lying out drunk sleeping on the counter. The barkeep saw him approach and let out a smile as he cleaned up the counter for them. He was a lean fellow not too thin or too brawny, a mop-top of indigo hair covered his head, and a small scar covered his lip along with a small five o'clock shadow covered his face.
"What can I do for you?" The man asked politely as Qrow took his seat at the bar, he had some time to kill and his flask was running dry. So something to wet his lips before he called it a day after a long flight was a good plan in his eyes. "Yu Zhe told me to come here, told me I could get a room for the night, along with some refreshments," Qrow emphasized the latter point with a shake of his near-empty flask.
The barkeep looked at the flask and nodded, then looked at the now dancing group of people on the bar counter and raised his voice. "Hey, boss Yu sent you a guest!" The man in the middle quickly turned towards the pair and smiled as he left the group of people, who promptly fell on each other, still drunkenly singing, with some groans added into the mix.
The man gave a little hop off the counter, and Qrow was now face to face with Yu's brother. The man had a close resemblance to Yu, but instead of jade-like scales covering his face, this man had black scales and the deep white eyes that his brother had. The man also seemed to be wearing some dark eyeshadow to help his eyes and scales show. The brother also wore a pretty casual white shirt with a black vest over it, a black dragon pin being shown proudly on the shirt collar.
"Ah you must be the new Hunter that's come in. sorry if my brother bored you a bit with what's going on, but I'm glad he sent you over to me. Someone of your stature deserves some R&R and what better place to get it than my humble little inn?" The man grabbed a bottle underneath the shelf along with a small glass, throwing both into the air and doing a little show before popping the cap off of the bottle and pouring some of its contents into the glass. "A drink from my own brew on the house."
Qrow reached for the glass, giving it a sniff before shrugging and downing it, feeling a very nice taste and burn flow from what he drank. Qrow gave a nice tap with the glass against the bar counter as the brother also downed his glass. "Ah, what better way to know a man than to break a drink with him? So before we get into the next drinks what may I call the Hunter who I'm drinking with." The brother spoke as he began to pour another round for the both of them.
"Qrow." The bartender stopped pouring for a few seconds and smiled. "Well, Qrow name's Zhao, and might I say it's a pleasure to put a face to that name." Qrow raised an eyebrow as he looked at the man. "You know me?" Qrow said as he took another sip from the glass. Zhao chuckled as he nursed one as well. "I'd dare say every bartender who's worth their salt of having an ear to the ground would. I have a few bars that come far and wide to grab some of my brews, and they always talk about the Hunter Qrow coming bar to bar looking for Grim or human prey to hunt. That and also the massive tab bills you have racking up across Remnant."
Qrow cringed a bit, both at the fact that his name was getting around and at the fact that his fear of all the bars talking to each other was true. Qrow looked at the new glass that got filled before him and looked at Zhao who waved his hand. "The drinks are on me so you don't got to worry about me making you pay the tabs you owe. Plus its the innkeeper, slash barkeeper's creed to keep our high-rollers lifestyles a secret. So whatever you ask me or I of you will stay between us."
Qrow let out a small sigh of relief that he didn't currently need to pay all the tabs he's be dodging. However, a corner of his mind did feel validated by his paranoia that the barkeeps did in fact know each other and were talking about him. Which for his line of work wasn't exactly a good thing, but at least they knew to keep things under wrap. Taking a few extra sips from his drink before asking for a refill. "Well, its good that you guys know to keep some tight lips. Can't exactly have people talking about my line of work wherever I go."
Zhao just chuckled as he downed his glass to match with Qrow before refilling both of their drinks. "Oh, we know what secrets to tell and which ones not to. Now you got a few drinks in, ya. I gotta ask. What do you think about all this business going on?" Qrow just shrugged his shoulders. "I don't like making guesses, so I can't give you an answer to that question."
Zhao just nodded as he finished his glass. "Well, everyone has their guesses besides you, I suppose. Everyone here has guesses about what's going on. Normal ones are about some bandits trying to form their own kingdom, a grim surge that hit them all hard at once, to maybe a rouge Huntsmen going off the rocker, and some of the crazier ones."
Qrow finished his drink starting to feel the buzz coming as both their glasses got filled. "Well what are some of the crazier ones." Zhao let out a deep chuckle as he started to recall some of the guesses. "A few people think it's an Atlas or Mistral coverup from new military tech, some thinking that it's a new plague that is coming for us, and a few people saying its aliens."
Qrow let out a soft laugh as he replied. "Aliens really?" Zhao nodded his head as he continued. "Yeah with whatever fell from the sky some people are pointing at that event and saying its aliens. Some of the people here actually got bets on whatever crashed from the sky, or what caused all those settlements to go dark."
Qrow raised his eyebrow at the later part of that statement. "You have a bet going on about the missing settlements?" Zhao slightly rolled his eyes before he moved to defend his statement. "Listen its a way to keep people away from thinking about the bad citation we're in, people drink and get merry and place money in a spot of dark humor. I'm just here making sure people take the situation a bit better."
For a few seconds, Qrow thought over that process before taking a sip of his drink and speaking. "I can see that thought process, still a bit dark is all. What do you think?" Zhao took a moment to think of his answer before he replied. "I'm a risk taker so my money is on it being aliens, not the safest bet but hell if I win I get money from the pool and knowledge in the fact that we're not alone in the universe. If not and its just some bandits, then that's what we have you here for. Beating up some heads and getting people right on track."
Qrow let out another chuckle. "We'll if it is aliens, I'll make sure to come back here and pay my tabs. If not, you owe me a bottle of whatever you've been giving me." Zhao let out a similar chuckle as he nodded his head. "I'll take on that bet. Just a heads up, though, that tab bill is really, really big. So for your sake, let's hope I'm wrong."
The two men chuckled at the end of their conversation, talking about other mindless things that needed to be passed the time. After a few more drinks and an empty bottle of whatever moonshine Zhao had made, Qrow stumbled up the stairs to the room Zhao gave him. It did take Qrow a few moments to try and get his key into the lock to get into his room, but soon the door was opened and then locked behind him as he made his way to his cot before falling onto it and passing out.
[linebreak]
Zet rose from his slumber, his weary eyes blinking away at the small bits of dust that had accumulated. Rough fingers reached up to clear whatever was left as he stretched and got out of his bed. Looking back he saw that the other that should have been occupying it was already gone. Zet let out a soft chuckle as he went to put on his clothes for the day, if he remembered the Imperial Senate was on recess for today so he wouldn't need to bother them. No agency was asking for his presence, and by the silence of the hallway leading to his room no one was rushing to get him for some emergency.
This morning he would actually be able to spend it how he wished. Oh how rarely he had those mornings now with everything going on. He let a smile grasp his lips as he made sure everything correctly fitted and headed for the doorway leading out from his room. When he opened the doors he was greeted with one of his palace guards in full ceremonial plate waiting for him. A tired sigh escaped Zet's lips as he stood a bit taller; though he could remember all of his guards, this one's name did seem to slip his mind. "Yes?" Zet spoke, giving his approval for the guard to speak.
The guard gave a slight bow before returning to a normal stance. "My lord, her Highness requests your presence at the balcony." Zet nodded sagely. "I suppose she asked for you to wait for me to wake to carry that message?" The guard replied with a soft nod of his head. "Yes, my lord. She said it wasn't urgent and that you needed, in her words, your beauty sleep." Zet let out a soft chuckle as he nodded his head. "Very well, I thank you for carrying the message, you may return to your post."
The guard slammed his fist against the plate of his armor above his heart and a nod of his head. That imperial salute he gave had a bit of nervousness in it, ah he was a fresh guard that's why he didn't recognize them. Zet moved past the new guard as they separated and carried on his duty. As he walked through the palace aides, guards, and servants passed by him. He stopped to chat with a few thanking them for their tasks, and for some offering to help with some duty in the palace later on in the day. With a chuckle leaving his lips from a joke one of the people he talked to bouncing around his mind, he reached the balcony.
He did wonder why he was asked to come to the official one rather than the informal one for this one to one. But a slight shrug was what he gave himself before opening the doors to it. The bright light from the morning sun bathed his eyes as he had to take a moment to adjust to the light. He let out a smile as he saw the back of his most important partner, but as his eyes grew sharper he noticed something, there were no wings, nor a tail coming from them. Then his mind caught up,looking down at his hands they were human no grim flesh to be seen. He remembered the crash, then the-
"How long has it been since we last spoke." Before his mind could go further, the voice of the person before him spoke. "Centuries, or has it been a few millennia?" He recalled that voice, and he let out a sigh as he went beside them and looked out. With his eyes adjusted, he could see the endless moving form of a dreamscape, some parts of his mind setting up buildings mixing and merging the sight with others he had seen. "Of course, it would be a dream.." A tired breathe espaced Zet's lips as he tried to count the years when they had a chance to talk like this.
"By my guess a few centuries. It has been a while since we've had a moment like this to talk." A soft chuckle came from the woman next to him. "So it has, so it has." For a while, the two simply stood next to each other. The comfort of the silence was enough for Zet. But he knew he had limited time to speak, he would wake, and who knew how long it would be for him to be here again. "How have you been, Sallen?"
He turned to his right to look at his first wife, she moved her hand up to her face to move some of her blonde hair away from her deep purple eyes that looked back at him. She was wearing that beautiful purple and gold dress that draped over her, she always looked beautiful in that dress. He remembered that was the dress he burrie- A soft hand touched his cheek as he seemed to have looked away from her for a moment. His green eyes returned to her purple ones. "I am here Zet." Zet raised his hand and grasped hers. "You are, but you aren't. Every time I have these dreams, I wish you were truly here."
A soft smile formed on Sallen's lips as she brought their hands to rest on the railing. "If I were, I think Lucy would be jealous of how much time you would be having with me, especially since she hasn't found you or the realm you're in yet." Zet nodded, a soft smile coming on his lips. "She would be, though she would deny it fully and then have me make up for it somewhere down the line."
"Maybe she would have you deal with some of her paperwork, you did always hate having to deal with my sides of the government work." Zet nodded as he recalled the mountains of paper work they would both have to handle. "Yours was mostly public relations work, it was a pain having to find out which place to send a government official to that would make us look good and not end up getting scammed or ending up with a scandal because of something that happened."
"Ah, yes, if you recall, you did send one of our aides to a sewage treatment plant because of a mix-up." Zet let out a sigh as he looked up. "They had the same name as a charity in a different province. Plus, if you recall, said aide came back with information about that province's failing water infrastructure, so my misstep helped us in the long run. Hell, we even got invited to go there and brought Zovaka-" Zet went quiet as he turned away his hand squeezing Sallen's hand.
They went quiet, the spoken name of their lost child making it a dead silence. The two stood there for a few moments before Sallen spoke up. "Did you ever get the one?" Zet nodded. Once I had the power and the knowledge, I hunted them down. They knew I was after them, so they traveled from citadel to citadel. I found them in the inner chambers of Heaven's palace. They tried to say they were following orders, that the council under the supervision of the Fates had told them to do so."
Zet's other hand squeezed hard against the balcony's railing, the marble cracking under his rage. "I made sure every last moment of their life was in pain, I tore their wings off flayed their skin and in their last moments I made sure I tore their soul apart and made it hurt. I laughed, as they screamed for forgiveness. I made sure that they felt powerless, in their last moments to feel like those they executed. To make sure in their damnable last seconds of life they truly knew fear!"
Zet's rage subsided as he looked at Sallen. "I only wished you were alive, so I could come back to you and tell you I had done it. That the murderer of our child was dead, and we could grieve." Zet began to kneel the strength in his legs giving out. "Yet I outlived you, and anyone who I could grieve with was gone. I was alone. No matter what I did, those who I was surrounded with would pass on, even those who could live longer and who I thought I could move on with. Even they died from old age while I still lived."
Sallen kneeled next to him holding him close as Zet reached his arms around her and held her. "I tried for you, Sallen, and for him, I know this war is nearly over, that when I return, Lucy will be there to tell me of our victory. That those bastards in the council will pay. But even after so many countless millennia, will it be worth it with you and him gone? To become a leader of a new divine but not have you and him next to me." Sallen brushed Zet's hair as she comforted him. "We may be gone Zet, but you have protected so many. You have done so much for people who will never know your name, or know your purpose. Don't look to us as your greatest failures, you could only do so much as you were."
Zet raised his head to oppose her, to say she wasn't his greatest failure but she shushed him and continued. "Here in this realm so far away from our home, your powers are gone, and only your mind is your great weapon. Here you can still do so much, you can be that brave warrior that our son always saw you as. You can make sure what happened to us may never happen to anyone. You've already made sure of that for those girls you saved, so all you need to do is just make sure those two are safe. Along with anyone else you meet on your adventures here."
Zet nodded and moved his head back into Sallen's grasp. "When will I see you again." Zet knew the dream was going to end soon, he despised how little time he had to spend with Sallen and how his time with her even after death would always be cut short. To reply she just kept brushing his hair and hummed a tone that they sang together whenever Zovaka had a nightmare. It was always a gentle tune that brought calm even into his heart. "Hopefully soon, but we can never tell when the great dreamer will have us meet again can we."
Zet held Sallen a bit tighter as he could hear the dream collapsing around him. "I will always love you Sallen no matter how many people my heart may fall for, no matter how much time may pass, I will always love you." Sallen lifted his head and the two stared at each other, deep green staring into dark purple. "And I will always love you Zet, my brave knight in red." The two stared at each other lovingly as the light got brighter and brighter around them, the last thing in his dream was the smiling face of Sallen.
Zet woke with a start his breathing quick and shallow, he rose his hands in front of his face seeing the black and bony form of the grim flesh he had come to possess. He felt rage strike his heart as his fists clenched but slowing his breathing and unclenching them took the rage away. He laid back on the improvised bed he had made looking up to the dark ceiling of the cave he had made his home in this realm. He closed his eyes and bathed in the swirl of emotions that were now going through him. Why now had the great dreamer given him that, why in over centuries when he was near victory had they been allowed to talk? He laid there questions bouncing around for an answer, but he knew none would come.
For a while, he stared at his bed before his mind heard the sound of footfalls against stone. "Hey, big guy, are you there!" Yang's loud voice echoed off the walls and reached his ears with a ring. "Yang don't shout maybe he had a long day yesterday and needs some rest." Ruby's softer voice replied to her sister's. "Yeah well, I'm freezing my as- butt off waiting for him. So unless someone doesn't want some help!" That later part was most certainly aimed at him. "I guess we're just going to leave then!" Zet let a smile get to his lips as he remembered Sallen's words.
Getting off his bed he started to move towards the mouth of the cave seeing the two forms of Yang and Ruby waiting for him. "Took you long enough…" Yang looked at the top of his head before rasing and eyebrow and continuing. "Wait, were you actually asleep?" Zet followed Yang's eyes to the top of his head; reaching up he felt the unmistakable feeling of a cowlick. He simply shrugged as he moved past them to start making some food to the three of them. "Dude it's past three the heck are you waking up so late?" Another shrug was all Zet could reply with before he went to catch up with the day he had apparently dreamed through most of it.
Another chapter is done and dusted. While the Qrow part is mostly talking, it does help set up the situation going on in the area and also gives me the chance to drop a bunch of game and history references in this small town. Things will maybe start to move a bit quicker next chapter as pieces begin to move.
As for the dream sequence, I will admit it does feel slightly out of place, but I do want to at least drop stuff about Zet's past on you guys so I don't have to end up writing one big, and this is how it happened chapter down the line. I will have a more organic way for his past to be revealed down the line, but other wise hints and whatever I can work in to give him some more back bone.
As for my future possible publish chapter I got work and classes starting up so I'll maybe be aiming for a biweekly chapter release just so I can look chapters over a bit longer, and also give myself some time to not have to worry about getting another chapter out on time. Though I don't know if inspiration will hit me like it has at the start of this story and get me to make a chapter a week, but guess we will see.
Anywho like before reviews are asked for and thank you again for reading another chapter of The Guardian of Remnant.
